Hey...while I am thinking about it...I occasionally post on a UK prepper site...

It seems this site has been removed from the WWW.

It is Prepare to Survive UK....sometimes called P2S Uk.

Here's a topic you'll not see in any urban publication, "What are you going to do when the power goes off for a couple of weeks ... or more?!"

“This should not have happened,” he told reporters, “and we need to make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
    — Mayor Bill de Blasio

"Humans are gods, we can control the weather, we can prevent sacred electricity from abandoning us," so goes the mantra.

Not only do I no longer care if stupid people get hurt, I want to see them suffer.

People have grown arrogant, so let their spines be snapped.

I have hundreds of CDs, solar panels, books, ... I'll drown-out their screams with earplugs and art.

Prepping still isn't really mainstream in the UK. The term "survivalism" is a kind of pejorative used to describe the idea of wild eyed camouflage clad nutters, not ordinary citizens who have taken responsibility for their own wellbeing.

    Wisdom is not mainstream either.

I have been a subscriber of a British Bushcraft magazine for several years and find it to be a good magazine. It offers me different ways and views. They have problems that people in the US and especially people in Texas don't have to deal with. Their bushcraft information is top shelf and in some ways more realistic than some of the more out there survival stuff that you read in other magazines. It is somewhat more about the pleasures and good things that can be found in the wild rather than the more pugilistic methods of the American Survival movement that is so gun and weapon centered.

I think that in most of Great Brittian Lone Wolf is right. The majority will sit and die in the cities so the preppers have to focus on and figure out how to live without power and grocery stores and not freeze in the winter. They just have a different set of problems. I'm armed to the teeth but will have to deal with people that are also well-armed. My situation is not just a matter of sitting and quietly letting the world collapse. I WILL have to deal with people and not all of them are going to be nice and some of them are not going to survive meeting me.

Two weeks into Brexit , I thought getting an update on changes if any noted by the British people would be interesting , such as food prices and availability , automobile fuel prices or effects on the job market .

no change as such as we are now into the "transition" period , trying to agree a trade deal with the EU dosent even start until the beginning of March and they have until 31st December 2020 to do a deal, until then everything remains the same.
there may be some shortages in the shops but that's due to the weather-Storm Dennis- not Brexit.

Dennis sounds like a real monster. That isn't a normal storm at all.

it went on all day yesterday and it seems to be still here today, its supposed to calm down about mid afternoon but we will see, we seem to have got more wind and rain than normal this winter, I wonder if that means we will have drought conditions this summer?

Who knows. It is probably like Texas weather. We occasionally have a normal year or few months in between the years of drought and the years of floods. Great Brittian lives on the other end of the gulf stream that circles up from the hot equatorial waters. It keeps us both warmer in the winter than other places at the same latitude that are not as affected by it. that gives us an interesting set of weather patterns.

Well storm Dennis is supposed to be over but someone should have told Dennis that, I'm up in the hills and it's still raining (a steady 4"of rain each day) All this water has to drain to somewhere and it's the lowlands that are getting it worst. The rivers have been the highest I've seen in all my days.

Our storms drop rain measured in FEET. The last big one Harvy put nearly 5 feet down in some places but at LEAST our storms have the decency to come when it is warm!! I can't imagine wading floodwaters in the cold!!!!

I wouldn't like to be hit by rainfall measured in feet with the kind of topography that we have. The rainfall here falls over a wide range of low hills called the Cambrian range but then gets concentrated into the valleys where a river can go from being only a few inches deep to over 15 feet deep and taking in the flood plains either side.
If we got rainfall measured in feet then the lowland towns wouldn't have just been flooded, they would have been torn apart.
You also have to bear in mind that there is no tidal effect involved in our flooding as we are inland at a reasonable elevation, its just rainfall.

We usually get the worst of it in the Spring when the Winter snows melt. The flooding now is a little South of us, and is due to rainfall. We have had a very wet Winter, as well, but nothing near flood levels.

Feet of rain isn't good anywhere but at least when we get that it is warm. I can't imagine dealing with a winter hurricane!
