Good afternoon Old Geezer and TMT,

I have a different "spin" to this.

I'm not saying 4 November onward will be parties in the streets along with ticker tape parades. I just do not think anything like the hot weather 1968 nationwide city riots will occur throughout what's left of our fruited plain.

In 2 weeks, much of the country will be cold - as compared to summer, at least . The White House can close down electricity in large areas. Roads closed. No fast food restaurants, no convenience stores open. Hospital access is severly limited and it's not even in the city itself.

"Only fools and sages make predictions and I am no sage." Anon.

The Trump cities/areas will have full protection. Think of D.C., Hampton Roads, Houston to LOOP Louisiana corridor.

Places like Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, Chicago, the Ohio cities, - won't even mention the PAcific coast - are matters for Governors and Mayors to handle.

Maybe there is a ticker tape parade here somewhere !

    You make a point.

Maybe society's trash will go into hibernation and warm back up in the spring to continue their festivities.

However, the aggressors have now been given the go-ahead to pillage ordered society. It is now their's to pick the times and the places they choose to vent and loot. The ready availability of victims is the cause of crime and aggression.

    The sheeple will cower.

We preppers will be honing our survival skills, especially our shooting skills.

Survival tip: I make pellet stops for our fireplace so that some indoor shooting can be accomplished (after shoveling out the ashes, of course). Rapidly bringing a rifle to the shoulder and acquiring the sights is just something you gotta continually reinforce in the brain's circuitry. Even though I've been a shooter for over a half-century, brain circuits are what they are -- they need perpetual reinforcement. Too one must consider having to keep up a volley of fire for minutes, then returning to constant fire should be there be a break in fighting. No matter where you live, you can be overrun.

Snap caps are great, HOWEVER you gotta be über-careful not to chamber live rounds!

Organized crime targeting agriculture is re-visiting rural America -- it isn't just the drug trade and their wars. Gangs are now on the road. Happens here and all over. Rural Germany. Rural England.

    https://www.mcclatchydc.com/news/nation-world/world/article24737455.html

    https://www.devonlive.com/news/devon-news/rural-crime-costing-south-west-4392817

During the 1970s in America there was a period wherein meat prices went through the ceiling. This resulted in the ancient crime of cattle-rustling. Imagining that rural sheriff's deputies can handle such a thing proves that a person is brain damaged. So farmers put out armed guards. I work-mate of mine hired on with a rancher to pull 3rd shift with his .35 Remington lever-action Marlin rifle.

Might makes right. Whether in Germany, or America, or England, you gotta shoot the interlopers. Threatening scummy "people" with jail time is a joke. Especially after it hits the fan, criminals have to get "disappeared". Remember, you'll have to be able to shoot through the sides of trucks to take-out the trash. Bust the engine block to disable the truck and reclaim your equipment and livestock. Strip the usable parts from the truck, then use use your tractor/backhoe to pull the truck and its occupants to the place where you are going to bury them.

I shifted my scope off my AR15 -- 7.62 x 39 for just those quick type shots. The limited range of that caliber really did not warrant a 6 x 24 scope. It now has a nice red dot. I reinstalled the scope on my Sako 243. That made a bit more sense. I think I would shoot out the rustler's tires as they are easier to disable. FMJ rounds to shoot through the body, vehicle and critter.

Your sighting equip / rifle combos make a lot of sense. I put a red dot on a little carbine and it does super well. I keep fistfuls of batteries for the red dot, because every so often I forget to turn off the unit and it eats a battery; idiot me. Laser sights, you know when the laser sight is on.
I've watched people run on the rims. Working late one night, go out to parking area, down a long section of road beside parking area goes a car on a rim (right front). Actually I think that wheel had locked-up on him. Anyway, the rim was throwing a rooster tail of fire. How was he able to steer that?! Who knows. People are crazy.

    https://www.breitbart.com/law-and-o...land-as-protesters-call-them-nazi-terrorists/

Left-wing terrorists call law enforcement officers "f__ing NAZIs"'.

Why is it that the Left simply loves using the F word perpetually? I get mad and drop the F-bomb. But to obsess on this word is just kind'a odd. I guess that if one has no real vocabulary, the F word comes in really handy. Another reason could be that people who are ruled by their glandular activities seem always in some sort of emotional stir. They are very in love (sexual arousal passes for love in certain quarters). They are very angry. They are very happy, especially when they are partying, then they get very angry and begin shooting their once-friends with their stolen firearms. Witness how Hollywood worships all things related to sex and sexual perversions. It is all base behaviors. The word "oppression" has gained favor. If you aren't smart enough or not motivated enough to make it in life, you can always be "oppressed".

