Our troll max had gone off-topic stating that there was going to be no societal breakdown, therefore I provided evidence that society has already begun breaking down.

If I go off topic, someone else has fired the first shot. I will always return fire.

And besides, "going off topic" seems a venial sin compared to the mortal sin of trolling.

Apparently, anger-inciting anti-preppers are allowed to post here. At least one does ... and for the express purpose of making trouble. If you have a home-invader, what is the proper response? Ignore the invader? Pretend that the uninvited guest didn't defecate on the floor?

Oops, sorry, I went off-topic again. At least I didn't poo the carpet.

To be honest I can't say I respect your right not to have the jab but if you want to stay in lockdown then that is your choice, there are no logicical reasons for you to say no to the vaccine other than some medical conditions, listening to fake news and fear.

Like you said, collapse at a societal level will happen somewhere along the line, can't see revolution in the West being a threat, nor world war; my money is on another virus. We've been very lucky with covid 19, very very low death rate but perhaps the next one won't be so kind.

There are a good number of reasons not to get there new vaccines. Most have to do with new and non-tested technologies. Some have to do with preexisting health conditions. All vaccines are tested 6 months to a year for known and proven technologies. These were tested 2 months. Same as untested. Will you buy a car the first year a new model is on the market? Usually takes 2 or 3 years to get the bugs worked out. All new tech is that way, even medicine. Locally, I know more medical professionals that aren't getting the shots, than are.

not revolution but world war is always a possibility, maybe with China but more likely NK or Iran.
whether I or others have the jab or not is my personal decision its none of your business.
if I DO have one it will be because I have been forced to have one, in that case we really will know that that we have lost our freedom to choose for ourselves.

It appears the group huddled behind the razor wire here in the U.S. want to mandate by decree the end of manufacturing liquid fueled vehicles . Dates for the manufacturing shutdown has been floating around . All part of agenda 21 , to fulfill their promise to herd people into cities . This seems to be going in the direction of Cuba and their citizens keeping those old cars and trucks running . This may call for mechanical knowledge , auto parts and fuel could be an issue . A lot of things need to be considered for the proper bugout vehicle for oneself . Like how far do you expect to need to go ? Is this route down highways that might have a hoard of stalled vehicles ? Is this route through a area that contains degenerates that might try to stop you and steal your bugout vehicle ? --- My group is still working in case of the very unlikely scenario of us evacuating , an evacuation by air . We have no intention of ending up like some refugee trying to escape a country fallen under its inept leadership by floating across the ocean on a log , in a home made raft or hiding in the wheal well of a commercial jet airplane . Our 17 year old pilot flew by my house about 3 days ago . He now has his private license and is now working on his commercial license . --- We also have a secondary fallback position in country that has shelter , year around spring and abundant wild game . The right escape craft for the situation at hand could become priceless .

I will borrow a script from the movie " Water World " and say that the catamaran sailing craft isn't that illogical for an survival escape craft . The biggest draw back I could see would be the issue of fresh water . The way things are shaping up as we move closer to the full installation of agenda 21 , the escape from all land masses may be a desirable option .

    Good afternoon Poltiregist,

The drinking water matter has been solved. There are now small size R.O. - Reverse Osmosis - distilleries than can run off of mast mounted windmills.

There's a small suitcase size portable R.O. distillery the Aussies developed. See rainmandesal.com. This model can be kept at home and carried to raft. They are a little expensive when not properly pricing their true value. For a small group, they are not expensive. See if anything's on the web re the Rutland 914i windmill. It also accepts solar input.

There's even a new 'invention" to get drinking water from the sea. It's, I believe< also an Aussie invention using electricity and bertain membranes (sp?).

I am now in the mood for a bourbon and water.

I stand corrected. The U.K. has solved its immigration and violence issues. No more riots can possibly happen. All is peace and unity. When the bills come due and currencies tumble, everyone will roll-up their sleeves and put things to rights. Rioting is a thing of the past and will never raise their ugly heads ever again.

Electric cars run on whatever was burned to create the electricity to charge the cars.

In the USA, electric cars run on coal.

