I don't see the link between torture and a pandemic.

I agree, Lonewolf. This one has me scratching my head. I see no correlation between torture, in this case political upheaval, and pandemic.

" Now that we are all in the grip of fear and uncertainty about the future"

What do you all think? Anybody out there in the grip of fear and uncertainty? I for one am not. Annoyed? Yes. Angry? Yes. Fearful and uncertain? Nowhere close.

Yes, I tend to agree with you lonewolf and Morgan. I'm certainly not fearful or uncertain. I'm not even angry or annoyed. I'm more "shit happens". People I know aren't fearful or uncertain either.

I guess though there must be a percentage who are. The reference to resilience and inner determination and fortitude (or whatever it said) are character strengths that a lot of people don't possess when they are confronted with something that has changed in their lives. I think people (in general) don't cope well when they lose control of something in their lives and in that sense, I can see a link that would be relevant. Whether it be from torture or a pandemic, if people have no control over the future, that could cause people to be fearful and uncertain about what the future holds. It becomes more relevant when you think of the majority of people who have been comfortable in their lives, with no real threat to their security or stability and then suddenly that is threatened and their lives are changed and there is nothing they can do to reverse the situation.

    Good morning Lonewolf and Morgan,

    From the linked article;

"able to make some sense of my surroundings"; for the Prepper: terrain intelligence - situational awareness.

"...... for most it is probably an opportunity to reflect on what helped them get through trauma"; for the Prepper: lessons learned, knowledge

"wash his shirt every fifteen days"; for the Prepper: maintaining human habits; hygiene for COVID defeat.

One of the best corporate courses I ever took was about the psychological analysis of a 1975 railroad hijacking enroute to Amsterdam. Some Molucca independence group from Indonesia hijacked the train. One of those held hostage was a Dutch newspaper editor who was a knowledgeable person who provided such an excellent briefing to police authorities that it became a "study".

The subjects of terror / hijackings and the related are eg:

    - The meaning of stress

    - Coping with victimization

    - The effects of captivity

    - The "Stockholm syndrome"

Me three. We have been inundated with this reporting for months. No other news gets reported. That is where the anger and annoyance come in. That plus the lost revenue due to lockdowns which is significant.

I guess I just consider my self mentally much tougher than that.

I'm sure there would be stress, but nothing unmanageable

I have never considered myself a victim of anything.

I was only in captivity once, and that was a prank. The Stockholm Syndrome? Not a chance. I would only be thinking of revenge, and what I would do to the people who perpetrated this upon me.

Had the COVID-19 and have been through "advanced interrogation" and I see NO correlation between the two. For me the author is grasping at straws for an article. Seems like a "look at me, look at me" kind of article than an actual transfer of information on either COVID-19 or torture.

    Not a fan.

Click bait at best, reaching out to sheep. Like most here, tired of the China flu news. The only real effect it has had on me is the U.S. Mail is more screwed up than usual. Three trips to the post office to retrieve mail that was not delivered. These packages were for the wife. I have started telling all my online sellers to only use UPS or FEDEX. I just tell them the U.S. Mail does not deliver to me.

Australia is the same with the post. I went in yesterday to pick up some parcels which took 2 weeks to arrive. The bloke in the post office whinged for 5 minutes about all the parcels he has to process. He reckons it's worse than Christmas. (Cry me a river, why don't you). I posted something to another state, he reckons it may not get there for 3 weeks! Seriously?

Due to my age and the medications I take, I am at risk for rather negative consequences should I contract this c19. So, people like myself should be taking extra precautions and my employer should take my situation into account during such an epidemic. But that's my wife and I. The rest of the population, especially those in robust health, should not let this shut down their lives nor shut down the industry of a nation.

That this covid-19 is a weaponized virus released by communist China should arouse the attention of our health care systems and our national military.

