The fear of having an uncontrolled central government that was not responsive to the will of the people was all over the early days of our country. George Washington was the first "President" of the US after the constitution was put in place. There were several leaders before him. He was sort of carefully chosen to be the first President part because he had no children and as such no heirs and so there was no fear of him setting up himself as some form of monarchy.

One of the places where we have gone wrong is in allowing liberals to apply the constitutional rights to everyone...Even non-Americans. Our biggest error though is allowing idiots that can't run their own lives and support themselves and not be felons to have a vote. It was never supposed to be that way.

Given the opportunity, idiots will always vote for free cake and circuses and felons will vote for the freedom to do WHATEVER they want to do. And THAT is the heart of the Democratic liberals.

    Good morning TexDan,

I think Son of Liberty provides the accurate focus.

Much of this discussion is not complicated; it is "just" obscured by the highlighted America's Oberammergau Passion Play. Europe's destitute journeyed in danger to seek the new Promised Land.

The US Constitution is like Magna Carta: great foundation historical documents. Recall that in 1913 US Senators were selected by popular vote (17th Amendment).

Under the Article of Confederation, established during the American revolution, all the key economic classes suffered. Creditors hated the farmers with their push for what became depreciated paper money ("Not worth a Continental")

The clash was about the rights of the people versus the rights of property. Of course it is people who have the property rights thus the 2 sides in confrontation.

"Idiots" voting for no-cost cake and circuses ?! It's no-cost to them but the costs to grow the cake ingredients and the subsidies for the football teams arena circuses - includes half-time - are paid for by us. Post Vietnam War, as a fiat benchmark, there was a political-low-intensity war. One side won and one side lost. Note the numerous collages and universities, the artificial civil service jobs, the artificial military jobs, ... funded by invisible taxes.

We must ask ourselves who are the idiots.

Only recently has there been a political challenge to the bread and circuses for some - or the better phrase "Socialism for the rich; free enterprise for the poor" - and the political skirmishes are still ongoing.

"They" are organized. "We" are not.

For the sake of every American I surely hope there is no 2nd Civil War. I see people post things like "bring it on" and "lets get this thing started" and such but everyone needs to realize that the devastation of such a war will be immense and affect every American in one way or another and almost always in a bad way. Simply look around your neighborhood and realize that many of the people that you know and see on a daily basis will most likely perish. Families will be divided and famine and destitution will most likely be the daily lifestyle of most.

I refer to this song and the lyrics in it as a reminder of a time when the US Civil War was nearing it's end and one man's reflection of the days and the effects on his family and life.

"A little historical background on the people and events listed in the song: In the last days of the Civil War in 1865, with the defeat of the confederate army at Petersburg, Virginia imminent, General Robert E. Lee advised confederate President Jefferson Davis to evacuate Richmond, the confederate’s capital. Davis and his cabinet fled to Danville, Virginia, while the Union Army led by Major General George Stoneman was trying to capture him."

"General George Stoneman’s Union Cavalry rip up the rails of the Richmond and Danville Railroad, a main Confederate supply route, to prevent reinforcements reaching Robert E. Lee’s Army during the Siege of Petersburg. Robert E. Lee surrendered shortly after on April 9 at the Appomattox, and on May 10th Davis was captured by the Union Army and Richmond fell."

There are worse things like living as a slave in a progressive people's republic. Live Free or Die.

I had a thought last night as I watched a fireworks display to celebrate the US Independence Day. The grand child was watching seated next to me and I asked her if she knew the words to the Star Spangled banner and the meaning behind it. I told her it was supposed to have been written by Francis Scott Key as he watched a major US battle and how he wrote as he saw in "the rocket's red glare and the bombs bursting in air that our flag was still there".

Then a thought came over me about this thread. Who will win the civil war.
Now what if there is never a civil war at all and because so many people are locked in apathy or so tied up on facebook and the Internet that the entire country simply slips into socialism and then eventually into communism over time as is usually the case and there is never the so called "civil war". Instead at some point much further down the road wouldn't there more likely be a 2nd revolution as the people finally awaken to the fact that they have sold themselves into the slavery of socialism and communism?

The die-off of the sheeple of the cities will go a long way to restoring sanity in society. Urbanites are in open opposition to the Will of God. The belief of humans that they can come up with some sort of utopia is, in and of itself, a cancer.

I'm no dogmatic member of any religion, however paying attention to the writings within the Holy Books of God, prayer, humility before the Unknowable Singularity of Wisdom who created this place by simply observing it into existence, following the teachings of the Prophets, and decent/civilized behavior in general has the ability to make humans into a species worth saving. Otherwise, humans can just die off, and God can start again. It's no skin off His teeth.
