Weapons In The Wilderness

Let's imagine that you are in the wilderness with no weapons: maybe you forgot them, you lose them or they broke someway. Anyway it's your fault or not, you are now without weapon. What resources does nature offer us to build some primitive weapons, besides of pointy rocks and similar?

My first impulse would be to look for a stick that can serve as a walking cane. It's not much but that piece of wood can save me from wild animals. And maybe against people who suddenly become unfriendly. When in the wilderness, the tendency is to stay away from harmful animals especially snakes that can kill people. When there is no such stick then I can get a branch from any tree.
