For anyone thinking economies always bounce back and everyone continues on their merry way , find a Venezuela Citizen and ask them about their economic bounce back . After over a decade their economic condition worsens each day the sun comes up . This is the Country that USED to be the third wealthiest country on planet earth . -- Someone believing it will not happen in the area in which they live , simply because it has not gotten that extreme in their past is living in a fantasy . It " May " not get as bad where the " economy collapse denier " lives but they certainly have no guarantee it won't either . This is what separate's preppers from sheeple . Preppers face reality and what can happen and prepare accordingly .

Venezuela is not the USA/UK/Germany et al, it does not have the wealth and working financial infrastructure of 'us'.

"Political corruption, chronic shortages of food and medicine, closure of companies, unemployment, deterioration of productivity, authoritarianism, human rights violations, gross economic mismanagement and high dependence on oil have also contributed to the worsening crisis." Like so many African countries they were stuffed long ago.

"Preppers face reality"? Maybe, some do, others seem to derive pleasure from praying for the worst to happen to others while convinced they'll rise like Phoenix from the ashes to save the world untouched from the event that wrecked the rest. I'm a realist.

"When Expedient 'Saves' Become Permanent, Ruin Is Assured"

    https://charleshughsmith.blogspot.com/2021/06/when-expedient-saves-become-permanent.html

"The belief that the Federal Reserve possesses god-like powers and wisdom would be comical if it wasn't so deeply tragic, for the Fed doesn't even have a plan, much less wisdom. All the Fed has is an incoherent jumble of expedient, panic-driven "saves" it cobbled together in the 2008-2009 Global Financial Meltdown that it had made inevitable.

"By making expedient 'saves' permanent policy, the Fed has ensured the destabilization of the entire financial system. If you promise no amount of risk will ever deliver any consequence other than 'every roulette number will be a big winner,' then risk rapidly approaches near-infinite heights. If the Fed attempts to backstop and bail out every institution and punter who believed in the Fed's power to extinguish risk, that expedient "save" will collapse the system.

"Here's the Fed's choice: continue making expedient 'saves' permanent policy, the system collapses. Withdraw the guarantee that risk will never have any consequences, and the system collapses. The Fed's 'choice' is as illusory as the 'wealth' the Fed has created with its perfection of moral hazard--a perfection that could only end in the collapse of the entire fraudulent fantasy of risk-free gains forever."

I like silver. Gold has got to a rediculous level and when it swings back into line a lot of people are going to be crying. The god to silver ratio has traditionally been in the 1-32 range Even 1 to 50 is within reason but 1850 to 31 which is 60 to 1 is out of line and will not hold forever. Besides that what can you really buy with an 1800 dollar coin? I've had gold and even a bank wouldn't make a loan on it. They told me to sell it. I did but not thn I waited and made a monster profet on it. I also closed my accounts out with that bank of idiots. They would loan me money but I wanted a secured loan rate and not a signature loan rate. I took the money from that gold and made my own bank that I borrow from and pay intrest to.

"Even The Fed Doesn't Believe The Fed Anymore"

    https://www.zerohedge.com/economics/even-fed-doesnt-believe-fed-anymore

"... But apparently the White House doesn’t believe its own central bank… because the 10-year Biden Budget assumes an inflation rate that’s, proportionally, 15% higher than what the Federal Reserve promises.

"This lack of confidence is pretty remarkable; think about it - the US Treasury Secretary, who would have been instrumental in drafting the budget, used to be the Chair of the Federal Reserve.

"So even the Fed’s own alumni don’t believe the Fed when they say that they’ll keep inflation at 2%.

"[ZH: We note that today, The Fed actually folded and moved it's own forecast for inflation higher]

"And why should anyone believe the Fed? Inflation has been soaring, yet the Fed has been completely dismissive of it, claiming that inflation is ‘transitory’, i.e. it’s a temporary phenomenon that will eventually stop."

"... But then the Federal Reserve steps in… and arbitrarily expands the money supply. And by “expand”, I mean “flooded the economy with a supernova orgy of money.”

"This is pretty much what the Fed has done ever since the LAST financial crisis in 2008; back then its balance sheet was about $800 billion. Today it’s $8 trillion– 10x bigger.

"This means that the Fed has stuffed enormous quantities of money into the economy over the past 12+ years… and especially over the last year.