    Higher cancer rates among homosexuals

    https://www.webmd.com/sexual-condit.../hpv-blamed-for-rising-rates-of-anal-cancer#1

For decades now, the medical community has been aware of homosexual men being at increased risk of rectal and anal cancers. A few years back, I read a medical article concerning a study wherein the risk of homosexual men developing rectal cancer was found to be 6x that of the overall population of adult males.

    https://www.lavendermagazine.com/our-lives/the-next-gay-plague-anal-cancer/

Nowadays, physicians are performing more anal PAP smears.

    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19689440/

Gay bowel syndrome, this condition has been deemed politically incorrect to talk about, however physicians must treat this condition on a weekly basis, especially if they treat numerous homosexual males.

    https://medical-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/gay+bowel+syndrome
    ====================

Lifestyles of homosexual women put them at higher risk of cancers. If a woman never bears a child (nulliparity) and thus never nurses a baby, her estrogen levels over time are constantly high -- there are no breaks. Estrogen without periods of high progesterone lead to breast cancer. In centuries past, breast cancer was rare, even among elderly women. Social drinking doubles or triples her estrogen levels, i.e. not good for breast health.

    Abstract
Purpose: Several studies indicate that sexual minority (e.g., bisexual, lesbian) women may be at an increased risk for breast cancer. However, we know little about how risk factors, such as benign breast disease (BBD)-which can confer nearly a fourfold breast cancer risk increase-may vary across sexual orientation groups.

    https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31894493/

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravidity_and_parity#Nulliparity

    "Nulliparity
"A nulliparous (/nʌlˈɪpərəs/) woman (a nullipara or para 0) has never given birth. It includes women who have experienced spontaneous miscarriages and induced abortions before the mid-point of pregnancy, but not women who have experienced pregnancy loss after 20 weeks.

"Prolonged nulliparity (/ˌnʌlɪˈpærɪti/) is a risk factor for breast cancer. For instance, a meta-analysis of 8 population-based studies in the Nordic countries found that never giving birth was associated with a 30% increase in the risk of breast cancer compared with women who have given birth, and for every 2 births, the risk was reduced by about 16%. Women having their first birth after the age of 35 years had a 40% increased risk compared to those with a first birth before the age of 20 years."
Ewertz M, Duffy SW, Adami HO, et al. (1990). "Age at first birth, parity and risk of breast cancer: A meta-analysis of 8 studies from the Nordic countries". International Journal of Cancer. 46 (4): 597–603. doi:10.1002/ijc.2910460408. PMID 2145231.

My wife is one of the hundreds of millions of Catholics who consider John Paul II as being the last pope. Anti-Christian secular beliefs are infecting and destroying the Church. Communist revolutionary dogma is replacing Biblical teachings.

Leviticus 18:22 - Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination.

Genesis 2:24 - Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.

Of course, in this day and age, the "progressives" are burning Bibles. They wish to continue executing The Christ until He stays in His grave.

one of my previous neighbours, back about 40 years ago, was a retired nurse who used to work on a homosexual ward, both men and women, the mens backsides used to collapse because of their activity in that area, but the men were much more respectful of the nurses, the women (lesbians) we really nasty according to my old neighbour.

if you go back and actually watch the vid from the debate you will see biden got the ball rolling on interruptions just as the second/third question was being answered/rebutted by trump. thats no excuse for what happened but lets not just blame trump for the interruptions.

Biden did interrupt...but not over 100 times did he so while two wrongs don't make a right Trump showed his true self...a loud mouthed bully boy. He relies on shouting louder than the opposition, thats a part of his game play but muting the mic will cut this down and I'd bet he's really pissed off about it.

Good to see his wife out there standing by his side on the campaign trail ;)

Biden needs his wife/mommy to prop him up and wipe his chin.

Biden is very easy to bully. Now that his brain is turning into oatmeal, he's the sickly child on the playground. The bad guys of the world will use him and/or Kamala like a punching bag. Of course there is the matter of Kamala being on the side of America's enemies.

If Biden were to win(I dont think he will) he wouldnt be in the job for 5 minutes before the VP had to take over, that is who the voters would get and maybe thats what they need to think about.

Maybe thats not a bad thing. Trump and Biden are both well into their 70s which is too old for the job and a couple of friends in the States doubt he'll last the full term of office but at least Trump is out.

Trump could still swing it his way, most presidents get two terms before the boot but if he goes fours years is not a long time for the Democrats to repair the internal and international damage he has done to his country; they'd need two terms to get things back on an even keel.

