E1 destroys small micro chips like those in computers and phones . Which in itself would be problematic from both a civilian and military standpoint . E2 I honestly do not know about . E3 can melt electrical coils in things such as transformers and anything else connected to an electrical transmission line . -- Some people think they have hardened their home electrical systems and I will not try to argue the point . The thing is the hardening is likely based on the Starfish Prime experiment and the expected strength of an EMP . Since then super EMP capabilities have been developed which can direct an EMP blast in the target's direction similar to an shaped explosive device . These new EMP devises are smaller but much more potent than those that scientist thought was bad back during the Starfish Prime days . --- I have mentioned before but it appears governments have worked hard to keep the peasants ignorant in order to keep them calm and docile . This concerns hostile governments putting EMP devises in Satellites that can be detonated at the hostile countries discretion . The internet has been scrubbed of this information .Well finally this information just resurfaced via the video I posted . It appears even the hermit country North Korea has " two " satellites that cross over the United States as well as other countries " twice " each day . These two satellites have " never " sent out a signal of any kind , but just sit silently over our heads . Yes they are orbiting at the desired altitude for an EMP . --- We can expect a minimum of two years of gaining electricity back and that is a very optimistic estimation by the experts . First the attacking country can easily make sure the needed new transformers and such or either never built or never arrive . Second we can expect governments to try to get their favorite part of their country back up and running and leave rural prepper oriented areas in the dark . The areas where people don't vote right .

After exhausting research, I gave up on preparing against an EMP or Major CME. Now I prepare to live without power. Yes I will store a few solar panels and controls but I will not have them connected. They are for AFTER it hits the fan. The system will only be used to charge a few batteries. Heating / cooking will done the old fashioned way. Water will be collected and stored. Food will be provided from the gardens and from nature's critters. Stocked provisions will be carefully used as needed and per their life span. If the crisis is just (just ????) an economic depression and barter is safe or viable, then I will have my skills and equipment to fall back on. If it is a full blown WROL situation, then I will be self sufficient. Preppers that live in environmentally hostile locations need to relocate to an area they can survive without electricity. Being a-hole deep in the white fluffy stuff during a complete grid down situation, is not my idea of a fun time.

Imagine if we have another one of the coincidences like have become almost routine over the last few years such as bats creating covid ;) , mandatory mask wearing , government insistence of taking the mystery injection , Drastic uptick in deaths , Childless women , U.S. oil reserve being sold to China , Oil production shut down , refineries shutting down , Food and other commodities skyrocketing with the inflation . Now if we should get coincidently EMP attacked , it would shut down all the United States voting machines for November 2024 . Oops no election . We could have the Biden Crime syndicate in office indefinitely .

Of all places, New York City has an infrastructure that is freaking ancient. In particular, their fresh water intakes are like a century old. You gotta know the electrical feed and natural gas feed are also in horrid need of renovation.

Over a decade ago (two or three decades ago -- I can't remember the date), Los Angeles geologists and engineers dug-up the 100+ yr-ago results of oil explorations in the area where Lost Angeles currently occupies. This documentation revealed a massive number of faults in the earth's crust. It was like a giant had stepped on some sheet of glass.

America's cities are soooooooo vulnerable to a stack of potential catastrophes!

And, as preppers witness, the masses are utterly unprepared. All preppers are dumbfounded when observing how non-prepared / anti-prepared are the masses. I want to be 200 miles away from chaos, yet am only 150 miles (or less) away from a cluster-f###.

Less pear into what it will take for an EMP'd country to recover . No electricity so oil production is non-existent , no stores of any kind open so no fuel to be pumped and sold for transporting anything , no power tools unless someone had a solar panel or equivalent that somehow escaped the EMP . Also the surviving population is starving , desperate and ready to overtake any vehicle that might travel down a road . All friendly countries are in the same situation so no help from a country that escaped the blast is coming . Factories for making anything will likely have to get power for machinery from a dammed up stream . As can be seen recovery will not come easily . --- I would expect many will sell their children , spouse and themselves into slavery to the very country that EMP'd them .

To me.....this is one of the main reaons....a cashless society is a very very dumb and stupid idea....it is beyond stupid....incredibly stupid......all electronic systems ...including money systems need to have a manual...non electric overide.....not dependent on electricity......

And cash is just such an manual override...

    and here by Max Rigger.....

    Amen Max....Amen....

When I am not on this laptop....the power is disconnected and the internet cable connection removed...

