73 year old lady beaten up left with a broken arm, dislocated shoulder and sprained wrist in custody without medical attention....then the mother****ers laugh about it.
Loveland PD need to answer for this.
    https://eu.coloradoan.com/story/new...rn-colorado-elderly-womans-arrest/7239401002/
There is a huge sh**storm brewing because this has gone viral faster than George Floyd's death.
While the arrest took place last summer it has taken this long for Loveland PD to release the unedited body-cam footage of two officers slamming the frail 6 stone lady to the ground with her arms twisted behind her back. Their immediate supervisor deliberately turned off his body cam during and after the arrest when he was called to the scene by outraged members of the public.
This shouldn't just be a civil lawsuit, these animals should be prosecuted.

Almost all police in America have gone rogue.

Just last night on our road, police were beating up some Black people. I went outside and asked what was going on. One officer replied saying, "Don't worry sir, we are simply carrying out our mandate to oppress Black people."

Packs of police in America drive into Black neighborhoods in convoy where they shoot into houses and burn down Black businesses. No Black people are allowed to join police departments.

White America celebrates White supremacy by having hundreds upon hundreds of lynchings every weekend. This is a tradition like having tailgate parties at sporting events.

It is White people who commit armed robberies and murders. Whenever a store's closed circuit TV reveals that another out-of-control White guy is the culprit in an armed robbery, the video is altered using computer graphics to make it look like a Black man committed the crime.

Thanks Ystranc for pointing out the ongoing stream of police oppression of innocent Americans!

Perhaps you would be just as sarcastic if that was one of your relatives...maybe I should have pointed out that it was a white 73 year old lady that they hurt....no airbrushing necessary.

any facts to prove the above or is this just a personal opinion?
if you see Police in your road you are obviously not remote enough, I havent even seen A Policeman in my rural area let alone spoke to one for at least 5 or 6 years.

Did NOBODY watch the video. Her injuries were self inflicted from fighting to get free and how is any officer supposed to know that anybody has mental illness. It's not written on your forehead. From what I saw, she was being treated as gently as the situation allowed. The minimum force to detain her was what was used. Would you have felt differently if it had been a 20 year old, 120 pound female drug addict that had been stealing cough syrup? The officers actions would have been the same for the same conduct. If it would have been some 200 pound belligerent drunk guy, you would get to see being slammed to the ground. The officers were working with the information they had at that moment. You want to blame someone, blame Walmart for not letting her pay for the merchandise and ending it, instead of calling in a shoplifting theft.

My mother has dementia. She has beaten 4 male orderlies that tried to keep her from leaving the home she is in, and then made it over a 6 foot high chain link fence and she is 78. My great granny had dementia and would stand and shred brand new cotton sheets into strips just because she was upset.

Would you be willing to be injured because of how someone looks? Do some ride a long's with officers and see what they deal with every day.

FYI - Recreational use of marijuana is legal in Colorado.

Fighting? She weighed 6 stone.....and yes, I've worked in a mental health care unit and it is pretty obvious to me when a person is suffering from advanced dementia or some other cognitive impairment. He could have handled the matter so much better.
He failed to tell her her rights and failed to ensure that she received treatment for her arm shoulder and wrist.
She was placed in leg restraints that cut into her and left with her hands cuffed behind her with a dislocated shoulder and a broken arm...are you saying she broke her own arm?

They need to start procecuting cops that abuse their authority. Part of the problem is that cops have an us versus them mentality with us being only other cops and them as everyone else. That means that even when they see a cop beating or in some cases killing someone unnecessarily they won't pull their brother cop off or say anything. If we would start prosecuting not just the ones that are abusing their authority but also any that stand there and watch it without doing anything. One cop killed George Floid but there are several that are going to be prosecuted and should go to prison.

Any cop that can’t handle an old woman without harming her needs to be fired before some 7 year old kicks his butt! If they thought that was fun and funny I bet they will have a ball in prison. Convicts just love to get to know an ex-cop.

Ystranc, have you ever worked a psych ward? I sure have. I've had to keep one patient from beating the hell out of another patient.

My mom's dad worked a psych ward at a veteran's hospital for decades. He told me that patients routinely broke their own arms when going bat-sh## crazy (that's an oft-used medical term, by the way).

