One of the things about the coronavirus that isn't being pointed out is that many people that actually catch it only experience mild cold-like symptoms. Even though they don't seem to be very sick they are nonetheless carriers and are contagious. There may well be some sort of variation in who is most affected by this virus. The Spanish influenza was like this and was most deadly to young healthy males while not being nearly as deadly to the people that you would generally consider the most endangered by a flu lie people with compromised immune systems. It is very possible that this virus may be especially deadly to certain sorts of people. The people in China may be especially vulnerable. This has happened before in countries with a low level of health care. For example the death rate of the Ebola in Africa versus the rate of the few cases in the US.

flu itself isn't usually what kills people it is more often the secondary infections like pneumonia that ends up being the actual killer. In the US you will land in the hospital before you are in the last stage of this sort of illness where in China with their shortage of everything medical people end up in much worse shape before they receive hospitalization.

This coronavirus is doing all manner of weird stuff. Like you said, some folk get it, it acts like any other flu, then they get better. Any type of flu carries the risk of setting-off bacterial pneumonia which can go SARS or can lead to septicemia. If someone has a weakened immune system, then they and their physician should always be on the alert for infections of any variety. Folk in their 80s, can be healthy today, catch a "something" and be with their ancestors next week.

Corona has been giving a bunch of folk a regular flu presentation, then goes raging and almost kills or does kill. This being utterly unexpected. Some people are "getting better", then the flu returns. In older people, the latter scenario can lead to death and rapidly so. Some people get better yet remain in an infectious state. This is really scary, because how would you ever know who these people are?! Will health officials have to perpetually track everyone who has developed this flu? We don't know.

This Covid-19 is evolving. And into what it may evolve, we know not. The coronavirus "platform" is not as dangerous as other forms. The viral family that was known as the Swine Flu was nasty and had a higher mortality rate. Let's put it this way, the experts are scratching their heads. That one Chinese hospital official who was becoming an expert died before before being able to complete his work.

One thing that is for sure, the global economy is going to take a hit. In the coming year, we'll see just how big of a hit. People who play the stock market roulette wheel have already begun to panic.

"Disease X' feared to have hit Ethiopia as dying villagers 'bleed from eyes"

"A mysterious and horrifying deadly illness killing villagers in Ethiopia could be the dreaded 'Disease X'.

"A concept coined by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to describe a new unknown pathogen with the potential to cause an epidemic, scientists are constantly on the lookout for illnesses that fit the description."

    Oh my.

China makes so much of the things that we use now that if they go down we are going to feel it. lots of the things that are "Made in America" are made out of parts that are made in China. That is what happens when you export most of your manufacturing jobs.

at the moment there is no vaccine for corona virus and it could take 18 months to make one and do all the testing, in the meantime people will still be catching it.
as a virus like the flu I wonder if the warmer weather will kill it off? we have flu "season" here and its always in the winter. I have never heard of many cases of flu in the summer.
