COMMENTARY: What’s the deal with ‘The Great Reset’?

WATCH: (Nov. 20, 2020) Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on Friday was asked about his speech he made before the United Nations in September that talked about the pandemic and a 'great reset,' which sparked conspiracy theories online and with Conservative MPs, pointing to 'anxiety' from the coronavirus pandemic as the culprit.
There’s a global push underway to overhaul economic systems in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It even has its own name, logo, website, annual summit meetings and a virtual series of online “dialogues” to push the goals of the movement.

It’s called “The Great Reset,” an idea advanced by Klaus Schwab, founder and executive chairman of the World Economic Forum in Switzerland.

According to the organization’s website, The Great Reset has among its goals no less than a rapid post-pandemic overhaul of economic systems, business models and societies.

“There is an urgent need for global stakeholders to co-operate simultaneously in managing the direct consequences of the COVID-19 crisis,” the website says.

“As we enter a unique window of opportunity to shape the recovery, this initiative will offer insights to help inform all those determining the future state of global relations, the direction of national economies, the priorities of societies, the nature of business models and the management of a global commons.”

All of which immediately set off talk of an international conspiracy by shadowy “globalists” to put the planet on a one-way path to big-government socialism. Or worse.

According to a BBC News story this week, the conspiracy theory is rooted in a baseless belief that the COVID-19 virus was created in a lab and deliberately unleashed on the world by evil geniuses who want to take over the global economy.

And comments by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau added fuel to the conspiratorial fire, the BBC reported.

Speaking by video conference at a virtual United Nations meeting last week, Trudeau appeared to back the Great Reset agenda.

“This pandemic has provided an opportunity for a reset,” Trudeau said, instantly trending globally on Twitter after his use of the R-word.

“This is our chance to accelerate our pre-pandemic efforts to reimagine economic systems that actually address global challenges like extreme poverty, inequality and climate change.”

After Trudeau was criticized for the comments, he appeared to back the notion that any assault on the idea of an economic “reset” was driven by conspiratorial crackpots.

“I think we’re in a time of anxiety, where people are looking for reasons for things that are happening to them,” Trudeau said.

“We’re seeing a lot of people fall prey to disinformation.”

But wait. This is not Bigfoot, chemtrails or fake moon landings we’re talking about here.

This is a “conspiracy theory” apparently hiding in plain sight, and Trudeau’s critics say they are completely within their rights to question what he means by “a reset” and “re-imagined economic systems.”

“It’s on the World Economic Forum website and it’s what the prime minister is saying in his own words,” Conservative MP Pierre Poilievre told me.

“Now is not the time to ‘reimagine’ our economic system. Now is exactly the wrong time to use the Canadian economy as a laboratory, or a guinea pig to play out the experiments of international financial elites.”

Instead, Poilievre said, Trudeau should be concentrating on getting people back to work in the economic system we already have.

“Now is the time to focus on the basics of getting people safely back into their jobs — jobs that they had only six or seven months ago to earn income, pay taxes and contribute to their communities.”

In response, Poilievre started an online petition called “Stop The Great Reset” that racked up more than 60,000 signatures within a few days.

“The international financial elites love socialist politics because it allows them and the governments they influence to have more control,” Poilievre told me.

Poilievre’s critics seized on his use of hyper-charged descriptors like “international elites” as proof that the Conservative finance critic is trafficking in conspiratorial language.

After all, it’s those same “international elites” who are orchestrating secretive globalist agendas like a “new world order” and stuff, right?

You can certainly make a case that Poilievre is blowing a dog whistle that some conspiracy-minded Canadians will hear and respond to.

On the other hand, he’s not wrong to ask some direct, fundamental questions of the prime minister about his desire to “reset and reimagine” economies at home and abroad, and what, exactly, that would mean for all Canadians.

    Good afternoon Last Outlaw,

This might be 2 part post.

In reply; 2 aspects to answer your question:

    1. Continue to upgrade prepping. Place emphasis on repair kits and health care + needed pharma, both RX and OTC.

    2. Do diligently consider a forced relocation out of area. I'm not saying this is in the Davos plans but it's a Prepper requirement to prep for realistic worst-case scenerios. This is why I recently discussed with our Forum Member Rebecca about cold climate grains. I'm reallt too old to move around but we've got a small group with talented people and equipment.

Have been studying maps and might help out the Arkansas U-Haul folks if needing one of their trailers

The Davos stuff is going on now; not a possibility that might affect us.

Airlines are getting smaller fleets and personnel
    Restaurants closing
Hotels/motels experiencing smaller operations ... less travel now
Public schools - much smaller buildings with much larger lap top learning augmented by home-schoolig ad charter schools

    ......

I'm working at a reduced pace because I'm loading up on the shots/jabs. My social life is not in ruins because I'm stuck in the shack and a little fatigued from the vaccinations.

This is part of advanced-level Prepping !

Social life around the camp fire comes later.

One of the major problems with Trudeau is that no one can ever get a straight answer out of him. Never seen anyone who can talk in circles like that man. A universal issue with politicians I suppose. But it also means that as a prepper one should take the worst scenario possible and prepare for that. A good outcome is then a pleasant occurrence.