"Since COVID started, the Fed has doubled the size of its balance sheet and expanded the money supply more than any year in US history except for 1943. That’s really saying something."

A Tax is work you do for which you get no goods or services...in that you have no discretion over the moneys you have earned often at great risks.

I don't care two hoots what they teach you in schools as to what is a tax. To the person who earns and risks for the monies it is work you do for which you get no goods or services...by no discretion over the spending of your hard earned monies.

Inflation is work you do for which you get no goods or services or put another way....discretion over the moneys you have earned and often at great risks.

Inflation or put another way..by it's correct name....depreciation... is in effect disguised Taxation...for the results are the same.

People are being taxed twice.....perhaps now you can understand why people become angry..
They may not understand it..or be able to vocalize it ..but they know something is very wrong....

There is no way that a government is ever going to allow people to become aware or awoke to the understanding that in essence they are being taxed twice....

Under certain conditions ...the inflation tax can become very very fierce....and many people do not know of this history....you are not supposed to know it.

Any of the early writers/founders who wrote about it...,..with the failure of the inflation/depreciation of the Continental Notes before our current Constitution and under the failed Articles of Confederation.....will tell you that Inflation/Depreciation is nothing more than Disguised Taxation...

Again this is a concept avoided devoutly in todays education systems. You are never supposed to be able to think this far on your own. How dare you think and or know outside of the Herding Box.

It appears to me some on here just don't grasp inflation . As preppers the concern is not about items increasing in price 100% or so . The concern is total runaway inflation " hyper inflation " . With all the caution thrown to the wind by governments and spending their way like sailors in bars paying their way with I.O.U. s . , There will be consequences . I can't speak for the political leaders of other countries , but here in the U.S. we are being led by radicals living in a fantasy . You can be assured when the government's fake money scheme begins to implode , they will be looking at the working people to pay even higher taxes to try to keep their fantasy world afloat . However there comes a point the working people will not be able to keep the fantasy crowd living in their customary fashion . Look at Venezuela and their inflation along with the plight of it's citizens to comprehend what is the future for countries embarking on a fantasy journey . ---- The only viable option is to be complete self sufficient . Depending on the government , neighbors or stealing your way to survival is a path to despair and possible death . ---- Perhaps some were only joking about wanting inflation , so their interest on savings would increase . If not ask , a Venezuela Citizen about their saving's and how their hyper inflation is making their life better . Perhaps I am being arrogant , but when hyper inflation takes hold in the U.S. it will effect the entire planet . We are being led " supposedly " by a mentally incompetent old man that sometimes can not even make a coherent sentence . Dark days ahead .

That is exactly what governments did in places like Argentina....they never learn.

They wind up grabbing peoples retirement accounts because it is liquidity....and anything else liquid on which they can get their hands and continue spending...to keep and remain in power,

Furthermore hyper inflation prevents people from working out long term contracts and also disturbs short term contracts as one cannot guarantee what the money will purchase next week.

Capitalism is based on the money holding value and the ability to contract and obligate to specific performance.

But how about those Kardashians.....that ESPN!!!!!!!!!!!??????

similar happened here with the last Labour government, socialists are very good at spending other peoples money, when they lost the general election and moved out they left a note for the incoming administration it read" there is no money left, good luck".

When the economy really tanks, the consequences will be much worse than in decades past.

The recession that occurred in 2008 caused all manner of wailing and chest-beating; but quite frankly, it was just a recession. Since then, the financial problems that caused the 2008 blip have simply been patched-over with throwing fiat money at the many problems. No real fixes were instituted.

Witness the condominium that just collapsed in Miami, Florida. Engineers had been telling the owners association that structural problems existed -- this, as far back as 2018. What did they do -- they patched the place a bit and put off the true repairs. Now there are dead people under the rubble.

All across Western Nations, people have become weak, lazy, and dependent. Some are aware of their weakness and seem to revel in it. Everybody is blaming everything on everybody else. Our cities have become cultural cesspools wherein daily looting has become the norm. Communist college professors and media propagandists have convinced weak-minded people that they deserve to be robbed by "the oppressed" and by their own government. People pound their chests and vote for higher taxation to appease the street aggressors. Individuality is fading away and becoming members of a herd is touted as the morally correct thing to do.

