"There have been nearly 1,400 carjacking victims this year in Cook County."

"CHICAGO (AP) — The Illinois county that includes Chicago is on pace to see more carjackings this year than it has in two decades, according to a published report.

"Through September’s end there were nearly 44% more carjackings in Cook County this year than in the same time period last year when the number was also high, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

"There have been nearly 1,400 carjacking victims this year in Cook County. Most carjackings have taken place on Chicago’s West Side. To address the issue, Chicago police have expanded a carjackings task force that includes the Cook County authorities, the Illinois State Police and the FBI."

    Chicago's downtown is closing down.

    Quotes in color Blue:

hicago’s most recent shoplifting spree involved a group of men who robbed three 7-Eleven convenience stores downtown in a span of 30 minutes on Monday morning.

Four armed men robbed a 7-Eleven on East Lake Street at 8.29am, in which they took an undetermined amount of cash before fleeing in a black vehicle, police said. Five minutes later, police believe the same group wearing masks and hooded sweatshirts, robbed another 7-Eleven and, just before 9am, they made a final stop at a third 7-Eleven and robbed it at gunpoint.

No arrests have been made as of Wednesday afternoon.

‘It’s a serious problem, and we have to address it,’ Alderman Brian Hopkins told CBS Chicago, explaining that the issue affects commercial real estate as well as public safety.

‘The commercial brokers tell us that when they get potential interest from a tenant, that’s one of the first questions they ask, is what’s happening in Chicago to stem the tide of retail shoplifting rings that have been operating with impunity downtown? And we don’t have a good answer right now for that.’

Hopkins added, ‘I think we have to look at prosecution. Clearly there’s a feeling running through the criminal elements that there are no consequences here. We have to look to the courts, and I think we have to just look to all the players in this drama to get Chicago to what it once was.’

The city’s approach to prosecuting retail crime is similar to one in San Francisco, where prosecutors only issue felony charges for thefts of property worth over $950. Walgreens cited the shoplifting issue as the reason it closed 17 stores and is planning to close another five throughout the city, the pharmacy chain announced last week.

Stores throughout Chicago’s Magnificent Mile are doing the same as Macy’s closed its 170,000-square-foot flagship store in Water Tower Place last spring, Japanese retailer Uniqlo closed its 60,000-square-foot store in August and the Disney Store closed its 7,000-square-foot location on Michigan Avenue last month.

I guess that I am a little paranoid. When I go to Houston and get off the freeways and onto the surface streets I usually tuck a knife under my thigh on my left side. I also always have a handgun when I go to Houston. Where I live there isn't much to worry about. A dozen prisons and the people that staff them make this a bad area for criminals.

That aside I think that most criminals avoid people like me. If you have no fear and really don't care if they want to dance you sort of make yourself a poor choice. The last time someone threatened me with a knife I laughed my ass off at them. They asked what I thought was so funny and I told them how funny I thought it was going to be when they had to go to a hospital to have that little knife dug out of their ass. They left.

I know at some level that this isn't smart but I actually fear being afraid more than I fear ANYTHING. Fear is the mind killer. Fear will make you weak and do stupid things. If I expressed fear as a child it usually didn't go over well at all and I was then made to do what I feared. I learned early that life is a bitch and then you die.

With me, it was Memphis. Had in-laws there, once upon a time (dead now). In the civilized parts of Memphis, you can hear the gunfire in town. Carried a chopped 9 loaded with hot heavy flying ashtrays while anywhere within 25 miles of Graceland. The savages were given to leaking out into the "civilized" areas . Pretty bad when service stations have to have THICK bullet-resistant back drive-up glass. Pretty bad when civilized kids have to learn to duck'n'cover when standing at school bus stops. The thing about rural Texas is that y'all can defend yourselves. That one is NOT up for debate. Post-SHTF, there is a 100% chance that some people will attempt to move in on y'all. There is also a 100% chance that they'll get their @$$es shot off. I've got a brother'n'law living in rural Texas and him and his kids & grandkids are armed to the teeth ... just like everybody else. You got your rattlesnakes, your 4-legged hairy varmints, and your 2-legged featherless varmints.

You don't have to be in rural Texas to have the right to defend yourself with deadly force. THAT is the law here. A few years ago a pinko liberal District Attorney in Houston tried to ignore it. It didn't go and since we elect out district attorneys he was out of a job shortly there after.

Texas has a constitutional right to keep, possess and carry arms. Even more important if judges and politicians want to stay in office they don’t even try to do as the Federal liberals have done with the American constitution. It is like the one in the American constitution only there is no wiggling allowed. The right to keep and bear arms MEANS exactly that in Texas. ALL of TEXAS...

We need to wait until the legislature is in session and just build a wall around Austin and just start throwing our criminals over the wall. Politicians now days are just smart crooks. Nobody else can get the financing that it takes to run for office.

