Dawn called me downstairs to watch the news this evening. She was very emotional after seeing the clip about the Italian neighborhood of people self-isolating in their apartments with the windows opening singing the country's national anthem together. She said that if got crazy enough, she would go to a hospital. Her RN license is expired (and anyway, it's from Arizona, not Idaho); but if things got really stupid, she would do what she could. She said that, in the final analysis, some things are more important than survival.

I'd rather be proud than ashamed.

I've already mentioned a major aspect of the American "problem" is the cartels, from the medical professions to the blue collar trades to the military to the ambulance chasers.

Virginia only recently made exceptions for out of state licensees of the various fields to practice during emergencies under certain conditions. The emergency exceptions involves retirees also. It is still a mess -no lead time to prepare by those in a neighboring state and et cetra.

I'm personally against the singing of songs, the candle vigils, the prayer sessions - even day-long mourning sessions. My view is an hour to reflect and contemplate the matter in one's own way and then action. Even the Italians in their apartment buildings can find important work to do in the building that helps address the pandemic situation.

 

Something about this thing is not right. There is something about this that big brother is not telling us and their actions are giving it away. The President of the United States meeting with corporate leaders and locking down borders, even considering locking down states within the United States from other states? When has that ever been done for any reason? NEVER! Making executive orders, Corporations giving up the almighty dollar to shut their doors. Disney closed, NBA closed, NHL closed. etc etc. Don't for one second think that this thing is not something bad and it is coming.
I work a few hours late at night for a company that delivers packages... I won't name it but it shouldn't be hard to figure out who it is. At 5am this morning I get a text message from then that says they are taking the health of their employees seriously and that we are of prime importance. It stated that if we are sneezing, coughing or running a temp or are in contact with anyone diagnosed with CoVid19 we are to remain home for two weeks. Now I have to tell you that the usual unspoken policy in this company is if you are sick...get your ass to work anyway.

Now here is another kicker.

Some patients who have recovered from the coronavirus have been left with a reduced lung capacity – and left gasping for air when walking briskly, according to a report.

The Hong Kong Hospital Authority announced the findings after studying the first wave of patients who had fully recovered from COVID-19, the South China Morning Post reported.

Three people have died of the illness in the former British colony, which has so far recorded 131 confirmed cases. Among them, 74 people have been discharged.

Dr. Owen Tsang Tak-yin, medical director of the authority’s Infectious Disease Centre at Princess Margaret Hospital in Kwai Chung, said that of about a dozen discharged patients examined, two or three were unable to function as they had previously.

“They gasp if they walk a bit more quickly,” Tsang told reporters Thursday, according to the news outlet. “Some patients might have around a drop of 20 to 30 percent in lung function [after recovery].”

Lung scans of nine infected patients at the hospital suggested they had suffered organ damage.

But Tsang said it had yet to be determined whether they would develop pulmonary fibrosis, a condition in which lung tissue hardened and the organ could not function correctly.

He added that patients can perform cardiovascular exercises to improve their lung capacity over time.

Coronavirus patients have been treated with Kaletra, a medication originally used for HIV/AIDS; hepatitis C drug Ribavirin; and interferon, according to the South China Morning Post.

I'm not exactly trusting of USA Today as a news organization. They have a political agenda, to be sure. However it is no stretch of the imagination to see that U.S. hospitals will not be able to handle any pandemic, even a semi-pandemic.

Old Geezer you mentioning the hospital thing , I will repeat an earlier thread I posted . My daughter does not work directly with a nearby hospital but does indirectly " received a memo Friday from the hospital " . The hospital doors are now locked except the emergency room door . There anyone wishing to enter regardless of their purpose or condition will have to go through a physical screening . Anyone with a fever or any Corona Virus symptom will be turned away .----- Now that should help keep the government's Corona Virus official numbers down . That plus the rich and connected receiving priority of a testing kit . If they ain't tested they ain't counted , " they died of the flu " .

 

I saw on the news this morning that a doctor stated pandemics last three months. This shit storm should be over by Summer. I don't think we need conspiracy theories and shit.

To not trust the government is patriotic, but common sense goes a long way. About a vaccine. It will be at least a year before one is created due to clinical trials. By the time one is developed the shit show will probably be over with until some idiot eats another god damn infected bat or snake in China and it starts all over again.

I've already posted my basic view that the coronavirus pandemic is being responded to also as the vehicle to accomplish what cannot be done in the gridlocked governmental power blocs.

Prior to Wuhan, it started with the 2 palace coup d' attempts against President Trump, the FICA frauds and then the impeachment.

President Trump is changing the US position in the global world order - some aspects are from a position of US power and some from a position of US weakness. The power is the US economic system and domestic marketplace. The weakness is the US military. The US is being expelled from the Middle East and WESTPAC.

