This is a continuation of my previous post above (Antarctica earthquake and volcanic activity). The overall topic concerns the increase in earthquake and volcanic activity across the globe. The Earth is rumbling at an ever-increasing rate of late. Risks of living on sea-coasts are on the upswing. I'd not want to be living anywhere near coastlines, quite frankly; but then I'm a mountain-lover -- not volcanic mountains, mind you.

"2021 on Track to Become Record-Breaking year of Major Earthquakes, Volcanoes"

    https://www.israel365news.com/18798...breaking-year-of-major-earthquakes-volcanoes/

    Oct 24, 2021

"In the first 65 days of this year, 42 major quakes, magnitude 6 or higher, have shaken the planet. The year with the largest total was 2010, with 24 major earthquakes greater than or equal to magnitude 7.0. In 2011, a total of 207 earthquakes of magnitude 6.0 or higher shook the earth, culminating in a 6.6 magnitude earthquake that caused the catastrophic meltdown of the Fukushima nuclear reactor and the concurrent 9.1 magnitude earthquake in Tohuka, Japan that killed over 20,000 people.

"But attention should be paid to less dramatic geologic rumblings as well. Iceland was hit by more than 18,000 earthquakes in the past week including a magnitude 7.3 earthquake, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake, and a magnitude 8.1 earthquake. In addition, authorities are warning that two volcanoes in a densely populated region of the country could erupt at literally any moment.

"The number of earthquakes is increasing. In the first 65 days of 1921, exactly one century ago, only seven major quakes, magnitude 6 or higher were recorded globally according to the USGS DataBase. In the same period last year, a total of 24 major quakes, magnitude 6 or higher were recorded around the globe. Back in 2019, just 20 major quakes had been reported up to March the 6th, just 50% of this year’s total. In 2018, a total of 24 major quakes were reported in the first 65 days of the year and in 2017 just 15. 24 major earthquakes were recorded in the beginning of 2016 and in 2015, just 18.

    "Volcanoes Also Increasing

"But earthquakes aren’t the only concern. Europe’s most active volcano, Mount Etna in Sicily, erupted seven times in the past two weeks. A large eruption started at Sangay volcano, Ecuador on Saturday. An earthquake swarm shook Mount Hood, a potentially active stratovolcano near Portland, Oregon for 45 minutes last week, raising concerns that the volcano was beginning to awake. Mount Sinabung in Indonesia’s North Sumatra province began erupting last Tuesday, sending volcanic materials as high as 16,400 feet into the sky with authorities recording 13 times when it released ash clouds. Three weeks ago, Fuego volcano, located 50 kilometers away from the capital city of Guatemala, started to erupt. As of yesterday 43 volcanoes around were erupting or showing signs of activity."
    -----------------------------------------------------

What with the La Palma, Canary Islands, volcanic activity increasing and intensity of earthquakes there increasing, Spain executed a tsunami drill for their emergency services personnel.

    https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2021/10/20/unprecedented-tsunami-drill-in-spains-andalucia/

"Unprecedented Tsunami drill in Spain’s Andalucia. 2000 people have been involved in the tsunami rehearsal.

"The autonomous community of Andalucia has been rehearsing how it would respond to a tsunami on the Atlantic coast. The drill is part of the ‘Simulacro Respuesta 21’. Rehearsals began on Tuesday, October 19, and carried on throughout Wednesday.

"The drill has tested out the Territorial Emergency Plan of Andalucia, as well as the special plans for Seismic Risk, Floods and Accidents in the Transport of Dangerous Goods. The Municipal Emergency Plans of more than fifty towns and cities were also tested."

Lets be honest, when Gaia says its time to heat the pot there is bugger all we can do about it. I'd not be surprised if during my lifetime a lot of islands and lower coastal areas don't disappear. Not a great idea to buy a property anywhere near the coast.

maybe your definition, its not mine, and there is no need for that kind of language here.
there are plenty of maps online showing how coastal communities would be flooded when sea levels rose.