I think that politicians should be banned and outlawed. If our government was run by people that came from the working world and knew that after ONE term in office that they would have to return to that and not be a permanent leach on the American asshole we might get better representation. Politicians have become the American version of royalty and have almost no connection to regular people.

Mary Gay Scanlon is a far-Left Social Democrat. She consistently votes for more gun control.

Mary Gay Scanlon and other Leftists want to create a national database to track police misconduct.

Mary Gay Scanlon just got robbed and carjacked.

"The incident comes at the tail end of a violent year in Philadelphia, which saw a spike in both gunpoint robberies and auto thefts.

"As of mid-December, the city had recorded more than 2,400 gunpoint robberies. That’s up 27% over the same time last year, according to an Inquirer analysis of police data."

Note to potential visitors to America:

Stay out of the cities. The cities are no longer safe, here. One block could be the very pinnacle of civilization, yet only two blocks away, you could be in the middle of a war zone. There used to be maps of safe and unsafe areas of cities and towns; many still exist -- find one for a city you are forced to visit by your employer. However, these maps are now being banned/cancelled due to perceived racial discrimination. Minority neighborhoods are dangerous places to live in or visit, even for minority individuals. There are no "mean redneck" maps that I know of. The South is a mostly civilized region, however some very rural counties are places about which you should inquire before traveling there. In my home state, there are some backwoods areas that I avoided and would today avoid.

We need to return to public hangings and apply it to ALL violemt felony crimes or crimes committed with a firearm. We have got such that violent criminals have more "rights" than an honest citizen. If you rob someone with a gun as a threat I assume that you will kill someone. Why wait until they do. Hang them high for even threatening someone with a gun in connection with a robbery!!!

I live surrounded by prisons and nearly everyone that I know and all of my family except me work for, with or are retired from woring in prisons. the thing that gets rubbed in your nose is the inc readable amount of misery that these THOUSANDS and thousands of criminals have caused in the past and will again cause in the future.

You don't land in a prison the first time that you break the law unless you kill someone or rob a bank. Most of these people are many times repeat offenders that just are not going to work and live a normal life. They want something that you have so in their minds you somehow owe it to them and are in some ways the cause of their dissatisfaction with their place in life.

Why is their right to freedom without having to work and EARN the things that they want more important than other people’s right to live in peace and have the things that they worked for??? I don’t believe in the death penalty. I don’t trust our system enough to allow them that right. BUT if that is the only way to end a criminals lifelong crime spree I guess I could live with it.

It makes me sick when I read of someone that is being tried for murder that was out of prison and paroled off a life sentence. That jury gave them a LIFE sentence because they felt that that person was not someone that was going to change their ways. life should not be something that you can serve in a few years!!!

Liberal blame the guns for the crimes. I KNOW how to lessen the criminal use of guns. Make any felony crime where a gun was used, even as a threat, a life with out parole penalty. That means that the only way they leave the prison system is in a coffin!!!

I'm not sure that the pendulum is going to swing back Old Geezer. We have allowed the liberals to take over the education of our children. My Granddaughter goes to a private school and it is amazing the difference between their curiculum and what is offered in the public schools. The problem is that when she has grown up she will be in a minority of people raised to reflect the beliefs that you and I considder to be the normal and right way of looking at things.

there are only 2 prisons in my county and some considerable distance from my location.
Dartmoor Prison at Princetown is a category C resettlement prison housing less violent offenders and is due to close in a couple of years, I have been inside this prison as a visitor. Exeter Prison is a category B training prison, an all male prison, a friend of mine spent a few weeks in Exeter prison for non payment of maintenance some years ago.
Category A prisons are maximum security prisons, of which there are 8, 5 are in England the rest are in Wales and Scotland, for the most violent offenders and are all located further away up country.

    https://nypost.com/2022/01/09/teen-gunned-down-while-working-shift-at-nyc-burger-king-cops/

"A teen who had just started working at a Manhattan Burger King — and already wanted off the late shift because she was so scared — was fatally shot in the stomach over $100 early Sunday, cops and kin said.

"The armed robber entered the restaurant at 116th Street and Lexington Avenue in East Harlem around 1 a.m. and pistol-whipped a male customer before punching a female manager in the face, police said.

"Bayron-Nieves’ family said she had only been working at the fast-food eatery for three weeks and had already asked for better security and change to a day shift because she feared for her safety.

"The victim wanted the changes 'because she is only 19, and she has more than 50 homeless people sleeping in front of the store,' her mother, Kristie Nieves, 36, said in Spanish through a translator, friend Nathalie Pagan.

"Pagan said Bayron-Nieves mistook the thief for a delivery man — before he slugged the restaurant manager and her young admirer, knocking him out.

“'So [the admirer] says that the guy turns around and he comes back and shot her,' Pagan said. “That he turn around like he is going to leave, but he comes back and shoots her.