What we are witnessing is the fake news promoted " one world order " and those that took the bait believing the news feed to be real . This alternate reality , if allowed to grow could very well usher in the New One world Order with its Communism Government . All the more reason to be a prepper and preparing for indefinite independence through self sufficiency . Living under the Chinese Credit system packed into cramped , stacked and packed housing boxes is not something my group or I plan to submit to . As that tv show proclaimed " Live Free Or Die " . --- I don't have a magic future forseeing ball but belive the odds are in favor that Trump will be re-elected and that term followed by another Republican Freedom Loving President . However unless the Democrat / communist party dissolves they will eventually gain the power they seek . At that point all freedom in the U.S. will be gone . Even the actual history of the U.S. will be rewritten to show how terrible the U.S. once was and how the Communist saved it . Even North Korea tries to convince their citizens as to how fortunate they are to live in their Communist Country .

Should there be a leftist takeover of America there is one thing that I myself have not thought about, but was stupid of me not to think about. That is the release of prison inmates into society. We already have dangerous felons being released into communities and dangerous felons not being prosecuted in the first place, but what about mass-releases of felons. The Left considers minority felons to be among the oppressed and thus not guilty of true crime, just righteous redistribution.

The following articles concern "peaceful protesters" attacking a prison in Lagos, Nigeria. The attack was successful only in that just a few prisoners were able to make it to the streets. The police moved-in and stopped the attack on the prison and did their best to restore order to the chaos. The media, of course, deemed police actions as police brutality. Anytime the tantrum aggressors get thwarted the media paints the action as "oppression", because that word is sacred in Secular Humanist canon.

    ...........................................................

OK, how does this relate to the USA?

    https://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/20...ist-strategy-destroy-united-joseph-hippolito/

"Even the quest to defund the police embraces Marxist ideology. These words Mann wrote in 1999 express attitudes that are all-too-familiar to today's Americans:

"The Black Panthers in particular argued that the prisons and police were colonial instruments, and thus bourgeois concepts of 'crime' or 'innocence and guilt' could not be used to justify the military occupation of an oppressed community. The demands to free all political prisoners including all black men and women were based on the assumption that the greatest danger to the black community was not black-on-black crime, but police-on-black crime. Armed self-defense groups, community patrols to monitor police behavior and the demands for the most stringent police review boards were efforts to structurally reduce police brutality by placing the police under black civilian authority."

    https://twitter.com/MrAndyNgo/status/1294107924910837761?s=03

It it my belief that as president Kamala Harris will release black criminals due to their having been "oppressed by the privileged white aggressors".

    https://www.sgtreport.com/2020/09/fact-kamala-harris-told-supporters-to-post-bail-for-child-rapist/

"A Black Lives Matter (BLM) 'protester' who vice presidential hopeful Kamala Harris urged her followers to help bail out of jail was previously charged with raping an eight-year-old girl back in 2015.

"Timothy Wayne Columbus, 36, faces up to 30 years in prison for allegedly sexually assaulting the pre-pubescent minor, though he was released from a Minneapolis jail back in early July with the help of Harris, who successfully raised $75,000 for his bail.

“'One day after his release,' reports indicate, 'Columbus signed a document asking the court to return any refunded bail to the MFF (Minnesota Freedom Fund), indicating that the fund played a role in securing his release from jail,' reported the Daily Caller News Foundation (DCNF), citing a court document it obtained."

    https://www.sfgate.com/politics/article/Kamala-Harris-prisoner-voting-rights-convicted-13790192.php

Chinacoronavirus being used as excuse to release prisoners:

    https://www.foxnews.com/politics/de...oners-as-possible-due-to-coronavirus-pandemic

Given the above, I believe that suburban preppers should take into account the very real possibility that the more aggressive elements of society could be released even before an economic collapse. Post-SHTF, one should just figure that the worst of the worst will be out and about. That's kind of a given. However, released criminals could be a part of the war against civilization prior to a collapse. All the more reason to distance one's self very FAR from the madness.

Most preppers want to distance themselves now, however we have people reading the posts on our site who are going to try to make it in the 'burbs after things go royally sideways. I do not wish to create false panic, however the darkness is approaching at a rapid pace and if you study the profoundly unpleasant realities of what could easily play-out, you may just reconsider prepping in place -- especially if your place is too close to the infernos that will be our cities. I cannot offer advice as to where you should seek refuge. Many small towns will NOT be happy about your arrival. So, friends, family, whoever, make your contacts and your plans right now. After the upcoming election, there is every possibility that things will go bad in America.