I have seen patients completely and totally in pure insane rage -- thus the phrase, "losing their mind". Animal eyes, no fear, no control, and their physical strength goes turbo because the mental/physical feedback mechanisms are gone, gone, gone. Pap kept some of the physical restraints they used on patients in his car garage. Before the psych drugs, the men had to wrestle-down the patients. Sometimes they'd drop a bar of soap (brand= Octagon) into a sock to knock-out the patients without causing skull fractures and subdural/epidural hematomas. When doing practicum at a VA psych ward I asked an elderly psychiatrist about these practices and he knew all about them. It was he who told me that the brand of soap used was Octagon.

I worked at a place called Fieldhead Hospital on a villa that looked after vulnerable prisoners from Wakefield prison, I also had some much lighter duties that included geriatric care for elderly clients with dementia. Some of my patients were vulnerable while others were potentially violent.
This was a long time ago.

When power is centralized, those holding power are extremely susceptible to felonious corruption. This is why the U.S. Constitution severely restricts the power of the national government. The U.S. Constitution gives the states the power to organize their citizens into fighting force and oppose the federal government with armed conflict (all men age 20 to 50 were part of the state militia; maybe you got a uniform, maybe you got a rifle, but it was up to you as a man to come up with your own equipment; you were in the militia, by God; stand up and be a man). Americans in the latter 1700s were not just a little angry about oppressive government. That fury sentiment is returning like a tidal wave.

And oh by the by, my dad and his brothers were all felons by trade. They paid-off the cops and/or dodged the cops. I told the story a couple of weeks back on this site about how the people of one county in S.Appalachia shot dead their mean sheriff. A friend of mine got pulled over in the eastern part of Knoxville. He got pulled over for being a White in a Black neighborhood -- cops thought he was there to by dope. He was told to get out of his car and put his hands on the roof. He then made the error of looking back at the cop. The cop grabbed him by the hair of his head and slammed his head against the roof two or three times.

Are there bad cops? Sure enough and trust me on this, they are equal-opportunity oppressors.

But here's the deal, Ystranc, what is being said about most cops is pure B.S.. Leftist dogma has it that cops are racist. You can't argue with born-again collectivists.

Truth is that cops are called into the ghettos by those living in the ghettos because one or more of their own has gone mega-violent. The people calling the police need help; they are afraid. So the cops are duty-bound to go in and stop the aggression.

OK, so what are the cops supposed to do when the felon has a knife or a gun or is six foot five and weighs 290 pounds?! If I'm a cop, listen to me, I'm going home. I'm not going to get myself put into the intensive care unit. I'm not going to the morgue. To protect myself, I'm going to open fire on that armed felon. If an armed felon is running from me, then I figure that they are an enormous risk to innocent people and will put a couple of rounds in their back.

Who is it that commit the violent felonies? Who have the standing warrants out against them? The answer is over 50% minorities -- who compose less than 15% of the population. Here's the most important part of it all: Their own people are afraid of them.

Why are Black people buying so many guns now? Are they afraid that the women's Junior Monday Club is going to attack, or that the Rotarians are getting ready to go full-tilt violent? No. They are afraid of their own. What group commits the most violent crimes, to include murder, against Black people? Yes, it is other Black people.

Civilized people in America are getting beyond sick and tired of hearing the lies of the Left. We are angry when the MSM calls looting and arson "peaceful protests". We are getting tired of hearing the blame put on cops for doing their jobs.

Y'know what, I'd like to see cops quit in droves. I'd like to see the urban areas of America burn themselves down into embers and ashes. Let the cities die! If the savages -- White, Black, whatever color -- come our way, we know how to take care of that situation. As to the anti-Christ Antifa crews, I think maybe you get brownie points for sending them to hell.

Ystranc, How many years have you worked law enforcement? Trusting the video released on the internet as the whole truth...that's like trusting politicians. Because you didn't see her read her rights or receiving medical treatment, doesn't mean it didn't happen.

Yes, I am saying she broke her own arm. I've seen it done by people with mental illnesses and by people without any mental illnesses. Watched one young woman break 3 bones in her hand on purpose, trying to get out of handcuffs. Then claimed the officer did it to her. She was in the back seat and he was driving at the time.

