There is bias in the media. Right wing / Left wing, take your pick. We know this. Infuriating, yet there's the matter of free speech, so both sides get to say what they want to say, present the evidence to back what they say.

But then, there's another level of heat. That is when the media gets people hurt and sometimes killed. Example, all of the mass shootings here in Amerika are copy-cat shootings. We've had semi-automatic firearms in mass distribution since the early 20th century and these types of shootings didn't happen back then. But when the media began dumping tens of millions of dollars into reporting these atrocities, the number started to rise. Now, copy-cat shootings are THE way for nut-cases to get their face and creed published across the Western world.

We know the skin-head and neo-NAZIs sites want minorities -- fill in the blank who/which -- driven-off or dead. Overt communist sites want violent revolution.

I'm not creating this thread for news from those crews. We know where they are coming from.

In Western nations, there is a trust in the mainstream media among the masses. Many others, myself included, would point out that the "benevolent" media isn't so benevolent.

"Report: Wannabe Kavanaugh Assassin Claimed He Was 'Shooting For 3 SCOTUS Justices"

    https://summit.news/2022/07/28/repo...laimed-he-was-shooting-for-3-scotus-justices/

"FBI documents obtained by Fox News have revealed that the suspect arrested for allegedly planning to kill Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh also intended to target two other conservative judges in an attempt to 'stop roe v wade from being overturned.'

"As we have highlighted, despite the disturbing arrest, Democrats have repeatedly refused to condemn protests, and even encouraged them, outside the homes of conservative Justices, or while they are with their families.

"'Is [Justice Kavanaugh being forced to leave a D.C. restaurant due to protestors] appropriate, sir?'

"Judge Napolitano: Schumer's threat toward Supreme Court justices 'very dangerous'"

    https://www.foxnews.com/media/chuck-schumer-supreme-court-justices-threat

"Fox News senior judicial analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano warned on 'Fox & Friends' on Thursday that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., politicizing the Supreme Court is 'very dangerous.'

“'This is protected speech. I condemn what Schumer said, but will defend to the death his right to say it, but it is dangerous speech if more people pick up on it,' Napolitano said in response to Schumer’s threatening comments the day before.

"On Wednesday, Schumer made the threatening statements toward Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh at a pro-abortion rally outside the court.

"Schumer ominously singled out President Trump's two Supreme Court picks on Wednesday saying, 'I want to tell you, Gorsuch. I want to tell you, Kavanaugh. You have released the whirlwind and you will pay the price!'"

    Agreed.

The danger that common-sense folk face is the herd reaction to the media's irresponsible reporting.

We preppers have been demonized (daemonised) in the press. The political folk in the MSM do NOT want people prepared for hard times. They wish people to be dependent on government, thus controllable. Those who do not submit, they want eliminated by any means necessary.

MSM message, "You are a loony if you think that government could collapse. You should be red-flagged."

One thing we have to prepare for (we sure do here in Amerika, anyway) is the masses being stampeded by the propagandists.

We have been put into the position to have to hide and/or defend ourselves from the redistributionists.

In times past, people were far more self sufficient. That has been stripped away and the control-freaks in god-government love such dependency. This plays right into their hands. "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."

you would have thought govt would be pleased that people were prepared to look after themselves, then they could concentrate on those folk that didnt/couldnt/wouldnt, but I guess I'm out of date.
my parents and my friends parents always had larders and bottled/preserved stuff, but very few people have larders these days, some country folk do still but not city or urban dwellers, they dont need to I guess as they have several supermarkets to choose from, and the supermarkets will never run out of food, right? wrong, but they wont know that until it happens, even members of my in laws follow this so called logic but wont be told.

A responsible government WOULD be happy with a self-reliant populace. Due to the centralization of governments, we now have professional politicians. This is breed of human that should not ever exist. We have government workers who know no other life other than being part of the machine.