    Good morning Dale and F22,

Dale; Had been looking for your original post but couldn't find it. Now, it's above.

The Benghazi matter got David Petrseus to resign as DCI - Dir CIA. This occured about a week before he was scheduled to testify before Congress. The public reason was said to be a love scandal with his biographer. The biographer Paula Broadwell was under investigation by the FBI for the publicly-released lover's quarrel involving another woman.

No actual sex scandals involved ..... all this is coup d' stuff involving US international relations.

A good post. It is obvious what some consider rural is what I consider the suburbs . It makes me think of that old movie " NEMROD " with that Stewart guy staring in it . His definition of a city was " if you can hear your neighbor shoot his gun , you are living in a city ". There aren't many places left that would fit that description anymore . But some places are definitely more remote than others . Where some of our members live and consider themselves living in a rural area is amazing to me . Probably it is too late now to establish a remote survival retreat but if I didn't already live in one , I would be trying to establish one at a very fast pace .

in the UK a suburb is usually classified as the outer limits of a city, where I used to live (20 years ago)was such a place and had a village feel to it, in fact it was referred to as such by name.
it had its own shops, own pharmacy, health centre, even a library. no need to leave such a place if you didnt have to, all life's necessities were there. not really rural although it was surrounded by woods and a creek.

Just as is the case with London, American "urban sprawl" can fan-out for miles and miles.

    Good afternoon Old Geezer,

There are programs at work to thin out the overbuilt Atlantic seaboard. D.C. has already moved some of it's agencies westward. For example, DIA left Bolling AFB, D.C. for metro Charlottesville, VA. Key FBI organizations are no longer based in Quantico, VA and are in West Virginia.

The closing down of the subsidized tidal flood insurance will thin out coastal Virginia to include Hampton Roads.

Telecommuting has Federal civil servants relocating to the Shendandoah Valley, Appalachia and non-Appalachia areas of West Virginia.

Once the Fed money faucets are closed and, for example, colleges and other institutes of lower education experience financial problems, they will move or liquidate.

    "Oh, what a beautiful morning ...... "

    Good afternoon Poltiregist,

For the 20 and 30 year olds, w/ or w/o families started, the lowest common denominator is a job. Until only months ago, the jobs were in the urban - surbuban spraul areas, especially the East Coast.

All of these areas are not like the disease filth urban - surburban areas of eg New York City and Baltimore.

The new survival retreat no longer has the priority of a gamma ray protected underground bunker. The basics still govern and are present: water, food, shelter, and the add-ons: high-quality medical/health care, premium safety and security, equipment, repair materials, parts, ... the rest.

The urban -surburb Preppers have above.

Their neighborhoods are safe. Those areas with neighborhood watch programs ... it's not widowed grandma sitting at window with binoculars ... they are sophisticated garrisons.

No intruders, one or a large roving mob will be entering some of these "quaint" neighborhoods.

Lessons learned from the 1968 riots and for this area, the beltway sniper incident matter, are studied by these 20 and 30 year olds and addressed.

I've given some classes to some young Preppers.

I am someone that can't seem to change with time . I remember a trip I took into the mountains of North Carolina to back pack in on a bear hunt . I called a ranger and asked if I could leave my vehicle at a camping spot I saw on a map . He told me sure , during the fall there will be nobody there but you and said " we have been expecting you " . I had bought my hunting license by mail and they knew I was coming to their area . He was right the camp ground was deserted and I arrived to witness one of the most colorful falls that I have ever seen . Now that camp ground is filled to the brim especially during the fall . That area became so crowded with people that I stopped going there . --- Same thing with the state I grew up in . What had once been a dirt road when I was young is now practically a highway . I couldn't adapt to all the people . I abandoned my paid for house and left with my family to start over in a more rural area , back on a dirt road . I had the house I abandoned burned to the ground a few months ago to keep squatters out . -- I definitely am old school . My present lifestyle is a throwback of several decades ago . Like most of our rural living Grandparents prepping and self reliance to me and my group is about as natural as breathing . Perhaps I got this adaption problem from my grandfather . He rode a horse to work . He finally quite a good paying job when his boss told him he would have to buy a car . His decision was to keep riding his horse and live out of the woods for his food and to hell with that job . He raised a family down in those remote woods with no job and no government subsidizes . I grew up living about 80 yards from his house and he taught me many secrets of a survivalist . Many mornings I would walk over to his house to share a pot of coffee .

One has to become educated to be this naturally stupid and miss so much in both history and religion....and then ascend to a leading religious office...

Only education can dumb people down this far....Particularly a secular education ...to where people do not know nor are aware that there is another line of thinking....