Oh hell yes. this global economic slow-motion crash is GREAT. Keep it going until everyone loses their home and EVERYONE ends up on welfare or starvation becomes another GREAT thing for these idiots to cheer about!!! Most likely the great RESET will be when the bullets fly and the idiots realize that real people don't like having their lives tossed in the trash can.

The economic crash will be so deep that any form of government funny-money will not be taken. During the 21st century over twenty nations died of hyperinflation. First comes severe deflation, then the hyperinflation sets in when gov. fiat goes worthless. Keynesian pump-priming only has the ability to work for a short while. It is contingent on a government being able to pay-back its creditors. China is divesting itself of US treasuries. The U.S. is borrowing money to pay the interest on the money they borrowed = bankruptcy. Government gets to the point where it can no longer pay their police nor armies. Police forces dwindle and eventually can protect the regime alone. It is usually the police and/or private police who assassinate the members of the regime. This is when the military becomes the government.

This isn't about a crash. this is about control. Once they have implemented a digital currency on a worldwide basis then your freedom is easily controlled by using your currency as a method of control. taxes? automatically deducted from your account. Food also deducted. Fines? deducted. Not staying in your home as ordered? fined and deducted. Not willing to take their shot? on list. fined and deducted repeatedly until you are vaccinated. Also not allowed ownership of property without approval and deduction. Been bad in Gov eyes? All money locked down until you comply.

I think ALL politicians are trained NOT to give a straight answer, and in some cases no answer at all.

Charles Durning war hero, great actor.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charles_Durning

"Durning served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was drafted at age 20. On June 6, 1944 Durning was assigned to the 1st Infantry Division and in the first wave of American troops that landed on Omaha Beach during the invasion of Normandy. He would be the only survivor of his unit that arrived in France on D-Day. After being wounded by a German anti-personnel mine in the Bocage, he spent six months recovering. Durning was reassigned to the 398th Infantry Regiment with the 100th Infantry Division, and participated in the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944. He was discharged with the rank of Private First Class on January 30, 1946.[8]

"For his valor and the wounds he received during the war, Durning was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and three Purple Hearts.[9] Additional awards included the Army Good Conduct Medal, the American Campaign Medal and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Arrowhead device and two bronze service stars, and the World War II Victory Medal.[10] His badges included the Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Badge with Rifle Bar, and Honorable Service Lapel Pin.[8]

"Durning received the French National Order of the Legion of Honor from the French Consul in Los Angeles in April 2008."
    ----------------------------------------------

    http://www.legacy.com/ns/charles-durning-obituary/161955030

"Many critics marveled that such a heavyset man could be so nimble in the film's show-stopping song-and-dance number, not realizing Durning had been a dance instructor early in his career. Indeed, he had met his first wife, Carol, when both worked at a dance studio."

"Durning's rugged early life provided ample material on which to base his later portrayals. He was b orn into an Irish family of 10 children in 1923, in Highland Falls, N.Y., a town near West Point. His father was unable to work, having lost a leg and been gassed during World War I, so his mother supported the family by washing the uniforms of West Point cadets."

"In later years, he refused to discuss the military service for which he was awarded the Silver Star and three Purple Hearts.

"Too many bad memories," he told an interviewer in 1997. "I don't want you to see me crying."

"Tragedy also stalked other members of his family. Durning was 12 when his father died, and five of his sisters lost their lives to smallpox and scarlet fever.

"A high school counselor told him he had no talent for art, languages or math and should learn office skills. But after seeing "King Kong" and some of James Cagney's films, Durning knew what he wanted to do.

"Leaving home at 16, he worked in a munitions factory, on a slag heap and in a barbed-wire factory."

A hard life makes superior human souls stronger.

May God's Eternal Blessings perpetually rain down upon this noble soul, Charles Durning. May God's Peace and Mercy wipe away all of his heart's scars for having had to endure the very worst of this vale of tears. May he eternally be enveloped in God's Grace and Love.

A fellow prepper brought to my attention today , with the government declaration that home renters can not be evicted from the houses they are squatting in , in many cases simply quite paying rent . In the state I reside about 40% of home renters stopped making payments . That means they are hopelessly so for behind on rent they will not likely ever catch up on paying their payments . This mandate they have to be able to squat there without paying runs out this January . Now this leaves the government in a dilemma . They either have to kick this can further down the road and leave the home owners that the squatters are in , left helplessly holding a empty bag as no payments will be coming in . Or they can lift the mandate as scheduled and the home owners can kick the free loaders out . In that case the country will see an insurgency of homeless people like the United States has never seen before , not even during the great depression .

I do see a great reset.
take for example what is happening in my home town montreal
    1) office building are rarely now needed as most people work from home. down town abandoned
    2) a lot of students take courses from home. you can now study in new Hampshire and live anywhere
    3) most people order stuff online and have it delivered to home. big box stores not needed .
    4) because people can now work from home they are selling their home near big cities and buying places where they want to live. i e Vermont real-estate is exploding .

"take for example what is happening in my home town montreal

So, by not working in a city, the home-workers are not buying lunches, they are not buying gasoline, they are not buying ANYTHING in town. Those providing services in cities are now SOL.

