    https://consciousnessofsheep.co.uk/2020/11/06/the-narrative-problem-after-peak-oil/

"Another way of viewing this is that all of the central bank efforts at quantitative easing and ever lower interest rates have failed to resolve the consequences of peak oil. Not enough people have been left with disposable income (after the bills have been paid) to consume sufficiently to raise the price of oil to a point where the industry can remain profitable.

"Ironically, one of the oil industry’s response to this problem has been to go “green.” Energy companies are using non-renewable renewable energy-harvesting technologies to lower the energy cost of their operations in a final attempt to lower the oil price at which they can be profitable. But even this can only be a short term solution if the discretionary spending power of the wider economy continues to decline. Perhaps the more sobering interpretation of the post-2008 trends is that when those two trend lines meet, industrial civilisation is over.

"For the moment, however, the continuing slump in oil prices will be treated by economists, politicians and establishment media journalists as proof that the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy is gathering pace. As a result, instead of making serious attempts to mitigate the damage that severe energy shortages will cause, they will continue to push the narrative that their mythical fourth industrial revolution is well under way.

"Yes, humanity will eventually revert to “green energy,” but not in the way techno-utopian fantasists imagine. Rather, as the energetic basis of the industrial economy collapses, those who survive will mainly be left with energy technologies like water wheels, windmills and sails to supplement human and animal labour power at an economic level not dissimilar, at best, to the early nineteenth century… that’s just what happens when you run out of gas!"

    Good afternoon Old Geezer,

Just spent > half hour at Tim Watkin's sheep.uk site.

    It is super.

At ENERGY section, read the 4 June 20 "Brown New Deal" art.

Article alludes to something but not discussed. When the overseas creditors ... it's Japan and China ... start to liquidate their holdings, there would be major riots here - unless - unless there is war.

I can't think of any other escape valve because no USG will likely transfer land with mineral rights to foreigners.

Glad you've found it useful. I have it earmarked.

"At ENERGY section, read the 4 June 20 "Brown New Deal" art."

China's has definitely cut back on purchasing U.S. debt -- that has been going on for a while. However, I've NOT been tracking that topic for some months now. Looks like I need to revisit that subject. America has turned into Wimpy. "I'll gladly pay you Tuesday, for a hamburger today."

Thanks for pointing this 4 June article out to me. I am now going to that section to read it.

Just read about the Brown New Deal. Yes, great stuff, thanks for pointing this out.

Would it not be mega-ironic were America FORCED into coal gasification.

Coal gasification can have it's little boo-boos. Kingsport Tennessee knows this. I've been near the the perpetual (24/7) 20ft blue plume flame generated by gaseous blow-off. Impressive, pretty.
    https://www.cbsnews.com/news/eastman-chemical-plant-kingsport-tennessee-explosion-reported/
"Eastman said a "process upset" in the area of the plant dealing with coal gasification caused a 'loud noise and a visible plume.' The company advised neighbors around the plant to remain indoors and turn off their air conditioning."

"Process upset", hmmmm, I'm gonna start using that term. Sounds much better than "explosion".

During WWII Adolf became dependent on coal gasification / coal liquefaction -- whichever term you wanna use.

When Allied Forces stomped the oil refineries in Romania, operation "Tidal Wave", that was an out-and-out body-blow to NAZI Germany. Solar plexis knockout. The bombings cut the oil output in half. Germany needed all of that plus sources from anywhere. This is a big reason Germany had to go to war with Russia -- to steal their oil fields.

Ever hear of the "Erwin nine"? They were bomb crew members shot down during WWII. They all ended up in the same German Stalag housing air crew prisoners. The Germans thought that Erwin, Tennessee had some super-important U.S. Army Air Corps. facility and thus sent a bunch of spies to the hills of Tennessee. Erwin actually always HAS been important to the military and is a military target for our enemies to nuke. The ball-bearing plant there was important, used to be a railroad hub, and now has a critical role in providing nuclear fuel to our Navy.

But during WWII, there was no Air Corps. facility there! Ha ha ha!!! Back during the 1980's a few of the Erwin Eight gave a talk at one of our manufacturing facilities and I was able to shake those most-noble hands. At least two of them had been part of the raids on the Romanian oil refineries. These fellows told of how dangerous those missions were -- German anti-aircraft guns were all along their route and when near the refineries, they caught absolute hell. There in the 1980s, a few had already crossed the Jordan. They are all gone to their Lord now. May God's Mercy be upon them all.