The U.S. Constitution was written to create a weak central government. Here in the States, government was seen as a necessary evil. Some entity was needed so that the individual states could accomplish tasks in unison that simply couldn't be accomplished by a lone state. The national army was to be formed only when needed and then by a gathering-together of state militias composed of all men aged around 20 to 50 years. Militias were composed of non-professional soldiers. Just local men and their rifles. States provided rifles to men who didn't own their own. Interstate commerce is also specifically mentioned in the U.S. Constitution. States do not have to form treaties between themselves, these matters are handled by Congress. The only purpose of the presidency / administrative branch is to enforce the laws set-down by Congress and during an attack against the states, to be the Commander in Chief. The Supreme Court is there to determine if laws enacted by Congress violate the Constitution. And that is that. Big government = against the Constitution.

The current beast that poses as government in Washington D.C. is has gone anti-Constitutional. Not only do the career politicians and the oligarchs who own them see themselves as permanently in power, they see the citizenry as their lessers, a herd needing to be perpetually guided. If any of the cattle attempt to be independent, then those go to slaughter. The mainstream media in Amerika is the 5th column for the ruling class. Many Republicans are as socialist as Democrats.

If any good thing good will result from the coming economic collapse, it will be the destruction of the cancerous government metastasizing out of Washington D.C. .

the trouble with the British govt-of whatever party is in power not just the current one- is that it is "London Centric", they think the UK begins and ends with London and nothing outside of the capital matters that much, thats the reason we only have one rail line into most of my county and the whole of Cornwall, and only one main highway through Devon and down into Cornwall, so it takes a long time to get anywhere or to get anything shipped, thats not just now, its been like this for a long time and its the same in many Northern parts of England too.
its always been known in this region of England that if a major National or even International catastrophe occured we plebs down in the far South West will be abandoned to look after ourselves as best we can, after all we are a load of grass chewing inbred country yokels arent we?
at least thats the opinion of all these professional political types who all live in the capital and seldom leave it.
about the only time you'll see a politician this far west is in an election year(every 5 years) and then you cant move for photo opportunities and babies being kissed.

Here in the States, we have versions of "London-Centric".

Federal laws are urban-centric, especially when the laws have their origin in the Democratic Party / deep-state.

But this also happens on the state level, also. Arkansas gets wagged by Little Rock. Georgia gets perverted by Atlanta. Upstate New York is America. New York city is no longer a part of America. Heartland Massachusetts is America. Boston is anti-American. Central California is a wondrous food-producing region. San Fransisco and Los Angeles are cancers eating away at California. Leftists say that there are more people living in urban areas. Heartlanders say that they are fed-up with having to support the urban masses. Do urbanites grow their own food, mine their coal, dig their own oil wells?

    Dependence = Subservience

One thing about the coming REAL food shortages (what we've seen so far is nothing compared to what awaits) is that Heartlanders are now overtly angry at the urbanites. It is well established that the city-slickers look down on them. Heartlanders in future will only be looking-after Heartlanders, not their "betters" in the cities. When push comes to shove, National Guard soldiers are loyal to their own people, not the Federal brass. People say the land is owned by Archer Daniels Midland or Bill Gates. You don't own what you can't protect. Heartlanders are armed and many/most are ex-military (combat). They will shoot their enemies dead. They will sabotage food shipments to locations they do not wish their agricultural products sent. Push them at your own risk.

Back in March of 2017, i.e. six years have passed, the American Journal of Public Health presented an article on how the media should stop it with the sensationalization of mass murderers.

"Mass Shootings: The Role of the Media in Promoting Generalized Imitation"

    Am J Public Health. 2017 March; 107(3): 368–370.
Published online 2017 March. doi: 10.2105/AJPH.2016.303611

    https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5296697/

    Begin quote:

Recently a contagion effect, similar to a “copycat” effect, has been suggested in mass shootings. This effect suggests that behaviors can be “contagious” and spread across a population. In the example of mass shootings, a contagion effect would be said to exist if a single mass shooting incident increased the likelihood of other instances of mass shootings in the near future. Contagion has been documented across a variety of other behaviors, including airplane hijackings,2 smoking cessation,3 and binge eating,4 and has been well researched in relation to suicide.5,6 There is now evidence that when a mass shooting occurs, there is a temporary increase in the probability of another event within the next 13 days on average.7