The Miami condo was doomed. So are Western economies. When the economic collapse occurs, the majority of the populations of Western nations are going to decompensate in such a way that chaos will follow. In centuries past, such conditions have led to the rise of dictators. This time however, the populations have grown way too vast. People are packed in urban areas shoulder to shoulder. In centuries past, the better part of any economy was agriculture and other economic components bespoke a certain degree of self-sufficiency. That is gone. I surmise that when things let go this time, the people will not be mentally stable enough to even be herded. Raw panic will replace anything resembling civilized behavior. I see wars as the consequence. The strong will attempt to crush and replace the weak. Ever open a history book? Weakness = war.

Inflation can make it so that a persons lifetime savings virtually cease to have value. I remember when 10 dollars was enough to go out on a date. You can't hardly eat at Mc Donnalds for ten bucks. As soon as I realized what was happening during our last inflationary surge I went and bought a Mini 14. New it cost $165.00, payments were 15 a month. In short order the price doubled and then halved again. Best 15 dollars a month ever.

I was extreemly fortunate in that I worked for a company that had thought that they were screwing us on the last contract when they insisted on a cost of living raise pay schedual rather than just giving us a raise. I went from $3.83 to over $12.00 an hour over the next few years. I knew people though that didn't get that sort of wage raises and they suffered. I remember 17 cent a gallon gasoline. I danm near ran out of gas one time because I refused to stop and buy gas in Louisianna because it was 37 cents. Suddenly it was way over a dollar and still climbing.

Whether it is inflation or a depression if you understand what is happening and what you can do about it you can minimize the trauma that you may experience. In either case the most important thing for you to remember and do is BE FLEXABLE and take what you can get.

When things get tough companies tend to promote more from within. This is in part because if they put a help wanted advertisement in the newspaper the may be inundated to the point of not being able to open because there may be no parking within a dozen blocks the next morning. I've seen this happen more than once. You couldn't even get to the office door.

What they start to do is hire via word of mouth through employees. I have got several jobs via word of mouth during the various economic down periods that I have lived through. I will take any job available and then move up over time to better places. More than once I have started on a loading dock to get my foot in the door. It may not be great but I have never had to resort to welfare or food stamps. Where I live those are run and basically only for blacks. The only time that I tried they wanted me to sell my work truck and my Machinist tools. NO WAY. Then when things turned up, I wouldn’t be able get the jobs that I was qualified for.

I networked and put out the word that I was looking for work through all the groups that I dealt with. At times when there are just no jobs available that is about the only way to get employed. The thing is that the lower-level jobs are usually easy to fill and also usually have a lot more turn over. During hard times people take them “until” better comes along. I am big and when I was young I sort of liked physical work as a change of pace from what I normally did. There is good money in loading and unloading trucks and they were always looking for workers. A lot of those places only have people to load trucks and you can get work in cash from the truck drivers to unload their trucks for them. Those jobs used to run 2 times minimum wage for people that stayed with it. After a while you can move off the loading dock because they often post opening in house first.

The big thing that I usually got with those jobs was insurance. I can only enjoy so much sitting at home and being broke on unemployment. These jobs are not glamorous but they got me off unemployment and it is always easier to get a better job when you have a job than getting a job when you don’t have one.

again this fixation with all things UK.
you live in the US what does it matter to you what the UK national debt is?
    I dont get it.
in any case we have had 3 national lock downs in the UK, shops, cafe's, bars and restaurants closed, staff on furlough, of course it has an effect on the economy and national debt.

There are a lot of possible catastrophic events a prepper or survivalist can foresee as a possible future . They could range from earthquakes , asteroid impact or war . My line of thought though is the most probable event is indeed a financial collapse . Especially here in the U.S. with mentally deranged personnel trying to rearrange government structure and dictate to the food producers , transporters and stores how to conduct their businesses . A financial collapse is an almost guarantee to happen . This failure is not only confined to food though . It will cause a collapse of all systems . --- Remember Barack Obama's buddy in the White House " Jones "repeatedly saying " to bring in " Communism " we are following the Howard and Pivan plan . First we must collapse the government . Then we will bring it back up with a different government system . Now even worse , the Howard and Pivan enthusiast have gotten control over what the voting machines spill out , so now there is no chance of citizens of having an honest election anywhere in the future , to turn back this tide . Surely all you guys remember Biden getting off script and proclaiming the upcoming election was rigged to a degree like never before . Of course his handlers tried to walk this back and claim that was not what he meant . A few months later we saw first hand exactly what Joe had said unfold . Now we are seeing the cartel in the White House attacking the oil industry . Crush the oil industry , they crush fuel for transportation and plastic .