On my ham radios..when I am not on them the power turned off and the coaxial cable disconnected....it is my way.

I have two ham HF rigs put away and wrapped in aluminum foil....not sure how much it will help....but they are wrapped in foil....

Also the same with two shortwave radio receivers with SSB capability.....wrapped in aluminum foil...

Another one at work....wrapped in aluminum foil and in a metal locker...

The monster turbines spun by water flowing through dams will be unaffected by EMP. Nuclear power plant infrastructure at the generation plants has to be EMP protected else its own potential radiated and conducted fields could be killed.

Power transmission lines going to key infrastructure assets would have to be repaired. That could be done locally, but the Army Corps of Engineers would factor-in. Military vehicles have EMP protection. Some early-run Blackhawk helos had some major flaws in EMP protection, thus there was a massive recall / re-fitting.

In the region where we live, people who are current military and reserve constitute a very significant part of the populace. There is no shortage of volunteerism. Locals man the fire departments, emergency rescue teams, and ambulance services. The folk around here don't panic and don't condone anyone doing so. City-folk who have moved here will not be welcome in any sort of bad SHTF episodes. If people act-up, they stand to get shot-down -- literally.

Not all countries nor regions are prone to panic. Witness the reaction of the Israelis to there having been attacked by the people of Gaza.

Having said the above, one must consider major Western cities as being populated with easily panicked people. They will stampede like cattle if pushed the slightest bit. Turn off the electricity to the monster urban sprawls and chaos will be seen in less than a week's time. Too, urbanites store no food. Rural Americans find that freaky strange. They do here in the South. In the South, having a pantry and/or root cellar is tradition. Around here, canning supplies are currently wiped-out because it is now November and so all of the shelves where there were once jars and lids are empty, bought-out, gone gone gone. Or should I say, used used used and stored away in pantries and basements. Instead of vegies being sold at farmers' markets, its now canned goods that are overflow from family canning.

Just recently apples and cider flooded into our small town. Sections of parking lots were turned into apple stands, apple-mania central. Now, the pumpkins and squash are being sold along the country roads. In the spring, the garden supply shops will be buzzing. There are green houses galore around here. One can buy new growth seedlings or packs of seeds for whatever grows well here. It's big business.

For curiosity's sake, I just looked up "farm supply stores" for my county. There are sixteen outlets where you can buy tractor equipment / farming mechanical implements (the heavy stuff). All of these within thirty/forty miles from where I'm sitting right now. In my county, there are hundreds of men who have welding equipment. There are five welding supply and welding gasses outlets in this county. Just counted them also. There's no shortage of electricians around here who have the ability to rebuild / rewire damage to infrastructure.

Again, urban areas do NOT have sufficient people to support their massive populations -- especially if the masses panic. In my mind, there's no survival potential in urban nor suburban sprawls. There's just no self-sufficiency there. Urbanites do not possess the skills nor the mindset to survive much of anything, forget a real SHTF scenario. Urbanites aren't armed either and if they do own a gun its just a handgun -- which is next to useless when you are in dire straights.

power lines have to be repaired after an EMP but if the EMP has ruined the various connectors and maybe even the sub stations then any spare parts that are required at least in Britain are not kept on the shelf especially the larger components, they have to be ordered, made and shipped usually from abroad-probably China- and that can take several months for each part, in the meantime we are all sitting in the dark, can you imagine the panic that will ensue especially in the big cities, no power, nothing moves, nothing is delivered, everything grinds to a halt especially commerce, no electric no ATM's card readers wont work and even if you can pay cash in stores they cannot open the till without electricity and no store has a manual handle any more. the automatic doors wont open and the pumps in the filling stations wont work, no computers will work, no internet, no phones, no facebook or twitter, how the population will suffer, oh my!!! in the ensuing panic many will die.

living without electricity is not hard to do if you have planned and prepared for it , its actually quite simple if you dont try to make it too complicated, its how everyone lived before WW2 and even some after it, but people are too lazy or too stupid, most of the modern (urban) population will be unable to survive without electricity for heating, cooking and lighting, to say nothing of mains water and sewage treatment.
once the power grid fails so does society if not civilisation itself.

if everything is shut down The Biden crime family headed by that well known fool wont actually control much of the USA, a small area around Washington only. same in the UK the govt will only control a small area around London and probably not much inside London if the Muslim areas have anything to do with it.

