Rice farmers have a side income from the rice field which they start to till after a month of rains. It may be surprising for some to know that a rice field has fish after having water for a month. They cannot explain where the fish come from. There are also lots of frogs and snails not to mention the birds that are feasting on the fish in the wet rice field. Rice farmers say that they can get a week's supply of food in the rice field during the planting season.

If you know how to trap birds, that would be appreciated during the harvest season. Birds are the nemesis of rice farmers because those winged pests eat the ripening grains.