Are you serious? Its OK to talk about guns and the best way to kill people at close range but a bit light humour and you get triggered again. What language, no swear words there, just a medical term. Are you deeply religious/prudish or just lacking in the humour department...unbelievable.

To describe violent robbers and murderers as "people" is to stretch the definition of the word "people" beyond its point of maximum elasticity.

An animal was an animal at the moment of its conception and can be nothing other than an animal. Even humans with very low IQs are able to think. The most stupid human can choose to act in a good or evil manner even if they were raised by monsters. An aggressive thief or murderer is behaving like an animal. They may even enjoy doing harm. They are thus animals and should be treated as such.

Some bleeding-heart turbo-neurotic sociology professor may wring her hands and say something like, "We must understand that this person was driven to rape and murder!" Nope, I don't buy that.

There's an old saying, "A liberal is a conservative who has yet to have been beaten-up and robbed."

Lord knows I've met mean people ... to include at least one murderer.

bodily functions may be okay in a comedy club but not for a serious forum, no need to bring the discussion down to gutter level. the inappropriate content (see forum rules) has now been removed.
nothing wrong with discussing how to protect oneself, remember this is an American forum, guns are part of their DNA, different rules with apply WROL.

You've misread the members, I work with Americans, I'm on two serious content forums (nothing to do with prepping or the outdoors) that are American run and the humour flys and believe me what I said would have raised a smile and not raised eyebrows

Its you who impose your views, its you that has a problem and don't use some misconception you hold about the American mentality rule your judgments LW its either that or you are deeply religious but don't let your piety rule the roost here.

If the native people's of the world are right and the earth axis has changed, it would cause a "wobble" in the planet which increases tectonic plate pressures and magma flows. We are coming out of a major ice age. What happened to the planet after the last 4 major ice ages?

a simple experiment that has been done: take a sphere of hard clay and cover the sphere with a layer of thinner clay on the same amount of area that was covered in ice sheets. Then spin it. Then remove the ice sheets and spin again. The sphere is slightly off and while spinning it tries to return to its natural shape.

Scientist already know that all of northern North America is "rebounding", that is it's rising. So is the northern areas of Europe and asia. Basic physics. Equal and opposite reactions.

That's not an easy thing to use for political gain.

There are now over 40 volcanoes erupting across the globe.

    https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/guides/zcn6k7h/revision/4

    "Global cooling - volcanic eruptions"

"Volcanic eruptions can intensify global warming by adding CO2 to the atmosphere. However, of greater significance is the haze effect - caused by ash and gases released during an eruption, which results in global cooling.

"It was thought for many years that the haze effect resulted from ash particles in the upper atmosphere blocking out solar radiation. However, scientists now believe that the sulfur-rich gases released in many eruptions have a greater impact. Sulfur combines with water vapour in the stratosphere to form dense clouds of tiny sulfuric acid droplets. These droplets absorb solar radiation and scatter it back into space."

This article goes on to list major volcanic events and their impact on weather:

"Observational evidence shows a clear correlation between historic eruptions and subsequent years of cold climate conditions. Examples include:

    • Laki, Iceland - erupted in 1783 - Europe and eastern USA recorded the lowest ever winter average temperature in the following year, almost 5°C below average.
    • Tambora, Indonesia - erupted in 1815 - resulted in an extremely cold spring and summer in 1816, which became known as the year without a summer. Snowfalls and frost occurred in June, July and August and alpine glaciers advanced down mountain slopes to exceptionally low elevations.
    • Krakatoa, Indonesia - erupted in 1883 - the second largest eruption in history. For months after the eruption the world experienced unseasonably cool weather and brilliant sunsets.
    • Mount Pinatubo, The Philippines – erupted in 1991 - 10 cubic km of material and 15 million tons of sulfur dioxide was ejected, making it the second biggest eruption of the 20th century. Over the course of the next two years, strong stratospheric winds spread these aerosol particles around the globe. Data collected following the eruption showed that the mean world temperatures decreased by about 1°C over the two years following the eruption."