If the grid was to suddenly go down, those that have not prepared will be shyte out of luck, no matter how much money they have. The rich won't be able to call for or demand alternate services be provided. No phones, no petrol, no gas deliveries, no water, no nothing. The roads will be clogged with dead vehicles. Little to no news updates from HAM operators. Some may know what has happen but they will not be able to spread the word, again no phones of any type. Without pumping / lift stations sewage will back up and flood many homes and buildings. How do you block off the sewer lines? Your toilets, showers / bathtubs and sinks all connect to the sewer system. How many people even know this or know if they are located on the low side of the sewer system? Water will quickly run out as again, pumping stations will not function. Once the huge water storage tanks / towers run dry, there will not be any working pumps to refill them. As soon as the grid goes down, two (water and food) of life's requirements will be lost. It will not take the unprepared long to decide what you have, MUST be shared with them. Mankind will revert back to their primitive state within three weeks, as their food supplies run out. Small groups will quickly organize to go through the neighborhood and collect food and water for the good of everybody. Bad times are on the horizon.

People lived without electricity throughout human history.

Even after cars, trucks, and tractors came along, most rural towns had no electricity. Fuel was pumped manually and water was pumped either manually or by a windmill. Engines were crank-started or you rolled down a hill then kicked the thing into gear to start it. My dad taught me that if I were crank-starting an engine to make sure I didn't put my thumb around the crank lest it kick-back and break my thumb.

At least two of my kerosene lanterns belonged to my grandparents / great grandparents. I have manual crank drills and use them. What if I'm where I don't have electrical feed or I'm too lazy to run a power cable. I use a chain saw for big tree-cutting tasks, but I have all sizes of saws, axes and mauls. I have siphon hoses for fuel.

Most city folk haven't hardly any tools at all. They could put all of their tools in a small cabinet drawer. Even if someone were to hand them the tools they needed, they haven't the skills to use them. Here I am a crippled old git, but I just got finished working on my truck today ... actually under my truck. There I was scooting under that rusty monster, tools strewn hither-thither, was sweating such that my goggles kept fogging (had three pair of goggles; as each fogged due to me sweating like a horse, I'd exchange it for another pair), turned out that I had to use numerous different tools and skills to get the job done. All I had to do was to replace the EVAP canister (charcoal catch for gasoline vapors; i.e. environmental B.S. / pain in the @$$), but the housing had rusted into place. Had to drill-out and replace the holding bolt and due to massive rust on its harness, had to zip-stip (LARGE zip strips) / jerry-rig it into place so it wouldn't rattle as much.

There's a bunch of young people would wouldn't / couldn't have done that simple repair (well, it should have been simple, but rust happens)! Lord only knows what a garage would have charged me! Post-SHTF, people who can't repair what they have will be up sh##'s creek. I bled but not bad. Had I royally cut myself I have packs of blood clotting agent, providone iodine, plus butterfly bandages, 4" x 4" gauze pads, medical tape, all that ... .

I know repairmen who can tackle jobs I can't handle. One guy is a Marine who now works nearby -- out of the military, but ALWAYS a Marine. We were talking medic stuff and I mentioned that I keep a CAT tourniquet in all of my vehicles. He said, "You can use that," pointing to my cane. We laughed. I took my cane and pretended like I was using it to tighten a tourniquet. I said, "High and tight!" We laughed again. I mentioned how arteries will retract, whereupon he said that you have to reach up in the wound to try to grab the artery with your fingers if it starts to retract. I replied, "Oh yuck! Yes." He wasn't a medic, but everybody in combat has to know some basics like packing a sucking chest injury or darting a pneumothorax. These injuries are super-common. Compound fractures = evac.

Tonight living in the aftermath of an EMP may seem unreal and totally imaginary . However " at least in my opinion " it will be very real before November 2024 . As the United States EMP government experts predict , I look for about a 90% death rate in the United States mainly due to unpreparedness and pure wimpy folks . Survival rate will likely vary from country to country .

    Jeeze Louise man, settle down!

What you want may not happen. Will happen? Yes. But, it will happen in many different ways. If a Big Event happens, it will not be in any way that we have thought it will happen. It will be some unforeseen event. One can prep, but one cannot know the specific mode of the coming apocalypse. I've been around for one long time. How is it that one gets slammed? You don't know. We lost our daughter. How did that happen?! Screw life. Life is an ongoing hell. One can prep for this or that, yet ...

The cities are gone, yeah sure, duh!!!! That's a freaking given. Child's play. Set yourself up and someone will come along and break their leg off in your @$$. My dad predated on the weak. I watched. I learned.