Western nations are attempting to borrow themselves out of a financial depression. So far, the money-printing has kept the financial bubble from popping. Can this go on forever? If you live in Never-Never Land, then you probably believe that all will be just fine.

Thing is, there are soooooooooo many ticking time-bombs all around the planet!

Think about how many nations are ready to go to war. Iran is now unimpeded from developing nukes. China is in the business of threatening the U.S., India, the Philippines, Vietnam, Canada, Australia, ... . The Crimea is yet again in history's cross-hairs for a war's flashpoint. Russia is threatening the U.S.. On and on and on ...

Geophysically-speaking, how many nasty earthquakes are massively overdue -- especially here in the US. We've got the Cascadia overdue, the San Andreas, the New Madrid, ... . Any one of these could shut off the electricity and put millions out of their homes.

There is the melting of the cities in the West. I can't even begin to name the cities that are oozing in crime or perpetually on the verge of rioting.

This Chinacovid virus shut down economies. And let's face it, c19 was no hemorrhagic fever. In the future, humans on Earth could get hit with a REAL plague. History shows us that plagues take out vast percentages of populations.

We preppers tend to think in terms of this SHTF event, or that SHTF event, when in fact we could be looking at multiple events occurring at the same time. Plus there is the domino-effect of cascading events, each one precipitating yet another. Add to all of this the amount of overpopulation that is the reality of nations. Too many people are crammed into too little space. Every megalopolis is totally dependent on a web of transportation of goods and the provision of energy to keep them from collapsing.

It is mind-numbing to me that this powder-keg has not already gone off. We are but a hair trigger away from profoundly grim years. And once these events go down, it will indeed be years, maybe decades, before matters can be put right. Five years, ten years from now (or next year) the Earth's population is not going to be anywhere near what it is now. A cataclysmic die-off is in the works and everyone is whistling past the graveyard.

The US, Great Brittan, its affiliates and Australia are the three big English speaking world powers. Believe it or not we feel a connection to The English as a homeland. There is a town in England with my last name and one entire side of my family are Mc this and that.

Where your people came from is likely someplace on those two islands. In America, other than the Native Americans that survived the arrival of the Europeans, we all came from someplace else just a few generations ago. While my heritage is mostly from Great Britain my wife is half German and half Native American.

Usually if I am not self-described as and American I am a 5th generation Texan. We came while it was part of Mexico and then were Americans and then Confederates and then Americans again but ALWAYS we are Texans.

When your family came from many other places you develope and intrest in those places Lone Wolf. My Dads liniage was half Scott and half English or Welsh. My Moms was 50% German and 50% English via Germany.

Where you live I would imagine that most of the people are native to that area for many generations. That is nothing like America. We are a land of MUTTS. My best friend when I was a kid was half Italian and half Cajun French.

On the television news today - over the last month or two inflation in the United States was so bad , you would have to go back 13 years to find it at that level . Speculation " but not from the Biden Regime " it is only the beginning toward our Venezuela style collapse . This is exactly what was being predicted would happen on here , if the Biden regime gained control . In the first 6 or 7 months the Biden regime turned around what was one of the most prosperous economies in U.S. history to a collapsing economy . In a few more months sheeple will be in panic . Preppers will simply be sliding into their survival plans .

https://www.theorganicprepper.com/digital-currency-venezuela/ Most if not all countries will be following the path of Venezuela . Here in the U.S. we see the Biden regime doing as ordered by their master and printing up bogus money to throw to the public , conditioning them to a Venezuela type of governance . The real only difference between the Venezuela financial collapse and the United States financial collapse is the accelerated speed the U.S. is collapsing . Globally expect all countries to be adopting the digital currency . Likely the ability to scan the human body to buy or sell will be linked to the make believe currency . Only a handful of hard core preppers will be able to survive without their bodies being scanned .

Silver and gold are still valuable in Venezuela.