I've been told I may have it. I have to drive over an hour tomorrow to get tested, after a consult with the doctor this morning. He said if I get any worse I have to go to hospital. I told him that wasn't going to happen and to get nicked. He's prescribed 5 different medications I have to take. I'm not allowed to pick them up from the chemist so have to get the postie to pick them up from the chemist and deliver them to the letterboxes on the main road, which I won't get until tomorrow. Geez, what a panic merchant! I'm as strong as a Mallee bull and have no intention of carking it just yet. Who on earth would take on Devil Dog? Hahahahaha!

Oh, but if I suddently disappear from the forum, you'll know why. Either that or I've been kidnapped by aliens who want to do experiments on me ...

      Hahahahahahaha!

    Good morning Dale,

The web article was not the best written document in history but it contains subjects taught in all KHI-required classes for kidnapping and hostage insurance.

Holocaust survivor stories and memoirs are featured.

The COVID quarantines mean changed routines. Shopping at a grocery store without the usual sharia-compliant foods can be a danger for those on alert. Experienced this at a shelter without the red bag MRE sharia-OK foods. Lethal danger was involved.

Recommend: VICTIMS OF TERRORISM, Ochberg, Soskis, editors, Westview Special Studies in National and International Terrorism.

The "heavy" stuff doesn't even show up on the deep web.

I know a lot of people that are having a hard time with being isolated. Most of us here are not exactly the most social people in the world so for us this is no strain or problem. If you are a person without any personal ability to entertain or motivate yourself then this IS a torturous experience. This is why you are beginning to see problems that are often racially based or age-based. Teenage kids and even young adults often have little ability to deal with being alone. For them, this social distancing and stay at home and don't associate with their friends IS truly torture. If it continues expect to see increasing levels of unprovoked violence and irrational behavior.

I was only just noticing this in our local news. There's been a lot more violence than usual. Both domestic violence but also youth violence - senseless, stupid stuff. Also more drug related violence, such as morons on meth going on psychotic rampages.

We are creating weak people with our current system. Kids are coddled and allowed to say and do whatever they want and we are told to let them so as not to bruise their little egos. The thing is that SELFdiscipline starts with discipline. That means that when you are little you have to learn that there are consequences for your actions. These kids now grow up thinking that they are SOMEBODY important. When they go out into the cold cruel world they find out that they are nobody and your boss isn't interested in your opinion and life is NOT fair. In the end they can't deal and act like children and throw tantrums. It is hell to find out when you are in your 20s that NO means NO and that you either do as you are told or else. We are going to see a lot of tantrums in the near future.

there seems to be a lot of people in the UK who have some form of "cabin fever", they are either lonely or depressed or sometime both and its only been 7 weeks, people are splitting up and divorcing because they cant stand being together? makes me wonder why they got together in the first place. I think there is going to be a lot of mental problems once we come out of lockdown.
dosent bother me, I cant stand people at the best of times.

I don't understand why people are having so many issues with lockdowns. When people have to work they do nothing but whinge about wanting more holidays and time off, but when they are forced not to work, they bitch and moan that they are bored. Like, really???? Get a grip people. FFS. Do all the shit you constantly whinged that you never had time to do at home because you were working. It's not that freaking hard. Make the most of it, adapt, overcome. Just stop the F whingeing.

I prefer animals to people, hands down, any day of the week. There are very few people I would consider worthwhile, including myself at times, if I'm honest.

I spend a lot of time at home, a lot of it on my own, I've never been much of a "social" person due to my upbringing, I prefer animals and nature to people, modern people are so boring and introspective, I couldn't really care if they all disappeared of the face of the planet, I always planned to be "last man standing" anyway and that's why I prep.

South African torture murders, there's a lesson here. Criminals are not just shooting / stabbing people any more, they are torturing and raping. It's not just that you will be shot by intruders, it's that you will be tortured and your family raped to death. Overt madness is enveloping the planet and the media actively covers-up the savagery. It is VERY difficult to find the truth of this savagery on the web. The web is being cleansed by Leftist operatives. If truth is published, the Left lands on the person reporting with their jackboots and permanently labels them "racists" and "enemies of the collective good".