I'm not weak. Neither are you and yours. Leave it at that.

Did you need your compound and whatnot? Great, good. I'm happy for you and yours. But, don't go cartoon on us. Dear Lord, the Prophets have been telling humans/Earthlings this reality for Lord only knows how many centuries now! So, it's happening now. Settle down, dude! Chill. We do what we can do. Reality doesn't go away. I stood behind my wife when she was fighting cancer. We went Old Testament on her cancer. That was over 23 years ago. She is still around. F### cancer. We did. I've had several skin cancers. I had them cut-out, burned out. Screw'em, I'm still here.

Hey man, we here are all on the same page. Get with our UNITY. We preppers circle the wagons. You are not alone. Most preppers have survived near-death events. Thus, we are preppers. We ain't kids no more. Grown-up time and all that. Your preps are meaningful. But even in hell-times, relax. I've finished my lunch watching a guy die. I've watched my beloved die right there in front of me. I've closed the eyes of both my parents. I've turned off the life-support machines of my own beautiful loving daughter. Life is beyond hell. So it goes. Here we are.

Be one of us. We are in this together. In times of raw damnation, one has to keep their cool. Be at peace in times that are anything that are peaceful. I have infinite respect for the Jewish Resistance (I'm not Jewish) who went on with what life they had to live when all of the NAZI empire want'a'be's wanted them dead. Life in this world is a sick adventure in the unknowable Darkness.

Cheers! Drink-up! It is as it is. I got a dynamite deal on 9mm ammo this week. The wife showed me her technique of making the best pancakes.

Life is a painful choice. One must become lost in their Creator. The self must be put in its place, a teeny-tiny place. This universe is infinite and it is but one universe.

a 90% mortality rate in Britain would put the population number back to what it was just before the Industrial Revolution around 300 years ago, a 95% mortality rate would put it back to The Plague/Black Death survival rate in the Middle Ages.

which is a good reason not to be in a city or large urban centre when it happens.
as I have said before UK urban people drive on low to nearly empty tanks and petrol station can empty in 24-36 hours, we have all seen queues at filling stations when supplies are low, if its an EMP then most modern cars probably wont work anyway even if they have fuel.
if it is an EMP then nothing electrical will work, no phones, no radios, no communication, everything will have to be done by word of mouth thats if anyone can organise, they'll probably be all panicking instead.
without water the sewers will probably seize solid with human waste and fat and grease- and wet wipes and "disposable" nappies, the toilets wont work anyway which is another good reason not to be in a city, goodness knows where they will dump all their "waste".

Uptick in the likely EMP coming . Yemen has now entered the conflict by seizing a cargo vessel in the Red Sea area that was flying a Israel flag . Yemen's plan is to stop all Israel's ships that may try to utilize the Suez canal .--- Two Thousand United States troops are now on the ground to guard a Nuclear facility in the war torn area between Israel and the Palestinians . --- Good to be a prepper as we enter Teotwawki

Yemen will get its rear-end handed to it and in short order with a tiny fraction of our military capability.

Our 5th Fleet is sitting right there. Israel or the U.S. will flick them away like a kid flicking a booger out his nose.

I have heard this too lonewolf....

I am wondering about this....as I still have a couple of olde Mopeds.....with points in them....not electronic ignition as is so much today..

I also have my Dad's olde Chevy sedan from the late 1960s....points and condenser...not electronic ignition like so many vehicles of today.....of which I took time to purchase several sets and put them back....in storage..

Wondering if these will still work.????

They may run but you will have a very difficult time getting any petrol. Plus having the only operating vehicle on the road, may not be very healthy.

although a moped would go a long way on a gallon of petrol getting any fuel may be impossible, also being a 2 stroke it will be heard miles away at a time when there is little or no traffic.
people forget noise, in a post collapse world noise will be more easily heard , and movement more easily seen.

Many and probably most people drastically underestimate what the living will face in the aftermath of an EMP . I can only conclude they can not handle it so mentally try to downplay it . My personal opinion Enemies attacking will likely only use an EMP , sit back and wait for the die off and eventually walk right into the died off country , with all the farming land and infrastructure safe and usable for themselves . Countries like Russia , Iran and North Korea don't have much modern technology so they can absorb a retaliation better than say the United States or the U.K. The aggressor can simply try to shoot down incoming fire and accept the results of the incoming missiles that find their target as a trade for what they expect to reap from taking the dying EMP'd country . --- On another note , I don't know if any of our members watched the video that I posted presented by the United States official EMP expert so I have been feeding tidbits from the video . Over the last few years EMP technology has increased dramatically . Way more powerful EMP weapons are now available than back in its infancy . As for as me , I wouldn't be surprised if nothing " zero " with electrical components could survive an EMP of today's magnitude . --- According to the EMP expert even the U.S. military are out of luck in that regard Just a few places like Cheyene mountain can potentially survive an EMP attack with the powerful EMP weapons now available . -- The huge " and melted " electrical coil shown in the video should make anyone wonder , how their small electrical components could survive .

