And yet we have so many Americans who blindly support the government and claim that we are a "free" nation. No nation is truly free. And that cop had the audacity to say that the pastor was hiding behind the first amendment. Everything they do is backed with the threat of force. If you don't comply with their silly laws they'll send armed thugs to come throw you in a cage. If you resist they'll either kill, injure, or beat you into submission. Of course the pastor turned himself in, but I'm referring to several other accounts of the police just "doing their jobs." Just like Hitler had his Nazi soldiers to commit genocide, the American government has cops that will do as they say no matter how immoral. Just wait. We are already in a police state. America is half socialist already and moving further towards government takeover each day. Let people gather if they want! The government is restricting the freedom of movement here! And for those who support law enforcement, answer me this: who's going to come kick down your door and take your guns when the politicians tell them to?
We the Government! Land of the Subjects! Home of the Police Enforcers!

This will be headed to the U.S. Supreme Court. Several constitutional laws are being violated. The church and pastor will prevail on the constitutional grounds. BUT that does not limit the financial repercussions that the Pastor and the Church could face. They DO have the right to assemble and to practice their faith but they are can also be held financially liable if anybody, not a member of this church, is infected by a member of this church who became infected after attending these services. Common sense should prevail, not armed law enforcement. There are many ways to enforce the lock down without arresting the Pastor. Example: Have the parking / meter patrol issue tickets on every vehicle parked at the church. Stop people exiting the church and issue tickets, the delay alone would cause many to not attend again. Yes, the tickets still are designed to deter people from attending the church but the tickets are for violating city. county / state ordinances NOT for holding a a church service. A very fine line but still a distinction. JM2C

We have a preacher and a congregation with little common sense. This is the perfect test tube to answer the question, God or Darwin?

If it would just be confined to the members, I would say go for it. Darwin will win out. But they will also mingle with everybody else. While I respect and support their constitutional right, they are just stupid beyond belief.

They can all go straight from the church to the grocery store and nobody blinks. I went to a funeral before the first diagnosis and they had it taped off so as to keep people separate. It sounds as if this church might have done something similar. Would I have gone? Not once it was detected in my county. Do I think these people are idiots? Yep! Do I think the government has the right to shut down a church? Nope! Did they shut down a mosque? Come to think of it a hijab isn't such a bad idea after all.

Tickets are just revenue slips for the government.

Freedom of religion doesn't exclude you from following laws. You can't do human sacrifices either. There are all sorts of things that religions are not allowed to do that are legitimately a part of their faith. Freedom of speech doesn't mean that you can threaten someone or scream FIRE!! in a theater. This idiot put his entire congregation at risk and as they go out to share with others that didn't do anything stupid. In my opinion, if any of those people come down with this stupid virus they got what they deserve for being stupid and the preacher should be tried for reckless endangerment and then negligent homicide if there are deaths and if kids catch it and die maybe just plain murder.

I'm not a big fan of the government but this is criminal stupidity.

    Freedoms have responsibilities.

You have the freedom of religion to go to church. You have the responsibility to let healthcare workers know where you have been so that contagion-tracking can occur; the health department is like having a military defense force. There are some social regulations in the Constitution (ex. declaration of war).

Under your freedom of speech liberties, you can say, "I trusted in the Lord by going to church, so I will trust in the Lord to deliver me from this covid19 thing."

The people chose to come to service....pastors cannot force their members to attend.

I think some of you members here are about as dumb as this preacher and his congregation....

While I understand the lockdown....I am very very concerned that after the emergency is over......that conditions are not allowed at the hands of government to return back to what they were..

I think that many of you do not know the track record of governments ...historically.

But I would be willing to bet if I asked you about ESPN....many of you would be full of facts.

Some of you need to be thinking about history and this further down the line....

Freedom of religion, peaceable assembly, speech...redress of grievances.

Any of you know without looking it up ..what is in the other 9 Amendments???

    Amendment 3...9 and 10...

The history I know is that when governments too often get power and particularly to handle an emergency...they are reluctant to give it up or back when the emergency is over...and history is replete with this occurrence.

This kind of thing cost Abraham Lincoln his life and put us under "Colorable Government." The Colour of Law...not The Law."

Be very careful about this lockdown..and what it portends..

I am no fan of Abraham Lincoln as he was a murderous tyrant, however I'll agree on everything else. Most people only care about what entertains them rather than what benefits them.

Emergency situations and emergency powers are very slippery slopes. In the rush to protect yourself from others, be sure to also Guard your and their constitutional liberties.

Personal freedom includes the freedom to be wrong. I'm fat but the government shouldn't tell me what to eat. Everybody does things that are stupid and dangerous. You can't make everything illegal. Stupid is not a crime. Sometimes we feel like it should be but we loose too much if we go down that road.

I was born with a mother (such as she was) but I don't need a Nanny State to tell me how to think or act. As there appears to not be cure for stupid, then we just have to accept these people exist,

Sheeple must be led and controlled or they would make this world an unimaginably corrupted hole impossible to live in.

As far as the people that went to that church I would agree that if they wanted to drink cyanide-laced Koolaid that would be their right. What is not their right to go in and then bring the poison out to give to other unsuspecting people. Theoretically in the areas where there are a large number of known infected people a normally intelligent person would try to avoid close contact with crowds of people. Unfortunately nearly half of the population seems to be unable to act as sane and intelligent people. The pastor is their leader and as a leader he has a greater responsibility for his and their actions.

The idiot sheeple are going to die way out of proportion to their percentage of the population but they are going to infect and kill a lot of innocent people. In another topic we have discussed the similarity between maps of where the virus is most concentrated and the maps of sanctuary cities and places that vote for Clinton. If it were allowed they will spread their illness to us all.

Google is the worst. I went back to firefox because of that and that I got emails based on my internet actions too. Firefox is doing it too but not in the same way. The Adblocker that you recommended works well too.

Try Opera and turn on the free provided VPN. Between the adblocker ,Opera and the VPN I get no emails based on any sites I visit. Note: some USA based sites will not allow you in, when the VPN is turned on, your choice when to turn it off.

Governments are made up of people that lust for power and control over other peoples lives. As with any other lust, once it's sated the first time, the desire for more increases and inhibitions for how it's obtained wane.

I wish every US citizen could see and smell what happens when a "government" decides it knows best. I can't forget it.

Well, I guess that's a thing. I have found so much more disagreeable on this old world. That picture of Cambodia is not mine, but I did walk through valleys where the bones of thousands lay. I can't forget that sound. Bones cracking and popping under my feet in the dark. Before we covered over with ponchos and turned on a flashlight to see what we were on.

    Not something you can forget.

I found it disagreeable the times when I was ordered to stand down, stand bye and continue mission after seeing murders, rapes and mans, inhumanity towards man. I have to live with those memories. The cost of being a soldier.

As a soldier, I also observed a curve to the horizon when stepping out of a plane at 36,000 feet with the sun going down. It was beautiful.

I'll quit whining now. Sorry about that.
