So you here how humans can survive 3-5 days without water. But surely if you are starving too a lot of retaining water will be released from glycogen? Surely being hungry and thirsty simultaneously would increase your chances of survival somewhat.

I don't exactly understand how the process works, but it would seem logical.

We all have a natural survival mechanism built in to our bodies. If your body senses that it is being hydrated, it will naturally fight to retain the water that is already in your body. You sweat less, and produce more saliva. Very similar to when you eat less, your body's metabolism slows down in an attempt to conserve the food insulation that your body already has.

Glycogen is stored energy in the human body which is released into the bloodstream when an individual goes on fasting. Glycogen is stored in the liver and in long muscles like thighs. Water, on the other hand, is conserved by Kidneys through R-A-A axis (Renin-Angiotensin-Aldosterone) . Blood vessels are constricted to maintain blood pressure when there isn't enough water in the body. Water is not released or retained by Glycogen.