"What’s more, the attacks on white farmers in South Africa tend to have pitched levels of brutality about them. Without getting too lost in the weeds of the grizzly details, it’s worth mentioning some of the more grotesque attacks on farmers at least in passing:
"In 2012, a 12-year-old boy was drowned in boiling water after watching both his parents murdered and his mother raped.
"A 56-year-old grandmother was gang raped during a robbery netting approximately $2,000.
"Five men sexually assaulted a woman in front of her 5-year-old son over the course of an hour and a half.
"Over the course of six hours, a woman was tortured by having her skin cut off, raped and had her feet power drilled.
"A 66-year-old man was beaten to death in front of his wife. She escaped being gang raped by saying that she had HIV.
"Bedridden Alice Lotter, 76, and her daughter Helen, 57 were tortured to death over several hours, including by being stabbed in the genitals with a broken glass bottle. One had one of her breasts removed while still alive. “Kill the Boer” was painted on the wall in their blood.
"Knowledge Mandlazi went on a killing spree in 2014, murdering five whites and stating that 'My hate for white people made me rob and kill.' He held up his middle finger to surviving victims in the courtroom."

    Good afternoon Old Geezer,

I read the first 3 links to include BBC. I like BBC because its easy to load.

I'm in that sliver of a political bloc that holds to the barbarians are always the barbarians. They were and always will be present. It requires a political apparatus with a security component for civilization to exist, let alone thrive.

If the descendants of the Dutch, British and other earlier era settlers cannot arrange for a political solution, there are only 2 options: 1. evacuate or 2. conflict.

I remember when RSA was the continent's second richest country, next to Rhodesia.

The US has an interest in Simontown and Walvis Bay as an alternate route to the Suez Canal.

I vaguely recall an Israeli presence in the "old" RSA and that "double flash" in a remote section of the Indian Ocean. probably making hot potato pancakes. Carter administration caused the abandonment of RSA ? I don't remember.

OG, You know this kind of evil is anything but new. Rhodesia, Burma, Vietnam, Cambodia, Columbia, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Just to name a few from my life time. The world doesn't want to see the evil that exist in the world. If they admit it exist, they may feel some responsibility for getting involved and stopping it. Our political entities know this evil exist and choose to ignore it.

imagine watching a small village where bad men walk in and start beating anyone that resist. These men take whatever they want. They punish anyone that acts educated or have any books. Imagine watching one of these men seeing a small child with an American children's book. He walks over to the child screaming and then beating on the child. The child's mother runs toward him but is knocked out with the butt of a weapon by on of the bad men. The screaming man takes the child and grabs him by the ankles and swings him as hard as he can. Smashing the child's head into a tree. The child is dead. The men take the mother and start gang rapping her in front of the village. Then they start rapping her with the barrels of there guns. The brake all of her bones with there rifles while stabbing her with knives and machetes. Somewhere during all of this, she dies.

Now imagine that while having to watch all of this you have radioed for permission to kill these bad men. Not just once, but 3 times. Every time your government tells you to "stand down", "permission denied", stand down".

Now imagine sleeping with that the rest of your life. That's when you know what your government is really made of.

It makes you want to go private "industry", doesn't it. Did you? Hope you did.

Praise the Lord that I was raised to consider government the pack of hyenas they are. I was taught to pay off the inferiors who work in government because they seem to always be able to buy meaner goons than you yourself can come up with. The "do-gooders" enable Satan. The vile "do-gooders" convince the sheeple that the taxed money of their labors goes to "help the children". They will burn eternally for this sin.

Me, I've always worked for money. Problem is, life then rapes your soul. The more you care, the more you suffer.

More and more folk are becoming enraged at their "do-gooder" governments. Seeing armed citizens on the steps of corrupt state-houses gives me a glimmer of hope here in this time before my death. I just wish they had sniper rifles instead of AR-15s (I guess maybe that AR-15s and AKs can be used in defense against gangs invading civilized neighborhoods; take cover, take aim, return the inferiors to hell). In a guerilla civil war, hunting rifles actually can pass for acceptable "reach out and touch someone" instruments of serious communications. I always recommend such rifles. I always recommend that new owners get out to the range and keep their toys sighted-in.