This tells the reader clearly into what religion the Pope has been educated.

Thinking educated people are so much much more than sex and sexuality....sexual orientation...yet this very fingerprint ..sex and sexuality..sexual orientation is now being used/misused to prevent people from thinking for themselves but to join the world and world system in lock step stupidity.

Education is discipline..in thinking and thereby performance.....doing and getting things done by virtue of ones education ...thinking process...ability to think and make adjustments....to ones life...lives.

Thinking people do not ever define who and what they are by sex, sexuality, sexual orientation or whatever worldly nonsense is become popular with the changing winds..

But it does make for malleable, controllable, guaranteed, emotional voters...easily controlled and regulated by the changing winds..

Thinking, disciplined, educated people are so much more than sex, sexuality, sexual orientation.

Yet if you listen carefully to the nonsense being promoted by government, public education, leadership, and of course our true de facto leadership in Hollywood...life is all about sex, sexuality, sexual orientation....no thinking allowed...only emoting allowed in order to more easily lead and mislead you to a voting booth.

This requires primarily a television and or movie education in instant gratification ..not thinking for ones self....and often times someone or something substituting your thinking and emotions for theirs...via engineered and designed "Victimhood dogma."

Forcing, bullying, promoting sex, sexuality, sexual orientation on people against their will and over their objections ..or on people not interested under the cover of diversity, inclusiveness, and tolerance....is mental and social rape...

As a good woman taught me....may she rest in Peace.....what these people are d0ing in sneaking in the back door and promoting this stuff in public schools is stealing the very childhood from our children and bringing them into adulthood before their time...

You have to be seriously educated in stupid to do this to unprotected, vulnerable, easily brainwashed children .

No thinking person or human defines what and whom they are by sex, sexual orientation, sexuality and then expects, yea...demands that others go along with it or be silent...

This is the mental, social, bullying rape part...in like manner to Critical Race Theory...in it's practice....sneaking in the back door to promote this religious dogma...belief system.
Because these people know that most thinking individuals will not buy into it...it must be forced upon them against their will and over their objections in a cloistered protected enviornment...just like Critical Race Theory....
This also tells you that the same people pushing....the sexual agendas on a mostly unsuspecting people are the same people pushing Critical Race Theory..

For thinking educated, disciplined humans are so much more than this....even more than race.....much much more and history is replete with this example....

For those of you who can see, hear, and understand....you will sense that almost all of such programs are of the flesh..and down play the spirit...if one even understands what that means and implies.

For a Pope to promote this kind of thing is a clear example of how far the Catholic Church has "Fallen."

Fallen to the world system......the god of this world.

For a Christian defines themselves by the God who lives in them 24/7...not the values, thinking and religion of this world...the god of this world.

You gotta be educated to become this naturally stupid and think people do not notice or connect the dots..

I am not speaking against sex, sexuality, or sexual orientation per se.....but against stupidity.....run wild...

If the very best that men have is sex, sexuality, sexual orientation....even race....men are no more evolved than four legged wild animals...no matter how much education they claim to have...

You gotta be educated into secular thinking to not catch this going on around you.....

    How have the mighty fallen.....

Theses things..indexes are for the purpose of collapsing the United States of America..not promoting it...nor advancing it.....

Making us no better than wild animals who must needs be herded ..controlled and regulated by those who think themselves our betters and who abhor individuality ....and or prefer herding.

    Ishmaelites run wild...

There are a lot of "facilities" in WV these days that the majority of the U.S. population knows nothing about. Currently, the navy SEALS are training at my local lake, even though they are stationed in Virginia. We even have new underground facilities that most know nothing about. A lot of communication facilities.

To me, the funniest thing about all of this is the simple fact that if Trump wins and if there are riots those riots are going to almost totally be in places that most likely supported Biden strongly. those riots can't happen in places that have a more conservative mindset because in those places people have a right to defend themselves and their property. A riot in Houston, even though it is liberal as hell by texas standards, would be a blood bath and over ith almost as soon as it started. the thugs will run around with their Saturday Night specials and clubs and the conservatives will introduce them to assault rifles, deer rifles, handguns with big magazines, and riot guns. If they were to come over the fence onto my property I would drop a dozen or so of them before they could get halfway across my yard to my house.