When mass shooters imitate other mass shooters, they are generally not imitating personally observed events (although this is possible in gang-related instances). In each case in which the event is unobserved, all information that could serve as a model for imitative behavior was provided via various media sources (legacy media, social media, new media), and research has demonstrated that media can influence imitation.11 Not only do people often imitate behaviors that are portrayed in the media, the “reality” of the portrayal does not seem to have a significant influence. Imitation can occur regardless of whether the model is presented live, whether it is presented via film,11 or even when the model’s behavior is merely described.12

Importantly, the way that the media report an event can play a role in increasing the probability of imitation. When a mass shooting event occurs, there is generally extensive media coverage. This coverage often repeatedly presents the shooter’s image, manifesto, and life story and the details of the event,13 and doing so can directly influence imitation.

Social status is conferred when the mass shooter obtains a significant level of notoriety from news reports. Images displaying shooters aiming guns at the camera project an air of danger and toughness.14 Similarities between the shooter and others are brought to the surface through detailed accounts of the life of the shooter, with which others may identify. Fulfilled manifestos and repeated reports of body counts heap rewards on the violent act and display competence. Detailed play-by-play accounts of the event provide feedback on the performance of the shooter. All of these instances serve to create a model with sufficient detail to promote imitated mass shootings for some individuals.

If the manner with which the media (legacy, new, social) report a mass shooting event plays a role in promoting further mass shootings, changing these reporting methods could decrease imitation. This tactic has been effective in decreasing imitated suicide,15 and the World Health Organization, citing 50 years of research on imitation, has posted media guidelines on reporting suicides to prevent imitational suicides.16 The guidelines include suggestions such as not sensationalizing suicide (e.g., suggesting an “epidemic”), avoiding prominent headlines, not suggesting that suicide is caused by any single factor such as depression, not repeating the story too frequently, not providing step-by-step descriptions of methods, limiting use of photographs and videos, and being particularly careful with celebrity suicides.

Similar suggestions have been provided for reporting mass shootings. For instance, the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training team, in collaboration with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, has developed the “Don’t Name Them” campaign. The campaign aims to curb media-induced imitational mass shootings and suggests minimizing naming and describing the individuals involved in mass shootings, limiting sensationalism, and refusing to broadcast shooter statements or videos. James Comey, director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, followed a similar strategy in describing the 2016 shooting in Orlando:

You will notice that I am not using the killer’s name and I will try not to do that. Part of what motivates sick people to do this kind of thing is some twisted notion of fame or glory, and I don’t want to be part of that for the sake of the victims and their families, and so that other twisted minds don’t think that this is a path to fame and recognition.17

Adopting the recommendations of the World Health Organization and the Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training team could help decrease the number of mass shootings in the United States.

A second strategy could be to avoid in-depth descriptions of the shooter’s rationale for engaging in the behavior. In general, people are more likely to imitate the behaviors of other people who they view as similar to themselves. When the media repeatedly describes a purported motive for the shooting they may inadvertently be pointing out similarities between the shooter and others that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. For example, stating that a shooter took revenge after years of bullying may portray a mass shooting as one possible response option for individuals experiencing bullying and with similar backgrounds as the shooter. Understanding the motive for a mass shooting is undoubtedly important, but in-depth descriptions of rationales may serve not only to inform but also to increase the likelihood of imitation.

A third strategy could be to reduce the overall duration of news coverage after a mass shooting. In the case of suicide, a dose–response relationship has been suggested wherein increased media coverage of a suicide event results in an increase in imitational suicides.19 The same might be true for imitational mass shootings. There is a clamor for news after a mass shooting, and media coverage may continue for weeks. To the extent that media attention is perceived as rewarding the actions of the shooter through notoriety, thereby also increasing the social status of the shooter, decreasing overall media coverage may minimize the likelihood of imitation following a mass shooting event.

A fourth strategy could be to limit the use of live press events immediately following a mass shooting. Although there is a heightened desire for information in the immediate aftermath of a mass shooting, this information does not necessarily need to be offered in a live event, which might increase the overall level of “excitement” surrounding the event. Instead, information could be released via written updates. Not only would this minimize perceived reward, it might actually serve to decrease overall interest in the event, which might further curb imitation.