I am not sure any country would fire off an EMP, they would know that this is the opening salvo to WW3 and probably TEOTWAWKI. especially if the country attacked had a nuclear weapon of their own. it would mean nuclear armageddon for both countries. all this nuclear brinkmanship is just propaganda and bullying to achieve some political agenda.
any EMP attack would be the end of modern life as we know it and any survivors would have to revert to a pre industrial life style.
personally I am quite happy to live a pre industrial life style but then I've always been different to the norm!!

I have to go with LW. If an EMP was dropped, then we would strike back with everything we had and that would include all nuclear weapons. To invade or migrate to another country would require logistic that would no longer be available. Ships and planes would no longer exist, at least not in the numbers needed for an invasion fleet. Petrol and food supplies would not be available in the quantities needed. An EMP attack is the prelude to a Mad Max world. Economic and possibly biological attacks will be the chosen method of WW3. Infrastructure survives and the people die. When the people of a nation become desperate enough, they will accept any and every type of government that appears to offer them salvation. BANKRUPT a nation and the people will invite in anybody and everybody they think will help them out. Desperate people (sheeple) don't care what form of government controls them, as long as they can still get their FREE LUNCH.

EMP devices can be delivered by balloon, thus China testing its "weather balloon" over America.

Were I conducting a war, I'd go biologic before nuclear if I wanted to wipe-out a nation. If I had to go nuclear, I'd contaminate the farmlands before hitting the cities. The cities are going to have a die-off anyway. Maybe some nukes hither-thither in the megalopolises to panic and stampede the people. Biologic attacks if done properly can be blamed on other "bad-actor" nations, or on bio-terrorist groups -- bio isn't high tech at all.

Taking out ports is super-important. They are re-supply centers. Airports and coastal sea ports have to go. Railway hubs gotta be destroyed. Key industrial sites have to be taken out. Naval sea ports have to be annihilated to include those that have been de-commissioned. Decommissioned ports could be brought back into some form of service. Also, old military / naval facilities are turned into storage sites -- whether the citizenry knows this or not ... preferably not. Air Force bases new and old will also have to be annihilated. Must prevent the enemy from rebuilding.

Some places will be profoundly difficult to nuke-away. One of our storage sites consists of dozens of bunkers dug DEEP within a mountain. The bunkers are connected by railroads dug through the mountain's granite rock-bed. The enemy would have to have some super-special armaments to get through all of that. There are dozens of bunker openings photos which I could publish the satellite photos thereof. Not going to do that. Have a work-buddy from years ago who may still work there -- super fellow, great soul, easy to joke with. All of our enemies know about this place. Certainly no top secret to anyone. If you enter areas of that BIG swath of mountain forested area, you can get shot dead or blown to bits by mines. If there's a fence and it says to not pass this point, they are NOT kidding, you are an instant target. Hunting area butts up against this place and permits for hunting are issued -- you will be thoroughly checked-out before getting a permit.

The Y-12 plant in Oak Ridge, Tennessee works the same way, except that if you harvest a deer on those lands, the deer will have its antlers checked by Geiger counter. Radioactive strontium is taken up and used by the body as if it were calcium. Used to, 50% of the deer taken there couldn't be released due to radioactivity present in the critter. Radioactive wastes stay around for innumerable human lifetimes -- this is especially true of where the nuclear bombs used to be constructed.

Any use of a nuclear device will lead to an all out retaliation. So no nuclear war but bio warfare might be another possibility. Any country using a bio weapon will see bio weapons being used on it. Our government maybe next to useless in most things but it does know which bio weapons are being developed by which nations and can identify where the bio weapon came from. That is the 'TIT for TAT" response. Just like nuclear war is " MAD" -- (Mutually Assured Destruction) bio warfare follows along the same lines. Yes the infrastructure will be intact but every nation will be reduced to pre- black plague populations, Not enough resources left to attack anybody. Every nation will be struggling to just survive. They will not be venturing out towards other nations. Remember, If I have 100 men to defend with and you have 1,000, your are going to lose the battle. I have the advantage of knowing the terrain. I will have local resupply lines. I would be fighting to save my home and family. My motivation will be much stronger than some invaders. I still think that economic warfare will continue to be the weapon of choice. If you can bankrupt a nation, it is easier to get them to vote in their "Saviors". Never underestimate the stupidity of people. Just look at the GAY / Transgender people supporting Hamas.