I'm with old Geezer in that I gave up on the lighter assault weapons. For defending my home I am not concerned about the weight of the gun or the ammo and want stoppers. I went to 7.62 calibers and 12 gauge when I settled in place. You don't need to double or triple tap people when you hit them in the chest with a slug, buckshot or a 150-grain hollow point bullet scooting along at over 3000FPS. I have seen the damage that these do in deer and don't see a person doing much after that sort of damage. The military ball ammo is designed to specifically cause injury without killing the target. I only use ball ammo for target shooting or shooting people silly enough to hide behind cars and trucks and then reload with quality hollow-point bullets. I have done extensive experiments in a junkyard and assure you that if you hide behind a car and are not behind the engine you are in trouble.

Much to my surprise, the little 9mm was the best handgun round for penetration through cars better by far than a 45 ACP and a little better than a 357 mag. The 357 might have done better but I didn't have any FMJ in that loading. I do have a thousand rounds loaded with FMJ now for cars and truck and then another 3000 in 125 gr, JHP I am not big on pistol shooting for defense and since I am going to be at home I will have better. My handgun is for up-close holy crap shots where I want a big stopper and not just holes in a pissed off attacker. I figure it it will drop a charging hog it will do about the same to a man. For my use the 125 gr hollow points loaded to the max just do better than a heavier bullet that isn't going as fast. the only place where a heavier bullet is better is head-on headshots but even then I have never had a 125 bounce off.

We have a lot of hogs and most landowners that aren't running cattle will happily let you kill some hogs for them. They are destructive as hell and breed like RATS! They do make good test subjects for loads though. I watched a guy shoot a boar 7 times in the side with an AR 5.56 with FMJ and it still ran off and didn't seem to be slowed down. Had it been coming for him he might have gotten eaten up. I think that they are sort of like people on drugs and you have to stop the heart or blow out the brain to stop them. I never go into the woods now without at least my 357 loaded up with heavy loads. For brush hunting them most people here like a 44 mag in a lever-action or a 12 ga with slugs and buckshot. I judge a lot of guns and loads based on how they do on hogs. We now have 1.7 million hogs and an ever-growing population of them. People are encouraged to kill them on sight.

I can imagine a time when liberals in Texas might be seen in similar light...Distructive, useless, invading my property...TARGETS!

Confession: My real reason for liking the .357 is that it is a light rifle. The revolver aspect is that I'm nostalgic, add the reality that when you pull the trigger, it will go Boom. If a round is defective or an out right dead primer, pull the trigger again. I've had very few smokestack jams with a revolver. Why a 9mm? To get me to a pump shotgun.

In the coming chaos / what to do if your car is surrounded: Folding butt-stock shotgun with extended magazine tube.

TD, we tend to think alike. I loaded 1,000 rounds of 124 grn. 9 mm hollow points and they are hot, too hot to shoot in a sub-compact, ask me how I know. Even my full size 9 mm lets you know these are hot rounds. I can't give out the velocity, as the rains came just before I started to choreograph them. I do have a about 1,000 FMJ 115 grn. They are factory but will get the job done. Like you, I want 7 .62 for my closer work. In fact I pulled the scope off and installed a red dot for even faster target acquisition. Shot gun for up close and messy work. I can reach the vermin starting out at 1,000 yards. Once these critters close withing 400 yards I will switch to the 556. Then 150 yards and in we shift to the 7.62. Plenty of ammo, mags and practice time. I do hit what I shoot at.

One of the things that I like about the 357 mag is that I also have it in a handy Winchester little carbine. With good loads, it will take anything in Texas down. We don't have bears here nor any of the bigger deer type critters like elk or moose. It is a total pleasure to shoot and is all I need for brush hunting where all shots will be less than about 75 yards. A 44 mag can also be had in a complementary handgun and rifle pairs but is not a pleasure in either to me. To me, a 44 mag in a carbine kicks harder than a 7mm mag in a bolt action rifle.

I think it has to do with my size and shape. I am big and very broad. I love the carbine actions but they are sort of short stocked for me. It doesn't matter with the 357 mag but a 44mag is one of the few gun ammo combinations that has actually bruised me. When I shoulder it, my pectoral muscle gets up under the edge of the butt and it is just not good. I have no problem with recoil in a fulls sized rifle and even like the heavier magnums. It is only with the Winchester carbines that I seem to have a problem. With assorted hand loads, I can hunt anything from bunnies to hogs and deer.

I was probably one of the last of my friends to give into the 9mm craze. the weapons that shoot it just got better and better until they are just too handy not to have. My wife still prefers her snubbie that I load for but I have gone to a small 9mm for my pocket gun. It is also hard to argue with the firepower that the high capacity 9mm auto offers. I may have to tap a target a couple of times to accomplish what I would do with one round from my 357 mag but I can tap a lot of targets with a 15 round mag and then slap another in. They have also greatly improved the available loads for the 9mm over the last few years. When ball ammo was all that was offered it just didn't impress me very much.