What to do? What is the eternal solution? Yes! Taxes must be raised! Hurrah!

    https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/12/business/work-from-home-tax/index.html

London (CNN Business) "Many people are discovering they enjoy working from home. Should they pay higher taxes if they decide to stay away from the office even after the pandemic?

"The idea was floated this week by a research team at Deutsche Bank (DB). It proposed a tax on remote workers once the coronavirus is brought under control to support the economic recovery and subsidize the wages of people in low-paid jobs who can't choose their place of work.

"'The sudden shift to [work from home] means that, for the first time in history, a big chunk of people have disconnected themselves from the face-to-face world yet are still leading a full economic life,' thematic research analyst Luke Templeman said in a new report. 'That means remote workers are contributing less to the infrastructure of the economy whilst still receiving its benefits.'

"He [Luke Templeman] estimates that such a tax could raise $48 billion per year in the United States, along with £6.9 billion ($9.1 billion) in the United Kingdom and €15.9 billion ($18.8 billion) in Germany."

This is just another example of how taxation can cure any problem!:):):)

Renters stop paying rent = landlords have no income = the landlords cannot pay their mortgages to the banks who loaned them the money to buy/build the apartment buildings AND the landlords will not be able to pay their property taxes to local government.

    https://www.propertymanagerinsider.com/the-10-largest-apartment-owners/

Apartment-owning companies are HUGE businesses. What if they were to start going broke? "Oh, the banks would repossess their properties and auction them off." And get what? Who would buy them at prices needed by the banks?! The banks could NEVER get their money back. Smaller banking groups would drop dead Fred ... resulting in the central banks failing.

From whom will the U.S. be able to borrow money at survivable interest rates? Irrespective of what bankers say, they are in trouble. Remember that banks are exempt from having to report their financial condition. China is mightily backing off on buying U.S. treasury notes. China is financing/buying Japanese corporations & real estate. America will have to turn to other countries. If smaller nations finance the USA, they bolster the dollar and trash their own currencies, lessening their buying power.

Listen and you can hear the sound of dominoes falling.

    https://laist.com/2020/07/24/cancel-rent-los-angeles-homeless.php

All of the following is cut'n'paste from the above article"

    --------------------- Begin quote ----------------

RENT CANCELLATION IS NOW A POLITICAL DEMAND

The solution being put forth by tenants and their advocates is this: just cancel the rent, and make landlords apply for government assistance instead of tenants.

Cries of "cancel the rent" can be heard everywhere, from social media, to public comment at government meetings, to regular protests targeting elected officials at their personal homes. Some of those elected officials, like former L.A. City Council President Herb Wesson, have signaled they agree.

We need to cancel rent. We need to forgive mortgage payments. We need debtless health care for every American. We need a New Deal-style jobs initiative.

    — Herb J. Wesson, Jr. (@HerbJWesson) July 14, 2020
Roy, of UCLA, says bluntly that, in the age of coronavirus, cancelling the rent has become an explicit political demand on elected officials.

    LOST CONTROL, LOST INCOME

For property owners, the perspective is very different.

Dan Yukelson, the executive director of the Apartment Association of Greater Los Angeles, disagrees with the idea that property owners wield disproportionate power in politics. He says the rules put in place around eviction during the pandemic are biased towards tenants.

"We've basically lost control of our properties," said Yukelson. "Right now we have no control. We can't say who we want to live in our properties. And we can't do anything about collecting the income that's owed to us under our contracts."

Long term, Yukelson worries about small property owners being put out of business and selling their properties to larger corporate managers. Many, he says, don't have a financial safety net that allows them to accommodate months of non-payment from their tenants. He says that even when evictions do resume, it's not an immediate option for property owners.

"If owners do want to evict, there's going to be a major backlog in the courts and people are going to be in place for at least another 12 months [after evictions resume] without paying rent. That's going to bankrupt a lot of these apartment owners, and I'm really concerned you're going to see a huge wave of foreclosures."

    FEDERAL AND STATE SUBSIDIES

Ultimately, Yukelson wants to see something similar to the city's rental assistance program — direct payments to property owners — at the state or federal level.

"Their budget, due to the pandemic, [is] very challenged. But there needs to be some federal money and subsidies that come in. And you know, quite frankly, the state does have more emergency funds left. They need to dig deep, and they need to help people stay housed and they need to keep rental property owners afloat," said Yukelson.

Roy, the UCLA professor, says that any attempt to keep tenants housed will ultimately save money in the long run. Homelessness, distinct from the staggering human toll, ultimately proves enormously expensive to manage for the government.

    -------------------- End of quote ------------------

Don't worry, the Fed will just print more money!

How many times have you also heard the term "the new normal". How can normal be new? If it's new, it wasn't the norm.

People let themselves be controlled, because it's "for there good", socially accepted, it follows the "regulations and rules", it won't cause problems.

