My husband and I are both retired and have downsized to a small rural home atop the Cumberland Plateau of Tennessee. We have 5 adult children and 7 grandchildren. We are both avid gardeners and my husband is an ex Military Policeman. He is an avid outdoorsman. I enjoy canning, dehydrating, quilting, knitting and most needle arts. We both love to fish. Looking forward to learning and sharing with like minded people.

    Good morning Dirt Diva,

    Welcome to the Forum.

Speaking of needle arts, just received my Gutermann long axis, narrow spools, thread order for evac kit upgrade.

Again, a welcome from your nearby neighbor........

    Welcome to the boards...

My friend who moved out of here in Virginia ….is east of Johnson City, Tennessee...and up in the mountains....way back in there.

I go to visit him on occasion....and we also keep in touch via ham radio...as well as land line....but prefer the long range radio.

I like it out there and often stop by Sheri and JP's chicken house in Mountain City for lunch.

    Love catching and eating fish....

In like manner to Pragmatist....welcome from the Chesapeake Bay of Virginia.

Welcome from Alaska! I briefly made the upper Cumberland home around the Pall Mall area a few decades ago after retiring from the military. Nice productive area. Somehow I drifted a bit north!

Just up the ridge from me. Beautiful area. Have no intention of drifting any further north. We drifted south to reduce the dreaded cold white stuff.

Agree, I really dislike the white fluffy stuff.

We drifted south to the bayous along the Mississippi before heading north. I know that you live in a very special area. I loved the fall time in the upper Cumberland!

I am blessed in that I grew up right outside of New Orleans in Louisiana. Grew up right on the water. With 4 brothers I fished and hunted right along with the boys. Ran trot lines and crab traps since I could walk just about. When husband and I retired this was our choice of areas to retire to. It is truly a beautiful place. Almost humbling. Thankful that I have known such beauty in my life between the swamps and the mountains.