Similarly, it is important that new outlets present only the facts of a mass shooting rather than attempting to produce entertaining or dramatic digital re-creations of the event. There should be a clear attempt on the part of the media to reduce the frenetic energy or emotion of a “breaking news story.” Instead, the bare facts of the event should be conveyed in a straightforward or even dull manner to minimize interest in the event. Sensationalism should be avoided.

Finally, media reports should avoid providing detailed accounts of the actions of a mass shooter before, during, or after the event. Describing the shooter’s actions in extensive detail, or through graphical presentations, may provide additional information regarding the behaviors that might further prompt imitation. Instead, only the details necessary to describe the event should be provided. The less the behavior is described, the less likely it is to be imitated.

The responsibility for these acts does not reside with the media, but the media are an important vector for the spread of such behaviors. Changing the way in which the media report a mass shooting could be difficult given that sensationalizing a tragic event brings in both viewers and revenue, which is a powerful incentive. In addition, the continual creation and expansion of social and new media platforms may make change more difficult because, in these instances, individuals rather than larger corporate entities develop and disseminate media. Given the numerous media outlets that exist and the various motivations behind the posting of content, it is unlikely that the reforms suggested here could be effectively mandated.

However, public pressure could be exerted on the various media outlets and individual contributors to change their reporting tactics. In the case of new and social media, this same pressure could influence the various platforms to provide guidelines regarding uploaded content related to a mass shooting. The first step toward building this public pressure is to make the general public aware of the link between the media and generalized imitation, as well as the role the media play in unknowingly perpetuating acts of violence.

"Trans Anti-Christian Video Game Attacking ‘Gender-Critical Tyrants’ Released Months Before School Attack"

    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/...ian-video-game-released-months-school-attack/

"A video game featuring a transgender hero who shoots down trans critics — including priests — in order to allow players to “unleash [their] pent-up fury upon the gender-critical tyrants with an arsenal of deadly weapons” was published by a trans game developer two months before Monday’s Christian school shooting in Nashville, Tennessee.

"Titled 'Terfenstein 3D,' the game’s name is a play on the pejorative term 'TERF' or 'Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist.'

"According to Dictionary.com, it refers to an 'advocate of radical feminism who believes that a trans woman’s gender identity is not legitimate and who is hostile to the inclusion of trans people and gender-diverse people in the feminist movement.'

"The game is a spinoff of the classic Wolfenstein, the longest-running first-person shooter series, where an American Army captain protagonist battles off evil Nazis.

"Later, Moen called the game a “call to action,” having previously explained that “TERF’s are not the only fascists you have to endure when you’re transgender.”

"The transgender movement has been accused of pushing hostile and apocalyptic rhetoric leading up to the deadly shooting of a Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, which left six dead, including three nine-year-old children.

"The shooter was later revealed to be Audrey Hale, who identified as transgender.

"Several notable tweets appear to show gun-toting transgender activists threatening critics."

    https://nypost.com/2023/03/29/arizona-govs-spox-quits-over-post-shooting-transphobes-tweet/

"The press secretary for Democratic Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs resigned Wednesday, two days after posting a tweet that appeared to support gunning down 'transphobes' in the wake of the deadly shooting at a Nashville Christian school.

"[Josselyn] Berry had posted an image of a woman brandishing firearms hours after Monday’s shooting at the Covenant School, which left three 9-year-old students and three staff members dead.

"Berry had tweeted Monday that if you 'are transphobic, you’re not progressive,' prompting one Twitter user to respond, 'Not sure these transphobic-from-the-left posers know who they’re messing with.'

“'Us when we see transphobes,' Berry tweeted back with the gun-toting GIF from the 1980 movie Gloria.'

“'Less than 12 hours after the tragic shooting in Nashville by a deranged transgender activist [Hobbs’] Press Secretary calls for shooting people Democrats disagree with,' the Arizona Freedom Caucus proclaimed on Twitter.

"Berry later made her Twitter account private. She previously worked at Progress Now Arizona, a left-wing nonprofit that provides strategic digital campaign services.