Looking at the title to this thread " how do you prepare for the great reset " . For me that answer is easy , " by preparing for self sufficiency ". Many in the prepper community simply prepare to survive for a few months thinking things will then get better . The great reset is what Venezuela has experienced and has been in for over a decade with no end in sight . Actually some just prepare for a few days thinking that gas generator will be the answer to their problem . People need to prepare not for days , weeks , months or years but for the life span of themselves , spouses , kids and grandkids . --- My answer is a survival retreat with a spring , creek , wild game , fish and milk goats . Those that just dreamed about that survival retreat have now probably run out of time as a sustainable survival retreat is not likely to come upon the market now as more people see the looming collapse ahead . The difference between dreaming about a survival retreat and having one is about the same as the difference between living and dying . ---We are already in the infant stage of the reset with the Virus Communist China unleashed upon the planet . Deaths from the biological assault grow every day . Perhaps the virus will be stopped with some vaccine mutating biological body cells . Personally I have chosen to not be a mutant . However even if we do have enough mutants to stop the virus , damage has been done to the supply chain and monetary system and helped usher in a Venezuela style government " if the Communist Coup attempt succeeds " .

the mortality rate will probably be so high that a return to a simpler way of life will be the only way to survive, most people especially in the UK wont have any chance of survival as they are too modern and have long done away with any skills than dont involve a computer or mobile phone.
if someone dosent have the knowledge to grow their own food or forage for wild food without knowing which is safe to eat and what is lethal then they wont be around for long.

All who think they are survivalist should be in serious threat assessment mode including doing a self analysis and then act accordingly. The world has fundamentally changed in several key areas. Some of the assumptions and timelines in you prep timeline may now no longer be valid or prudent. The world or future you have been prepping might no longer exist. If you aren't familiar with SWOT analysis, do yourself a favor and learn about how to do it, then do it. Read about the numerous examples of how former nations and cultures fell and what happened to those populations as the new nations or cultures formed. There are clear trends and patterns that always repeat themselves and its horrifically ugly for the scapegoats that are always needed to usher in change. We will be among these scapegoats. Know this and plan accordingly.

    Good morning Alaska John,

    Exactly !

If SWOT analysis not used, it is called drifting or dilusion.

The BIG matter that Preppers do not spend time learning about is COGCON, Continuity of Government conditions. It's near mirror imagery to the Pentagon's DEFCONs.

Roads closed or restricted, Gasoline rationed with priority to certin groups. Hospitals? YOYO !

The "T" in SWOT - "threats" and that's why I'm emmeshed in risk management. Risk management, usually involving the advice and products of insurance companies, is now adding the "CAT bond" - the Catrosphe (a/k/a/ Catastropic Event).

The principles are about the same for the individual Prepper. If every first aid kit is kept in the spare room in house and the big tree falls on the spare room in house, first aid kit inventory = zero.

    https://alt-market.us/the-leftist-o...veals-their-infatuation-with-thought-control/

"In my recent article ‘Power Is An Illusion, Control Is A Facade’ I outlined the realities behind power structures and how people dominate other people by conditioning them with false assumptions and misplaced fears. For example, many people make themselves easy to control by remaining dependent on governments during crisis events and emergencies; if you actually believe the government will protect you from any and all eventualities then why would you ever learn to protect and provide for yourself? The infantization of a society makes citizens easy to dominate.

"Another example would be instilling a fear of “standing out” among one’s peers – Many people are uncomfortable with the idea of being seen as aberrant or in opposition to the “majority” and will seek to fit in, even when they fundamentally disagree. A ruling elite merely need to manufacture the assumption or impression that the 'majority' of the population are in agreement with oppressive measures. Even if this is not the case, the perception of a majority can be used to control those people that would otherwise rebel.

"The political left and the social justice cult have been particularly interested in the concept of thought control lately, or, at least, they are much more open about discussing their private obsessions these days. I have to say, their rhetoric in not at all surprising, but I think some analysis is needed to understand the root of their ideology and how they are able to rationalize their behavior.

"I was watching an interview on MSNBC with an activist (fake journalist) by the name of Ben Collins who almost exclusively produces hit pieces and hatchet jobs on conservatives and the alternative media. His focus is generally on what he calls “disinformation” and “conspiracy theory”; in other words, his job is to identify what totalitarians would refer to as “wrong think”. The discussion centered on the social media website Parler and how it represents a “threat” to our “democracy”. You can see the interview for yourself HERE.

"Collins is not all that interesting as an individual and he appears to be more of a mouthpiece than a thinker. His work is very similar to the SPLC’s in terms of tone and lack of tangible arguments; it is basic low brow propaganda revolving around little to no evidence or facts (i.e. propaganda for stupid people as opposed to carefully crafted propaganda designed to trick smarter people). He often uses omission of important details that might provide the viewer or reader with a clearer understanding of the subject matter. That said, this specific interview fascinated me because of how transparent he was in his lies, and how honest he was (perhaps unwittingly) in his agenda.

"The initial goal of MSNBC and other establishment outlets was obviously to try to spread disinformation on Parler. When Parler’s traffic began to explode months ago I think the media’s intent was to slow the bleeding from sites like Twitter and Facebook. They were unsuccessful.

"Today, there is a deeper issue of thought control involved. Alternative tech sites are going to continue to grow and establishment tech sites are going to continue to shrink. Lackeys and hacks like Collins now have to use a different strategy – Painting conservative platforms as 'dangerous threats' to our society, perhaps with the intent of getting them shut down.

"You see, collectivists, Marxists, leftists, whatever you want to call them, they want submission more than anything else. They want thought control. They want you to WANT to be a part of the hive, and if you don’t then you must be punished or reeducated. You cannot walk away peacefully and live your own life, or start your own website.

