    From my experience, the best preparation for day to day in case of an emergency is being well informed. Knowing how to make a fire, a shelter, local wildlife and plants, knowing how to properly scavenge, keep lots of water filter, etc. This is useful for the basics, but how much is enough to optimize your survival? Where would you start? I travel a lot and the environments I am around fluctuate drastically. How much is the basic information you need to cover before traveling anywhere?

    I think you should have information about the weather, the ecosystem of the area, security and closeness to emergency response.
