I believe we are living in the end times, I believe what the Bible says. I think that the rapture may happen as early as this year. If you follow the prophesies, the legitimate ones, then this is what they are saying also. I feel it, I didn't pay attention to the other times, like 2000, 2012, ec., although important events did happen in 2012 that was part of prophesy. The rapture will happen, God or His grace will no longer be on the earth. All hell is going to break loose. It will be like no movie you have ever seen, the worst time since time began. If you still want to get to heaven you will have to die for it. All Christians that remain on earth will be persecuted and killed. People better be putting their plans in motion.

What do you think everyone is preparing for? The post I made is only for people who can understand it. You obviously don't or you wouldn't have asked that question. I'm not preaching, I'm only stating what's fixing to happen. Just because you don't believe it, won't make it go away. A lot of people get very offended when this subject is brought up. I don't mean to offend anyone. What are you preparing for?

Well fortunately I am not a christian, so I should survive just fine. As far as I know, there is nothing in the Pastaferian Bible about the Great Noodle Monster creating havoc on earth, it is in fact a very peaceful not violent non discriminate monster.

The closest I've gotten to a rapture was when sipping a fine 16 year Islay.

And if you want to argue angels dancing on the head of a pin, was it not inevitably God Who provided me with that "water of life"! "He works in mysterious ways."

Good luck in your's Tina, so long as you understand that if you are going to talk about invisible beings/things you are not going to be taken seriously. As far as the christian god is concerned it has no almighty powers, it has not saved anyone & it can't punish anyone. In short it is fiction & does not exist. I for one believe in what I can see & feel. IF the christian god did exist in an invisible form, I would have no respect for it at all. Any entity that can let people die when it has the power to save them is just pure evil. No excuses.

I believe in a higher power but its not the same as Christians or other faiths push. The higher ower I believe in doesn't contro everything or promise anything. I chose to call my higher power God. I had a lot of the same feelings about God. One day I had a change and began to believe that its the teachings of man that caused the issues in my heart.

I am on a survivalist website because I do think that the likelihood of mankind causing a die off due to one of many different factors is pretty high. So 2 things: 1. I want to be aware of whats going on in the world and 2. I want to be mentally prepared. Both are broad reaching and encompass a lot. Then there is a couple of possible factors coming from off planet that could occur.

...and I wouldn't criticise your beliefe Coolhandlinc. Plenty of people believe in a first cause.
My question to Tina Thompson was asked because her beliefs are diametrically opposed to those of any survivalist in that she wishes to be swept up in the rapture and saved by god as everything else is cleansed not preserve her life here on earth.
I don't know about you but I think that is nothing to do with survival and she has joined my block list of evangelical trolls.

I assume that anyone who thinks "god will save me" is along the same lines as the sheeple "the government will save me" and neither is doing anything positive to ensure their own survival, therefore the comment is justified "what are you doing on a survival forum?".

I am a Christian, and I also believe that we might be living in the end times. However as much as we are told of the rapture, I still would not want to hold the conviction that we would be able to predict when it would occurr. After all, the Bible talks about the Lord Jesus coming like a theif. Therefore,we may never really know when it would happen. The only thing we could do as Christians is hold on to the faith that we will be on our way to heaven when he comes.

hold onto your faith by all means but also do something yourself to help you survive, otherwise doing nothing is as bad as the sheeple.
also doing nothing means you have learned nothing from being on a survival forum and have been wasting your time as well as ours.

The "End Times" have been spoken of in several religions. If one wishes to define such as mankind reaching a point where old paradigms simply no longer apply; a point where mankind turns away from all things spiritual, transcendent, Holy, Divine, the Light people experience after death, whatever descriptor works for you; then, I could be onboard with an end-times SHTF event(s) occurring. To use a Hindu term, humankind's Karma is in the dirt, i.e. humankind's Karma is as bad as it gets. I'd like to see humanity grow up, have better morals. For that to happen, let's face it, mankind will have to suffer horribly. Humanity is stuck in adolescence -- one could even say childhood. At this point, the "wake-up call" will have to be almost unendurable.

Me, I don't believe in some anthropomorphic deity floating up in the clouds. I do believe in a "First Cause" transcendent Unity. This Ultimate Unity gave rise to existence. Quantum physics has matter as being something Observed into existence. One could call this "deity", this Unity, this creator, the quintessential Observer. I like this phrase, "We are God observing Himself." To be sure, all of this is unknowable, however in our universe we see lower systems evolving into higher systems. The human species evolved. Therefore might there not exist in the creation we observe something I'll call the Will to Evolve! I wouldn't have the desire to survive were there not some uber-Purpose. I want my family line go on. I want mankind to go on. I believe the coming global SHTF event could serve to separate the wheat from the chaff. I find such humbling but also existentially gratifying.

I think this is a survival forum, here people prepare and share their experiences in order to survive what can happen in situations of risk or outside of what we call society, so if we had an almighty god that saves us , So why we worry about learning everything about this topic?.