She kept trying to run away and was kicking. Leg restraints are standard practice.

I don't know how things are done in the UK these days, but here in the US, if you break the law and are caught. You will be arrested. Arrested and prosecuted are different. Are officers (Bobby's) expected to let themselves be injured if preventable in the UK?

    Dale

There are some bad officers working. They are a small percentage of that work force but that doesn't seem to matter any more. The socialist in this country (Democrats, ANTIFA, BLM, etc.) want to topple the government to crate there socialist utopia. They play on peoples emotions. Emotions are a terrible for making educated decisions.

One positive trend in Amerika is that police officers in cities are quitting and moving to America.

    https://www.foxnews.com/us/louisville-police-staffing-dire-straits-high-crime-rates-recruitment-woes

"Nearly 190 cops left the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD) in 2020 and 43 have stepped away from the Kentucky city’s agency so far in 2021, either choosing to retire or resign altogether, as law enforcement officials struggle to recruit new members to make up for a deficit in manpower, authorities and a union spokesperson told Fox News on Tuesday.

"Statistics provided by LMPD on Tuesday show the department has hired 26 new members so far this year, while 43 have left. The 1,069-person department falls 255 people short of its 'authorized strength' of 1,324 -- the number of personnel it is authorized to employ, statistics show.

"Meanwhile, LMPD hired 104 new members in 2020 but lost 188 to retirement or resignations, according to data. By the end of last year, LMPD employed 1,163 police personnel, instead of its 1,324-person 'authorized strength.'"
    -------------------------

    https://www.foxnews.com/media/spike-police-departures-cops-vilified-racists-nypd-veteran

"More than 5,300 NYPD uniformed officers retired or put in their papers to leave in 2020 — a 75 percent spike from the year before, department data show. The exodus — amid the pandemic, anti-cop hostility, riots and a skyrocketing number of NYC shootings — saw 2,600 officers say goodbye to the job and another 2,746 file for retirement, a combined 5,346.
    -----------------------------------------------------

    More cities:

    https://pjmedia.com/news-and-politi...stin-police-officers-leave-the-force-n1437738

    -------------------------------------------------

Doesn't sound bad to me. I hope the cities lose hundreds more, thousands more police. Just say "amen to mayhem!"

I think the cop did what was needed BUT He should have been trained better to recognize an apparent mental / communication disorder. When he stopped her and she repeated "I am going Home" a simple question of "Were is home", when she could not answer but kept repeat "I m going home" that is a pretty good indicator there is a mental problem or a communication problem. She was not a fleeing felon or a obvious threat to others. There was time to continue to attempt a dialog and find out more info. Note: I do support the police and I don't think this cop over reacted. He just needed to take a few more minutes to evaluate the situation.

My son graduated for the Police Academy and then decided not to pursue a law enforcement career. What he saw and experienced during his training, showed him the direction law enforcement was headed. While I certainly supported his choice to go to the police academy, it was one of the happiest days of my life when he informed my he had decided to take a pass on entering any form of law enforcement. The thought of possibly out living him was not a pleasant thought.

He made a wise choice. I took medical retirement in 2007 and there is not enough money on the planet to get me to go back now. Things were bad enough then and since then all of my coworkers have quit or retired. Something about promising the spouse that they would come home at end of shift.

Back home now, spent a day and night with my brother and his fantastic family, first time in over a year, I'd forgotten how quick kids grow :) We watched the video and were appalled by it. I don't think you can put this incident down to just to poor training, its down to poor character and judgement on the officers part, bottom line is they were unprofessional.

Cops these days are in a no win situation. The bad apples in their midst have made them look so bad that even when they are 100% justified in their use of lethal force they are likely to be put under scrutiny and possibly even prosecuted. This is what you get when you allow the masses and the liberal media to dictate things. When I was a kid even running from a cop could get you shot. There was one older fat cop that was famous for that and saying "I don't have to chase the bas###rds my bullets run for me." Now if a cop defends himself from attack or even uses lethal force to save the life of a victum he may end up ruined and possibly in prison.