"Hungry Venezuelans are selling gold rings and family heirlooms just to buy groceries"

    https://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation-world/world/americas/venezuela/article222199935.html

"Arelis Torres, a retired university worker in her 60s, walked up to the counter of a fancy pawnshop on 72nd Street in Maracaibo, Venezuela’s second largest city, and placed her gold graduation ring on top of the glass.

“'I’d like to sell this, please,' she told an employee. The man placed the ring on a scale to weigh it as Torres tried not to cry.

"She had bought the piece of jewelry decades ago. The ring reminded her of one of her biggest life achievements. It made her proud.

"She had to sell it, though. Her monthly income was not enough to buy food for her and her family.

"At the end of the transaction, Torres, former manager of a library at the University of Zulia, received several thousand bolivares — enough money for flour, rice, beef and grain to feed her family for the next 20 days.

"Venezuelans sell gold and silver chains, bracelets, earrings — including pieces that have belonged to their families for decades or generations — so they can walk out the door of the pawnshop with enough money simply to eat, at least for a while.

"Some get rid of their family jewels to pay for other necessities like school registration for their children, oil changes for the car, dental procedures or healthcare.

"Gregorio Aldana, the 40-year-old owner of three pawnshops in Maracaibo’s downtown, estimates that 9 out of every 10 customers he sees are having financial problems due to the country’s economic crisis.

“'They’re all in need,' he said, sitting behind a worn desk, while a 65-year-old former teacher displays a bunch of white gold rings to one of his employees.

"Some customers even make visits to the pawnshop a regular thing, selling their gold chains in chunks, one small piece at a time, to manage a monthly income for food and basic economic needs, he said."

"I live in Venezuela, where you can buy Silver with a 40% discount...."

"Some days ago I answered some questions about the economy of Venezuela in a thread in r/Wallstreetsilver, and I was suggested I should create an AMA to answer other questions about silver and other commodities in the country. Considering there is a huge crisis in my country product of backward economic policies, tight controls over the currency and over most commercial activies, I think we can try to clarify some misconceptions and answer any question we may have. We can also talk about how people millions of people are surviving selling silver and gold to buy food.

"I'm a economic sciences student, I live in Barquisimeto, located in Lara, 360 kilometers (223 miles) west of Caracas, where I was born. The situation here in Barquisimeto is several times worse than in Caracas, but you can still see street vendors and stores open buying silver and gold in the downtown of the city."

"Unconcerned about contracting the coronavirus, Ronaikel makes his way through the dusty streets to get to the landfill as soon as the sun comes out. He carries a metal bar with a sharp tip, a sack to keep whatever he finds, and the hope of another stroke of luck, like when three weeks ago he found gold in the trash and made $20 selling it."

Tex, my mother came from Lancashire which is in the North of England, my father came from a town about 25 miles from where I now live, if you go to that town there are many people there with the same surname as me.

Both of my parents came from a tiny little town with a population of around 500. It seemed like I was related to EVERYONE there either by blood or marriage. We went there often and I always enjoied it a lot. At home I was pretty limited in where I could go but there I had no boundries. There is something to be said for small town living.

I moved into a small red pill community and I really love it. American flags flying and the most friendly people you could ever want to meet. Of course constitutional carry does make for a very polite society. Survival of the biggest is not assured. LOL

I live in the suburbs of a town with the population of 425. We have 3 convienence store/gas stations, a bank, 1 general store, and three restraunts. This is sort of a recreational lake area with a lot of weekend homes on the lake in the area. They pour a lot of money into the local economy. I do my fishing on Fridays when they are not here. On the weekends the skiers make fishing on the river hard so I move up into the creeks to fish. I have the river all to myself on Fridays.

I don't carry ALL the time but do carry when we go to Houston and most of the time even when I go to town here. I usually have at LEAST a North American 22 derringer. I carry it for a lot of things and always carry it fishing for snake repelant.

the 2008 economic crisis may have affected a lot of people but personally I hardly noticed it, it may just have been the house buying industry or people with a special kind of mortgage that were affected, I have neither.

The financial collapse , the transportation of food collapse , and the industrial collapse are combining to create a global collapse , thrusting middle and lower positioned citizens into something that has never been seen in modern times . The self reliant prepper will enjoy their futuristic vision and wise decision to prepare for self sufficiency . Those that prepared for only short term of months for survival will see their short sighted folly unfold . The infinity prepper is now what is becoming the apparent survivor of our dark future ,as the communist grip tightens .

