I suspect that we have for some time now ....quietly and secretly moved into an arena..wherein Nuclear Weapons have become obsolete.....

There are better and more efficient weapons today than nuclear weapons....

    Just my wild thinking.

I also believe that nuclear weapons.....just like the Russians ...are very good and handy for keeping people with television and or movie education....affrighted..controlled...herded..

    Ishmaelites run wild...

nuclear weapons are just to frighten people with, not to be actually used, if they get used nobody wins but we all get very dead and so does the planet.
as for friends, I've probably got less than the fingers of one hand, real friends that is not just associates, ones that can be trusted, and all too far away to be of any help WTSHTF.

We have become friends with the Lady next door. I discovered she is a prepper. She grows a lot of her own food and does canning too. She has canned various meats and is preparing for a power outage / grid down. I am taking her to the shooting range in a few weeks to help her with her shooting techniques. This is a relationship I want to cultivate.

    Agree.....

And you are reminding me TMT Tactical.....that I need to get off my "Donkey" and take out my Ruger Precision Rifle I bought about two years ago and never have sighted it in.....though I have put glass on it...just never took time to sight in this .308 bolt action rifle.

Spent about 1700 bucks on it and have not shot it the first time. Made plenty of reloads for it but never shot it.

    Can you believe it??....sometimes I can't.

The Ruger Precision Rifle is an excellent firearm. I have the rim fire version and love it. Either you have a lot more patience than me or your are a lot busier than me. I can't imagine having a firearm for two weeks, much less two years and not having fired it. Now you are going to have to find out if your RPR likes your reloads.

I put off the sight-in of a sporterized Nagant I got for a steal price this summer. That was almost a two month wait. Did this so that when visiting grandson got here, he'd get to see me drifting sights with brass punches and such. Much to my amazement, the windage didn't need shifting. Dang cheapy/rough WWII battle rifle turned out to be accurate, so that allowed me more time to discuss the aperture sights on the .22 rifle I'd taken out to the range for his shooting. Prior to going to range, I detail stripped/cleaned the Nagant's bolt (what a filthy mess that).
Lazy-bones WatcherChris, you told on yourself! Get caught-up with your work, man!!! (I'm one to talk, this old body of mine just isn't working as it should. :()

You know Olde Geezer.....you got me to remembering.

Some years ago at the gun club....to fellows in the lane next to me were shooting Mosen Nagant rifles......and I had a chance to follow them from my lane at the 100 yard range....through my spotting scope.

The Mosen Nagant is not much of a looker for a rifle......but.......to my surprise....those two rifles were shooting tight groups with iron sights. And I mean tight. That caught me very much by surprise...and taught me a new respect for the Mosen Nagant.

Do not judge a rifles performance by it's looks. Until that day I never would have given a Mosen Nagant a second look.

Like so many things today....the price has substantially increased... as the value of the dollar has fallen. And so too with the Mosen Nagant.

      "... substantially increased ..."
No, no, no, man, prices have gone crazy stratospheric. Mental illness and soulless greed are involved. New purchasers are paying 3x, 4x+, too high. Really makes me mad. Glad I bought my core surplus rifles decades ago. This latest low purchase price was obviously the work, the intervention, of St. Michael. All praise be unto our unseen allies on high aiding us in our struggles against evil.

    Olde Geezer.....

Most of my reloads are around the 150 grain .308 soft point......in both .308 and also .30.06.

I do know that in the Serria 168 grain boat tail Match bullet...that is indeed an accurate bullet...also in 190 grain boat tail Match.

I used to buy them in blocks of 500 but the price for them over the years has gone up substantially.

Eventually I will get a couple hundred rounds of boat tail match Sierras....to reload and do run outs on the seating.

Had a machinist at work make me a V block for doing run outs on my rifle bullets ....when I feel the need to do more accurate reloading. Have a dial indicator just for this task.

Now we are getting into a lot more detail in reloading...but at times I like that kind of work.....Patience Grasshopper....Patience..!!!!

    Oh...and about this Olde Geezer.....

I'm with you on that one Olde Geezer....I too am becoming High Mileage....and some of them were some rough rough miles...

China invasion? They are already here. They are in our opiate phones and they have their people in the White House.

"’s Psychological Warfare: American Teens Have Developed ‘TikTok Brain’ "

    https://www.breitbart.com/tech/2023...e-american-teens-have-developed-tiktok-brain/

"There are many concerns about the China-owned app TikTok, such as its effects on mental health and it being a national security risk, but researchers are also interested in how it impacts kids’ brains after they binge-watch the app’s nonstop stream of addicting videos. They have nicknamed the result “TikTok Brain,” and it is impacting the lives of young Americans.

"Early studies suggest that TikTok is actually changing youth’s attention spans, a phenomena known as “TikTok Brain.”