In some ways they have done this because we the citizens are too cheap to pay for better training and staffing. When I was young cops always were in pairs. That offered you two things. It provided instant backup and also two cops were less likely to be forced to use lethal force bacause they were unable to handle someone by themselves. Two on one, no matter what the movies show will win almost every time if they are properly trained.

We need to reintroduce the police back into the comunity. No cop shpuld be "on the streets" dealing with only the trash of society for years on end. They and we would be better served if they spent at least 25% of their time each year doing things like working at schools or even walking a beat and getting to know the people in an area. This would cost more but would make it so that the cops included good people into their US instead of throwing everyone without a badge into the THEM pile.

I live in a small town and it just isn’t the sort of place that a cop that wants some ACTION is going to stay for long. They are in general a very laid ack group and amazingly friendly to someone raised in a much bigger city where cops were MUCH less friendly. We have a few Barney Fife types but they don’t last long. Most relax and become people after a little while. This is probably in part because this is Texas. Main prison areas and there are about a half dozen big prisons here with thousands of inmates and hundreds of correctional officers. The prisons and the University are the two main industries here and people that work in those industries don’t tend to be stupid criminals. This also makes this area a bad place for criminals to make a go of things.

You know folks...I got to thinking and re thinking this ...because for most people it is a history not remembered or even known.

I will update this with what I Know of history going back to the administration of William Jefferson Clinton and continuing unto today.

In the Clinton years...many many professional people in the military could see the handwriting on the wall and put in their retirement papers and got out.

Same thing happened with the Obama Administration....many many professional military people put in their papers and got out.

While I have not heard yet about the Biden Administration ...I have little doubt that many are rethinking staying in.

What is it about leftist liberal administrations which cause such an "Exodus???"

And that is the correct name for it ...An Exodus.

And I mean not only of professional constabulary and military....but now...today...even of ordinary people getting out of big cities and going to states where there is not as much two legged wildife...both on the streets and in government.

Are any of you catching on yet????

Think bigger than the phony news media....

I remember these events and happenings in history past......do you!!???

I worked as a Federal Park Ranger for 10 years. Always on shift alone regardless of if it was a day shift or the graveyard shift (ended at 4 AM) and if I had backup it was usually a minimum of an hour away. So much can happen in an hour. Park Ranger work was not what I thought when I transferred over. Yes you had all of the resource management work (wildlife, fisheries, forest, etc.) but you had all of the law enforcement and regulatory enforcement added on. People don't better because the go to wild places. They usually get worse. Shootings, domestic violence, drug use, and on and on.

    Did I mention...I HATE PEOPLE!!!

Humans are the worst. It was almost a relief when I broke my neck and they told me I no longer was employed and to put in for medical retirement. I feel bad for the good guys still working law enforcement now. The liberals are using the 1 -2% of the bad officers for their political agenda. Who wants to bet on the percentage of bad politicians in DC?

Any idea of the age range of all these military types who resigned? How many had been in long enough to build a pension?

E-5's and above on NCO's and mostly O-4's and above for officers.
Under 20 years gets $0 for pension and many left for other careers when things became unacceptable. The Exodus ceased for a while (2016 -2020) but enlistments are down and separations are now up and growing.

I think that the big positive is that people are not even signing up for the police academies anymore, especially those that serve to replenish urban police departments.

The Left doesn't want there to be police anymore. Well, what do'ya' know, they are getting their wish. Oh and HOW! they are getting their wish!

Funny thing is BLM and Antifa need the police to protect them.

When the police REALLY get thin, the out-of-control communist radicals will invade the suburbs where the Democratic Socialist voters live. Good.

Without police, food from the Heartlands will not be getting into the cities. Boxcars bringing food into the cities will be attacked by gangs and hoards of the starving. Truckers have already been stopped and threatened by the goons. Heartlanders will just throw up their hands and say, "Forget that!" Good.

We Heartlanders grow our own food ... mountains of it. Plus, we do not need anyone to protect us from knuckle-draggers.

If the goons come out into the Heartland, deer hunters & ex-military will have plenty of practice and no bag-limits.

I remember back in the 1990s how at gun shows wooden crates full of surplus military ammunition was being hauled out to guys pickup trucks. God only knows how many military surplus rifles are spread across America ... even in the cities. Military folk, current and retired, keep surplus rifles. Many guys have multiple rifles and hundreds of rounds / thousands of rounds, of ammo put back. I've heard that the amount of ammunition in American homes is in the billions of rounds.