“'She’d done everything that he say,” she said. “She give him the money and everything. That she didn’t even do nothing wrong.'”

I do not think females should be employed on the late shift of any establishment open to the public, takeaways and garages for instance, certainly not at 1 am, its not right and its certainly not safe for them.
I do know of a case where some under age youths threatened a teenage female employee of an off licence because she would not sell them liquor, they said they would get her when she left work after her shift if she didnt, I think the boss walked all female staff home after this.
I know the boss of the fish and chip shop did this too so its not a one off.

Using a car as a weapon:

"Driver rams car through KFC restaurant before backing into house, assaulting homeowner's wife, and entering residence — so homeowner shoots him dead"

    https://www.theblaze.com/news/drive...tering-residence-so-homeowner-shoots-him-dead

"The homeowner whose residence the suspect backed into ventured outside to see what was going on just before 5 a.m. and discovered the motorist banging on a neighbor's windows, the agency said.

"With that, the suspect went up on the homeowner’s porch, assaulted the homeowner's wife, and then went inside the residence, OSBI reported.

"But the homeowner had already exercised his Second Amendment rights and had a gun at the ready — which he used to shoot the intruder inside the home, the agency said."

O.Gzr's take: Shame is that the dead thing had probably already reproduced.

"The suspect reportedly hit the gas after police ordered him out of the vehicle.

“'He started hitting my car, going the wrong way into me. It’s scary … my car got hit,' a nearby victim said.

"The second incident took place about 45 minutes later. A black Infiniti was stolen by a suspect with a box cutter.

"And of course, both suspects still remain on the loose.

"We're sure DA Bragg is already drafting excuses for the suspects and how they're victims of a repressive system that has forced them into a life of crime. We can't wait for that press conference..."

    by lonewolf,

Equality means equal risk...not more breastfeeding...on the public breast...while demanding and expecting equality.

Your talking about the "Appearance" of equality.

How many women out here want love...or will they settle for the "Appearance " of love??

What you are describing here is more male expendability and disposability...and that also is not equality.

    This too is Ishmaelite....bondage...

Two of the women I know around here carry .357 Magnums and know how to use them.

More and more women around here are today carrying concealed...and I am glad for them.

Many many years ago down in Louisiana.. carjackings suddenly got popular...and they passed a law that one could kill a carjacker....

Carjacking was considered like stealing someone's horse in the olde days.
Stealing someone's horse was the same as a death sentence ...by leaving someone afoot in a dangerous environment. So horse thievery warranted a death sentence...and often quickly expedited.

Sad to say....but I think we need to go back to that working philosophy.

Thinking the same about breaking into trains...and stealing/looting the shipments.

    Again....Ishmaelites run wild.

I was brought up to look after females and not to put them at risk, but then I am kind of old fashioned and my attitudes probably belong in another time and place.
its a shame that equality means putting people at risk.

I too like to look after females...but I am also very well aware of the "Appearance" of equality...versus real equality.

Equality means equal risk...not always getting the choicest morsels off the Buffet line after someone else sets up the table...and then cleans up after others.

Highly recommend Amaury De Reincourt's "Sex and Power in History" and the chapter titled "The Communist Reality."

Therein what happened to women in Socialism/Communism in equality.

Remember....many Feel Good types in the West today are promoting socialism/Communist Authoritarianism ..ie...equality for all.

But in Appearances in the West...this is called Equity....keep that in mind!!!

    The Appearance of Equality.....ie....Equity...

What is needed is the transformation of gang membership into toe tags.

These "people" are enemy warriors on public turf. They have no right to exist.

I am all for the 3 strike law. On the third criminal (felony) conviction, mandatory death sentence. That would certainly slow down repeat offenders.

I am fortunate to have decided to live in a place that has almost no gang activity and that criminals tend to avoid. I live in a place that has 7 prisons and that is the main employer here. Criminals see this place as just covered up with cops of one kind or another. Correction officers may not always be the nicest people in the world but very few of them tend towards criminal tendencies. It is hard for a kid raised here to think that they could never get caught. Another problem with criminals here is that the juries here are almost heartless and will hit you with LONG sentences. We know how much time they will actually serve before they get possibly paroled.

The sad thing about prisons is that for a lot of these men the prison is about the best home that they have ever had. A warm bed, three meals a day, medical and dental care, and if they wish a chance to get an education or job training. That doesn’t mean that they are necessarily happy to be there but you would think that if they really hated it they wouldn’t return over and over.

I know how widly people differ in the many different places just in the US so I imagine that the difference in how people see things in another country are a totally different level. I remember when during the last major resession what happened when the yanks came south into Texas to work in the oil and chemical industries. For a lot of them it was a just awful adjustment and some just couldn't stay here. LOL, evedently those from the huge mega cities in the Northeast spend a lot of time arguing and yelling at eachother. If you get in my face yelling and screeming at me and poking at me with your finger you will wake up on the floor. I'm 70 and STILL will not put up with that.