The US medical response to the pandemic involves less of public health matters than the other major fields: finance, transportation, sheltering (includes getting food/household items delivered to store by trucks via maintained roads), public safety, fuel (WH announced with low world oil prices, the Strategic Petroleum Reserve will be "topped off" [Watch Russia and Saudi Arabia go into deep sweats; am guessing Iran might become a condominum owned by China and US).

Domestically, the artificial wealth transfers are being eliminated. The teachers' unions are taking a "hit" now. The public pension funds, eg CalPERS, NY State Pension Fund, could realistically see their recipients relocating to small apartments in the Camden-Trenton, N.J. corridor. Is it not obvious that some form of national health delivery care is buried in this pandemic response ? I take due note that retired - RETIRED - CDC Dir Frieden is (is allowed to) making national policy statements. WHO's Dir Gen Ted is allowed to do something similar.

Is there much significance that US stores are out of N-95 respirator masks ? It's not a sophisticated item to manufacture and distribute to stores. In December, the inventories were known and it was in December that CDC had a team in China. Medical expendables and durables are matters of routine audit and reporting.

The US domestic financial matters help both the pandemic response and the viability of the US population. Remember First Lady's Hillary quote" It's hard to threaten your creditor". Besides the pension funds, getting around negative interest rates means something like $3 trillion in money market funds evaporating away. Regardless, much of this wealth was transfer payments; not from productive economic activity.

The US pandemic response called "flatten the curve" means construction jobs pending for the construction industry. This land of abundance has wealth going to cruise ships and not medical and dental clinics. Trump is stopping this. Panic buying and violence in local area stores ? If the local political apparatus cannot rectify this: relocate ASAP. Avoid the Camden-Trenton, N.J. area.

Voting postponements: Here in my area, the voting is rigged. Thus, not important except for national elections which are monitored by outsiders.

I am not a scientist but consider the hope being pinned on summer heat killing the virus a desperate hope . This virus is a different animal and really is not the flu . For all we know it might increase with summer heat . Lets say for conversation the summer heat does kill back the virus . Next fall it will explode like we have never seen as it lurks wide spread ready to pounce once weather starts to cool back down . ---- Frankly at this point even if summer heat does have an effect on it civilization is crumbling and rolling down the hill heading toward s-it creek . --- Actually I find Pragmatist above post reasonable and would not find it hard to believe the globalist one world order people are behind this . If one believes the scientists that are pushed by the mainstream media on this subject I would guess it also is the same people who believe the scientists that are also pushed by the mainstream media on the global warming scenario. Personally, I do not trust anyone who's job relies on money gleaned from the outcome of their findings.

I also do not believe that this "virus" came from a bat when the area that this started in has at least two major laboratories that work with these types of infections. I also do not believe everything people are saying about how serious this infection is. Many are trying to downplay this as just another flu epidemic being hyped by the media.

The actions of Donald J. Trump tells me it is much more serious than they are acting like it is in order to quell the panic. I have only come to this conclusion in the recent couple of days if even that.

President Trump has changed his tune in the recent days concerning this event. At first he played it off as hype. In the last couple of days however it has become a much more serious event in his own statements and actions. Stopping travel in from other countries is a clue . Considering locking down certain states within the US is enormous in it's telling of the real dangers of this. This has never been done in the history of our country that I can think of or even mentioned as a consideration over anything in the past.

At this point my family is taking more and more precautions to remove outside contact. We already live in a remote area and are capable of locking ourselves down here for many many weeks with no outside contact. While I still work outside the property at two different jobs I have decided to drop one immediately as it is way too dangerous to keep at this point and already was becoming less and less of a viable employment position due to travel expense and time restraints not to mention wear and tear on vehicle and body. The second job is located very close to home and the employer has already made contingencies to pay all employees in the event of a lock down.

Captain Trips may be upon us. Be prepared just in case.

How does Dr Fauci obtain public safety protection when walking or driving in D.C., Maryland or N. Virginia ? LEOs and their support staff are currently at work. Others are at work clearing the blocked intersection crash. They are frequent enough.

A foot note: During the Paradise, California wild fires, a trashy Californian shot a rifle at a responding fire truck that woke him up or some similar pseudo-reason. He was sentenced for a misdemeanor with nominal punishment. Why so few volunteers like the "good old days" ?

 

I agree that the laws are ruining this country and stifling our chances of protecting the largess of the population. However I think what he has stated about locking down can happen on a smaller basis. Even on a really small basis such as your own family. People will do what has to be done when push comes to shove regardless of what government says. Hopefully when push comes to shove it won't be too late for some of us. I think this guy Fauci is used because he can explain these issues in laymans terms that everyone can understand.
Sending kids home from school is a great idea as long as the moms and dads don't simply push them outside to go play with each other like a snow day. That will defeat the whole purpose. Most parents cant stand having their own kids around them for long periods of time.

 

On the back end - I noticed many of the stores that are large still have ample shelf supply in their back stock rooms. A lot of this panic is supply/demand created by the stores themselves. I also noticed the price tag changes on those empty shelves out front - $1 more than they were last week!