Same is true of Canada. For instance, tens of thousands of Americans have owned .303 Enfields -- I've owned over six. The reason being is that they come down out of Canada. Canada is awash in Enfields. My old rifles fire just fine (I've a couple of museum-grade/like-new Enfields). I've got .303 ammo from all across the planet; Britain, Australia, India, Greece, ... . So do tens of thousands of other men. And hey!, I'm just talking about the Enfields! Millions of Mausers are out there (I've had a few). FN FALs are popular; Belgian and Argentinian. On and on.

After Vietnam, current and ex-soldiers all had to have an AR-15 or an AK at home. Guys with military blood flowing through their veins feel naked without these proven tools nearby. In the Heartland, police and locals are not two separate groups -- total unity exists. As far as ammo goes, everybody has put back stacks for range-blasting. Gotta stay proficient. Gotta ensure the rifles continue to hold their sight-in. Current ammo shortages are due to panic-buying, this by new firearm-owning city folk.

Yep, Antifa and BLM need to venture out into the real America for a life lesson or two. And y'know what, they need not worry that no one will be there to greet them. There will be plenty of folk there to take care of them. National Guard folk will be there -- especially the ones who will have left their units to go home and defend their counties from any interlopers.

The US army exceeded its target figure of 485,383 in the 2020 fiscal year after failing to hit the target in 2018 FY. Looking around online it seems the army is cutting back on LPCs and like our army is recruiting specialists...not a good move IMHO.

To get back on thread, two of the cops accused of beating up the 6 stone 73 year old lady with dementia have been fired, are being prosecuted by the state prosecutor and are being sued for personal injuries, their former supervisor is being investigated with a view to bringing charges.
The Loveland city police chief is co-operating fully with the investigations and fully supports these former officer's prosecutions.
Personally I believe that they were unsuited to the role of police officers.

"Police Recruiting Plummets While Crime Surges In Major US Cities"

    https://dailycaller.com/2021/05/19/police-recruitment-down-crime-up/

"Some police departments are having a hard time recruiting potential officers as others gear up for what could be another summer of civil unrest.

"Demonstrations criticizing officer’s use of force and demanding general police reform last year hurt departments’ recruitment efforts leading to widespread strain, Axios reported Wednesday. Other departments in urban areas are preparing for what could be a summer of violent crime as COVID-19 restrictions ease, according to the Wall Street Journal.

“'The warmer months always usually give us more problems when it comes to violence,' NYPD Chief of Department Rodney Harrison said, the WSJ reported.

"In New York City, homicides were up 27% from this time last year while officials in Chicago and Dallas reported similar increases, the WSJ reported. Police departments in Dallas, Jersey City, New Jersey and Washington, D.C., plan on stationing more officers in high crime areas and holding community meetings to build relations.

"Police in Charlotte, N.C., said applications decreased 26% in the first months of 2021 while applications to the Des Moines, Iowa, police department were reportedly down 50% from last year, according to Axios. Over 100 officers left the Minneapolis Police Department after former offer Derek Chauvin knelt on George Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes, killing him.

“'Too many people have thrown the police under the bus. The police in Minnesota, many are very demoralized because of the lack of appreciation for the work that they do,' state Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka told Axios."

"Police officers nationwide are turning in their badges at record rates amid budget cuts, policy changes and anti-brutality protests.

"An estimated 5,300 officers quit or retired from the New York Police Department last year, 200 or more cops have left the Seattle force, and in the nation’s capital, the union reports that the 3,700-strong Metropolitan Police Department is down 300 badges since the D.C. Council enacted sweeping police reforms last summer.

“'Officers are leaving at an alarming rate, and crime is spiking in a lot of different areas,' police union chairman Gregg Pemberton told The Washington Times on Tuesday.

"In Baltimore, the department has lost nearly 300 officers since last year, leaving detectives 'overwhelmed with their caseload because they, too, are short-staffed,' said the leader of the local Fraternal Order of Police.

“'This has a direct effect on the crime fight because there is barely enough time to answer the 911 calls, let alone look for violent offenders,' Mike Mancuso said.