The UK has not see riots in ten years. The USA in 2020 saw over 14,000 people arrested for riots and @20 dead, sort your own laundry out before washing ours.

I fully recognize that the USSA is in dire straights and that these issues will not be sorted out short of a civil war. Our riots are going to grow in intensity 1,000 fold. The urban areas of America are going to go toast.

That England hasn't seen a repeat of 2011 is nothing short of a miracle. Immigrants from vi0lent countries continue to pour into the U.K.. The "no go" areas widen. One incident where some British copper nukes a minority and you will have your 2011 again -- accept maybe this time more violent.

Meanwhile, instead of riots, knifings in London are now the order of the day. Everybody has gotten used to the routine stabbings.

"Some sacrifices have to be made," right?! Just, get used to violence. Wow, how civilized!

    ahttps://www.dailywire.com/news/flashback-muslim-mayor-london-told-citizens-get-michael-qazvini

"At a glitzy event in New York City called 'Building Progressive, Inclusive Cities' alongside his counterpart in the Big Apple, far-left Mayor Bill de Blasio, Khan talked about the virtues of immigration and multiculturalism, explaining that some sacrifices had to be made.

"Terror attacks are 'part and parcel of life in a big city,' Khan later told the Evening Standard just hours after police foiled multiple terror attacks in New Jersey and New York.

" ... After a series of terror attacks in France, the French Prime Minister told his countrymen that France 'will have to live with terrorism.' In other words, terrorism is the new normal."

I'm inclined to agree with you Max, but I consider the BLM protests and the toppling of statues (the howling mob )as a Riot, thankfully in the UK this all seems to have gone quiet, probably everyone is focusing on the US election and staying safe during the pandemic.
have seen some stabbings in the news but mostly in London, probably gang related.

BLM has become a political movement and people are not that stupid, BLM is not been talked about that much in the UK. I tend to think the statue thing was based more on the need to blow off some lockdown steam more than political conviction.

large populations are usually self evident on UK maps just by the size of the area, I like to look places up on the internet and make a note of population numbers, however the simplest way would be just to avoid residential areas wouldnt it?

    Good morning BSHJ,

I've worked on this. It's really about the IMMEDIATE changes.

Using what Lonewolf worote above, the cities and surroundings have the highest densities. A public belief that, for example, a hurricane is close - even before public sector authorities announce an evacuation on the officially designated routes, changes the densities. The roads are loaded with vehicles. Once an official alert, only the evac route remain open. The side roads are closed.

    Think of a funnel.

The immediate change from Tidewater, Virginia, will see the metro population centers driving west (Hampton Roads, Washington, D.C., Phila, Pittsburgh (actually going SW). There will be no gasoline stations with fuel, no lodging, no restaurants (even after COVID restrictions end). Public safety and security limited to official evac roads.

I've worked this as both a private citizen, a volunteer emergency responder and a reserve Federal Emergency Manager working a national program. If Texas has electric grid problems, the national evac road situation is worse.

Won't even mention enroute medical facilities.

We must all be self-sustaining and know, like that song, "when to hold them, when to fold them", for timing of planning stages being activated.

Remember, on a crowded road, there will be vehicle fires, vehicles stuck in road, next to road, criminals walking up to slow-moving vehicles.

At least with our pilot we now have the ability to quickly drop into any airport for an extraction . This is important to our group as several in our group move around from disaster area to disaster area restoring electricity over the entire United States . If things get too side ways the person needing evacuation needs only to get to a usable runway and they can be in our survival retreat in just a matter of hours and avoiding all the human kind between the extraction point to a nearby tiny airport . -- A few years ago there was a real concern whether two of our group would be able to leave Porto Rico , working the hurricane aftermath . Today we could send in our own extraction aircraft . While in Porto Rico things were so dicy they had armed mercenaries guarding them 24 hours a day .

