A packet of glucose is an indispensable item in the wild. You might find yourself in contingencies like an attack by a pack of wild dogs or criminals and you would have to think on your feet. Also walking for long distances will leave you exhausted. Its also valuable if you run short of food.
I agree that a pack of glucose is useful (my gym teacher during high school alway suggested also a bar of chocolate to mantain energy) but how would it help in the situations you described?