"As calls to defund police have grown louder, some local lawmakers have responded with dramatic cuts to police budgets.

"In at least nine cities that made large cuts to police funding last year, homicides rose by nearly 68%, according to data analysis by The Times. Even cities like the District, which made relatively smaller, symbolic, cuts to police budgets, recorded significant increases in violent crime."

"Violent Crime Surged In These Cities After Mass Black Lives Matter, Anti-Police Protests"

    https://dailycaller.com/2021/05/06/...lice-accountability-minneapolis-george-floyd/

    > "Violent crime surged in several U.S. cities that saw massive Black Live Matter and anti-police protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death last summer.
    > "'We are definitely at a critical manpower shortage here,' Louisville police union spokesperson Dave Mutchler told the Daily Caller News Foundation last week. 'The climate that we all find ourselves in right now is a lot more demanding and stressful on officers.'
    > "Protests, in which demonstrators alleged widespread police brutality, occurred in about 1,700 different U.S. municipalities and cities within the span of just a few weeks in June 2020, USA Today reported.

"Violent crime surged in several U.S. cities that saw massive Black Live Matter and anti-police protests in the wake of George Floyd’s death last summer.

"The upswing of violent crime, including homicides, coincided with the protests, increased anti-police sentiment among Americans and declining morale in police departments, which have since struggled to recruit new officers. The number of murders alone increased by 36.7% in 2020 compared to 2019, according to public information compiled by data analytics reporter Jeff Asher."

    "Minneapolis, Minnesota

"Violent crime increased 17% in low-income communities and 30% in high-income neighborhoods in Minneapolis, the site of some of the earliest and most violent protests last year, the Star Tribune reported in September. Some neighborhoods experienced as much as 36% more violent crime.

"Homicides, assaults, shootings and robberies all ticked up, according to the Star Tribune. Overall, murder in the city increased 72.3% in 2020 compared to 2019, according to Asher.

    "NY, NY

"Between May and August, the New York Police Department reported 791 shootings, or 140% more than the same period in 2019, and 180 murders, a 51% increase compared to 2019, the NYT reported. By August and with four months remaining in the year, the city had already surpassed the number of shootings that occurred every year since 2015.

"Murder increased by 39.2% in 2020 compared to 2019 overall, according to Asher’s database.

    "Chicago, Illinois

"Chicago reported more than 500 homicides between January 2020 and August 2020, according to WTTW-TV. The number represented a sharp increase compared to 2019, which saw 495 murders through the entire year.

“'This has been an unprecedented year in policing, as coronavirus, civil unrest and violence have all converged in Chicago and in cities throughout the country,' Chicago Police Superintendent David Brown said, WTTW reported.

"In the first eight months of 2020, shootings increased 52%, the number of shooting victims increased 56% and total homicides increased 49% compared to the same period in 2019, WTTW reported. Chicago concluded 2020 with a 55% total murder increase compared to 2019, according to Asher’s database."

    "Atlanta, Georgia

"Last year was Atlanta’s deadliest year in more than two decades, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The city reported 150 murders in 2020, a whopping 58% increase compared to 2019.

“'It’s ridiculous that now, even during this pandemic, we got more gun violence going on than ever before,' local activist Columbus Ward told the AJC. (RELATED: ‘Abolish ICE!’: Protesters Crash Biden’s Georgia Rally)

"Atlanta experienced multiple protests throughout the summer last year, many of which led to mass violence, according to U.S. News and World Report. In some cases, protests left burned police cars and looted businesses in their wake.

"Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms characterized one May 2020 protest as 'chaos.' During the demonstration, people were seen looting and setting fires as they called for police reform."

But y'know what, some people who hate the police, actually go hysterical and call cops murderers and NAZIs and on and on. It is utter and total irrationality!

More and more, I see irrational thought being reported along with actual facts as if they were equal in the realm of being worthy of being listening to.

Routinely, we see screamers in the news and no one stands up and says, "I'm sorry to interrupt, but that person is not only base-ignorant, that person is engaging in hysterical ranting. Could somebody please find their medication, plus get them a glass of water to take it."