A true get in and out of Dodge story that I have posted before , but some may have missed . After the aftermath of hurricane Katrina , my daughter and I was given cash by a local college near our survival retreat to help rescue some folks stranded deep within the destruction . We had been warned roads were being blocked and people being robbed in the devastated area . We loaded up many cans of gasoline and hid them under a blanket in the back of my suv as the gas attendant at the station heard us talking and had tears running down her cheeks when she realized what was our objective . She even offered to house any refugees we retrieved . Two hundred and fifty miles before our destination we saw the last operating gas station , as all electricity was non-existent from that point . That meant five hundred miles running on the fuel we were toting . Some very harrowing things we witnessed on that trip . We passed out food to the stranded , shared gasoline with a stranded couple and succeeded in extracting three people . ---- If such an situation should again arise we could swoop in with an airplane to a local runway do the extraction and be gone without taking such a risk .--- The sum of life experiences often is what crafts a serious prepper .

Thing is in America, should urbanites head for rural areas, even areas where one wouldn't think many, if any, people live there, landing in nowheresville can easily get those urbanites shot ... in "peaceful days". I've a dozen stories at least concerning people I've known over the years who've about gotten a bad dose of lead poisoning.

When in high school, a crew of elder classmates went out in the boonies to smoke dope and drink. They picked the wrong man's barn. He shot into them with buckshot. One girl lost some of her back teeth to a blue whistler.

Grammar school, friend and I were in a wooded area taking apart fireworks to get the gunpowder out of them. We had our fireworks out on a stump and cutting the stuff open with our pocket knives. His brother walking along a county road saw us and threw an M80 into the woods. BOOM!; scared the wits outa us. See, we were adjacent to a man's field who was known to shoot at any interlopers; adults, kids, it didn't matter; he was psycho mean. We were shaken because we thought that old man had shot at us. My friend's brother was screaming laughing at us.

When I scout roads, I am totally in "I could take fire" mode. In my home state, rural folk are much more likely to open up on you. This state is kind'a sissified. And then I've heard some stories (one in particular) out of North Georgia where some outsiders started to get hunted down by two or three crews in pickups -- they lived to tell their story, obviously.

Urbanites should consider that if they make it to where they think that they'll be safe, they will actually be on turf already claimed by others ... which is very, very bad. The warning shots will come straight at them.

Thing is that outsiders imagining that they can just set up camp on property that belongs to locals IS TOTALLY INFURIATING. Understand that the locals claim the government land next to their own land. Some arrogant puke stating that, "This is government land, so you have no say!" could end up being buried there. During good times, outsiders are hated. Post SHTF, they will be shot.

the trouble with any evacuation is people will only have as much fuel as is in their fuel tank, most wont have any extra and the filling stations are liable to be empty of fuel.
so you have people driving en masse on a major highway, queues(lanes) of slow moving traffic using double the amount of fuel they would normally, fairly quickly there will be stranded vehicles, out of fuel, traffic accidents, stressed people get agitated, violence follows, and the main highway will resemble a car park/parking lot.
the only time to leave is BEFORE everyone else, if its a false alarm you may come back with "egg all over your face" but at least you'll be alive, cant say the same if you leave with everyone else.

Fuel stations will be the gas tanks of other cars. People steal. Need fuel? Knock a hole in the gas tank of a stranded vehicle. Urbanites are mostly unarmed and cannot defend themselves against groups of aggressors.

In a panic, some people fight back, some freeze, and some panic and run. Nice people turn into thieves. Mean people go worse, they go violent. In bad times, those who never had any empathy inside them in the first place, feed off of those who cannot protect what they have.

The more people a country has who are by nature incapable of suppressing their aggressive urges, the worse things will get. This is the problem in urban America. Things go the least bit wrong, these people riot and loot. When the day comes that they cannot sustain themselves by looting the cities, they will predate in the suburbs; indeed, many urban gangs predate upon the suburbs already. Most aggressors get by with this because their victims do not open fire on them.

In the rural America I know, predators will be shot. When things really let go in America, the people of rural regions will have to teach roving packs what their predatory behavior buys them. And, rural areas WILL see roving packs. The suburbs will have been overrun.