The similarities in our firearms preferences borders on freaky. The .357 combo; I've got a revolver + Win. Trapper. Wife has a snubbie I got for her.

Friend introduced me to the 9mm auto. I only had a .22 auto target pistol and some revolver. Friend was also a nostalgia nut. Bought a couple WWII era P38 autos; one was German civilian. I can't hit the broad side of a barn with a P38. Bought me an Egyptian Helwan -- Beretta built a factory in Egypt that cranked out their Model 52. That weapon though of very low quality, I could shoot far more accurately. At the time, I wished to spend no real money on a handgun (got rid of the thing). Eventually bought a Browning High Power. The Browning was mega accurate, so my bigotries against semi-auto handguns was lost. Still, I only think of handguns as a stopgap in at survival situation.

A .357 with good adjustable sights is closer to my heart. One can hunt with it if need be. My target .22 can bring in small game. My paternal grandfather would at night spotlight rabbits from his car and pop their heads off with his .32-20. His thinking, "Why go to the butcher shop and buy meat when there are rabbits along the road?" Out of necessity, he drove the country roads.

"Remember the riots?  They’re still happening"

" ... A look at the Portland police Twitter page from the last few nights shows yet another march and confrontation with police. (Nobody bothers to keep count of the number of consecutive nights there has been violence.) “The march has arrived at the new courthouse at 1200 SW 1st Ave.,” police tweeted between 10 p.m. and 11 p.m. local time Sunday, Oct. 4. “Some participants have begun vandalizing the building. Do not do this. You are subject to arrest. To the van supporting the march: it is unsafe and illegal to drive the wrong way on a 1-way.” As the marchers continued, police warned, “Vandalism to the courthouse will not be tolerated. If you commit vandalism you are subject to arrest or use of force.”

"Remember when Democratic leaders and their allies in the media blamed it all on Trump? With the president nursing his illness 2,800 miles away, and with Democrats and media talkers consumed by other stories, the protests have continued. In Portland, the most recent targeted a brand-new $324 million courthouse, just opening this week. Six people were arrested.

    ..............

"So perhaps Biden should call antifa a violent movement. But put semantics aside. Maybe if the violence were covered more in the media, Biden would be forced to actually confront it. But for now, remember that violence and unrest are indeed still going on — even if they don’t make the news."

    Wow TexDanm....

That's rough Tex....rough...but it does fit.

I too like the pistol/rifle combination in the same calibration and started with the .38/.357 Magnum in a GP 100. This line of thinking got me to wanting the lever rile and thus purchased a Henry.

Wound up doing the same for my Blackhawk in .41 Magnum....the Henry rifle.

Have a very accurate Ruger Government .22 target pistol and also decided the Henry would match it nicely.

But.......like many here...am not that in favor of the .223/5/56mm calibration though I have it ..even in a heavy Barreled bolt gun....and a Contender Pistol and other tools.

I just like the .308s...and also they are available coast to coast.

Several bolt guns in this calibration .308 as well as the 30.06.....and they are a reloaders dream in components/combinations available.

Studying an AR platform in .308...and in like manner to the Ruger Precision rifle recently acquired...they are a bit pricey.

Will continue to study this...AR platform in .308 caliber...

Again I will say it, the .41 mag is the best revolver cartridge. That Henry Arms chambered a rifle in this caliber is raw genius. The .41 mag will do what a .44 mag will do with much less powder and recoil. One needs nothing more than a .41 mag for deer-hunting in close quarters. Eastern white-tail deer get destroyed when hit with too much energy. Wasting meat is a sin if it can be avoided. People with smaller hands may find the .357 more to their liking; men with larger hands find the grips of an N-frame Smith to be a perfect fit. In a single-action revolver, the .41 is perfect.

"Kanye West has put pro-life issues at the center of his 2020 presidential campaign. So it was no surprise when the fashion mogul and Grammy-winner said during an interview with Joe Rogan that black Americans are “in genocide” because of an “abortion culture” in America in which 1,000 black babies are aborted each day.

"The gospel rapper first introduced his comments by stating that, as part of his presidential campaign, he is working on a “Plan A,” whereby women in unplanned pregnancies are provided with support to make the choice to offer their babies for adoption, rather than immediately head to Planned Parenthood for an abortion.

“'Because Plan B and Planned Parenthood were planned by eugenics that set out and said out loud, ‘I’m doing this to kill the black race, and to create population control,'” Kanye West said Saturday in the latest installment of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast.'"