Sure, always been around. Usually it happened "over there."

The men of my family belonged to those who were vigilant. If savagery started showing up where it shouldn't show up, things were taken care of.

Not happening now in what should be civilized countries. The intolerable is becoming tolerated.

Maybe if governments went broke, real men could go about the business of taking out the trash.

Nope. I was an idiot. Medically discharged when I got shot the second time (Ballistic vest took the 3 rounds from the first time.) and then stupid enough to think I could "change things" from the civilian side. It's so corrupt. There will be no change. At least, not until the blood flows. Just my opinion.

As I have touched on in the past I lived in South Africa for many years. We left in 2018. While there we always lived rural as I hate cities. We were well aware of the dangers of being on farms though. We had so many plans and procedures in case we got invaded, yes we called it invaded. A lot of what you read when looking up what to do during hijacking or home invasion says be cooperative, don't be aggressive etc. F@#k that. Excuse my language. But cooperation so they can tie you up and take an iron to your face or a drill to your knees sounded like a bad idea.

I had zero interest in murder by rape and torture. The last resort if all plans had failed and we became cornered with no escape, was to fight as hard, fast and deadly as possible. There were to be only two possible outcomes. We would kill or chase off the invaders. Or pose such a threat they would be forced to kill us immediately. We even agreed that a gun held to one of our heads was not a reason for the other to stop fighting. Death before torture and rape. There was not a room in our house I didn't have multiple types of weapons hidden.

I am thankful every single day we were never put to the test. I knew people who were. Some survived. Some did not.

I say all this because it helped shape my prepping and survival views. And how I look at a WROL situation. And something others should perhaps think about no matter how unpleasant the thought. Humans can be unbelievably cruel.

    1. Dalewick
That, in my opinion, is the ONLY attitude to have when facing an aggressor. Evil people only do evil.

"Humans can be unbelievably cruel." Humans sure can be cruel. The type of sick violence being committed all across Africa however is not being committed by humans. These two legged things are not human. Something can look human, but that doesn't mean it is human.

Rebecca, I cannot express my sorrow that you guys suffered under such an atmosphere of horrors. Nor can I express my happiness that you guys are away from that place.

Just recently a madman went on a killing spree there in Eastern Canada (Nova Scotia). Thank God that that is so rare in North America. Hotdog suffocation kills over 75 children every year; here in the States, bicycles kill 700 - 800 people per year -- far higher death rates than caused by mass-shooters. We do not fear hotdogs, nor bicycles, why fear the loonies? I hope that the mega-rare shooting up where you live did not bring back dark memories of Africa. Besides, you guys are armed and could have fought back if some loony-toon tried to do harm to you! I kept some I-don't-know-what kind of aggressor out of our house one night. I shooed it off with shotgun in hand. It went away.

So, Rebecca feel safe! Be happy! Hope you already are. I hope my wishing you happiness is redundant on my part! Understand that I'm just a worry-wart old grandpa.

That you are prepping brings even more security to your life. Think about this, all of our ancestors were preppers! They always put food back, prepared for terrible weather, had firearms for game and protection. They were NOT paranoid. I bet that oft times they were much happier than we are today even though their circumstances were much more difficult given the eras in which they lived (my grandparents were born just before and just after the year 1900; trust me, I know all their stories).

We are them. We should be happy so as to make our ancestors happy in the next life.

Fresh-starts happen all the time. Life is a series of new beginnings. And quite frankly, even death brings a new beginning. Say prayers for yourselves and others; this will result in your living eternally. Prayers are the putting down of roots. The Gardener starts His seedlings in tiny little germination pots. When the plants become robust, He moves them to the Greater Garden. Put down your roots. Turn to the Light.

I wish you and your mate all the happiness life has to offer!