"Any use of a nuclear device will lead to an all out retaliation."

    Nope.

The Pentagon has scenario rooms / situation rooms and in these areas, real and theoretical are plotted-out and in a real crisis, acted-out.

If multiple incoming ballistic warheads were to be detected coming from Russia or China, then yes, an all-out response is then triggered automatically. Super-computers track-back the trajectories to determine the origin of launch and direct any one of dozens of responses relative to the attack's origins.

If a half dozen come in, layers of land-based and even space-based anti-ballistic missile systems will neutralize these over the poles or over Canada (Canada, if they get too close before neutralization).

North Korea would be well advised to keep its mouth shut and keep its missiles where they currently reside. The same is true of rogue senior officers in Russia and China. We can detect the difference between a rogue attack and a state attack. Our responses are many.

Suffice it to say that I've worked with / known people who were/are-now involved in these areas of detection and command (D.C.). I couldn't even begin to figure-out how many technical and supervisory folk I've known in the realm of "high-tech". That was my world back then. After that first career (two decades), I went back into medical technology (two more decades). Before those decades, it was career-student (8 years university), then those 4+ decades ... my brain is toast ... dear Lord I am beyond tired. I don't want to do anything now, but life goes on I guess. Been working putting this rust-bucket truck back into working condition.

Want to fix plastic crap? Watch these videos:

    https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=super+glue+and+baking+soda

One guy I know who was a radar technician in a second-level NORAD facility once saw an "object" leave our airspace at a velocity that NOTHING we have, nor anything any other country has which could attain such a mind-numbing velocity. He saw only two or three blips (3, I don't think so; I think he said two registrations) and that big puppy went outside Earth's atmosphere in the north pole area. Space aliens going back home?!!!!! Needless to say, he was far beyond flabbergasted! When we were talking about this in his car, he was laughing, but he was totally shocked by the occurrence. I could instantly tell that this incident had gotten permanently burned into his memory. Man, this guy told me sooooo many stories that were precious, interesting, and some super-funny.

One Pentagon officer bragged too much to us. He and another military guy (a fellow I knew in high school I grew up with, same girlfriend it turned out) were such idiots back in those days. I worry about some Pentagon brass. They don't inspire confidence, let me say. Some however are totally brilliant, those guys make me feel more secure. I'm smart, but I want people who are a whole lot smarter than I am in control of critical operations. I'm too limited to be in charge of super-serious matters. I can't focus like others can. I want to understand too wide of an area. To be a commander, one must FOCUS their mind! I'm sooooo glad that I've met real-deal physicians, also.

One must know their limits and make their peace with that which their Creator has vested in them. It is wisdom to know one's limitations. In my life, I'm glad that I have been of some service. It's all that I have to offer -- however limited. One is who they are and no more. Pride is spiritual death.

Gotta go to bed. Holy crap, it's so late!!!!!!!

I think you proved my point about a nuclear attack. Even a rogue nuclear attack will be tracked and the offending country / location will be in deep doo-doo.

if a nuclear device was used we would be in WW3, anything else is cloud cuckoo land, there would be retaliation and it would be all out.

I am no expert on EMP matters as my life specialty was mainly traveling through woodlands and hostile terrain for Uncle Sam and a state government . So I am basing the following information obtained from the United States Government's EMP expert via the previously posted video . An EMP once burst in the atmosphere un-like a ground burst can not be traced or linked to the country of origin . A EMP launched from a sea vessel can not be confirmed as to which country launched it as the incoming trajectory tells nothing . However I do see an Achillies heal with this scheme . And that is identifying the ship's country of origin from which the EMP was launched . -- Interestingly North Korea did a test , launching a missile into the atmosphere to the desired height by opening up the top of a shipping container looking device from the deck of a cargo ship and launching their missile " successfully " . The missile obtained the proper height for an EMP detonation , but of course for the test was unarmed . -- So the possibility was put out by the United States Government's EMP expert that an EMP attack could be conducted without the attacked country knowing with any certainty whom attacked them , thus no retaliation .

