Blitz: This might be more than you want to read, but here is a brief history of the Democrat and Republican parties.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_United_States_Democratic_Party

    https://www.gop.com/history/

I could not say historically where the difference came, but for several generations the Democratic Party was known as the party of the people, the common man, the little guy. The Republican Party became the party of the rich, Industrialist, Capitalist.

Democrats have always championed their cause with increased government spending, increased regulation, and increased taxes. Their basic philosophy (IMHO) is that they, The Government, know what is best for the people. Republicans have been more laisse faire trying to reduce regulation, and reducing taxes. Getting Government out of people's lives.

What we see today is a massive Welfare State that has been that has been profligated by Democrats. They buy votes with tax payer money making promises that can never be kept. The promises made by the current Democrat candidates, are ridiculously absurd. There isn't enough tax revenue in the world to pay for anything they propose.

So we have a conundrum. No politician ever got elected by promising less. The sheeple here who are receiving the government payout, are not going to vote for a politician that will reduce or cut off their benefits. The people who are paying the taxes are increasingly dissatisfied paying more, particularly for those who don't work, and receiving less. A Socialist is one who wants to solve all the problems of the world with somebody else's money. Remember the quote from Margaret Thatcher. The problem is eventually you run out of other people's money.

The Democrat Party has moved so far to the left/liberal/socialist even the moderate Democrats don't recognize it any more. To everyone's detriment the Democrats own the media, and in large part the Educational system in the U.S. Their message is indoctrinated into school children, and broadcast coast to coast. There is very little broadcast about the Conservative (Republican) message.

I would like to think that mainstream America sees the Democrat party for what they are. They, Democrats, do not share our values, and everything they propose would destroy the country. They are hypocritical beyond belief, and people recognize that.

I for one do not think there will be another Civil War. There is a lot of saber rattling, but when push comes to shove cooler heads will prevail. There may be some violence, and bloodshed, but not anything close to war. Hope this helps. Please ask any questions. I enjoy hearing other's opinions especially from elsewhere in the world. Are we, the U.S., the Great Satan?

If someone wants to know what we had in the U.S. as a president in the Clinton and Obama administrations turn to you tube and watch Arkancide . It will explain all the suspicious deaths surrounding these dark times . The death list is much longer than most realize .

    Good morning Poltiregist,

Was it Mena (spell?) airfield, close to Oklahoma line, where all the "heart attacks" occurred ?

Here we have Fort Marcy Park and Zoah State Forest.

I don't recall the heart attacks but could have been . But near Mena three boys stumbled upon a drug air drop supposedly " run by then Governor Bill Clinton and Hillary Clinton " . County deputy sheriffs that was waiting for their package discovered the boys ,killed them , laid them on a railroad track , covered them with a tarp and waited for the train to run over them . The tarp latter disappeared and what was left of the boys was gathered up in buckets .

Watched a series called Pandemic on Netflix yesterday.

I was very dismayed and the number of hospitals in rural areas closing in America. One particular hospital was likely to close unless they got some sort of tax to help support it. What a sad state of affairs.

    Good morning Blitz,

It's really good news that the rural hospitals are leaving the scene. They drain away precious resources used by only a small segment of population. It's like a an airline flying an aircraft with 5 passengers. The costs are never met and all will lose.

Those needing medical care are better served by living in an area with basic medical arrangements.

The US Department of Veterans Affairs has a rural health care program using large trailers for clinics. It still requires a drive for the veteran/patient to get there. The overall better arrangement is to relocate to an area with basic medical arrangements.

Rural America is now only for the hardy and prepared. The subsidies are stopping.

I'll politely disagree. Living in a rural area myself, it currently takes me nearly an hour to access a small rural hospital. If that wasn't there, I would have to travel 2 hours to access a hospital.

I believe there is a real need for rural hospitals. Not everyone can afford to live in an area that has the same level of medical facilities as in an urban area. The hospitals in rural areas here are well utilised and aren't a waste of resources. I think they are an important part of a rural community. People in rural communities serve by farming and agriculture and therefore play an important role in society. It's challenging enough living in a rural community without being penalised and denied access to decent medical care.

I live in a rural area, our nearest hospital is at least one hour by road, they shut all our community hospitals over the last few years, in an emergency a patient might get airlifted by air ambulance-helicopter- say a heart attack victim but all others have to wait several hours for a road ambulance.

    Good morning Lonewolf,

This is going on here also but including the phaseout of air ambulance service unless privately-funded.

I've posted here a couple of times about efforts to build a small "semi-sterile" medical clinic but my M.D. colleagues tell me the RX phara is not made available nor is the medical equipment market-priced. For a little while I let some dentist colleagues store a dental trailer on my land (w/o the pharma and X-ray film) but the country made new rules on rolling stock trailers, so had the thing moved elsewhere.

The Atlantic Alliance treasuries are depleted. It's the Federal Reserve printing press keeping the US going but this is really inflating the money supply. Already the early middle age working generation are experiencing a declining standard of living. It depends on how fast the corrective actions can be made.