"US House Minority Whip Katherine Clark (D-Mass.) on Wednesday made similarly tone-deaf remarks, when she used violent language to describe the transgender community’s political activism.

“'Ahead of Trans Day of Visibility, I rise in honor of a community that is being forced to fight for its very existence,' Clark said at the start of her speech on the House floor, less than 48 hours after the shooting."

“'Although I do not advocate violating federal and state criminal codes, I think it is far more admirable to kill a racist, homophobic, or transphobic speaker than it is to shout them down,' Shaviro wrote in a Facebook post."

"'Trans Day of Vengeance' WILL go ahead at Supreme Court despite Nashville school trans shooter Audrey Hale killing six"

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...turday-despite-Nashville-school-shooting.html

"An activist group is due to hold a 'Trans Day of Vengeance' demonstration outside the Supreme Court on Saturday, warning against 'astronomical amounts of hate from the world' and following the horrifying Nashville shooting which left seven dead on Monday.

"The Trans Radical Activist Network (TRAN) will host the event in Washington D.C. from 31 March until 2 April, starting Friday and marching on the Supreme Court at 11am on Saturday. On their website they cite Gender Affirming care ban bills and the political climate as motives for the demonstration.

"But commentators are up in arms over the decision to go ahead with the protest as police say they are investigating the role of Nashville shooter Audrey Hale's gender identity and a sense of 'resentment' that may have inspired the attack on the shooter's Christian former school."

Hopefully the mass media will not publish this latest manifesto of a killer, yet we all know that they will. Such crime evidence should only be released to psychiatric researchers. The shooter's name should also be kept out of news articles.

"Transgender Shooter's Manifesto Will Be Released Publicly"

    https://summit.news/2023/03/30/transgender-shooters-manifesto-will-be-released-publicly/

    Begin quote:

The transgender shooter’s manifesto will be released publicly, but only after the FBI has combed through it to build a psychological profile of the killer.

28-year-old Audrey Hale was shot dead by police after killing three children and three adults at The Covenant School, a private Christian school for students aged three to 11.

Authorities say Hale deliberately targeted the school after considering but then rejecting two other public school targets because they had better security.

Police initially said Hale’s transgender identity was a factor in motivating her rampage, but it seemed the manifesto she left might remain secret after lobbying from LGBT groups.

However, Nashville Council Member Robert Swope told the New York Post that the manifesto will be released publicly after all.

The FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit is working “in tandem with” the Metro Nashville Police Department (MNPD) to complete “a very in-depth analysis of certain aspects of the shooter’s life,” Swope added.

Speculation has raged as to whether Tennessee’s ban on hormone treatments and puberty blockers for children, as well as its restrictions on drag queen shows, were motivating factors for Hale.

As we highlighted yesterday, the media narrative has switched to there being “no known motive” behind the attack, an explanation presumably based on the expectation that the manifesto would remain hidden.

This would conveniently absolve the press from having to scrutinize whether elements of the trans activist movement has become violently radicalized in recent years.

A Daily Mail report suggests Hale’s parents refused to respect her new ‘he/him’ pronouns and that the shooter would leave the home to change outfits.

According to the report, Hale’s parents “just didn’t accept” her new lifestyle.

Respondents to the story savaged the Daily Mail for appearing to place more blame on the parents than on Hale herself.

“Ah yes, blame the Christians for the mass shooting. FFS can media like @DailyMail get anymore disgusting and deranged?” one Twitter user asked.

“You’re not even trying to hide your anti-Christian bigotry,” responded another.

    Begin quote

Since the October 7 Hamas massacre of Israeli civilians, House Democratic members of the “Squad” have drawn harsh criticism from even members of their own party for their rabidly anti-Israel posturing. But rather than shining a spotlight on the controversy, the broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) instead dutifully sheltered them from public scrutiny; in fact, since the attack, they have not received even a second of airtime on the evening newscasts.

MRC analysts combed through all of ABC, CBS, and NBC’s evening newscasts from October 7 through October 23 for any mention of the House Democrats colloquially known as “the Squad.” Despite dedicating a whopping 525 minutes (nearly 9 hours) of airtime to the ongoing tumult in Gaza, none of these three networks gave even a second to any member of the progressive cadre.