All poor wayfaring strangers gotta one day cross the Jordan.

Ernie was from Bristol TN/VA same age as uncle of mine, they were poor boys, knew each other, both wanted to get into music industry. And by God, they did. Ernie became a singer & made the big time, my uncle got into music producing & electronics to make that happen. This Trace Adkins is from way down in Louisiana; didn't know that, had to look him up. Gosh can Trace sing "Poor Wayfaring Stanger"! There is a young woman living in England who can put chill bumps on your arm when she sings this old spiritual, but I forget her name right now, dang-it; I mean she is brilliant. Adkins' video came up after Earnie sang, so glad this happened; glad the tradition lives on.

I guess this is a little Belgian girl:

    Good morning Old Geezer,

Most all of the global warming / climate change matters are about funding for governments via transfer payments. Coal is not that different from oil. Scrubbers are out of fashion because of pre-existing financial arrangements involving revenue flows to the right folks.

Yes, "process upset" is better than "explosion". Just added term to an index card next to "kenetic disassembly". Maybe Batman was right: "BOOM".

Only vaguely heard of Erwin Nine. My late friend was a Sgt York worshiper and he mentioned them.

Speaking of Bristol, .. Cabela's Bristol, Virginia moved a year or so ago to Bristol, Tenn consolidating with Bass Pro Outfitters. That whole area is nicer - and cleaner - than Tidewater, Virginia.

Going to electric cars will save us all!

https://nbc-2.com/news/2020/11/19/tesla-crash-sends-batteries-car-parts-flying-into-nearby-homes/#:~:text=Investigators said that hundreds of,separate homes, starting small fires.

OK, so there's some bugs to be worked out.

"CORVALLIS, OR / CNN — A wrecked Tesla became a launching pad for scorching projectiles after a high-speed crash in Oregon Tuesday night sent hundreds of car batteries flying towards nearby homes.

"Investigators said that hundreds of the Tesla’s hot batteries were thrown from the vehicle, and two of them crashed through windows at separate homes, starting small fires.

"Just next-door, another window was shattered by another flying battery. The family who lives there shared photos of the damage and said the hot battery started a small fire in a son’s bed. Fortunately, he wasn’t sleeping there at the time."

We are freezing our butts off in Texas because all of the wind turbines froze up and stopped. They closed down the coal fired plants and didn't build nuclear so for the last three days we have only had power off and on. It was 40F in my living room yesterday. THAT is what going green will do for you. The same idiots that sold the idea also were the ones that saved 5,000 dollars each by not putting heaters on them.

40F is nice when outside and moving around but it sucks pretty fast when you want to sit and watch TV or eat supper. It also sucks when the water main freezes so you are in the dark and the toilets don't want to flush.

We actually did pretty good. The propane heater kept things pretty tolerable in the bedrood that we camped in and I always have a lot of water in gallon jugs for both drinking and flushing.

We are still covered in snow and from what I am hearing people still have not figured out that they have to go SLOW. When this is over the plumbers and the car body shops are going to make a killing. When you normally only see snow once every 10 or 15 years it just isn't something that we are prepared for. I was raised on the coast and being prepared for hurricanes is similar so I am a lot better off than most. Food, water, cooking, and light is covered. I am definatly going to upgrade my propane heating.

I am getting close to 70 and this is at least twice the amount of snow and lasted 4 or 5 times as long as anything in the past. My Granddaughter is having a ball though so at least someone is happy.

    Good afternoon TexDanm,

You said it clearly: The prep for a hurricane is about the same for other perils.

Proper shelter, food/water, med kit, clothing, repair kit,...

Japan builds a nuclear reactor near an earthquake fault. Add to this, they build the puppy right on the ocean shore. Pure brilliance! Note that hundreds of years back, their ancestors erected carved mammoth stones reading "Don't build here." So what did they do? Yes, they built there.

    Can't top that, right?! Wrong.