Our US rural areas where there are a productive citizenry do have basic hospitals but the retirees thinking that medical personnel will work for much less compensation in areas with poor quality schools, safety and roads, really do not think. It's all changed.

our air ambulance is publicly funded but only by donations and I think there is only the one.
we do have a new family doctors surgery nearby which also issues repeat medications, its closed at the moment because of the virus, it can only be accessed by appointment.
our previous doctor was 12 miles away and the pharmacy 9 miles and any repeat prescription needed at least three trips to access(66miles in total), dentists is still 9 miles away.

Rural hospitals and other health-care facilities are necessary.

In Southern Appalachia, people die without these facilities. I've been one cog in the machine of bringing back rural hospitals that struggle to keep their doors open.

Rural people with health conditions often have zero resources to move. If they do move, their life expectancy drops like a stone.

in Britain I think they are trying to "centralise" everything in the cities, rural people have to travel some times large distances to access hospital appointments, there are only 2 large hospitals in my county and only one in the counties either side.

    Good morning Old Geezer,

Rural hospitals and clinics are needed but they are not affordable.

A hospital is so capital intensive with required professional labor that even the operating costs cannot be recovered from patients and these patients aren't even paying most of the bill.

    Yes, people will die.

I did volunteer work with the DVA's Veterans Rural Health Care delivery program. It, too, was underfunded with rising costs and more patients. More centralization,- for economies of scale - with satellite clinics, is required or even more people will be lost.

Don't ask me about our abundant ambulance fleets.

To me this topic involves extreme feelings. Unimaginable efforts have been made to keep these hospitals open. Medical schools have been created with the express purpose of providing physicians who will stay in their own state and become staff physicians in rural hospitals.

Being a volunteer in a delivery program does not constitute any curriculum vitae sufficient to allow you to make such sweeping comments. This country has a horrible record of training physicians for this task; we have worked our rear-ends off trying to meet this need.

"Yes, people will die." OK, so you be the physician who must tell this family that their Dad was a write-off. Enter the world of life-or-death and your attitude will change. How I would love to watch you speak face-to-face with some physicians with whom I work and have worked.

    Good morning Old Geezer,

Besides doing volunteer work with VA's rural medical delivery care, I also participated with RAM (www.ram.org), Remote Area Medical Corps where I worked the Appalachia clinics. Currently I work projects in Appalachia, Virginia with dentists from the 3 state area. Had mentioned here at MSF about the planned for and then cancelled dental school in Tazewell County, Virginia. Discussed / questioned the cancellation with officials in Richmond. Had also been a D.C. based lobbyist for a US oil company with experience on Capitol Hill. Some hold the opinion that I have the background to discuss rural health care delivery whether they accept my positions or not.

I'm not a physician nor other health care provider but do deal with death as a matter of routine.

Of course some are being "written off". There are other ways to say it but I'm a pragmatist and appreciate the blunt, direct, no time wasted approach.

Why are the rural hospitals being closed ? Is there no valid reason ? I believe the US will use regional hospitals with ambulance service for rural areas.

The physicians and other health care providers are not the - key - persons to deal with re rural medical facilities. It is the political establishment making the decisions.

Regardless, a few of us are still out there helping set up the clinics, field facilities and resupply.

As an aside - a big aside - in only a few weeks from now hurricane season will be here. I'm still urging those helping shut-ins to relocate their people out of this tidal zone area area. The non-maintained country roads are worse now than last year and these people cannot be rescued even by us volunteer responders who do not get paid nor equipped by the public sector.

    This, too, shall pass.

Here, when a dispensary sells an ounce of weed, the taxes add up to about 30 bucks over street. The city takes a little cut, then county then state. Here, its allocated for education, and municipal use which probably means a nicer courthouse someday.

At the city level, one dispensary isnt going to generate a ton of revenue by taxation. But it should save a few bucks long term by fewer hours spent prosecuting minor cases, and less money spent supporting jailed offenders.

At least, thats the plan. Sort of a work in progress, time will tell.

"This money goes to help children. We spend it on education and the betterment of society."

And if you believe that, I have some water-front property in Florida you may be interested in.

The money gets funneled into the pockets of those who are "good-fellows" within urban political machines. Some money actually gets to a real cause, but know that the good cause beneficiaries will be on the evening news. The beneficiaries will be photographed alongside grinning politicians so that the moment can be used in the next political campaign.

My numbers are from the 1990's, however Catholic Schools in the New York city region had, as a percentage (XX number of administrators per 1000 students), only a fraction of the administrators and administrative staff that the public school system had. And yes, parochial schools do take in the poor kids; there are funds for this purpose. Anything having to do with government involves waste and bloat. Usually tax dollars do not make it to the streets -- it is the higher-ups and the glory projects that get the money.

The eternal question: Why do career politicians spend $10 million on running for an office that pays $100,000 a year? Is it out of the goodness of their hearts? Or, could it be that government money flows to their cronies. Politicians sit on the boards of companies and "non-profit" organizations and make millions for "being there". They also charge huge fees to speak at universities. Universities have extreme bias towards the Left and rarely invite anyone to speak who has views contrary to that which is "politically correct".

Conservative politicians come out and say, "I'm biased towards businesses." At least there is an honesty in just putting that out front. When I hear a collectivist saying that they want to help the poor, it is all I can do to keep from vomiting. The Left wants a nation of peasants -- it gives them control of the government Money Machine. The peasants must kiss the signet ring of the elitist leaders if they want their daily crumbs.
