Noticed something a bit odd and different on Breitbart News today when surfing for news.

And that was a significant number of ads for Communications two way radio equipment.

I'd not noticed this until today....but they have always had a significant number of ads on Breitbart as well as other web news sites...

It is just that today I noticed a significant change in the ads in that they were for two way communications radios.

Any of you members noticing this change in the ads in your web travels????

Breitbart, like other sites, gathers information from your searches. Even if a website itself does not track, trackers track you. If you search for hand tools or have been searching for tool-shop info, then Poof!, you'll start seeing more ads that promote products in that market line.

For Christmas last year I searched the web for wool full-length sweaters for my wife. I ended-up buying her a couple plus a huge wool scarf ... but at a brick'n'mortar . Pretty, pretty. Since then, I've been getting ads for all manner of women's clothing. OK, so I'm no vogue dance queen in the back-ally bars on Saturday nights. (If I do, I'd never tell -- oh god, what an ugly woman I'd make!)

Watcherchris, you simply could have been looking at radio equipment. Advertisers profile you and change the ads targeting your interests on no-matter which site it is to which you go ... even the news.

What do you think? Am I showing too much cleavage?

    Olde Geezer,

I have indeed been looking at radio equipment across the band and on different sites.

Someone on another site just explained that to me as well. I was not aware of it. Thanks for the update.

And this sort of crap really, really makes me angry. With a peeping-Tom, you can throw something through your window and cave-in the interloper's cranium. With internet intruders, I don't know whose knees I need to break. I'm not Catholic, so I don't know if my prayers to Saint Michael would be answered were I to ask him to visit these marketing marauders and realign their worldly priorities.

What are these things called Ads?

And two-way radios? Got plenty of those. 6 MURS radios and 10 Nextel i355 cellphones that have a direct talk feature acting like a secure two-way radio minus the needed cell tower. They use the 900 MHz band, VSLEP modulation and FHSS. Most commonly called iden.

I have a couple cheap Chinese radios that can transmit on the Ham band if in an emergency. Many years ago while I was in high school I tried to get my novice and technician ticket but failed. LOL Turns out I studied a book that was far too old. Never tried again after all these years. Just been more into police scanners and what not. I'm thinking of at least getting a GMRS license since there are many GMRS repeaters around here where I live in Colorado.