One enlightening take-away from that report is that we are in phase wherein the Earth's magnetic field is weakening. This reduces our defense against solar flare ionizing radiation that gets shot our way. This is causing holes in the Earth's ozone layer.

Let's all wish for the Earth getting its magnetic field-strength back.

    --------------------

"Scientists discover how a reversal of Earth's magnetic field could affect our climate"

    https://www.skyatnightmagazine.com/space-science/earth-magnetic-field-reversal-affect-climate

"Solar radiation at the equator surges when Earth’s magnetic field reverses.

" ... variations in the flux of cosmic rays into Earth’s atmosphere have also been hypothesised to influence the terrestrial climate – perhaps by affecting atmospheric water condensation and the formation of clouds.

"And this may be particularly significant during the periods when Earth’s magnetic field reverses, and temporarily weakens.

"Jacob Svensmark, in the department of physics at the University of Oxford, has been studying the most recent occasion when Earth’s magnetic field underwent a reversal.

"This event, known as the Brunhes–Matuyama reversal, occurred around 780,000 years ago, and the big question is what impact this might have had on the ionisation within the atmosphere from cosmic rays.

"Svensmark used computer models to calculate atmospheric ionisation around the world as he varied the simulated magnetic field.

"As you might expect, he found that the increase in ionisation during the reversal was most pronounced around the equator of the planet.

"But Svensmark was able to calculate this enhancement in the ionisation rate to be about 25% at the equatorial surface as the magnetic field weakened, and over six times higher in the upper atmosphere.

"In contrast, he found almost zero change in polar regions, where cosmic rays already have much easier access.

"Overall, his model showed a 13% increase in ionisation at sea level around the globe and roughly a doubling at the top of the atmosphere.

"Svensmark notes that there appear to be correlations between the flux of cosmic rays reaching Earth’s atmosphere and the climate, although it is not entirely clear what mechanism might cause this.

"But if this is a real effect, it is important to understand the changes in the ionisation of the atmosphere during reversals of the magnetic field."

Earth's climate does periodically change . Mankind has little to nothing to do with it despite some politicians bid for power claiming they can change this phenonium if enough currency is funneled into the correct hands . Even tree stumps have been uncovered where ice has melted for enough back at least at one of earth's frozen pole regions . This suggests forests once grew at the now frozen ice caps .-- Though I am a little skeptical on the theory of the creation of oil from rotten dead dinosaurs , this points toward the now aired regions of the planet such as Saudi Arabia was once a flourishing plant rich area that supported huge quantities of dinosaurs . -- The bottom line is preppers need to think for themselves and prepare to overcome any climate change that may arise .

As of 7 AM central time we appear to have no large CME coming our way , only a minor one which may hit tonight . However the sun's most violent area is still taking it's rotation to face earth . It appears we will be able to enjoy another day unless some rogue country's leader should decide to liven up his day and EMP his envisioned enemy .

Just showing some EMP protection videos and EMP protection products.

The following video shows means by which you can protect electronics around your house, to include protecting your electrical generators and the wiring leading out of them.

My first career (20 yrs) was in the realm of Industrial Automation. Industrial electronics must be shielded from radiated and conducted electromagnetic noise due to in-house sources of radiant energy. Examples include MIG and TIG welding (TIG when welding aluminum). Note that these welding modalities can do damage to automobile electronics.

    Industrial sized units:

Here are some protection devices for electronics around your home:

If you are a welder, know that MIG and TIG welding can cause harm to your own body due to the EMFields this equipment generates.

an EMP would probably blow transformers and other connectors in the UK power grid, maybe sub stations as well, so there would be no electricity.
there is no point in protecting anything if there is no power to run it afterwards.

Above (Fri 3:20 PM), I posted this week commercial products that protect electronics. I recommend protecting electronics and buying generators. If no fuel, then use wind or solar to generate electricity.

Over the last few hours a huge " EMP " erupted and launched from the sun's surface . Lucky for earth it was " not " pointed directly at earth . We may get a weak hit from it's outer band . This is like playing Russian Roulet , every day . -- Preppers and especially the older generation predating cell phones , will easily absorb the loss of the electrical grid , communications and fuel pumps . However this may awaken the panic and the deer in the headlights look from the dependents of such devices . These type individuals will be a problem the prepared will have to deal with .

See above. I've listed EMP protection products. Also, one can find instructions on making Faraday cages.