I think that when you live someplace where it is totally legal to have a handgun in your pants and a shotgun in your truck you think a little more before getting assinine. The funny thing is that with all these guns you seldom hear of someone that is not a criminal getting shot or shooting someone. Possession of a firearm by a convicted felon is a felony. Anyone else of adult age may be armed legally. Even before they opened it up totally my wife and I were legally liscensed to carry.

    So totally true.

Certain varieties of speech in the South can get you put in the hospital.

People here claim to believe in the New Testament; however, rest assured that the locals are far more likely to go Old Testament on you. "Forgive and forget," no, no, no, no, no!

Act arrogant in any way, shape, form, or fashion down here and you'll be put to the test. Smart-off at somebody and you may not just walk away from it. There is ZERO tolerance for that crap. Lead poisoning is a common pathology here and one can get massively disappeared in these here parts. I had an uncle who participated in some disappearances. If anyone doubts this, then travel to the American South, go to a bar somewhere out in a rural county, and simply imply that the locals are stupid. Oh, I forgot, make sure you are right with the Lord God Almighty before beginning this adventure.

My dad was a professional gambler and taught me to NEVER bluff. That's one of the reasons I'm still alive. It feels very, very good to injure a person with a big ego and I am not alone in this -- especially around here. It's like the glee a child feels on Christmas day to put a arrogant man on the ground so that he can't get back up.

Turbo-violent felonies such as the following are why American civilians are having to protect their own selves. Police are not there to protect you. As police department ranks dwindle down past minimum levels, the thievery and violence gets worse and worse. And the violence is not in any reaction to the aggressor having been provoked by the victim. These innocent murder victims were simply going about their own business when put-upon. These incidents also expose the existing irrationality in aggressor populations. These are not "give me your money" armed robberies. These are deeply sick behavioral patterns. Attacks are against women, children, and the elderly -- all who are unable to fight back. This sort of subhuman crap is not unlike witnessing a "person" stomping kittens to death.

We as preppers often imagine that in SHTF events we will have to defend ourselves from those who are wanting to steal our supplies because they themselves were too stupid to do so. OK, that's true; however, we must also take into account the subhuman "savage factor" that is out there. We are not in the movies anymore, ladies and gentlemen. This isn't good guy vs. bad guy. This is good guy vs. monster.

"ORLANDO - A Florida couple is facing first-degree murder charges after police said they shot and killed a 78-year-old man at an Orlando CVS parking lot — then ran him over twice with his own car.

"Javonne Marece White, 19, and Jasmine Yvonne Munro, 25, are accused of shooting Uken Cummings during the brutal carjacking on Sunday.

"Cummings was leaving the store with his prescriptions. Police say he was returning to his car when he was confronted by two suspects who shot him and took the keys to his vehicle.

"While he lay on the ground, they allegedly backed the car over him and then ran him over again while taking off from the scene in his Mercedes.

    Speaking of inhumanity ...

Nutcases can take MULTIPLE rounds before going down. Ask anybody who has worked hospital psych wards. These folk can go supernatural in a very bad sort of way. People who've lost their humanity will break their own bones fighting and have ZERO reaction to what should be horribly painful injuries.

Warning; profoundly foul language is heard constantly in the following video, plus there is a graphic shooting (spoiler -- the nutcase aggressor is the person NOT walking away from this unhappy encounter):

    https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/v...deputy-soaks-up-12-rounds-before-hes-stopped/

"A crazed man’s rampage came to a not-so-sudden end Saturday morning in Montgomery County Maryland, and a bystander caught it all on video. After striking a lone deputy twice with a long stick, the attacker took a dozen rounds while still advancing on the officer.

"It looked like the stuff of nightmares. The attacker looked more like a college professor with his sport coat and khaki pants than a would-be cop-killing lunatic. The wicked grin on his face added a freaky, horror-film feel as the man just kept advancing on the retreating deputy. That was after he broke a long piece of wood with a couple of blows over the deputy’s forearm."

Wow Tex....you got me to remembering something from years ago...

I was going to a department store here in Tidewater, Virginia to get some items and exited my truck. Another person was backing their car out of a parking space and apparently not moving sufficiently fast for the fellow waiting for that space.

The fellow waiting ...began laying on the horn.....thus notifying the fellow backing out to hurry up for them.

I was astonished to see/hear that as most people around here do not so do in their impatience. I observed for a second before seeing the license plate....New Jersey. Apparently, that is normal and impatient conduct up north.

    Well I am not impressed.

There are people around here who would back right into you and then drive away for such rudeness....not to mention that many around here are armed.....particularly shotgun. Or even repark and turn off their engines...and let one stew.

Don't ever try to tell me that up north they are civilized...or well mannered... I am not impressed.

More like two legged wildlife to me.