In the rural America that I know, knocking holes in fuel tanks WILL get you shot -- especially when law enforcement goes totally overstretched. Post SHTF, people's emotions will be in full explosive mode. There will be profoundly few people in the "caring and giving" mode.

in Britain whilst there may be some who will act aggressively, they probably already do so no change there, most will be like "rabbits in a headlight" and not know what to do, they will look to the govt and other agencies to help them, lets hope that the govt and agencies survive or these people wont.

Correct in your prediction , as I witnessed in the masses trying to escape the aftermath of hurricane Katrina . With electricity thus gas stations non operable for about a distance of 350 miles from south to north and I really don't know how wide east to west , the main highways were lined nearly bumper to bumper for hundreds of miles with automobiles stalled with no gas . However they did pull to the sides of the road as their vehicles sputtered and stopped . At all gas stations though there was lines of automobiles waiting in line that stretched for miles ,as they figured " one day " power would be restored and the station would again open back up . Gas station owners were guarding their stations . People had no choice but to relieve themselves in full view of their new neighbors . There they sat day after day . -- Desperation was so acute that I recall one guy hanging out of his nice fairly new pickup truck holding a sign that read " title for a ride " . What I didn't see was a hoard of people walking down the road . They seemed resigned to just sit there and die or be rescued . A different location I figure might see a different reaction .

    1. Old Geezer
"They seemed resigned to just sit there and die or be rescued." Uuuuhhhhhh, that's more than a little bit strange. That's way past creepy. In S.Appalachia culture, a person is supposed "to do something." Right or wrong, "get up and do something." Here's a phrase I heard when a kid: "Don't just sit there, sh##, go blind, or catch on fire, do something for god's sake!" This is usually said to someone who is being lazy. When faced with the most horrible whatever, freezing was NOT an option. I've seen people freeze under tragic circumstances. When a young man, I couldn't figure out what had happened to them. I'd never witnessed it as a kid; I had no point of reference. I've run past these "frozen zombies" to help people. Once ran to aid a person having a grand mal siezure; at least three -- count'em THREE -- people went frozen standing, like some form of catatonia. Freaking bizarre! Humans are a bizarre species, I guess.

I believe native Brits will act like you say. It's the immigrants I believe you will have difficulty with. Many of them have already survived very bad places to get to England, so they know how to survive. In the media it appears that a percentage of that population already are "aggressive" in there day to day lives. What are your thoughts?

I said in another post that we'd been lucky with covid and the low death rate. Imagine something with a forty or fifty percent death rate, the USA and UK would have had a crippled senior government in no time at all and a failure of mains power/water/gas for possibly a prolonged period of time.

Max, your post above is just not correct. It's not even anchored in reality.

There are already exercised and refined plans to prevent "crippled senior government".

There are the COGCONS - the Continuity of Government programs ... something parallel to the DEFCONS like used during nuclear confrontations. Both COGCONS and DEFCONS work; I've participated in both.

Already "written off" if there's a major power failure, water mains loss, related, ... there are areas of NYC with ~ 1 million people living in no cost housing to them. Again: "written off". A similiar environment and situation in Chicago. Other places on list.

I know for a fact that rural counties of the UK (especially those a long way from the capital) will be "written off"/ left to their own devices by TPTB in a catastrophic event, they will want to concentrate their efforts on the cities, London and one or two others.

Wrong, its very much reality. There are plans for 'designated survivor' sort of thing but it would not be a smooth transition it could takes days and it don't take long for major social flare ups to occur in a situation like that. You could very easily end up with people in power who simply lack the knowledge, experience or sheer guts to do a good job. We did have a lot of planning and facilities in place during the cold war for such an event but not sure how much is still in place and or up to date. This is wear your preps come into place, pull up the drawbridge, keep a low profile and see which way the wind blows.

Anyone needing some centralized government to protect them are dead from the get-go.

Historically, "governments" were just packs of the most aggressive who predated on the unarmed.

Whether one is talking Magna Carta or U.S. constitution, it has always been recognized that the only path to freedom is through the agency of self-sufficiency to include the basic human right of being able to individually defend one's home, one's family, one's people. Welcome to Human Nature 101.