"Collectivists see any contrary ideals or principles or voices as a threat to their existence, and perhaps they are right. If you think about it, their ideology is so fragile that they have to silence or destroy any and all alternatives. The only way their cult can continue to survive is if people believe there are no other options. The moment people are presented with another choice, they will leave the abusive collective en masse."

    Good morning Old Geezer,

    This is an excellent article.

Appreciated reading word "infantization". It's a term used in the study of anti-terrorism measures and required to understand and protect against by holders of kidnapping and hostage insurance policies.

The "though control" expression evolved from "brain washing". Remember, Ivan Pavlov died as recently as 1936.

Love it: "an activist (fake journalist)" !

    For our Forum Members not familiar wit "SPLW";

SPLC = Southern Poverty Law Center. It's a deceptive fund-raising org really focused to destroying quality Amerrican organizations.

    Again, a great article !

    Danke.

It's a bit lengthy a thing to post. When I read the article, it brought a smile to my face. I too loved reading, "infantization" and "an activist (fake journalist)". Every paragraphed seemed a gem to me, thus I had trouble limiting the number of paragraphs to quote -- the entire article was both truth and a hoot. People do not tell the truth anymore; thus when you find it happening, it is a treat. Plus, humor seems forbidden. I love making fun of evil idiots. I pray that God steps on them. It is the herds I loathe -- the thought of such human-nature matters induces nausea in me. I just can't laugh about people behaving like cattle or sheep. If God wishes to love them, then He is God. Me, I'm not Jesus.

Different preppers prep for different S.H.T.F. scenarios and at different levels . Some have " not much " to " not any " preparations for long term survival such as an Venezuela style reset . When it comes to a permanent impoverished government collapse they simply would likely be grubbing around in the dirt for worms for their children or themselves to eat or they would perish . --- The Communist Governments assault on the planet with their push for their One World Government under the control of the communist regime is now underway . Maybe only one person on this forum doesn't realize this . --- The point I am leading to is many of the critically unprepared could bring their survival rating up considerably with just an acre or two if they fenced in a portion and obtained milk goats , chickens and rabbits . That would still leave them exposed to a water problem when it quite coming out of the faucet , but that is a different matter . Another problem to overcome would be raiding sheeple . -- Having survival animals would put most preppers on a much higher probability scale of surviving a Venezuela style reset . --- By the way information I received today - In the year 2020 the amount of money magically poofed into existence in the United States was 40% . Now you are talking about some serious inflation . Yes Venezuela " here we come " .

    Chickens.
An egg a day could keep you alive. They can be kept in a very small area ( like a suburban back yard) and can feed themselves.

They can't feed themselves during a northern winter and many varieties of chicken can't survive outside in a northern winter. Some varieties do fine in a northern winter. Check out what your buying.

Chickens can indeed be kept taking up little space . I have seen a commercial egg producing farm where the chickens had about 16 square inches each in a tiny cage about two and a half square feet with about 4 chickens sharing the cage and some of the cages were even more crowded as there was not enough floor space so one chicken always had to be sitting on top of another chicken . They lived like that day after day . Personally I wouldn't even treat a chicken like that . The point is little space is necessary , if feed is brought to them . After the collapse and die off of sheeple the chickens can then feed themselves if they are closely guarded against both two legged and four legged wildlife .

The small cages, known as "battery" cages are no longer legal here, I really only buy "free range" eggs where the chickens are allowed to roam outside over a given area, not cooped up inside, cramped in huge sheds, that type of commercial enterprise only sells to supermarkets which is why I only buy from farm gates where I know its free range .

actually the thought of "raiding sheeple" in the UK is quite funny, very few people eat rabbit here anymore-apart from yours truly, and many the time I have heard someone say "I couldnt eat Bambi!" if you gave them a freshly killed animal they'd probably all faint at the sight of blood and run away screaming, they are used to meat in those plastic packets with the little folded nappy underneath to keep it looking fresh, and as for wild non animal food they dont even know an apple grows on a tree and I forget the last time I saw anyone else Blackberry picking.

I do expect in future that my veggie garden will be raided by two-leggers. Years ago, I tried-out a new .22 on a garden-raiding 4-legged bunny. Rifle 1, bunny 0.

Each fall my survival group takes an example set by Native Americans centuries ago . A hunting party is formed and they go on a hunt and camping at night , composing of days gathering meat for the year . It normally takes but a few days to gather enough meat to fill the freezers . Even the women participate hunting , skinning , gutting and preparing the meat . The children as soon as they are big enough to shoulder and fire a gun participate . They know from toddlers where meat comes from and the gory and bloody process of obtaining it . The children's shooting skills and firearm handling is taken seriously and usually begins around 6 years of age . This training from early childhood also pays dividends in combat . I remember some angry soldiers once at a military shooting range . When I started stacking bullets through the same hole they got angry and told me to leave stating , anyone that can shoot like that doesn't need to be at a firing range .

"... they dont even know an apple grows on a tree and I forget the last time I saw anyone else Blackberry picking."