There is likely a stack of reasons behind this level of disrespect of & imposition on other people these Yankees exhibit. However, I'd like to voice one postulate I have. I believe that there being no consequences for acting like a bully, rewards this form of aggression. Business trips have of course taken me up into Yankeedom and the disrespect these folk show each other is astounding.

Once was in Boston area on business (25-ish years ago this was). While there my buddy and I traveled to Providence, Rhode Island and spent an evening shooting pool in a bar in Foxborough, Mass.

Boston was populated with dead-soul zombies. I asked directions of a fellow. He said nothing. My buddy later told me that the Bostonian had flipped me the bird behind my back. Two nice black ladies hesitated, but then later (still on the subway) gave us directions to where it was we were go. They acted as if they were afraid to say anything . Jeez Louise!

Providence, RI was super nice and I felt like I was in America. We bar-hopped there in the Mafia-owned places. Everything was orderly and we felt perfectly safe. Neither of us had guns on us, but we did of course have our flick-open lock-blade knives just in case. Weaponry however was totally unneeded in this old-guard-Mafia-controlled turf. We were out walking late night yet stayed in condition green/yellow -- zero problems, had a great time.

The town of Foxborough (tiny town back then) was totally Ma & Pa America. Speaking of Ma and Pa, the bar / pool-hall at which we spent an evening was family owned. The place was clean and the people were nice.

So, I'm left with this impression: While there is still Heartland America to be found up North, the urban areas are spiritual cancer central. By far, up North, the vast majority of people live in these urban cesspits. You meet someone from up North, what's the odds that they are from an urban area? Very high. That arrogant Yankee poor-excuse for a human was raised and likely still living in a satanic city up there.

As a side note, the Russian Mafia night spots in Toronto Canada are safe-ish, however they are strange. You can feel your soul being tugged down into Hell. The Russian and East European women working in those places are all slaves owned by the Russian mob. The mob drugs and degrading treatment of these women turns them into zombie robots. It's WAY past sick.

My Dad made a comment one time that to some extent WW2 was a good thing for the US. People tend to become more and more over time totally associated with the place that they live and see people in other places more and more as untrustworthy alien folks. He commented that when you were in a foxhole with someone fighting for your life those other guys are closer to you than family.

A cousin that was sitting there nodded and then added the they either get that way or they never come out of that foxhole alive. He commented that guys that remembered in the middle of a firefight that they didn't volunteer for this crap and tried to bug out ended up dead. It seems that the Vietcong had much better aim when shooting someone in the back than when shooting at someone facing them. Another cousin nodded and added that they always seemed to be armed with M-16s shooting 5.56 rounds when that happened.

War is an amazing tool for weeding out the weak, cowardly and stupid.

I am forever thankfull that I was just the right age to have avoided getting involved in that mess. NEVER should we fight a war that we are careful NOT to win. Either go in to win or don't fight it at ALL. My cousins that are just a few years older got sent.

Most came home but none came back unchanged. It was a crappy war fighting for people that wouldn't fight for themselves and then you came home to ass-hats that wanted to spit on you for serving your country. It was hard for a lot of them to put the horrors of war behind them and it didn't help matters a bit the reception that they received at home.

In addition to carjackings, another crime modus operandi is growing in popularity with the criminal element. Follow-home robberies are up.

    https://leoaffairs.com/lapd-searching-for-follow-home-robbery-suspects/

For us preppers, this is yet another confirmation of why we nee to already have that which we need well before things get bad. We WILL be watched. Bad enough that Big Brother already tracks us.

As far as Big Brother goes, when it hits the fan, monies available to government will dry-up -- taxes will not be coming in ("can't get blood out of a turnip"), plus fiat currencies will be toilet paper. Law enforcement and military personnel will be attending to their own families and will have little loyalty to bankrupt/oppressor government. However, desperate people post-SHTF will be lurking everywhere, so going out to trade or forage will be observed by somebody you do not want to be "in your business". Defending one's own turf will be trouble enough.

And there WILL be survivors among the unprepared and guess who they will be. Yes, successful predators. Hyenas, wolves, and buzzards have nothing on skilled human predators. They will be armed and by the time they get to rural areas, they will have killed dozens of people during their raids, and they will be emboldened. Most decent people do not understand the psychology of sociopaths. That's good, but that's also a very dangerous state in which to exist. I've met them, seen what they are capable of, but am unable to convey that which I have seen to other people. We humans don't "mind-mesh".

For those who do not have weak stomachs, I'm going to list a site that shows videos of murders. Really, don't go to this site if you are disturbed by beyond-graphic content. This is seriously messed-up stuff. But too, these are only videos. Actually being around the dying has an impact on you. Most folk default to nice. We can't do that post-SHTF. What hasn't happened, what "simply could never happen", will happen. Don't let it happen to you.

    https://www.inquirer.com/news/phila...carjacking-teenagers-chung-chin-20220216.html

"A 12-year-old boy is accused of murdering a 70-year-old man during a December carjacking involving several young people in Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported Wednesday.

