    Good morning all,

    Per ...

Note the mention of "just in case" as contrasted with "just in time" ("collapses in a crisis").

Article didn't convince me that new innovations will teach organizations "the importance of being well prepared". Under the old, inefficient and costly methods, some of our organizations were still well prepared.

Manufacturing and logistics are tools used by managers and leaders.

Without price adjustment (more expensive), "Just in Case" can't covered the bottom line particularly when it came down in overhead & operational cost

    Good morning Varuna,

Actually, "Just In Case" financial and logistics management DOES enhance the "bottom line" in re overhead and operational costs.

Whatever the business venture, it must be studied and prepared for. If, for example, the business is an offshore oil production rig or a second tier area airport, external events such as extreme weather events, can stop the business venture.

Think of last year's closing of Bahamas' small airports because of the hurricane. A few extra truck loads of rock and sand would have had them rehabilitated with arrival of clear weather. They weren't rehab-ed and hotels had lost business.

Just In Case preparedness allows for continuous operations concurrent with accounts receivable getting deposited. A shut down of a business venture hurts both liquidity and equity ratios.

    ......

A more immediate example; During peaceful times, it's not prudent to stock piles of ammunition in case of a war. Just the machinery at the factories kept in working order would suffice. During healthy times, it's not prudent to purchase and stockpile geometric inventories of PPE such as N-95 masks. Just the machinery at the factories kept in working order would suffice.

    ......

There must be a reason the oil industry has costly to procure and operate cargo helicopters as part of an offshore oil rig's logistics system. This appears to approximate motor vehicle ambulances in support of a hospital's mission.

WHO Director General Ted cannot explain above.

James and Mochter Riady of Lippo Group can.

"Survival goods" and "panic buying" don't really belong in the same sentence together.
I don't think the masses were buying survival goods when they were panic buying, just buying the stuff they normally bought like toilet paper.
