For people who do not own a car or bike, public transit is one of the ways people go around. Public transit could be a bus, train, boat or tricycle.

The big question is have you ever being pressed or felt the immediate need to use the loo while on public transit? If yes, how did you survive such an embarrassing situation?

    Have a nice day!

Well, most often I tend to ride my bike to the workplace and back home... or in bad weather my car. I did used to use the bus during my school years though. Almost every day. I hated how crowded it was though.

Anyway, what did I do? I simply either, held it in (us, women, can be good at that :p) or I pressed that emergency stop button, left the bus and went to one of the nearby cafe's or bars and used the loo. I never had to go so badly that I'd end up peeing myself or something embarrassing.

I think holding the number 2 would be a bigger problem, haha.

Seriously? Unless you have a medical problem you should be able to manage a brief commute to work.

The simple solution is I never use public transit, though it has nothing to do wit this "scenario". But what an odd question. How about just using the can before leaving for work?

This is an anecdote of my husband in a local train in Metro Manila. It was nearing Christmas and public transport is always full. It was one late morning when my husband, with a big plastic bag of goodies for giveaways to his client, went to the platform to wait for the train. But the platform was already full so he just stood at the rear and accepted that he would be able to ride not even on the next but maybe on the 3rd train. When the train stopped, there was mayhem. The passengers were in a mad scramble for the train's open door. Unknowingly, my husband was sandwiched by the crowd and he was not moving but he was moving. In other words, the crowd was like carrying him to the train's door. And before the door closed, my husband found himself inside the train. It was fortunate that his plastic bag was intact in his hands. But he wouldn't forget that incident and swore not to ride in commuter trains anymore.

I have survived numerous such situations. There is exhaustion and breathelessness. This is especially acute if passengers are standing. I usually bend forwards towards the seated passengers and grab the metal of their chairs to create space where I was standing. That way, I can travel with minimal discomfort. And watch your pockets!

Public transport such as bus and the train has this special glass you can break using the tool ( looks like a small hammer with a pointed end) next to it. If the accident is no that severe, I could use that to let me escape.

I don't use public transport these days, too many germs.
if I cant go somewhere in my own car then I don't go there.
as a prepper I need a vehicle to collect all the things I store, cant do that on public transport.

We don't have mass transit transportation. We ALL have several cars or trucks. No trains, No subways and our bus system is for the elderly other than school buses. Texas is big and scattered out unless you live in one of the major metropolitan areas. We drive a lot and don't think much about driving over a hundred miles a day going to and from work. My wife drove 40 miles today one way to work. I've driven as far as 90 miles one way before to go to work. It
s about a 40 mile round trip to go to a store other then our little country store or a convenience store.

Honestly I would rather drive for an hour than be crammed in to something like sardines in a can. That would bother me. Probably if I had been raised that way I would be used to it but I don't even like crowded elevators and that is a short trip!

If that is all you have to worry about, do be thankful.

This is a survival site, as in life or death. Do keep such in mind when picking a topic of discussion.

Humor is a relief, however we (as in the people of Earth) will be staring down / are staring down raw hell. Ideas on this site may just help someone make it through hard times alive, as opposed to ambient temperature.

Think about this, look at how many women are sexually attacked when using public transit. Some are stalked and viciously attacked after being targeted by a rapist on public transit. Women learning to defend themselves is a survival topic.

Personally I don't see how people survive in those huge ant pile type places where they are stacked up sky high with thousands and thousands of people per square mile. Urban survival is getting tougher and tougher and in those inner cities we can see what the future may hold for all of us.

People with irritable bowel syndrome battle this problem every day. Have you put some serious thought to how you are going to handle toilet issues while on the run or when defending your BOL? Toilet paper just won't last long and is too bulky. I recommend a couple of sponges that you can rinse out. Leaves just don't do it real well and when you start eating all sorts of odd things you had better be prepared for some gastric upset. Imodium is a must in every bug out bag! People in battle don't eat or drink very much for a reason. Plan ahead!

By the way, people used urine to wash their clothes for centuries. It was the easiest access to ammonia and an astringent. Also urine is basically sterile and can be used to safely wash out a wound.

nearest main line railway is down on the south coast about 50 miles away, no airport, bus service is sporadic at best , we are out in the countryside and the bus only goes to a city and takes all day to get there and back, some places nearby have no bus service at all.

Mass transit systems just don't work well when people are scattered. The US has allowed our rail system to crumble to the point that it is almost useless for moving people. We are almost totally dependent on low affordable gas prices to run our cars and trucks because there is NO alternative way to get to and from work when you get away from the major population centers especially around the mid to northern Atlantic coastal centers.

applies the same in England, anyone living in a rural area HAS to have a vehicle to get to work and go to the supermarket , its not a luxury its a necessity.

In the US the liberals are all crowded in the big ant piles while the conservatives are out and away. It used to be a North South or East West thing but now it is universally urban versus suburban and rural. People that live in the big cities just don't have a clue about where their food and such come from. The inner cities are populated by people that don't work and expect someone else to take care of them and then they are surrounded by the affluent that know that everyone owes them a living.