"A 12-year-old boy has been charged with murder in connection with the December beating death of a 70-year-old man in Mayfair, an incident police believe was the deadly result of a carjacking by several young people.

"The boy is one of three defendants under the age of 19 who are facing murder charges in connection with the killing of Chung Yan Chin, who police said was gravely injured in a carjacking just after 7 p.m. on Dec. 2. Prosecutors say the youths approached the victim on the 3000 block of Teesdale Street and knocked him to the ground, then punched and kicked him in the face before stealing his vehicle.

"Chin was hospitalized in critical condition with facial fractures and a brain injury, according to court papers. He died of his injuries on Dec. 21. Efforts to reach his family Wednesday were unsuccessful.

"Police last month arrested John Nusslein, 18, of Northeast Philadelphia, in connection with the killing, and an arrest warrant has been issued for Qiyam Muhammad, 16, who remains at large."

I think that the survival rate in a TOTAL collapse situation will not be as suspected. In different places the situation will be vastly different. In places where people have bent down and been forced to depend on a telephone call for protection when they are attacked the criminals may rule the roost for a little while. In places like where I live, out un the country out of a tiny town a looong way from a big city, criminals are dealt with on a very personal level. Criminals tend to stay away from rural areas because of this. They MAY try a little burgling of house when nobody is home but they only try to rob occupied places if they have a serious death wish.

You would think, based on the liberal antigun lobby, that a place like Texas would have people being killed all the time. It just doesn't happen very often. I think that we have as many criminals as anywhere but ours are sneaky and don't do CONFRONTATION type crimes very often. Even Granny may be packing heat and WILL happily shoot you!!! I suspect that older people like me are more likely than younger people to carry a handgun. When I was young I was more than willing to have a go with you. I would happily spot you a knife and had no feafrof getting cut in a fight.

Using a knife effectivly is a SKILL that very few people understand. I carry a knife and have for most all of my life. You won’t see it until I’m close and ask you whether you want it in your gut or crotch. Not once have I ever had to carry out that threat. It seems that most people that commit crimes in person have a STRONG aversion to getting cut up. I’m WEIRD and the idea of gettting cut just doesn’t deter me much. Hell I’m not sure to the nearest hundred howmany stitches I’ve had. I worked in machine shops with lots of razor sharp metal and then have made knives and sharpened them for people. When a knife is really RAZOR sharp if it touches you and moves, you have been cut. The greatest thing EVER was when super glue came out!!!! Cut it glue it and forget it...

in a rural place where there are few Police Stations and even fewer Police Officers, justice will be handed out on a personal level. some years ago a burglar and his family moved into a town near here where I lived for awhile, this burglar was hung out of a top story window by his feet by a very large gentleman who was well known, told to leave the area and never come back, he left that day and has never been seen since.
in a total collapse more of this will occur, I think they call it "Summary Justice" or something similar.

I seem to recall a story in the news about a woman.....out Texas or Oklahoma way ...who was at one time....in the 1940s or 50s Miss America...but she lived on a small property in one of those states.

She found that someone was trying to steal her car..and pulled the revolver out of her apron and shot her own tire out and sent the would be low life packing down the road..!!

I verily liked that story. We need more salty Grandmas like her in this country.

more recently, pre covid I think, a burglar who had gained access to a house was shot by the female homeowner with a pistol crossbow, he was seen staggering off down the road with the crossbow bolt protruding from his belly, no Police action was taken as the burglar was never found. so we dont know what happened to him.

People in the small out of the way places sort of do things the old ways. That can be a little rough in some areas. When you live out in the country you have no police. Police are city cops. Out in the country you have a have dozen deputy sheriffs covering the entire country. In Texas some of those counties are nearly big enough to be a state. Fortunately those places have about fifty times more cattle and rabbits than people and crime is sort of hard to do when everyone knows everyone else and a stranger or low life is easy to spot.

I don't lock my doors. Honestly I don't even have a door key. I don't remember the last time that I locked the door to my house. I do lock my shop. I actually have more money invested in what is in them them than in whats in my house. I have three shops each devoted to seperate things.

I think that part of it here is that Huntsville is the home of the Texas Prison system and we have about 7 prisons in the area. I've been told by someone that had served time here that he won't even drive through here. As far as he in concerned we have almost as many cops as we hanve regular citizens. LOL, a prison guard is NO kind of cop. Now that said, people here are not likly to play stick'em up worth a damn and you can get killed trying to mug someone, male or female, that makes a living dealing with convicts.

When you hire on one of the things they tell you right off is that if you are taken hostage that they will never negotiate your release or give in to any demands that involve them getting out alive. The one thing that they will guarantee is that if you take hostages and try to use them to escape that you will DIE even if they have to shoot through someone to kill you. This only happened once and one hostage died and five prisoners died. It was never revealed who shot the bullet that killed the hostage. The other hostages survived.

