I no longer have a 10/22 but when I did, I had a extended release on it. Ruger design sucks. I'll bet you'll like it. Good luck.

the mag release came today. I put it in and it didn't function properly. The after market release has a U shaped notch in it and the original ruger release has a half U notch. The after market was gritty and would stay open or closed, it had to be pushed open or closed. I said screw it and took a Dremel and cut half of the U notch off so it was like the ruger release. now it functions properly. not a big deal but I would not have thought it would have to be heavily modified to work. will it hold up?

Is it made of plastic or aluminum? If aluminum, is it a cast piece or a fully machined piece? If it's fully machined your in luck.

pulled up my order and they sent me the incorrect levers. It's weird too, the model number on the tacticool package won't come up on their website. I bought two of them and one I modified and the other will not work without modification. I'll probably look around for another brand. I bought these on amazon straight from tacticool.

it appears machined, I made it work but am a bit disappointed that what they sent me isn't what I ordered.

I have two 10/22s: a take-down (not the extra light one, but the one with the 18" barrel) and another with an 18" fluted barrel. Great guns, but I don't like the trigger.

I bought a Geissele 2-stage trigger for an AR and it was wonderful! I'd like to get a better trigger for the fluted-barrel AR, but I've read a lot of negative reviews of the Ruger "upgrade" -- and the Kidd trigger costs as much as the rifle itself!

Does anyone here have any personal experience with aftermarket triggers for the 10/22?

The only upgrade triggers on 10/22's I've ever used are Timney. Like you said they are crazy expensive but the have a great break (very crisp) kind of like snapping a candy cane, and if your looking to push what you can get out of a 10/22. There worth it. I actually moved away from 10/22's because of there performance. Using a Savage Mark II 22LR now (bolt action) for the extended range and the bolt action makes no noise with my suppressor. With subsonic ammo I'm accurate out to 75 - 80 yards on a inch and a half target and with supersonic ammo I can push out to 120 yards.

I may try the brownell mag release, a little nervous that it is made from a composite material.

don't know much about the 10-22, not really a fan of them, good rifle but they shoulder up weird for me.

It's made from the same stuff as Magpul's mags and they are very tough. Drove a semi truck over one and did a mag dump. It functioned flawlessly. Just an idea.

I never thought about extended mag releases for a .22. I've had all manner of different magazines. Some worked OK.

I only think about .22 rifles as ... uh ... just .22 rifles. I like rifles; most if mine are .22 LR or magnum. They're cute. Used to be on competition rifle team in youth. I've always liked plinking. Got tired of the formalities of competition stuff. Grew up had a family.

Tiny game and small game, plinking -- that's all that .22s are for. Great survival machine -- puts food on supper table. I don't need any sort of swift magazine release. They are certainly massively inadequate for home defense, these rimfires.

Wife stuck one under my nose one night after I'd gotten off 2nd shift. "Anything I said dear?" She'd gotten a phone death threat. Had a psycho relative, she did. I told her she'd done the right thing, pulling a rifle on me. That .22 wouldn't have been adequate to take out the psycho guy -- didn't tell her that. Got her a .38.

I've killed things with the .22 magnum. Does outrageous tissue damage. Will ruin edible meat, so be careful! But for self-defense, hmmmm ... I d'know. I guess if one were down to that. Massad Ayoob called the .22 magnum a "nasty little round." The idea of being shot with one is a dreadful thought.

The 10/22 I've owned in standard rifle and in bull barrel "target". The 10/22 target doesn't have a true .22 target chamber length, just a regular chamber. The bull barrel doesn't heat-up / deform much when having had a bunch of ammo put through it, now that is true. Accurate, more than enough, for hunting and that's a valuable quality. But again, I don't see any purpose for rapid magazine release. Shoot, you can get teardrop crank magazines that will hold over 30 rounds (billed to hold what? 50 rounds, they won't), plink a long time with that. Won't save your life, any .22 LR. They are only for stew meat and target shooting. I don't care about any of the stories I've heard or will hear. Get a shotgun if you want to put meat on the table and have a home defense weapon in the same machine.

Not to derail the topic (sort of like a 2020 democrat speaking) BUT since we are talking about Ruger Rimfiress What is anybodies opinion on the Ruger Precision Rimfire?

Love the look and concept behind it. Don't know anyone that owns one so haven't got to shoot one yet. Yes, I said YET!

The scope rail is bit of an issue. It has a 30 MOA cant, so the scope turrets needs a lot of elevation. I plan to install a SWFA 20 by 50 fixed power scope, with 110 MOA of elevation (55 MOA from center). I am just not completely sure about it's accuracy potential. The parallax adjusts from 10 yards to infinity, so I am not too concerned about the fixed power on the close range shots. The reviews a bit mixed, so hard to get a real clear picture. This would be my squirrel /bird, small game rifle.

I understand the 30 MOA cant since the platform mimics Ruger's Precision centerfire platform. If you wanting to ring the most performance out of the platform, the 30 MOA cant in 22LR with high velocity ammo may give you at least an extra 50 yards or more. On paper that will be great but for game I'm not sure how much good it will do you. Not sure how much knockdown a 22LR will have at 200 yards or more. When you get one, please let us know what you think of it. I have a Ruger 77/22 that I might sell to get one of these. Might get my daughter one for a lefty.

@Dalewick -- If your daughter shoots lefty (like me) then a right hand bolt is great. Trigger hand (dominant hand) can stay on grip and weak hand operates the bolt. Fast cycling and the ability to stay on target. Once I get the Precision Rimfire, I will keep everybody up dated. NOTE, that won't be until middle of next year. A lot of expenses coming up soon.
