He conveniently forgets, or just ignores, the fact that Braxton Bragg was a West Pointe graduate who served with distinction in the Seminole wars, and in the Mexican American War. Most of the Confederate generals were West Pointe graduates who took a side in an extremely complicated issue. Nobody agrees with, or condones slavery, but there was much more to it than one issue. They deserve their place in history.

The same could probably be said for anyone who has risen to the rank of general. Conversely, you could find people who thought Adolph Hitler or Sadaam Hussein were great guys.
