Some people don't like this type of food because they think the original taste is lost somehow (but they usually can't explain exactly how it happens ), while others like and they don't realize anything wrong with the taste, as well as finding this kind of food something extremely practical. :)

Which team would you say belongs to?

I freeze the dogs food and keep my guilty secret ice-cream in the freezer. Frozen ready meals are ok but we get too many power cuts for me to really trust the freezer.

Well... It looks a nice plan. But what would be your final verdict on this matter anyway? :D

You were impartial in my opinion. :)

Generally speaking, I prefer fresh, unfrozen foods. In practice, however, we freeze a lot of our own, as well as eat prepackaged items. For preparedness purposes, it is a relatively short term affair for many. We have backup power via a generator, but eventually, that is going to run out of fuel. So if the disruption is going to be a while, the plan is to consume the frozen stuff first, then move on to the canned.

The fresh ones are always the best and most healthy choices. There is no way to compete with them. :) Well... At least in my opinion. ;)

It's cheap and it can fill at least 3 meals for about a dollar's worth so I'd say it's a good way to save money and still have your fill. I do that too at the end of the month and I had unexpected expenses like the cat getting sick. I have to ration my money to last until the next payday, so I do whatever I can to save money but still not starve. Eggs, soup, noodles, and frozen food are great since they taste pretty good while still being incredibly affordable. I just have to make sure I don't eat the same thing consecutively or else I'd lose interest.

You mentioned a very pertinent point about frozen foods, the price. :) They are usually very cheap, and this often comes to the attention (because it's obviously something good :p) of customers' pockets / wallets / purses. :D

Yeah. Back in college a pack of hotdogs is about a dollar (the small, generic ones anyway) and it's easier to manage your meals after that. A pack is basically 3 meals' worth and that's not even cutting it. So of course I'd take it if I really need to make due with minimal expenses, since I'm not overflowing in cash. It's cheap, easy to cook, and it's pretty good tasting. Almost no downsides apart from the whole artificial thing.

@OursIsTheFury But considering the aspect of having an always healthy life (I know that we can't always do this, but we have to try hard, right?)... Don't you think that the frozen foods go against us and end up becoming our "enemies"?

frozen food has its place, we buy meat a lot of meat, especially when we can get it cheap, 7 PACKS of bacon yesterday for £5, cheap chickens, venison etc. it all goes into our meat freezer for later use.

Frozen food are practical because you don't have to make it on your own thereby saves your time and effort but the down side is it's not as healthy as the fresh food that we eat or drink. It somehow lost the health benefits of a fresh food as well as the fresh taste and it is just stayed fresh due to preservatives in it.

I remember the days when life was not as comfortable now. We would go shopping on weekends to buy food supplies for the entire week. As expected, most of what we bought would land in the fridge with the meat going to the freezer. But when we had acquired a housemaid, we had a paradigm shift to place a premium on the ingredients of the dishes that we cook. Yeah, someone goes to the market almost everyday for food supplies because we don’t freeze our food anymore. It’s not just the taste but also the quality especially of the meat. If we can afford to buy fresh food ingredients, why not?

Even if it`s frozen, still it remains to be a food. I don`t have an opportunity to buy food supplies every day. Once a week I go to the market and make a stock for following week. As for taste, well, probably it changes a bit, but I am not very choosy in this matter. I am grateful for any food I have. Frozen or fresh one, doesn`t matter for me, as long as I have something to eat.

If given a choice, I will choose fresh food over frozen all the time, but sometimes life can get so busy that you have to make do with frozen products. However, I try not to buy too much frozen food. I prefer to make mine at home and freeze over a period of time.

It's convenient but it's not healthy and it's expensive overall. Frozen food is a poverty trap sold to the masses since it's easy to pop something into the microwave for a minute and you have something ready to eat. However the cost far outweighs its benefits in the form of upcharging for the novelty/convenience and health later on since it leads to obesity and diabetes due to the garbage fillers.

There are some frozen foods I like better than fresh. Although I like both fresh or frozen. we get quite a bit of frozen foods & we freeze Alot if meat. Family of 6 consumes a ton of food. So it's pure economics. Yes, as the generator becomes a depreciating asset when SHTF, we will eat all the frozen foods straight away.

We used to freeze a lot of stuff that at one time we had canned. Freezing is faster and easier and the taste is closer to fresh. We froze the whole kernel corn, cream style corn, diced tomatoes and greens. The tomato sauce, soups, green beans, fruits and such we canned. Pressure cooking changes the taste a little bit.

I would not rely on frozen foods in a SHTF scenario. One could be out of power, with no way to keep the goods frozen, and all could go to spoil. Barring that however, the issue for health reasons is not that the food is frozen, hut whether or not it's processed. Processed foods aren't good for us. We need whole foods for better diet and health.
