I've always enjoyed outdoor exercises like hiking out in the wilderness, but recently I've been getting a kick out of giving myself endurance challenges. I was on a hike one morning, when I thought to myself, just how much land would I be able to cover before my legs gave out? Not a thought people usually get on a pleasant morning stroll, but there I was craving this new challenge. I switched on the GPS for my phone, started tracking my distance, set my eyes to the road and just kept on walking. It was a measly 20km before the pain became unbearable, but that day I set my sites on improving and tackling many more marathon walks. My current goal is being able to walk 30km in 5 hours or less. Do any of you participate in endurance challenges or marathons, and if so, why do you do it? Do you have any sort of goals or target distances in mind?
