Correct. It really isn't. When I shoot these panoramics I take a large number of images at one light setting all the way around in a circle overlapping each image slightly. Then all the images are stitched together to make one long image. If a person moves a bit in one image and is also in the next image in a different position it creates a ghostly image of them. This scene was made using probably close to 30 images stitched together to make one long pic. I then cut it into 3 sections because of the viewer that they were used in on the web called for it.

Oh wow! What absolutely brilliant photos! Thanks so much for sharing. Please post more! Unfortunately though I wasn't able to see any of the photos from your cabin onwards. :( Would have loved to have seen the bear!

The photos of the planes are wonderful. My husband loved anything military and used to make WWII models of planes. He hung them from the ceiling with fishing wire. Looked amazing.

Geez, you're good with a camera! So how do the Bison go against wolves? I presume the wolves attack in packs? Do the Bison defend in packs?

    1. Dalewick
A pair of wolves can take down full grown cows, young bulls and calves. Even a lone wolf can take down younger bison. It usually takes a small pack at least to successfully hunt full grown bulls. The wolves panic the herd to get them to run. If they stand there ground, the wolves can take them. If they run, the wolves pick their target and work at ham stringing it as well as disemboweling it. When they can safely get the throat and/or nose they finish the animal by suffocation. Often they are feeding on the bison, and other prey before they are dead and the prey goes into shock and that is often what kills it. Wolf depredation is a complex interaction dealing as much with their prey species as with the wolves. This is a simplification of how wolves hunt bison.

Great photos! Thanks F22. Love Salem. Beautiful cat, you don't see many that are pure black. The snow on the tree looks amazing.

Just out of interest, what sort of heating do Americans use in their houses generally? It seems to get really, really cold over there.

Mostly a common natural gas burning furnace. Though, the older houses and what have you also have fireplaces, but it's the natural gas burning furnaces that everyone uses.

I guess out east like New York, New Jersey or Maine, etc they use heating oil and oil burning furnaces. In places like no man's land North Dakota where I lived and have family they have furnaces, but are using propane from a giant propane tank that sits in the yard. About once a month or so the propane truck shows up to top your tank off.

In the newer homes you often don't see fireplaces that burn wood. The fire in this faux fireplace is actually created with natural gas. LOL It's more or less for looks. LOL

Fun fact: The U.S. is the world's largest producer of natural gas.

Fun fact #2: Since natural gas comes from under the ground it can carry with it radioactivity. So the natural gas processing plants strip all the bad chemicals away and radioactivity. In fact, a natural gas processing plant's pipes are very radioactive from all the raw natural gas being piped in.

I personally think the natural gas powered hybrid car is the wave of the future. NG is cheap and it's half as pollutant as normal petrol gas. Massive amounts of electric cars will put more and more strain on an already fragile electric grid and they are not clean when you mostly have to burn coal to charge the damn things. In the U.S., coal is the chief fuel for power stations.

Here in northern Colorado along the foothills of the Rocky Mountains it can drop to about -17C in January. When I lived in North Dakota the temperature on average during the winter was at least -34C. And that's without the windchill factor. LOL

You can take boiling water in a kettle and toss it outside and it will rain snow in an instant. Science has yet to understand why boiling water freezes so rapidly. I also saw it done on YouTube in Russia. They tossed boiling water out of a five story apartment window complex and it rained snow in an instant.

Holy moly. That's really, really cold. I don't know why on earth I'm whingeing at 9 degree temperatures overnight!

I do remember many, many years ago when I lived in the UK the snow was awful. One year in particular, it was -18 and there were warnings regarding breathing in the cold air. It used to take me a good 10 minutes getting geared up to ride my motorcycle to work. Can't imagine how I'd cope with those sort of temperatures now that I'm so much older.

Oh, it's 7 right now and it was 25 today during the day if you can believe it. Colorado is a very odd state when it comes to weather and temps. Up in the Rocky Mountains it is said there are only two seasons: Winter and Summer. And even in July (our Summer month) it can snow. I've never seen it, but my dad has back in the 70s when he'd come out here to hunt. The Rocky Mountains are as tall as the runways are as long at Denver International airport with an elevation of about 4,600 meters on average. Also, the snow pack on the sides of the roads up there are at least 9 meters tall. I remember going up there I didn't have sunglasses and got snow blind. My eyes were all watery and I could barley see. I'll never, ever do that again. Snow is very bright!

Just last week we got a thin layer of snow, and the day before that it was about 21. The saying here is something like, if you don't like the weather today, wait till tomorrow.

And yeah, I'm wearing my light jacket when I go onto the patio tonight with temps of 7. That's pretty warm by my standards. LOL

What bizarre weather you have! I can't believe it was snowing last week a day after 21 degrees!

It's around 13 degrees here at the moment, which to me is absolutely freezing, especially with the wind factor. Needless to say, I've got the fire going.

What part of Oz do you live in? I imagine the Northern Territory is a lot warmer. I know because I flew there in the Sim to Alice Springs and it was extremely hot. The weather and landscape there reminded me of Las Vegas or California's death valley. Although, I think it's more red there in the Northern Territory. Like red sand or something. In California, Las Vegas, parts of Utah, New Mexico and Arizona it's yellow sand. Been to all those states except New Mexico. There is a TON of dessert out there let me tell you. Actually, all the way to Grand Junction, Colorado and then finally you hit the Rocky Mountains and see green. LOL

I live in northern New South Wales. If you Google Earth Billys Creek, NSW, it will give you a better idea.

Tourists flock to the area for the various falls:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dorri...:Dangar_Falls_Dorrigo-retouched-by-karstn.jpg

I'm not a fan of Queensland/Northern Territory weather. Yes, it is too hot. Queensland is very humid, with a lot of rain and general flooding each year, depending on the area of course. I can't stand the level of humidity, it seems to sap your energy and makes it very difficult to do anything. They say you get used to it, which I suppose you do with just about anything but I certainly don't choose to live under those conditions.

Surprisingly where I am it doesn't get really hot, it doesn't get really cold either - which is how I like it. I used to live in Tasmania which is extremely cold. Summers there are very fleeting. After the death of my husband I moved here from an area called the Southern Highlands about an hour drive from Sydney. It was very hot in summer and cold in winter, though we didn't get snow. My ex next door neighbour who is a fire fighter with the Rural Fire Service battled the fires down there on a few days over summer when it reached 47 degrees. Way too hot under any circumstances, let alone donning all the gear they have to wear to battle fires.

We have a lot of red earth here too.

I've never been to America. Would love to have gone - my husband desperately wanted to go and even contemplated buying property over there at one point.