Guess what they are going to do with all of the stored contaminated water!

    https://www.zerohedge.com/markets/j...oactive-fukushima-water-pacific-iaea-approves

"We live in a bizarre world: one where the the Keystone XL pipeline must be shut in case of a hypothetical (and extremely unlikely) leak, but where Japan is allowed to dump over one million tons of radioactive water into the Pacific Ocean. Actually, it's either bizarre or simply exposing just how profoundly hypocritical, self-serving and corrupt the ESG/Green/Greta Thunberg theater truly is.

"So an oil pipeline whose odds of leaking are virtually zero must be shuttered immediately, but a million tons of radioactive water is 'safe' and can be released into the Pacific Ocean, from where it will eventually finds its way into billions of humans around the globe.

"But wait, the insanity gets better: Japan's decision to release all this radioactivity into the ocean was backed by none other than the 'scientists' at the International Atomic Energy Agency, with Director General Rafael Grossi saying it is 'scientifically sound' and in line with standard practice in the nuclear industry around the world.

"So... the IAEA has a standard practice of what exploded nuclear power plants do with their fallout water? And how often has this particular standard practice been invoked we wonder?

"Between this and the covid debacle, one can almost see why nobody trusts the world's so-called
whores for hire scientists any more."

LOL LOL LOL Olde Geezer.....here check this out..I have been by this nuclear power plant in California on the interstate right next to the Pacific Ocean..

San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station - Wikipedia

    Now....about this...

Most people do not know what the treatment process is for this water.....versus....highly radioactive water....

This water is sometimes called controlled processed water....

What most people do not know about radioactive water or other contaminated liquids from shipboard nuclear reactors out as sea.......what do you think they do with this stuff....?? I know what they do with this stuff....

Again ...how about those Kardashians and or ESPN??????

People think they are so safe behind their remote controllers and steering wheels!!!

This treated water in the article is not the same as untreated primary reactor water...

I have looked down into an open uncovered reactor and seen the fuel cells suspended in primary water...
That is all that separates you from these highly radioactive fuel cells...is water...

Water is a type of shielding.....most people do not know this....

Water tanks and even diesel fuel tanks are used as a type of shielding up against Nuclear reactors to save on weight ...save on using alot of lead....weight savings...
As the diesel fuel is used up water is put into the diesel fuel tanks....they can separate the diesel fuel from the water...

They are talking about controlled processed water....not primary unprocessed water...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_cancelled_nuclear_reactors_in_the_United_States

"List of cancelled nuclear reactors in the United States"

Algore the genius, had the following written for him:

"Of the 253 nuclear power reactors originally ordered in the United States from 1953 to 2008, 48 percent were cancelled, 11 percent were prematurely shut down, 14 percent experienced at least a one-year-or-more outage, and 27 percent are operating without having a year-plus outage. Thus, only about one fourth of those ordered, or about half of those completed, are still operating and have proved relatively reliable."

All naval Nuclear Reactors are of a design called PWR or Pressurized Water Reactors....

The olde commercial design of reactors is called Boiling Water Reactors..or BWR of which is the design at Fukashima, Japan

In a boiling water reactor the primary water boils and makes steam which is then piped directly to the turbines which turn a shaft and thus turn the generators....meaning the turbines and or shafts are radioactive/contaminated.

In a Pressurized Water Reactor/PWR the primary water is heated to a very high temperature and then goes to a steam generators wherein secondary water is heated and then piped to the turbines, shafts to turn the generators. Thus the Turbines are not radioactive or contaminated. Big difference....also more expensive...but over the long run safer..

I suspect that a great many of the Shut Down Reactors are of the early Boiling Water Reactor design.

The San Onofre Nuclear power plant was shut down when the newly installed Pressurizer was found to be leaking primary to secondary contamination..into the turbines. A pressurizer is a one of a kind very very expensive piece of equipment.

In a PWR desgin ....water samples are constantly being taken to check for contamination levels to see if there is a leak ..primary to secondary systems in the Reactor Pressurizer...

San Onofre Nuclear plant is the newer PWR design.

It appears they purchased a defective pressurizer...and work on a pressurizer is a very very high radiation/contamination exposure job..

    Good afternoon Watcherchris,

Without me spending a few hours on the web, can you clarify .....

the mentioned San Onofre is not a replacement for the Diablo Canyon closed plant ?

I'm getting blurry on this. I remember Mohawk Valley, NY was either closed down at same time as Diablo Canyon, CA or maybe these were just sites to start building.

    Thanks in advance.