Couldn't tell you. The facilities I'm familiar with are double fence facilities where the guards will shoot you if your stupid enough to ignore the posted signs. I got to see some of the tech that was trucked in while construction was going on. Cameras were forbidden (even cell phones) during construction.

There is a lot of military hardware that comes through my area, especially since there are no military bases in the state with the exception of Camp Dawson (home of the 19th SF group). I constantly have Air force, Navy and Marine fighter jets as well as C130's, Osprey and Helicopter's flying past the house. Usually at nap of earth or NOE plus 500 ft. There is more, but it shouldn't be discussed on the web.

    Dalewick,

I don't know if it is still used for that purpose but I've seen a map of the United States concerning Navigation Corridors....training corridors....and one of them runs down the Appalachian Mountain range..from up north down to Georgia...and with certain Navigation way points along the way. Aircraft fly this course at somewhat low altitude so as not to interfere with the higher altitude airline/commercial traffic. This course runs down the Western part of Virginia into West Virginia along it's route....and I have seen the aircraft flying this course when visiting someone living in Marion, Virginia at surprisingly low altitudes.
There are navigation beacons situated along this corridor...
As I recall in those days it was called Tacan...

There is another such training course/corridor out west in the Rockies..

I was initially astonished the first time I laid eyes on this map.

    Prepper Facilitties....

    Continuity of Government..

Are you speaking of the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Skyline Drive? These are contiguous, one piece of asphalt. This long road is two-lane and twists like a snake. The Blue Ridge Parkway is coming up on its 90th anniversary. This is a scenic route only. During winter snows, the parkway is closed and for good reason -- you can get killed up there. Some sections have a guardrail and other sections do not. Slide off that road and you'll tumble down 100, 300 yrd super steep embankments; i.e. you're dead.

    https://www.blueridgeparkway.org/

    https://www.nps.gov/shen/planyourvisit/driving-skyline-drive.htm

Interstate 81 runs along the Appalachian Mountains and sees heavy use. During SHTF, that piece of real estate will just be a junkyard of jammed cars should anyone want to use it to bug-out towards the South. Add to that, Southern folk will block those roads. Also, should there be an extreme emergency, the military will take possession of the interstate hwy system. The latter is why Eisenhower built those highways -- they were for strategic military operations during any attack of the USA.

Interstate 95 runs up and down the Eastern seaboard. That is one of America's primary drug corridors. During any SHTF event, just write-off I95.

This is why I scout the state highways, the country roads, and even the Forestry Service roads. I smile and wave at the locals and buy my gas in those tiny towns. I have an Appalachian drawl (different than a Southern drawl and different than a Texas drawl). When talking to the locals, I revert to my native drawl. I do NOT want to be perceived as any outsider. Outsiders invoke the "be kind to strangers" behavioral pattern, however outsiders will NOT be truly accepted. If you imagine that you can fake these accents, you'll just get yourself into trouble -- you will get interrogated or instantly written off ... or worse.

Here is a lucky fellow; the shrubs stopped his car:

"A 6-mile stretch of the parkway between mileposts 106 and 112, which is the segment of road between U.S. 460 in Botetourt County and Virginia 24 near Vinton, has been closed for nearly a month after federal officials deemed that part of the scenic road was unsafe."

I've got a 4x4, but I keep a come-along, chain, and heavy rope in that puppy just in case. Here's another thing, I've driven mountain roads for a half century; still, I stay away from areas where I have no business traveling. Pride will get you killed.

One time in Winter up in the mountains, my dad as a kid was riding with his dad. The car let go and Pap yelled at Dad, "Jump!!!" Dad didn't. Pap regained control -- some angel must have gotten involved.

    Then there's this:

    Good evening Old Geezer,

    Speaking of I-81;

Those small recreational airfields spaced around the Interstate can handle some cargo aircraft like Hercules. Would guess Super Hercules also.

A couple of the groups I do vol work with set up shop at Rural Retreat (name of town), Virginia. Had checked the place out. The airfield is expandable and so too the facilities. The other airfields I checked over the years mirror Rural Retreat - (it's between Marion and Pulaski).

Am prepared to bet all my pfennigs, when SHTF, I-81 is closed to private and routine commercial traffic and only national security vehicles are on the highway. The non-Preppers will learn about car-camping and appreciate the benefits of the absent hygiene facilities. The new campgrounds will be on side of and away from the Interstate.

As an aside, at a dental clinic we set up in the actual Appalachia in higher land than the Shenandoah, we had some testing of drone resupply of pharma. Here, too, will place my pfennigs on bets that private sector commo will be 100% blocked.
