Earthquake Drill By Surprise

With the hype of the so called “big one,” one government agency is focusing on the earthquake drill. There were already 2 this year and the third was conducted last Friday. The drill was for 1 hour, from 4 pm to 5 pm. As part of the drill, electricity is cut off, even the internet providers have shut off their operations, and a siren sounds continuously to inform the public of the ongoing drill. This drills are one good way to develop the mentality for people not to be scared and not to panic when an earthquake occurs. And one thinking government official said that next time the drill would be a surprise to further simulate the real thing. I agree to that.

 

Practice makes perfect. I think it's a good idea if you live in a hot spot. If does hit people will know what to do and won't panic as much. That just simple means that less lives will be lost.
