Spot on post LW but firearms are hot wired into American DNA. The 2nd Amendment is a convinient label to allow mass firearm ownership. I've worked with many Americans and have a handful I call true friends, most own or have no issue with guns some won't have a gun in their house but...its the norm to own a gun in many parts of the USA. Dad will buy his 12 year old a .22 rifle for his birthday...its normal for them. Brits are just not interested in owning one (and they can) and as you say, apart from the target shooters the bulk of legal firearms here are for hunting/vermin control etc.

An example of decadence in the U.S. . When I was in high school all self respecting boys carried a knife . We played knife throwing games at recess . I recall one boy that brought his shotgun and propped it up in the back corner of the class room , so he could shoot some squirrels for supper when he walked home from school . Our agriculture teacher would sometimes give all the boys a big long bladed kisser blade to go into the timber to clear underbrush . One boy brought his newly acquired pet possum and hung it up by its tail hanging in the back of a classroom closet . Nobody locked their doors at night --- We had zero problems with violence associated with our practices . -- We are now living in a violent un-disciplined era . Years later about 200 yards from that rural school building some black kids walked into an old country store and shot an old white woman multiple times with a 22 cal. rifle , just because they wanted to kill a white person . What has changed the people to become animalistic ?

Back in the latter 1700s, the American states did NOT trust any sort of national government. They were all too well aware of the conditions they left behind in Europe and they sure as hell were not going to put up with it on this side of the Atlantic. To many Americans the very concept of not being able to own firearms is alien to them. Come out into the rest of the world and the concept of pretty much universal gun ownership is an alien concept; neither view will change but you have to live with the mass shootings and we don't.

Gaining a firearms certificate is still on my 'do list', I want to take up target shooting and not from a home defense point of view; purely sport.

Talking of 'to do' lists, anyone else here have one? a 'bucket list' sort of thing?

 

The snow has finally melted enough for me and few more of my group to reach the remote mountain area we have targeted , to potentially buy another survival fallback position . This terrain is so rugged and steep we are considering all sorts of unconventional structures . On the table are a treehouse , dugout , rock house , cave , log house or simply pull in a camper . This bucket list will be investigated into becoming a reality in a few days .

 

As to most people on Earth being content to have government deny them the firearms they could possible need to defend themselves from the damned, I could not conceivably care less. Many people are overtly masochistic. Some women write love letters to their rapists who are doing time in prison. Some men like being beaten by other men. I am profoundly grateful to my Creator for His having granted me the inability to understand such sick behavior.

Genetically intact, i.e. intelligent, adult human beings ARE able to control their behaviors. Adult humans do NOT allow their glandular desires to override their intellect. Subhumans are inferior to this task and thus should be neutered before they can reproduce; or if aggressive, be permanently isolated or eliminated from real humans.

The only way to deal with a bully is with physical force. When I was a little boy, on two occasions I had would-be bullies start in on me. I punched each in the face. I hurt them. I made them cry. When a boy, during a football game, I had an opposing lineman larger than me try to intimidate me; therefore, I began slamming into him with all of the force of my body. I hurt him. I've had someone try to get into my house at 3:00AM, but I had a pump shotgun with 6 rounds of buckshot. When I discussed the situation with the would-be home invader, he made the correct choice to leave my property. I do not bluff; I have zero qualms about killing other human beings if they go aggressive. Negotiations mean NOTHING unless backed up by physical force.

Anyone who believes that they were born on a nice planet where others of their species default to nice is either base ignorant or overtly delusional.

I wish I lived in a nice world; however, I don't live in a nice world. Were I given a pair of "magic ruby slippers", which when clicked, would grant me any wish, I would proceed to punch the liar in the face who thought he could run some scam on me with his cheap red-sequined shoes.

The fact is that criminals that shoot people are probably NOT going to say, I would kill someone today...but it is agaist the law for me to have a gun...

The ONLY people that are affected by restrictive guns laws are the hoest law abiding citizens. Call a cop sometime and wait for an hour for them to show up. After that you understand that ALL the police are good for is to come and take a statement after the criminal is done with you IF YOU SURVIVED. I have had a gun since I was 8 years old. I have never shot or killed anyone. I honestly don't know anyone that has used their gun to kill someone. I do know several people that sent a burgler running and a few that managed to avoid being harmed because they were armed. I am one of those people. It is pretty amazing watching 5 men that were planning on beating me to a pulp run all over eachother trying to get in a car and get gone when I pulled out a gun. LOL, it was a sawed off single shot 12 ga. I only had one shell but that one was more than enough.

A gun in my pocket means that I can take and enjoy my long night time walks. Nobody wants to get shot. Even if several thugs try and jump you, a gun makes them decide to NO mess with you. Since ANYBADY in Texas can and may have a gun it tends to make bad people a little more leary of messing with solitary people.

Personally I think that if someone shoots and kills an attacker, robber, or rapist they should be given a cash reward for eliminating a threat to our sociaty. Most two time convicted criminals can not be rehabilitated. They go to prison for a little while then are let out and they do it again usually withing less than a year.

 

Max, Not one criminal has ever been stopped from committing a crime because of a law. The UK regulates knifes, doesn't it? Has that prevented any stabbings? The 2nd Amendment has never been about hunting or sport. It never will be.