I really like the term "Infinity" prepper. More definitive vs. long term. Long term varies by whom is using it. Infinity pretty much says it all.

I am pretty lucky. I have very little debt and because I was a survivalist before there was such a thing I have always been "prepared" for a collapse of our civilization. A lot of my preparation is not about piling up supplies and things. My preparation is more in knowledge and experiences.

If things went bad you might not be best served by trying to sit it out in your home with large stocks of food and weapons. Where I have lived for many years now were places that I could survive fairly easily. Lots of water full of fish and vast tracts of national forest. Also with it being rural with ranches all over the area there are a lot of cattle and thousands of escaped hogs in the woods. Meat will be pretty easy to handle. I have in the past had a large garden and could do it again. SEEDS are a must have.

I see the biggest threat to be all the idiots that don’t have even a week’s supply of groceries in their house. When they and their family get hungry that are going to set aside most of their morals. If you are not mentally prepared to protect what you have with lethal force then you will not survive for long. The first few months are going to be horrific. Civilized behavior goes out the door FAST when people are hungry and scared.

"I have very little debt and because I was a survivalist before there was such a thing." -- Tex

Our ancestors were "survivalists". We wouldn't be here if they were not.

My Pap had to shoot a guy, else my dad wouldn't have existed, thus me.

My people put food back and they killed animals, salted/smoked the meat, and made it through the winters. They had no electricity. It didn't exist for them. EVERYONE grew gardens and fields.

Our current generation is the ABNORMAL generation(s)! These people surrounding us are WEAK and thus, at risk.

We are the normal people. My ancestors didn't live in fear. They simply were prepared. Me too.

If you have what other people want, they will beat you down or shoot you and take what you have. And I do not care where it is that you live.

Put back food. Have guns and ammunition for your family's protection.

All of this is Common Sense 101.

My place is fenced. I will put a bell out at the gate but will also post a sign that tells them that to croos into my propety without permission will mean DEATH. No questions. No warnings. If someone goes out to see what they want you can bet that I will be looking at them through a scope. Too many people feel entitled and that some how you owe them something. All that I owe them is one short written warning. Then I will GIVE them one bullet in the head. There are going to be a LOT of crazy people for a while. They have never been hungry and many will have never done any real work. Growing, harvesting and then preserving food is hard work. I will have a big garden. If they think that I should share with them are in for a huge suprise.

I have to do my "big shop" in about 10 days or so, will see how bad the shortages are then.
at the moment its not affecting the supplies to my local corner shop.
we found this out in 2000, when we had the truckers strike, it only affected the main supermarkets not the smaller stores.

"What Would It Take For Hyperinflation To Occur in the U.S.? "

    https://munknee.com/how-likely-will-hyperinflation-occur-in-the-u-s/

"Already the deficit hawks are yelling and screaming [citing] high inflation risk… In Washington, this is playing out as dramatic lip service to austerity – massive budget cuts and a timetable for raising interest rates so here’s the thing: If the inflation problem becomes too serious for the hawks to be ignored [one of two scenarios could unfold:]

    1. eventually the Federal Reserve will be forced to…pull a “Volcker” and hit the inflation mule over the head with a sledgehammer. This “Volcker action” could then trigger a collapse in the value of paper assets, as all the rebuilt Ponzi schemes pumped with Federal Reserve money come tumbling down again. [Why? Because] the underpinnings of the U.S. economy were much stronger in Volcker’s day [back in the 70’s when] there was far less debt and leverage built into the system… [or]
    2. the stock market could crash on its own, as investors realize the stimulus rainbow has delivered them to the edge of a cliff.

"When the global economy encounters some domino chain combination of Japan/Middle East/China/America implosion, the threat of Great Depression 2.0 [will] come roaring back, bigger and uglier than before [because] all the “extend and pretend” actions [that have been] undertaken until now [will] have only made the problems worse… [Those past] attempts to stop “normal” inflation [will] trigger an economic collapse that rivals [the conditions experienced during the] Great Depression… At that juncture, it will be apparent to all that the Federal Reserve has run out of bullets – that “more stimulus” simply cannot work – that trillions have already been thrown down the drain. That is the point where true panic comes in."