The media is particularly willing to say nothing when it is a minority person saying something from outer-space. I guess the MSM is trying not to offend. I find it offensive when people compare police behaviors to the atrocities of NAZI Germany. It degrades the suffering of the Jewish people to make such flippant / downright-stupid comparisons.

i've actually worked around and with the mentally ill for decades now(as an aid), not everyone can tell when someone is wacky woohoo nor can they tell when someone is gonna go bonkers...if you've ever watched a sovcit video or an inner city black get stopped they repeat themselves DOZENS of times during a stop...its hard to tell if they are just being stupid or have a real mental health issue...

Unless people have worked around the mentally ill / mentally challenged, they just do NOT have a clue. I bet you hate the movies and the TV shows as much as do I when it comes to the portrayal of these people with psych issues. I would to God wish that people were required to work with EMS just three days; to work a psych ward for just three days; to ride with the police for just three days. I say three days, because I do not think for one damned moment, they'd last a full week.

It is easy for some Monday-morning quarterback to second-guess the actions of a police officer put into a situation involving split-second decisions (literally a less than one second decision).

Me, I'll avoid judging them until I get all of the facts. Even then, I wasn't there, was I! So maybe I'll just thank God I do not have their job. When it comes to my taxes going towards raises for cops, I'll vote them higher pay -- I'll belly up to the bar and do my taxpayer part.

Here's an Old Geezer story. Many may want to stop reading right about now.

One of my undergrad majors was Psych. We literally measured people's time to respond ... and I do mean down to the danged millisecond. We found that when a decision involved emotion, the brain slowed down. When the decision was associated with a very negative emotion, the brain REALLY slowed down before making "the call".

So boys and girls reading this evening, be VERY careful in judging your fellow human beings -- and cops are one of us, dang-it -- when it comes to making hellish decisions when they have NO TIME to reason-out the situation!

Patients not only wander off, but actively evade staff and get out of the ward one way or another. Sh## happens. If it is a home situation, do not fault the family for not keeping "a close eye on grandma". People get all guilty about putting a relative in a nursing facility. Family think that they should be saints. Well, "there comes a time". Patients with dementia require a whole lot of care -- how else can this be put?! It is a horrible situation all 'round. Sad, sad, sad. Never hold family in judgement when a parent or grandparent suffering from mental illness slips away and out into the night. It happens, it just does.

I'm writing this tired enough to hallucinate, myself. Electrolyte drink and tequila keeping body and soul together. Bear with me. I'm getting old myself.

I had a relative die at age 90. It took all of the strength I had to hold him down in bed. He could have punched me hard enough to have given me a subdural hematoma -- stout as an ox and meaner than a snake ... at the moment. Never let a person's age fool you into being complacent when it comes to their care or when it comes to getting out of their way when they go bat-shit crazy. My dad had to hold down his dad when he died ... out of his mind. Wasn't Alzheimer's, but CNS multi-infarct dementia. Ends up in senile dementia irrespective of proximal cause. Many have gotten stitches when trying to subdue a "weak, dying patient".

A human ain't dead until they are dead. One should keep that in mind.

This world can be a place beyond hideous. There are gardens and swamps. Roses have thorns. And the music of the heavens in their perpetual clockwork rotations is oft times played in minor key, even dissonant at times. Pay too close attention and you yourself will go mad.

The cop that beat up a six stone elderly lady and laughed about it was convicted and jailed for five years with a minimum of three years parol after a plea bargain reduced his potential term of imprisonment at the beginning of May, he will never be allowed to work in law enforcement ever again. His supervising sergeant who failed in his duty of care to Ms Garner resigned before an internal investigation could be completed.

They were exactly the kind of police officers that no one needs around.

Police in the former USA often grow up without ever having touched a firearm. Their training is insufficient. Very many are trigger happy -- especially in cities. Follow their orders. Do not assume that they are rational when speaking with them.

Disobey and you stand to be instantly shot dead.

"Remember when this happened and nobody rioted?"

    https://www.revolver.news/2022/08/remember-when-this-happened-and-nobody-rioted/

"The cops showed up after someone saw Daniel Shaver with an air rifle he used in his exterminator job. He ended up dead, and nobody paid for it, unless you count the $2500 a month that the taxpayers of Mesa gave Brailsford for his retirement at 29."