Among intelligent peoples, leadership springs from the most capable people. "Mr. So'n'so can engineer almost anything and he is liked by his workers, so lets put him in charge of repairing the most needed equipment, that's one of my motions. Also, Old Lady McBride is from a family of builders and simply knows everybody in the construction business, I make the motion that we put her in charge of gathering and contracting carpenters and masons to rebuild our core buildings that have suffered great damage. ... With these proposals, is everyone ready to vote or have we overlooked something here?!" Smart communities do smart things and have a tendency to get rid of aggressive idiots -- even if they have to bury them out in the woods somewhere.

Without everybody being armed, the aggressive idiots form what is generally referred to as "centralized government". Get rid of such people. They are bad for civilization. They are bad for the gene pool.

    Good morning Max,

You continue to display your lack of having any involvement in what is really going on ...... you're not even talking to someone in UK who is involved.

You do not know what is configured for governmental continuity. You probably think the US Department of Housing and Urban Affairs and Department of Education are key components.

You've never heard of Erik Prince (sister was Trump's Secretary of Education) and his ~ 30 private sector military organizations on contract to the US Government.

Key US geographic sectors are already set up and in continuity mode.

Everything is ready and on standby for notice to activate.

Max is right to a certain amount but in the event of an EMP or something similar all government and state apparatus will shut down pretty quick here in the UK, with no power, no manufacturing or resupply will be possible, so things will grind to a halt.
we arent even prepared nationally for the first storms of winter, get snow on the railways or the wrong sort of leaves on the line and that all stops, the roads arent much better, sure we have snow ploughs but we dont necessarily have the supply of road grit needed, in a country where it dosent snow hard that often such supplies are often wasted money.
in a major national or world event the UK government will retreat to the capital and maybe one other city(Birmingham probably) and everywhere else will be left to get on with it as best we can, they dont much care what happens in the provinces even in normal times, I'm under the impression that most politicians in London think the south west stops at Bristol anyway.
anyone relying on the govt for survival post SHTF is dead meat.

    Good morning Lonewolf,

The US is already hardened to protect against EMP.

For US critical infrastructure ... it also involves critical foreign assets ... it will be protected as it has been protected.

One US foreign asset that is designated as critical is the US owned refinery at Bantry Bay, Irish Republic. Rest assured Northern Ireland will have a role in protecting the refinery on the Emerald Isle. Holy Loch, Scotland won't be going independent.

What in government has "smooth transitions" ?! People in power in the US and UK will do a good job - like usual. These people just might not be on official payrolls. These folks are just not featured in People Magazine and social media. Max has little knowledge of what's going on nor seeks to acquire any knowledge of this.

    He is wrong.

there have been plans for any major event in the UK say nuclear or EMP since the mid 80s and to my knowledge those still exist, most of it is centred around London, govt power base, and there are plans to take over control of all major road systems for military and emergency use only, civilians will be banned they wont want people wandering all over the place getting in the way, so bugging out may be banned too.
there used to be bunkers for the elite in government etc but most of these have now deteriorated and arent fit for use. there may be a few we dont know about.
of course if the power plants and power grid blew nobody would be going anywhere or doing much other than trying to survive and that goes for the govt too.

    Good afternoon Lonewolf,

    You clearly described the environment.

The UK has some hardened facilities immune from EMP.

Of course, you're right re private citizens. No bug out to the Shetland Islands, no big game hunting around Brize Norton RAF base, near London, no surf casting at White Cliffs of Dover. If the Br authorities need manual labor such as unloading trucks, anticipate evacuations that might assist in unloading trucks. It's the same here.

LW, by definition alone, "the elite ...etc" will be in well-appointed and safe places. Not too much is new under the sun.

the modern UK government, of whatever party, arent that well known for their organisational skills, most actions are reactive rather than proactive, in other words they only act AFTER an event actually happens and its normally too little and far too late, for instance the flooding in Somerset a few years ago.
The British Elite are London-centric and care very little what happens in the other areas of the UK, it wouldnt take much for this area of the country where I live to get cut off from the rest of the nation, it has happened before in recent times so is not unheard of, it only got sorted because it wasnt a national catastrophe, and there were people to repair the infrastructure , if it was a SHTF event I suspect rural areas like this would be left to their fate, its a common preconception, assumption, in this area.