This makes working in a prison a pretty safe job. My wife retired after working in the maximum security prisons for over 20 years and not once feared for her safety. The cost to an inmate for harming an employee is horrendous. How would you like to be locked in a tiny 8x10 cell with a bunk and toilet and no window for 23.5 hours a day alone for years????

Most of the people that land in prison seem to level out and not cause much trouble. In Texas it is nothing like in the movies. The convicts have jobs and work just like anyone in the free world. If they can’t do that they end up locked up in segregation. Our prisons are also factories and they make everything that they wear, grow and process their foods, make all sorts of things used in the state like the license plates and do most of the state printing work.

They raise hogs, cattle, and all sorts of crops. They raise cotton and make their uniforms, This all is not just for cutting costs it is a way to prepare criminals to go out and actually be able to hold a job IF they want to do that. If they don’t have a high-school education they go to school and will leave with the equivalent of a diploma.

A recent case of a prisoner who escaped from an open prison ( a teaching prison usually prior to being released) resulted in the prisoner being recaptured a couple of days later, I suspect he wont be returned to the open prison!!

    https://www.breitbart.com/crime/202...om-begged-for-her-life-before-fatal-shooting/

“'Allegheny County police on Wednesday night charged Calvin Crew, 22, in the killing of 38-year-old Christi Spicuzza, whose body was found in Monroeville last weekend,' the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Friday.

"Crew then instructed her to drive, to which she replied, “I’m begging you, I have four kids,” but he reportedly kept the gun on her neck.

"Moments later, he took the woman’s cellphone from the dashboard and the video ended, according to the complaint.

"Spicuzza’s body was later found with a single gunshot wound on Rosecrest Drive, CBS Pittsburgh reported.

"Police told WTAE the camera became key evidence leading to the charges against Crew “after detectives later found the discarded camera thrown against a chain linked fence in Penn Hills,” the outlet’s Janelle Hall wrote in a social media post."

I did a search of carjacking murders reported in the past week:

I use Duck-Duck-Go and Bing. Google censorship is too pronounced to be used.

    https://www.fox13memphis.com/news/l...ng-memphis-pastor/QDV3VLQ2CNGLPB46OZ6NI4OLJE/

"According to an affidavit, video footage showed Eason-Williams drove her Infiniti Q50 into her driveway, and the suspects followed her in a Hyundai.
"Two masked suspects got out and ran up to the pastor’s car.
"The person from the driver’s side fired several shots, striking Eason-Williams, police said.
"That suspect then pulled her from her car, got into the driver’s seat, and drove away.
"During the investigation, police developed Eduard G. Rodriguez Tabora, 20, as a suspect, the affidavit said.
"He was located on July 26.
"Tabora gave a statement that he was with two juveniles when Eason-Williams was killed."

"Two Charged for Newark Carjacking, Stabbing"

    https://www.shorenewsnetwork.com/2022/07/28/two-charged-for-newark-carjacking-stabbing/

"NEWARK, NJ – Two men have been arrested for an armed carjacking and stabbing of a victim in Newark on July 8th.

"According to Interim Newark Public Safety Director Raul Malave III reports, Marvin O. Benitez-Argueta, 24, of Newark and Miguel A. Granados-Cabrera, 21, of Linden, were both arrested and charged for carjacking a victim who was also stabbed during the incident.

"Both men were arrested on July 16, 2022 and charged with carjacking, unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated assault and conspiracy."

Old Gzr: OK, I looked. Here are some more details. Turns out that the two perps were involved in another stabbing that day.

    https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/crim...g-carjacking-on-same-day-in-newark/ar-AAZHINn

“'The second carjacking occurred at 5 a.m. on the 200-block of Ferry Street, where a man exiting his vehicle was approached by Granados-Cabrera and another suspect. The two suspects demanded the victim’s vehicle, stabbed him with a knife and choked him before taking his vehicle and wallet, containing $120 in cash, bank cards, and other personal property. The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment of his injuries. Granados-Cabrera is charged with carjacking in connection with this incident.'”

Here's a report of a jolly gentleman continuing his life of crime. He was released last year for a weapons charge and other unpleasantries. I imagine that once again the judicial system will show him mercy. The judicial system seems to have zero mercy for the victims.

"Attempted murder charges for man accused of shooting at police, carjacking"

    https://news.yahoo.com/attempted-murder-charges-man-accused-001108428.html

"A 33-year-old man is accused of shooting at officers in Bremerton after wrecking his car in a chase Sunday, carjacking another car at gunpoint and holing up in a house, shooting at officers during a standoff before the house caught fire, fleeing in another car and then crashing.