 

On the bright side ...

What if this turns out to be a nasty pandemic, but no fire and brimstone pandemic -- end result being lot's of deaths among older people and hospitals depleted of resources. I doubt that front loaders will be scooping bodies off the streets and dumping tens of millions into mass graves; nope, just doesn't sound like it to me.

What this scenario could do is point out that preparedness is priceless. Maybe people who were on the fence about prepping will actually begin to get their sh## together for when a REAL apocalyptic event occurs. The sheeple of course are incapable of being awakened. They will blame the government and call for a Socialist Utopia. They want to drink the Kool-Aid. They are the ones who drop their drawers and bend over for Big Brother. Can't fix that.

Me, I think that the largest impact on Earth's population will be economic. World economies are fragile right now. There is a mighty war going on to replace the U.S. dollar with some other currency. Russia, a gold producer, is buying gold. That is downright crazy behavior, unless they are on an economic war-footing to utterly trash the US dollar. China is using its navy to push south to take the South China Sea and further yet so as to be able to drill the ocean bottom for oil and to cut off U.S. oil shipments.

I've heard about the Wuhan lab safety failure.

Still, with the Prepper philosophy I use it doesn't matter.

I use common denominators. Whether a lab failure - too much lab safety can never be enough - or the Wuhan wildlife market. ..... Beijing made some new laws closing down much of this wildlife dining practice......the Prepper is obliged to deal with the results of the origin / cause. The results are the same: maintain health, hygiene, keep stockpiles of food, water, med supplies and et cetra.

Even if the US is terrorist-attacked using germ warfare, we're dealing with the same Prepper material - both knowledge and goods/services.

I have more immediate bio concerns with the homeless living in the streets of our cities than Chinese research labs or their soon to close wildlife markets.

I believe me and mine have already had coronavirus. Contracted it either in Honolulu, HI international airport or the flight back to the USA. Had the high fever, difficulty breathing, body aches but didn't realize what we had at the time. I actually thought it would be worse given the press and fear. I was concerned with the hundreds of Chinese in the airport that day but didn't think about it when sick.

Just not sure if we had it or not.

I think that what we are seeing is simply that we have been preparing for and sort of expecting something that would kill at least 90% of the population of the civilized world. When you compare the coronavirus with at worst a 3% mortality rate among healthy adults and only a 15% mortality rate in people over the age of 85 this just isn't very impressive or frightening.

In the world of the hardcore preppers/survivalists this is like the kiddie rides at the fair and not the big stuff.

So, I'm seeing discussions of universal income which would comprise $1000 per month for every adult and $500 per month for every child. I would guess this would be a digital currency deposited into an account or put on a card? If we are all locked down and made to stay indoors then I would assume we would have to pay for things online right?
Also talk of shutting down all non essential businesses. Government bailing out all major corporations with subsidies. universal healthcare being discussed too all under the guise of fighting Covid-19.
What isn't globalist about all of that?
Why would Donald Trump be going right along with that plan?
So lets say they implement all of that in the next few weeks. How will the people react?

 

The only thing I've heard about a universal income was Yang's suggestion couple of months ago. You notice that he dropped out of the presidential race. I doubt that either the House or the Senate would even consider such a crackpot idea, and I doubt if Trump would sign such a bill into law, unless he thought it might get him more votes from his base. (Perhaps you're thinking about Mitt Romney's idea of a ONE-TIME payment for a thousand bucks per American.)

As far as a single-payer healthcare plan is concerned, I suppose (especially if COVID-9 becomes much more serious) it could happen within five or ten years, but it'd be tough surviving the attacks of the insurance, legal, and medical lobbies.

Globalist? I suppose you could call it that; after all, just about every country in the globe has such a healthcare policy (except for us). But I doubt if we'll see anything like that anytime soon!

 

We will see. Sure seems like something is afoot. I could see world wide martial law being implemented on some levels. How far off is "shelter in place" from "you must remain in your homes"?

I forgot the specifics but do remember a film at "Colonial Williamsburg" Virginia's historical center, that the locals brewed "grog" - some form of beer.

 

If you remember back during the hunt for the Tsarnarev brothers after their little pressure cooker bombing residents were ordered into their homes while house to house searches took place. The people conformed. That wasn't Constitutional either. I can't help but wonder how much of all of this is testing to see how far the powers that be can push us or how much we will conform to their wishes without insurrection.

 

I have a family member living in the Pacific North West near Lebanon Oregon. He said he has heard rumors they are going to be locked down for at least 2 weeks. Said he came home from work to see National Guard setting up a compound or as he described it as "building a small city" there. He is in process of loading the family and all their gear and heading for locations he camps at in the Cascade range before lock down takes place. I will touch base with him at times when he comes down far enough out of the mountains to get a cell signal.

 

Just remember that the government has no power over you, only God.