Actually, I believe LoneWolf is right about this. Thirty years ago, urban schools took kids to farms to show them where their food came from. Urban kids are not only disconnected from nature, they are utterly disconnected from reality.

    https://www.farminguk.com/news/surv...n-don-t-know-where-milk-comes-from_46824.html

"New research has revealed that a third of children are not aware that milk comes from cows, and two fifths think cows drink milk rather than produce it.

"The survey, by Cadbury's, also revealed that 1 in 8 children from London (12 per cent) don’t know that cows moo – with almost twice as many boys than girls being confused about what sound they make.

"The research shows the bizarre beliefs many British children hold about food and farming.

"Nearly one in five believe milk comes straight from the fridge or supermarket (18 per cent).

"When it comes to their appearance, one in 10 believe that a cow is the size of a double decker bus and over 10 per cent think they’re as small as cats.

"These findings suggest that children haven’t yet had the opportunity to learn about cows as many may have limited access to them, particularly in inner cities."
    ===============

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...brown-cows-and-thats-not-even-the-scary-part/

"Seven percent of all American adults believe that chocolate milk comes from brown cows, according to a nationally representative online survey commissioned by the Innovation Center of U.S. Dairy."

"One Department of Agriculture study, commissioned in the early ’90s, found that nearly 1 in 5 adults did not know that hamburgers are made from beef. Many more lacked familiarity with basic farming facts, like how big U.S. farms typically are and what food animals eat."

"But in some populations, confusion about basic food facts can skew pretty high. When one team of researchers interviewed fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders at an urban California school, they found that more than half of them didn’t know pickles were cucumbers, or that onions and lettuce were plants. Four in 10 didn’t know that hamburgers came from cows. And 3 in 10 didn’t know that cheese is made from milk."

“'Indifference about the origins and production of foods became a norm of urban culture, laying the groundwork for a modern food sensibility that would spread all across America in the decades that followed,' Vileisis wrote, of the 20th century. 'Within a relatively brief period, the average distance from farm to kitchen had grown from a short walk down the garden path to a convoluted, 1,500-mile energy-guzzling journey by rail and truck.'”

Nation of Islam believers believe that a black scientist created white people.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakub_(Nation_of_Islam)

"In the beliefs of the Nation of Islam (NOI), Yakub (sometimes spelled Yacub or Yaqub) was a black scientist who lived '6,600 years ago' and began the creation of the White race / White people. He is said to have done this through a form of selective breeding referred to as 'grafting', while living on the island of Patmos. The Nation of Islam theology states that Yakub is the Biblical Jacob. The story has caused disputes within the NOI during its history. Under its current leader Louis Farrakhan , the NOI continues to assert that the story of Yakub is true, claiming that modern science is consistent with it."

Old Geezer, (and Lonewolf) I really did not realize this was such a widespread thing. This lack of knowledge.

Makes me feel a little guilty lol. When I was 13 (not saying how long ago that was!!) My family went to visit relatives. We were farm kids. They were very much city. My slightly older cousin did not know at that time that milk came from cows. He did also not know bread was baked in loaves and then sliced. He thought it was made in slices. From that time forth as a judgmental teenager lol, I labeled him the idiot of the family. I'll have to mentally apologize, apparently his ignorance is shared by a huge number of people.

    https://www.farmerfoodshare.org/far...ing-boom-1-in-3-american-households-grow-food

    A piece of good news,

"According to the National Gardening Association (NGA), 35 percent of households in the US grow food either at home or in a community garden. This means that two million more families are involved in gardening, up 200 percent since 2008. All of these statistics were calculated by a special five-year report by the NGA, Garden to Table: A 5-Year Look at Food Gardening in America. The study tells us that many things have changed over the past five years -- which age groups are most likely to garden, the types of food that people are most popular to grow, why people garden, and garden location and size."

What this actually means is that a rather LARGE percentage of people not living in cities grow gardens. Which means that urbanites have utterly no clue whatsoever as to how to go about the outer-space mystery of growing veggies. In my own little town, gardens are ubiquitous. Everybody has a workshop / tool storage building. Were gardens here tripled in size (I could do so on a whim), the land inside town limits could feed everyone. I have to drive by fields to get to a grocery store.

In this agricultural region, my county is common -- it differs little from other aggie counties here. There are dozens and dozens and dozens of counties just like this one. In my county there are approximately 1,800 farms. There are around 75,000 people living in this county -- fairly populous, that makes for about 75 people per square mile. County is over 900 square miles / 2,300 sq kilometers. I'm reading straight out of this county's agriculture statistics for the year 2017. Average farm here has acreage around 160 acres (65 hectares). In my county, farmers are raising 4.2 million chickens and 100,oo0 cattle. There's only a couple thousand horses here -- I would have thought that there were more horses that that; I pass fields with horses grazing every day. Seeing cattle, well that doesn't interest the brain; but horses are beautiful animals, look for'em, see'em all the time. What it is time for is supper.

A good chunk of this place is mountain land, so the farmers here must be making dang good use of the land that they have. Plenty of loamy valley land -- precious little is true flat land. Just checked a county just south of us and their aggie stats are a bit lower than our numbers; but then again, that county is quite mountainous indeed without as much valley land as we have. Supper!, time for supper. Tawkin' 'bout them thar farm products has done gone and got me a'hankerin' fer some vittles.

