Some of our ancestors fit in a whole lot of living in a short time. Take Cecil Rhodes for instance, created Rhodesia and he passed at 48 year old. Then there's Alexander the great, conquered most of the known world and he passed if memory serves in his late 30s..

of course life expectancies and all that figure in.

Years ago I was in an very old country store near Woodville Mississippi . It was set up as also having many interesting historical facts about Woodville in a museum type setting . In it was an old yellowing newspaper from the 1800,s . The main article in the paper was about a cattle drive . Wild cattle were gathered up somewhere in Texas and drove to the West side of the Mississippi River . There the cowboys ran the cattle into the river with the cowboys following clinging onto their saddle horns . They successfully crossed the Mississippi river " or at least some of them ". Once across the river they drove the cattle into Woodville and sold them . What amazed the town people pouring out onto the street to watch the spectacle of the cattle in their town was " the OLDEST cowhand herding in the cattle was somewhere around 14 YEARS OLD ". Honestly I don't remember the exact age of the oldest cowboy but it was somewhere in that range . I tried to google this cattle drive but failed to pull it up . This is something a block buster movie could be based on . Kids apparently grew up quick .

I like about everyone else have seen the movie and agree there is some similarities . The movie may have borrowed some historical facts from the Woodville cattle drive . Actually though the fact they crossed the Mississippi River sounds like if the movie was based on an actual event , have left out some very interesting details .