"Young people who binge-watch short-form content like TikTok or Instagram Reels find it harder “to participate in activities that don’t offer instant gratification,” the Wall Street Journal reported.

"The reward system in a person’s brain seeks reaction via continuous scrolling through TikTok and Instagram reels.

"The TikTok platform, owned by a hostile foreign country, is a “dopamine machine,” John Hutton, director of the Reading & Literacy Discovery Center at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, said."

    A few months back:

Chinese DAQI-1/AEMA satalite fires green lasers seen from Hawaii. These laser lacks the power of that which lit the fires of Maui. So maybe China has developed something superior. America's oligarchs sure are leagued with $China$ (slave labor central). Plus, the White House was purchased by Oligarchs, Ukraine, and communist China. War games? Sending a message? It's all more strange than strange.

"Experts finally think they know what caused these mysterious sky lasers over Hawaii"

China is winning its current drug war against the U.S..

"How Should the US Take Action Against the Deadliest Criminal Organization in the World?"

The China-Mexico fentanyl pipeline: increasingly sophisticated and deadly

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/may/18/china-mexico-opioid-traficking-us-sanctions

    Begin quote

When fentanyl first started appearing in street drugs, it was almost all sourced from China, arriving in the US via “snail mail”, according to Channing Mavrellis, illicit trade director at Global Financial Integrity, a DC-based thinktank.

“This was originally just a way of [stretching things when] they were low on product,” said Mavrellis. “Now it’s ‘Hey, people are responding really well to this’ – for better or for worse.”

According to the DEA and the justice department, since at least 2019 the bulk of the illegal fentanyl entering the US has been produced in Mexico using Chinese precursor chemicals.

But the cartel’s ties to China do not end there. On 26 April, Mavrellis and Urben both testified at a US House of Representatives subcommittee hearing titled China in Our Backyard: How Chinese Money Laundering Organizations Enrich the Cartels.

“Money is the lifeblood of the cartels, and the methods that Chinese [organized crime] was using enriched them and enabled them to traffic even more fentanyl and other deadly drugs into the United States,” Urben told lawmakers at the hearing.

In 2014, fewer than 6,000 people died from synthetic opioid overdoses in the US, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. By 2021, the last full year of available data, that figure topped 71,000, or almost 200 people pera day on average.

Laws China introduced in 2015 to stop money from flowing out of the country have created a huge market of Chinese nationals who are looking to spend money in the US on big ticket purchases, such as real estate and college tuition, but are unable to move their money out of China.

The way the criminal organizations operate, no yuan leaves China. Instead, the person buying the dollars sends payment to the seller’s Chinese account, and collects the cash they bought in person in the US.

The cartel also gets paid instantly, rather than waiting weeks as it did in the past, while brokers turn dollars into pesos by physically exporting goods from the US and providing the cartel with the proceeds once those goods are sold in Mexico.

    $1.500,000,000.000

"The opioid epidemic is costing us $1.5 trillion a year. And we’re spending peanuts to fight it."

    https://trone.house.gov/2022/10/06/...a-year-and-were-spending-peanuts-to-fight-it/

    Begin quote

The economic toll of opioid addiction and drug overdoses.

That toll is massive. A new report by Congress’s Joint Economic Committee (JEC) puts it at a staggering $1.47 trillion in 2020 alone, a 49% increase from 2019.

Here’s some additional context. For all the attention that gun deaths get (nearly 49,000 Americans died from gun-related injuries in 2021), opioid-related deaths that same year, including from the powerful synthetic painkiller fentanyl, accounted for about 107,000 fatalities (both data points via the Centers for Disease Control).

“It has become abundantly clear that the opioid epidemic is not only a health crisis, but also an economic and national security one,” said Democratic Congressman David Trone of Maryland, co-founder and co-chair of the Bipartisan Addiction and Mental Health Task Force. “With incalculable human cost and a staggering economic impact, this epidemic deserves urgent, collective action on a national scale.”

Border security is also part of the problem. The Justice Department says more agents are needed, particularly along California’s border with Mexico, the crossing point for about 60% of all the fentanyl seized in the entire United States so far this year. The feds also point the finger at China, calling it a source of “precursors” that are imported from there and other countries “and then pressed into pills, powder or mixed into other drugs at massive, industrial-scale labs.”

Chinese espionage is rampant in Western universities. Here's one article aus Deutschland:

"Leading German university suspends Chinese state-funded researchers"

      https://intelnews.org/2023/08/31/01-3304/

"ONE OF GERMANY’S LEADING universities has suspended researchers funded by the Chinese government, citing concerns about academic freedom and industrial espionage. The Friedrich Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU) announced the suspension of Chinese government-funded researchers in June of this year. In announcing the measure, the university stated that the move was designed to protect academic freedom and freedom of expression among its faculty and staff. Earlier this week, however, German media reported the contents of an internal FAU email, which expressed concerns that the Chinese state could be utilizing government-funded researches as spies."