I'm not a big fan of these but they work well in winter, are easy to clean and also work well for rabbits.

    For young chicks.

Dont rabbits require heat in winter? Or at least in places that have bad winters. Although of course they could go in a heated barn.

Back when I had long hair and wore bell-bottom pants, a couple of my buddies were cohabiting with a couple of young ladies. They had a cabin up next to the timber line -- wood stove, kerosene lanterns, back to nature, all that. Kept rabbits in wire enclosure very small pens / cages. These pens weren't even on the ground, they were up on 4' tables exposed to wind. No bunnies froze.

These were lab rabbits from our university. I didn't say anything to the guys about what in the name of god kind of pharmaceutical research these bunnies were a part of. Hadn't been dissected or vivisected. Maybe the guys just stole them. My buddies were lab rabbits for the testing of LSD-25 ... their own experiments. Got really cold up there. Me, were I to keep rabbits, I'd keep them where there was static air, so that the bunnies could heat themselves. They weren't Oak Ridge bunnies -- didn't glow in the dark.

A Physiology prof of mine did research at Oak Ridge. When lecturing at our university he'd get dogs over at the pound (three blocks away) and we'd vivisect them. A dog's thorax is open, "Look students, this is ventricular fibrillation -- most of you will die like this." Shock shock shock (teeny tiny paddles), pooches don't come back and neither do most people.

The universe yawns when we die, so it's best to have friends on the other side. I sure do have a bunch; actually, all my people are over there now. The night is quiet and no souls are whispering to me. Tap-tap goes the keyboard. Tap-tap go the beauteous ice crystals falling from heaven as they hit my window panes. Crystals journey back to Earth to melt. The frozen limbed trees are giant fractals, order-in-chaos silver hallucinations of their absent Creator. Seems He's always standing back to watch. The night is cold. God's puppet wanders.

It has been said over here that the modern population is 4 generations removed from the land, a generation is usually considered to be 30 years.
a large proportion of the population get ALL their food from supermarkets and know little or nothing about how that food is produced, where it comes from or even how it gets to the store, all their interested in is that it is on the store shelves when they want it, which is why we see all the panic when it is not.
in some more urban places the only food available is in supermarkets, no farms, no farm shops, no markets, no roadside stalls, just supermarkets.
which dosent bode well for any sort of national emergency.

    Good morning Old Geezer,

From a couple of posts above, it you make the college/university situation into a riddle, it is easy to solve.

Those places are not colleges or universities regardless of the names. They are finishing schools.

The historic university left the American scene some time ago. The infection was caused by public funds entering the institutes of lower education.

Back to the bell bottom pants; I know from your avitar that you were Executive Officer on Captains Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery.

I raised rabbits for several years in West Virginia and they did fine with no heat as long as they had plenty of bedding material (I used hay). I actually raised mine in hutches made out of commercial wire spools (wooden spools) and they had the inner circle to use as a burrow. I made them a 6 inch circle to enter through and made myself a door that I could get in for cleaning and checking on the babies. Most of the spools I used were 4 to 5 foot in diameter but I used some as big a 8 foot in diameter. U usually made multiple levels and sections in these. They worked great unless disease became an issue. The large ones actually worked the best for raising quail.

Bodes bad, downright bad. We have farmers' markets around here. You see honor-system jars of honey sittin on a make-do plank out front of somebody's farmhouse on a county road -- take a jar and leave a minimum contribution. Sometimes they'll leave a bit of the comb in the honey. People with bad allergies are sometimes helped by putting local honey in their tea. I've seen townfolk people who lived in apartments grow their kitchen spices in window flower boxes. I saw this in the 50s & 60s. Don't even see nice apartments anymore. Small towns in the Heartland America had nice apartment buildings, brick, with balconies and small porches. Retired folk lived there when they got crippled up. Their place would be a small walk to & from the church. I remember when small town residential streets had little grocery stores only 30ft by 20ft, if that. When in town at my grandmother's house I'd go buy bread and cigarettes. Old folk, "Go run me an errand, boy. Get me some Lucky Strikes and a loaf of bread. Keep the change." A nickle would buy you a candy bar or a soft drink.

    Wow Poltiregist,

You got me to remembering something and someone from years past in a small fishing village in Sneads Ferry, North Carolina.

While there visiting someone who lived in that fishing village on the back side of Camp Lejune....I ran into a fellow who liked to collect Native Indian goods..in particular Stone Arrow Heads and Stone Spear Points. He showed me quite a collection.

    However.....

His prized item in his collection was what looked like a large stone tooth....but....

What it was was a stone tool used by Indian women to scrape the hair off hides. It was worn out/smooth and curved on one side from handling it by hands..and had a thumb indentation in it from constant use. The edge of it has been worn smooth from scraping hides. It was quite striking once you knew for what it was used....once you realized how many hides it took to wear stone in such an manner.

Now this fellow told me that such an tool was very very valuable and likely to be passed down from mother to daughter and a very rare find....as compared to arrow heads and spear heads.

It was very very interesting to put such an item in your hands and measure the fit...the thumb indentation from use.

    A rare find indeed.

I consider that fellow as educating me and completing my education about certain American Indian traditions and habits/customs.