Ebay UK block knife sales which is not a good move really for hunters/campers/bushcrafters as it limits who you can buy off. For the average Joe a folding 3" is fine. The vast majority of knife attacks in the UK use cheap kitchen knives / garden machetes.

The US constitution was heavily influenced by the Magna Carta and some of its core elements and some brits helped draw up the Constitution but that said I'm not sure they would all be happy with the modern day interpretation of the 2nd Amendment, depending on how you look at it its being abused. All amendments can themselves be amended but I can't see that happening anytime soon with the 2nd.

Your happy with your gun laws/murders/mass shootings thats fine, its your choice but don't expect much support in your stance from the rest of the civilised world...you won't get any because the rest of the globe have got it all wrong and your country has got it right

 

We played that in the Scouts and the army cadets (when no seniors were around), we called it 'splits'.

I was told by an retired Army NCO, working in this shipyyard, who at one time in Vietnam was a Beachmaster....who would stand on the beach with a clipboard and count off the vehicles coming off these navy ships..the kind with the big doors which open up when they get to the beach and the vehicles drive off.

They did not want this oil on the market..but more important they did not want competing companies and or independents to get it out of the ground...

It is starting to happen....more and more and more....as more Americans are waking up to the barrage of racial "Herding" which has been going on for some time now.....

That some Americans would be put into social and economic bondage/involuntary servitude to pay more for their health care in order that others could get it for free.

Whenever in the news you hear of this "Special Relationship " America has with England....

And that is that England has had her hands tied for years and years by the European Union....

I am very gratified to hear about England resigning ala Brexit....to where England can get the profits from her production and or goods and services and not have to by treaty sell as European Union prices...and thus cutting into their profits.


Most Americans know little about this history.

England should have done this years and years ago to keep the profits from Her labor...and industries.


As treaties go...I am in agreement with the First President George Washington who is quoted as saying....Trade with everyone treaties with no one..

The proof is that only Americans can be so intrinsically stupid...as to go all over the world ....one war after another after another.....and not bring home any spoils...

The victors are supposed to get the spoils....right???

However....to be fair to the Englishmen here......before WW1...it was Englishmen and Frenchmen who went around the world dying and fighting for the Crown's profits...and were suitably buried all around the world.

The other history not told to people is that after Waterloo....it was and became the French with their La Grande Armee which was to go about the world and fight and die for Crown Profits...as is America today....

Interesting thing I learned here....

I own a WW 2 Japanese Type 99 Arisaka rifle still with the Emperors Chrysanthemum on it. It has not been ground off as have so many today. What is interesting to me is that when the Japanese upgraded from the 6.5mm Japanses cartridge they went to this which is often called the 7.7mm Japanese.
This rifle has the rattley dust cover and bayonette with it...monopod too.

When I reload for this calibration I take a standard 30.06 caliber brass case and reform it in a 7.7mm Japanese die...using plenty of lubrication. Then I cut it off to the proper length for the 7.7mm Japanese case, prime , powder and I insert a .303 British bullet into it. Usually a 150 grain bullet.

I've not shot it in years and years but have put back plenty of ammo manufactured in the above description and thinking I need to make more.

This rifle is in surprisingly good shape as compared to later years production when the quality control fell so bad in their desperation to produce war materials.

It is also reasonably y accurate for what it is in iron sights.

When I realized the history ..I found it interesting that the Japanese would choose the .303 calibration.

I do not believe that we should be interfering with British politics local or international...that is your responsibility.

There is something going on here for which very few people are aware.both in the UK as well as here in America.

And that is that there are certain American families with deep social and political ties....to governent and they have been there since before the American Revolutionary War and the founding of America.

And they have very strong ties to the English Government and some even to the Royals.


They have often used their influence to steer American Politics to favor their connections and profits...not only for themselves but for non Americans as well.

Not just in America but within the Canadian Government and influencial families as well.

One of them is the Bronfman family.....House of Segrams....yes...Crown Royal, Canadian Club et al. They are much much bigger than liquior....much much bigger.

I first ran across this information by an Author named Lyndon LaRouche....back in the 1980s...and he caught alot of flack for telling these connections and naming names...as well as corporate names.

In short what Lyndon LaRouche was doing which got him in so much trouble and he wound up in Jail....just like Roger Stonje and Rudie Guilliani...today...is hanging out the laundry of the Conspiracy..back then...and today ...the Deep State and it's connections to present leadership.

This is a huge no no.....

There have been other people in this country speaking up and telling names and corporations....on both sides of the Pond.....and have come under alot of flack for so doing ....and even some of these others went to jail for so doing.

He was drilling for water ...not for oil..but water. Also building huge water reservoirs to hold this water he was pumping out of the ground...making Libya green.

What Gadaffi would have done was to make his nation independent of the world banks dependent on phony fiat monies.

Question...If private citizens are not allowed to be armed then if things get bad what kind of "militia" would they be able to form. Bows and arrows against guns didn't do very well for the Native Americans even when the guns were muzzle loaders. Any government that fears to have its citizens armed is a government that is already heading towards deciding that they are not trustworthy enough to be led by and elected government. If he thought that he could I am sure that Biden would make himself king. Our guns ensure that we will STAY free. Refusing to give them up to the British Crown is what MADE us free.