"Man Tried To Stop His Car From Being Stolen At A Gas Station. He Ended Up Dead."

    https://www.frontpagedetectives.com/p/georgia-carjacking-gas-station-murder-arrest

"A 29-year-old man was shot dead while he tried to stop his car from being stolen and police recently said they arrested a suspect.

"Last week, police said they arrested David Jarrad Booker, 20, in connection to the case.

"Around 12:30 p.m. on July 10, police in Gwinnett County, Georgia, responded to a gas station for a report of a person shot.

"When officers arrived, they found Bradley Coleman, 29, lying dead near the air pumps.

"Investigators said Coleman went to the gas station to put air in his tires. While he was servicing his car, another vehicle pulled in with three people inside

"Coleman tried to stop his vehicle from being stolen and got into a fight with the suspect, police said. A second suspect got out of the other car and got involved.

"The suspects ended up colliding with another car with Coleman’s vehicle. Then, one of the thieves shot the victim. The two suspects got back into the vehicle and drove away."

The above are but a few examples of the ongoing violence here in the States. Most often, those arrested have long criminal careers to include the use of firearms. Here in Amerika, the gun laws are not enforced -- often the gun charges are dropped, as a matter of fact. For using a gun during a felony, one can get 10 years in a Federal penitentiary (all the state has to do is report the case to the BATF), but that rarely happens. When the criminals start pulling long sentences for firearm crimes, the government gets excoriated for being racist. It's a no-win situation.

"A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting and robbery in Los Angeles earlier this year fled from police Friday by carjacking an SUV – killing the vehicle’s owner in the process by dragging his body for over two miles, police said.

"Joshua Renau, 31, a suspect in a San Fernando Valley murder and robbery that occurred on July 29, was under police surveillance Friday when he jumped into the passenger seat of an SUV and sped off, the LAPD said.

“'The murder suspect got out of the passenger side and carjacked another vehicle,' police said in a statement. 'The murder suspect drove away from Florence Avenue and Haas Avenue, dragging the carjacking victim.'

"The victim, who became entangled in his seatbelt, was dragged for over two miles before he broke free.

"A woman who was picking up her kids at a nearby after-school program described the horrifying scene.

“'We just saw a car coming straight at us with a dead body hanging out of the bottom,' Tina Atkins told NBC Los Angeles. 'I hopped the curb with my kids in the car because I didn’t want them to hit me.'

    https://www.fox8live.com/2022/10/01...-icu-after-more-than-two-months-enters-rehab/

"NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - After spending more than two months in the ICU, Scott Toups knows what it means to fight for survival, and to prevail against all odds.

"Toups was shot twice and carjacked Uptown, by a suspect police say had escaped from the troubled juvenile detention facility in Bridge City on July 17. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition.

"Since that fateful July day, Toups has struggled for his life: multiple surgeries, 24-hour dialysis, cardiac arrests and a ventilator."

Old Gzr: "troubled juvenile" ... hmmmm ... I guess that's the understatement of the century.

    https://www.armormax.com/blog/cities-with-the-most-carjackings-worldwide/

    Bakersfield, CA

"Although not one of the biggest cities in the states, Bakersfield nears the top of the list for motor vehicle thefts per capita, averaging roughly 726 thefts per 100k residents."

    Albuquerque, NM

"Albuquerque is another hotbed of vehicle thievery, with a tally of just under 700 thefts per 100k residents."

San Francisco, CA – The Bay Area

"Every category of criminal activity, from car thefts to violent crimes, has risen across the bay area. Motor vehicle theft per 100k residents is at nearly 500 attempts."

    Modesto, CA

"Its rate of car thefts sits at about 573 per 100k residents."

    Chicago

"As for carjacking specifically, 1,800 carjackings were reported in Chicago last year, which is by far the highest figure recorded in any United States city. In addition, the number of hijackings in Chicago in 2021 was the highest rate for the city over the previous 20 years."

    New York City, NY

"Recent years have seen a significant increase in New York City carjackings, with more than 500 reported cases in 2021. This number of vehicle thefts makes it best to avoid owner complacency as much as possible. "

    Philadelphia, PA

"Philadelphia has a problem with auto theft and carjacking, with an increase in reported cases of car thieves in recent years. In 2021, the city saw 800 recorded cases, four times the number from 2015. There have also been reports of hijacking rings in the city, which look to benefit financially from selling stolen vehicles."
    ----------------------------------------------
    Africa

    Johannesburg, South Africa

"Carjacking in South Africa is known as hijacking, and it’s a serious problem for the country. In 2014 11,221 hijackings were reported, and the severity of the situation means it has found its way in literature. Authorities are still trying to tackle the problem amidst reports of poor leadership among the police. As a result, residents have taken to using some extreme defensive measures, including a flamethrower mounted underneath the vehicle. The flamethrower is no longer sold, but other types of anti-theft technology is still common in Johannesburg and elsewhere in South Africa."