That’s not for a lack of action on the part of the Congresswomen (and one man). We compiled a list of eight anti-Israel actions and remarks by Squad members which one might reasonably expect serious journalistic outlets to mention in their Gaza coverage.

    upload_2023-10-24_13-27-39.png

For the purpose of this study, the Squad refers to an informal group of seven House Democrats. In addition to the four original members — Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), Ayanna Pressley (D-OH), and Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) — other common recipients of the label include Reps. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), Cori Bush (D-MO), and Summer Lee (D-PA). Some lists also include Gregorio Casar (D-TX), but as he did not engage in any of the behavior included in the table above (nor was he mentioned in any of the newscasts), he was not included in the study.

It’s no wonder, then, that the broadcast networks have been tight-lipped about the anti-Israel wing of the Democratic Party. Thanks to this careful pruning, millions of nightly newswatchers have been sold the image of a unified Congress, united along bipartisan lines in support of an American ally. That i
mage may be false, but a little mendacity is a small price to pay for a news media whose primary concern is PR for their favorite political party.

"Is NPR Trying To Start A Race War?"

"The racial lens through which NPR produces coverage has driven government-funded pundits to produce bizarre takes on race."

    https://thefederalist.com/2023/08/05/is-npr-trying-to-start-a-race-war/

    Begin quote

The government-funded pundits at National Propaganda Radio (NPR) seem to have a toxic fixation with race.

On Tuesday, the outlet blamed the success of American country music on racial prejudice. In a podcast episode titled “How racism became a marketing tool for country music,” NPR brought on a historian to outline the myriad ways country music is a vehicle for white supremacy. The host, Britany Luse, introduces the episode by previewing questions to Amanda Martinez, a country music historian at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Luse wants to know “how country music became this symbol of racism” and why country music stars remain popular despite artists who currently lead the charts “peddling racist rhetoric today.”

“Is racism really what it takes make country music number one?” Luse asks. “I wanted to know how country music became this symbol of racism.”

The episode went to air over recent allegations of racism against country music stars currently at the top of the charts. Jason Aldean’s recent number-one hit, “Try That In A Small Town,” drew controversy over the suggestion that inner-city riots such as the record-devastating outbursts that erupted in 2020 wouldn’t be tolerated outside major metropolitan areas.

According to NPR, the song is racist because of its condemnation of deadly uprisings brought about by Black Lives Matter under the righteous banner of social justice.

But let’s examine the obscenity that’s come to define rap music.

In 2020, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP,” which stands for “Wet A– P-ssy,” topped the Billboard charts for at least four weeks. The lyrics are so obscene that they are not suitable for publication. Readers can read them here.

In 2017, Jay-Z’s “Story of O.J.” played on Jewish stereotypes of financial dominance.

You wanna know what’s more important than throwin’ away money at a strip club? Credit. You ever wonder why Jewish people own all the property in America? This how they did it.

Rap music has also mocked Arabs and Asians. Ice Cube released “Black Korea” in 1991, deriding “funky little stores” run by Asian-Americans.

Every time I wanna go get a f-ckin’ brew I gotta go down to the store with the two Oriental one penny countin’ motherf-ckers that make a n-gga mad enough to cause a little ruckus … Pay respect to the fist or we’ll burn your store, right down to a crisp.

Now let’s look at some of the commentary from NPR celebrating the genre. In June 2020, NPR published a list of 50 songs deemed significant to black history that they claim “lift music itself” and represent the “spirit of resistance” against racial injustices. To NPR, rap music represents a revolutionary response in support of a righteous cause, and country music represents the worst elements of American racism.

In 2019, an NPR affiliate also decried struggling to pronounce foreign names as “racist.”

If someone wanted to incite a race war, they would pull from the NPR playbook, inserting an element of racial animus into every story. The pattern of coverage from the taxpayer-funded outlet reveals an agenda on race that’s far more corrosive to national discourse than if Aldean had even tossed the N-word into his number-one hit.