... continued from above concerning the La Palma volcano / now tourist site for the lemming-people who want to go near volcanoes

In 2005, the BBC did a short film on a tsunami caused by La Palma island coming apart during a volcanic eruption. The video also includes a second event, a viral plague that kills millions. Me, I don't think that La Palma will come apart; however, some tiny space pebble 150 meters in diameter splashing into the Atlantic would have the same effect, a monster tsunami.

I found the following video interesting -- great graphics -- you may also:

    continued from above

In 2019 this super-religious girl had a dream about the La Palma volcano going off. She may come across as flaky, but I'm not simply writing her off. I've had dreams about nasty events that came true. Glad she made a video to document her dream. This video has now been published again on YouTube.

If interested, give this a watch:

Here's yet another video. This vid was created in 2017 and deals with the danger of La Palma's dormant (at that time) volcanoes.

"La Palma volcano update: Activity picks up, ground inflates 10 cm during 24 hours"
    Sat, 6 Nov 2021, 09:45
    09:45 AM | BY: T

"Powerful ash emissions created a plume that rose to estimated 8,000 ft (2.4 km) altitude and drifted SW over the ocean. A spike in tremor is also visible although it returned to previous levels since and still has an overall slowly decreasing tendency.

"However, more worrying probably is a renewed ground uplift signal of 10 cm since yesterday on the closest GPS station, measuring now approx. 24 cm above the level before the eruption. If the data is a correct reading, it likely implies a new magma batch that intruded at depth and likely will cause another surge of activity in the near future."

From Bushcraft Bear, an outdoorsman who is on La Palma to report on the volcanic activity there. Currently on Earth, 48 volcanoes are going off simultaneously. B.Bear is an honest guy and has videos on camping in which he passes along some good ideas. He likes to read from the Book of Psalms. Bear with him because B.Bear's English is basic, only basic. Lots and lots of folk keep up with his posts.

What is coming for the U.S. West Coast states:

    https://www.abc10.com/article/weath...uake/103-e51c518c-05dc-424b-b0df-8f31abb5813c

The HayWired Earthquake Scenario anticipates the impacts of a hypothetical magnitude 7.0 earthquake along the Hayward Fault. A quake that size could result in 800 deaths and thousands needing to be rescued from buildings. People would also be left without gas, water, and electricity for many days.

According to state and national agencies on the project, the job of extracting more than 22,000 people from 4,600 stalled elevators, along with about 2,400 people from 5,000 collapsed buildings, would fall to the approximately 19,000 firefighters who work in the San Francisco region.

The damage from the hypothetical HayWired mainshock could also cause widespread fires in the San Francisco region. During and soon after the mainshock, more than 400 gas and electric-related fires could ignite a fire just as destructive as the mainshock of the earthquake.

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4786564/Scientists-uncover-91-volcanoes-Antarctica-ice.html

"A team of scientists unearthed a volcanic region previously hidden under ice sheets, with the geologist who led the team warning of destabilising consequences.

"Edinburgh University researchers uncovered almost 100 volcanoes – with the highest almost as tall as Switzerland's 3,970-metre Eiger.

"Geologists think the region, which sits two kilometres below ice in west Antarctica, will dwarf east Africa’s volcanic ridge, which is rated as the world's densest concentration of volcanoes."

    O. Gzr sez: The Earth will do whatever it wants to do whenever it wants to do it! What is it that we human ants can do? The ONLY thing we can do is to prepare for the worst. We cannot even predict what will happen, much less prevent it. Something that I can predict is that human beings will act in stupid and aggressive ways. With powder and lead, I can bring some of the latter to a halt. Volcanoes and earthquakes? Maybe (?) one can try to live as far away from where the Earth's faults lie. But, that's all folks. Welcome to Purgatory.