Oh...and this fellow also told me that the Native Indians had a crude trade routes by which goods could get across this land and knew of other distant tribes by way of these routes...

They could move goods across the land if need be...by trade...news as well.

I never had any reason to think this far until speaking with this fellow....I am glad I ran unexpectedly into him.

Some reading for those interested in the oligarchic Machiavellian rape of Western nations:

    https://www.strategic-culture.org/news/2020/12/21/europe-machiavellian-moment/

"It is still too early to say, but perhaps the U.S. election is the beginning of a new ‘Turning’ (in the sense of the ‘Fourth Turning’). Of course, what happens in the U.S. is most people’s primary focus now; but even as that plays out over the coming year – perhaps chaotically – the seeds sown on 3 November, and in its aftermath, take us to a pivot: Does the centralising project of progressive ‘wokedom’ in Blue America, and in Merkel’s Europe, have the ‘grit’ to persevere – or will its leaders fold in the face of the approaching crises – and concomitant public anger?

"The Project has three main pivots: the centralisation of Big Tech and MSM; the concentration of banking and financial tech, within centralised Central Banking; and Merkel’s centralisation of politics in Europe, at the head of an empire claiming to occupy the ‘moral high-ground’.

You members do what you want with this information...but this is what I have seen of recent with mine own eyes...twice...

I stopped by the bank to get some cash out for the holidays..and observed twice now an interesting phenomenon where I go to buy silver.

Twice now I've seen this same fellow with a bag of cash..and I mean thousands of dollars...and buying gold....

What I detect is the observation that long term he would rather have the gold than the dollars...and I mean thousands in one transaction....

Anything but dollars...anything more liquid than dollars...

I watched him buy over 30 K in gold...

    And this twice now......

    Very interesting.

I have been told/taught that when people begin moving rapidly into PM's....something is up..with the dollar.....the M factor is going up rapidly.

People do not want to get caught holding dollars...they are voting no confidence...with their feet and away from dollars.

You members do what you want with this information ....free ...no cover charge.

My strategy is to pay land taxes as soon as possible . With an crashing economy and communist take over I am not sure of what to expect but do expect something bad . Any loans where they are holding collateral , I would be trying to correct that weak link . Unsecured loans aren't good either but not as vulnerable to a tragic result . -- I can't eat gold and silver so my focus is on food and clothing after a total collapse . Perhaps or perhaps not future taxes can be paid with gold and silver . Communist seem to always seize property and I suspect will be looking for the means to do so , so it can be redistributed to those that the rulers deem more worthy . " voted the right way "

    "no cover charge"

Thanx dude for not charging me! I'm now myself going to do one of those life (4me, end of life) data-dumps and I'm not gonna charge a dime. OK, so if you want to send me a silver dime, I'll take it. (A 90% dime will get you $1.70 US. Dealers don't want to buy silver right now; who's selling anyway?!; people are hording like mad.)

"Twice now I've seen this same fellow with a bag of cash..and I mean thousands of dollars...and buying gold...."

This gold-buyer was being MEGA-uncool! He put himself in extreme danger. For all the violent felons in prison, there are multi-fold that walking the streets. Hordes among this lot will split your skull for less than one hundred dollars. Dumb@$$ money/gold flasher could have easily had someone follow him home. Many fellows without any record whatsoever have friends with fangs. So in a bar, somebody who witnessed this transaction talks about what he saw at the coin store. Such talk could turn out to be exceedingly bad news for Mr. Moneyman.

When doing big deals, you gotta have some serious weight at your six'o'clock. OR be connected. When my dad dropt dead on me in high school, I had to sell my dad's machines. Dad didn't leave us much insurance money at all. I had to arrange/pay-for my dad's funeral. The fellow to whom I made this business sale nobody messed-with, OK (the transaction was arranged by family), . I let him count / lay-down the one-hundreds; flap, flap, flap, ... . I did NOT count the money in front of him, nor stare at the money as he slapped down the bills -- that would have been disrespectful. Bad thing, don't ever do that. If you ever see "deals" done in the movies where the seller counts the cash, that is one enormous lie.

Unless somebody is "known" they'd better NOT flash cash.

We as preppers better have this burned into our heads. If you have EVERYTHING you need during a SHTF situation, then you don't gotta worry about this. If you have survival money (i.e. not paper) and you are making a purchase/payment, do NOT do this in front of anyone other than your six'o'clock folk; he'll have his backup also. There's a lot to be said about handling everything professionally. Even if you are paying-off the cops, they gotta act professional and understand that you need your mates behind you -- they sure as hell have theirs. Never deal with psycho cops. The clean cops are the ones to pay-off -- they will keep their mates in line. Honor is the thing.

Things are as they are. We are what we are -- and no more.

When everything goes full-bore bad news, bank doors will be chained. Safety deposit boxes will be totally inaccessible ... except to the Feds who will be confiscating EVERYTHING in those boxes.

In the not-too-distant future, I see gold being made illegal to own; like next year. During the last depression, gold was made illegal to own ... well, the common man was not allowed to own real money. Oligarchs get to keep their gold and their body-guards, and, and, and ... . The movie industry is going to receive stacks of our tax dollars for Chinacovid "relief". Starving waiters and waitresses aren't so important, but keeping the propaganda machine going is absolutely essential.
