    • Climate change can be a conflict multiplying mechanism as it fosters unforeseen conflicts and reinforces existing ones. While there are many causes of conflict, climate change can be a trigger in the sequence.

On the basis that we are in an era of oil wars, I suspect there may be water wars before too many decades go by if the climate warms too much.

The wars are always over greed and resources. The world has plenty of water, the powers in charge do not spend the money or resources to provide water to where it is needed. once the shortage hits and it becomes more profitable, then there will be water, for a price.

Actually the world does not have that much fresh water. Certainly as the global population increases and need to meet food demands for that population rises it will present problems. There are already issues in California I believe.

the problem isn't so much too little water but too many people.

    Good morning Brownbear,

Ther issue in California is - presented - as as water issue but it's not. Population concentrations are the problem when allowed to live in a desert area supported by artificial (person-made [gender-neutral terminology]) water conduits. The Imperial Valley is a classic example.

If the resource was managed properly there wouldn't be a problem. How many trillions of gallons of fresh water flow into the ocean every day? I would think a portion of that could be diverted to areas of need without damaging the ecosystem. How many thousands of miles of coastline do we have in the U.S.? Is there one desalination plant operating anywhere?

TMT hit the nail on the head. There is no profit in water. When there is (profit in water) the solution will come pretty quickly. We can pipe oil across the Alaskan tundra. We should be able to pipe water where it is needed.

Do you ever hear Israel complaining about a lack of water?

Places like LA, Las Vegas and such are insane. they have built metropolises in a place that will never be able to support the kind of population that they have poured into these areas. Kill the power, shut off the water flow from distant sources and people will start dying in a matter of DAYS.even if you toss out the possibility of a long term climate change they are in trouble as are places in West Texas because we are sucking the underground aquifer dry turning the desert into irrigated farms.

When you keep making bad decisions for decades eventually there will come a time when you will pay for it. This is a problem all over the US. Cities were started in places that were fine for outposts and populations in the thousands. these places were picked for their local along rivers and in coastal areas that were great ports. In the case of Vegas, it was chosen based on a legal opportunity. That is good but those places are not really good or safe places to build metropolis with populations in the multimillions.

In the future regardless of the climate, there are going to be some hard decisions to make. If New Orleans actually gets hit by a big hurricane the death count is going to be horrendous. All of the West Coast Cities are looking at growing water problem and that is without the eventual FACT that when that St. Andreas fault cuts loose we don't know what we will be left with. Bad decisions or at least thoughtless decisions are eventually going to bite us in the butt!

I keep saying the problem is too many people and the logical ...solution..buy reasonable, enlightened, intelligent, illuminated men....is to kill of huge swaths of human population on a scientific rationale...

    In short....playing God...

This is what logical, reasonable, enlightened, illuminated men do.

By Genocide or Democide...take your pick.

This is where leadership is going ..world wide...

Read line one of the Georgia Guide stones and then take a close look at the United Nations.

Then take a close look ...very close at what passes for leadership in your country....very close.

Climate Change is the ultimate "Herding" mechanism....unto Democide or Genocide..

I have suspected this about the Climate Change people for a long long time...that they were harboring brainwashed radicals. That Greta girl and her speech before the UN was textbook...of what is coming to nations and people in the "Herding " Category.