I accept all above as correct.

Ref: "most actions are reactive"; This allows for the exceptions. Besides greater London and a couple of big cities, a couple of exceptions with "elites" being there even if only for the safe sheltering:
    - Preswick Airport and the offshore oil fields.
    - Holy Loch
    - Northern Ireland
    - I forgot the name but that RAF base with the submarine patrol aircraft won't be sacrificed.

This setup is about the same here although magnified because of the geographic size.

Unless things have changed in the last ten years or so I do have a reasonable knowledge of the emgergency comm systems that would come online quickly if needed and these are independent of satellites so a communication network UK wide would be up and running very quickly. The problem remains of who would pick up the reins and take control if we had a deadly virus arrive. Look at Trump and think how many would have died from working with him or attending his mass infection rallies.

Here is a good (old) film for you, the full version is online if you fancy watching it

Good thread this, I'm going to watch Doctor Strangelove later tonight, cracking movie. Sleep well.

I am sure the UK critical infrastructure mimics the US programs....hardened against nuc/EMP/terrorist (eg no road accdess to facility).

Both the UK and US did - and are still - working on control of a highly contageous virus. Emergency medical personnel mirror emergency responders, soldiers, ... They are pfresent in the UK and besides working on the pandemic issues, are also writing about it. Just recently I posted an article here on the situation in Wales as reported by a medical doctor working the emergency.

Not that many are dying in the US from COVID-19. Don't see why you inject Trump into this. The prepartions for mass medical emergencies started well prior to him entering politics and the medical institutions were - still are - working.

Must minimize my web movies due eye health matters. I loved the Dr Strangelove movie.

I have no worries about nuclear warfare. It is the weaponized mosquitoes that scares me. This, too, is being worked on by the emergency medical responders - although not that much in the news.

like I said most UK govt control, if the govt survived that is, is London Centric, there are various things that the council(local govt) are responsible for but all of it is AFTER an event has happened not before. these responsibilities only start after an event, there dosent seem to be anything that is prepared beforehand.
in the south west there is Hinckley Point power station in Somerset which is run by EDF a French company, Devonport Dockyard in Plymouth which is privately owned, the Devonport Naval base and various army barracks, all around the south coast, and all would be targets in the event of a military strike, other places in other areas of the country would also be targets but London itself-the seat of government in the UK- would probably be the main target, which is why I say IF the government survived.

    Good morning Lonewolf,

Your position is correct but why assume the UK government would be located in London at the onset of tensions?

If much of the UK gets knocked out, I can guess Canada and the US would have enroute vessels to generate electricity (like used in Haiti but it was a barge), have drinking water, hospital ships. I am discussing ~ 3% of the Brit population being cared for.

Note that even ICE London, Intercontinental Commodities Exchange, has alternate sites. They can afford them.

sorry, but in these modern times and with Biden in office I cannot see any help forthcoming from your side of the pond, as has already been said the days of "The Allies" is probably long gone.

3%? seems possible but probably only in the capital.

Don't rely on the wall charts to determine who can order responses. Biden is POTUS but others also have ability to make things happen.

LW, national assistance for a recovery won't be for London's recent immigrants or useless financial transactions people nor for St Andrews University's theology faculty. It would be for the relocated UK government - and this government might not include the Scottish chief of devolved state Sturgon (sp?) - recovery responders and military at pre-designated critical military facilities eg Holy Loch, North Sea oil fields, and the approaches to British Isles.

It's not a fair John Locke view; only reality. It's the same here.

I'm not sure where any UK govt would be relocated to, most previous govt bunkers are too far dilapidated to be of any use, so it could be out of the country, I know many years ago this was Canada, but maybe I'm wrong. I think there may be one in Wiltshire.
it certainly wont be down this end of the country.
thats even if the govt can get out of London in time, a surprise strike could be fatal for the govt.