Anti-EMP sheeting is available. Wiring is sewn into the fabric so as to render it appropriate for a Faraday container.

    upload_2024-1-29_18-16-18.png

Me, I'm not counting on keeping electricity going. I've got non-electrical methodologies. However, one can protect communication equipment in Faraday bags and shielded boxes.

The freaking planets are lining-up (after a fashion) AND there's a bloody comet with a devilish name passing. Call me superstitious, but the ancient tribesman deep in my soul is getting hinky about all of this. Y'know, I've said that I've brought two large water tanks into our house (space taker-upper!); well, I'm gonna fill these puppies ... like, this coming week. I bought the sink faucet to garden hose adapter; now I'm gonna get me a dedicated hose tomorrow and blow that puppy out and clean it. I'm thinking about putting the full tanks out on our back deck. Wifer told me tonight to use one of our tarps to cover them so as to protect the containers from sun damage. Great idea girl!!!!!! Plastic can degrade in the sun.

If our power goes out, I've now put on stores of wicking (kerosene lamps and candles), clean kerosene multiple containers (gallon ea.), clean water (one can add chlorine, but gosh our water has chlorine), able to store and filter river and mountain stream water, spare gasoline tanks filled, truck,s huge tank is full, ... . Anybody wanting to steal our supplies will get shot. I'm certain I've forgotten this or that, but as an old fart, I've done what I can.

Young fellow who is a vehicle mechanic lives a short walk away. He's a new dad, so I've things he may need. Storing powdered milk w/vacuum Mason Jar technique. Made friends with two or three other mechanics / welders ... I've a generator if they need to weld whatever. Son has practiced welding. We could form crews to obtain fuel via means necessary. One crew keeps pit bulls as guard dogs = approach with caution ... make sure the mean one among them is chained ... saw it go after another dog = not a nice doggy. Once came for me, but it was on a 10ft chain.

Put back spare meds and antibiotics. Lots of first aid preps to include chest-seal patches and coagulation hemorrhage-stopping products. Some suturing, lidocaine for superficial injuries. Got my CAT tourniquets, splinting, ... the things for horrible injuries. Post-SHTF, injuries will be very common.

Oh ... on and on ... shoot, we've done what we can do. Seems it's gonna hit the fan pretty soon now.

Bought two of these ....to vacuum seal Mason Jars...of recent and have been slowly stocking up on said Mason Jars.

Amazon.com: LOVE MOMENT Electric Mason Jar Vacuum Sealer Kit for Wide Mouth and Regular Mouth Mason Jars: Home & Kitchen

This...though I also have the Food Saver vacuum sealer...wtih the Mason Jar Attachment....and hose..but these gadgets are not only rechargeable..but more portable...as well.

I have been vacuum sealing a lot of pasta of different types...into Mason Jars and will be covering them with dark plastic bags..to keep the light out

Until recent...I had no idea these gadgets came in rechargeable.

Will be purchasing more pasta of all types and also more Mason Jars..

I bought the same product, but have yet to getting around to using it. Powdered milk could be a problem in that the aerosolised power could jam the vacuum mechanism. The work-around is to put the powder into a plastic back that isn't fully sealed (?). Will have to experiment.

https://spaceweathernews.com/ --- TEN more Coronal mass ejections have now erupted from the sun over the last few hours . The last ten will not present a significant threat to earth . Planet or other solar alignments seem to be having its effect . The next week or two will be interesting for preppers , perhaps terrifying to sheeple . On top of that is the effect it will have moving earths earthquake fault lines .

I was...speaking with a friend on my ham radio while waiting for my lady to come out of the store today....and we were discussing the electric power going down for weeks at a time...even months....

For some reason ...what occurred to me is that most stores and business establishments use electronic cash registers now days..

I know of only one business in this town which still has and uses a manual cash register and it is a huge one...with the marble white stone on the front of it above the cash drawer...all mechanical and the electronic cash register people have offered to give him free...a modern electronic cash register for his old Mechanical one...and he will not do it.

My hat is off to this fellow running this business.

It occurred to me how many business would be out of business for a long time if they had no back up systems in place...should the electricity go down for weeks to months....

We are just too dependent on electric systems.....should the power go down. So few out here are able to do a manual overide....

Not just the electricity going down but if the computer systems by themselves go down ....commerce comes to a stop...

    Just my non Ishmaelite .02,

there arent any stores these days that have manual override , if the power goes off the till wont open and card readers wont work either.
I worked in a hardware shop over 50 years ago ( for 12 months between construction sites) that had a manual handle if the power went off but no one has them now.