In general those that help themselves survive and those that don't end up called a martyr. If someone offers you knowledge or a warning when you are in trouble and you turn it down who is to say that you refused the help that your god sent to you. I believe but am not basically christian. I am a Jesuit Pagan!

anyone who talks about "end times" is probably thinking about a biblical ending of the world and not TEOTWAWKI, and probably isn't doing anything to help themselves survive, and probably dosent want to.
i'm prepping to survive the collapse of civilisation and not the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse.

We, each and every one of us, faces a personnel end time and if it is your belief, a judgement day. Even biblically it states that no person can know the time of the calling. Personally I think that the John that wrote the book of revelations was eating those funny mushrooms that grow in animal poop. To me a being that is a god could do a better job of expressing itself. That stuff was the ramblings of a messed up mind not the words of wisdom or warning from a superior being. Just my humble opinion.

This sort of thing is counter productive to a survival philosophy. It is telling you to just give up because it is hopeless and destiny that we will all fail to survive and die. If this was what a group believed then they all to easily can end up like those poor people call Heavens Gate or the Jonestown people and dead by suicide. Why struggle if you are doomed no matter what?

From the time that I can earliest remember, my mother believed that we were getting closer to what the Bible calls the End Times, and this was the reason that she said it was important to be prepared.
So, while I do agree that some Christians expect to be raptured out of any world problems that come down, and they don't believe in preparing because of this belief; it is not true that everyone who believes in God thinks this way.
As far as I can see, good, and innocent people the world over are already being persecuted and killed, even if that has not actually happened much here in the United States.
No where does it say that only US citizens will be raptured before the tribulation; so it looks totally possible to me that we could already be in that end timeframe.
Mom always said to hope for the best; but prepare for the worst.
She stored clothes, she stored food; actually, I think that she probably saved everything. My parents owned property in the country in northern Idaho, not remote by any means; but still there was enough land for everyone in the family to come there and work together when times got hard.
She planned out things like lagoons for septic systems, and she was always reading about ideas that a person could do to keep the family going when the End Times came. She not only thought of us; but of extended family, and even friends.
When I grew up, I actually started doing this same thing; but it turned out that I am a vagabond, and moving way too often to try and keep a stockpile, over the years.
Now, I am pretty settled in; but getting too old to even survive for long when the world falls apart, and I do believe that it is doing just that, and going to get worse.
I am glad to see that my kids are working on being prepped, too, and I think that they do have a chance of making it through hard times, although not a life extinction event.

I have never been on a survival site that had so many members imply if you are a Christian you have no business being a survivalist/preppper. I am astounded. The rapture could come by the end of the year, 5 years or never but in the meantime, there will be times when an emergency like a tornado, earthquake etc. happens and people should learn and know how to take care of themselves. I know many elderly that are preppers/survivalist but they rely on medication daily to live, should they not bother because they only have time left as long as they have meds? The OP said get prepared and that is what people should be doing. Learning to take care of you and yours is what it is all about.

It isn't at all that Christians aren't supposed to be survivalists or preppers. The thing is that preparing to survive in the physical world and preparing for the rapture are two totally different things.

My family came from a place that was a serious tornado ally! The Baptist preacher told everyone that when a cloud came up they needed to pray. My Grandfather built a storm shelter and when the next tornado came through he and his family went to the storm shelter and prayed for the people that had depended on prayer only to save themselves. The preacher was one of many casualties that day. He no doubt went to heaven but My Grandpa still had things to do in this life and a family to protect. He was a very religious man and said that if it was his time God would have no problem reaching down into that shelter and get him. The preacher...well bless his stupid little heart. I suspect that when you get too stupid to avoid danger then you are daring god to get you...

A survivalist prepares for the possible and prays that he has done enough. If the rapture comes there is NOTHING that you can do so why bother to prepare? THAT is the problem with that sort of thing on a survival board. If you truly believe that the rapture is upon us then all you need to do is pray. I don't believe in the rapture and think that John that wrote the book of revelations should have left those mushrooms that grow in camel poop ALONE!! I'm going to prepare like my Grandpa did and will pray for the fools that didn't prepare.

Speaking of the end times. I was reading on the Internet that locusts are ravaging Sudan and other areas and could go to the middle east. Then you have this coronavirus crap, Iran, you name it. Things are looking biblical. Whether it's true or not, I have no idea.

This is little if any different from any year in the past. This is a BIG world and with 8 billion people there will always be some that are having a hard time. What the internet and the media do is make SURE that we are fully aware of this and they work hard to make it always seem like things are terrible. The Coronavirus and maybe the locust are just the disaster flavor of the month. don't forget that Australia is trying to burn to a crisp, and maybe a half dozen other issues that they will pull up if the virus fizzles out or the locust turns into fat birds. If you allow them they will steal your joy. It is what they do. They don't want to inform you they want to scare you. It is all sort of like a sick practical joke.

I think that the "big one" has to come some time, with 8 billion people on the planet all relying on services and supply systems using up the resources of the planet altering the climate something will have to give eventually, its not so much a question of what or why, but of WHEN.
everyone thinking just because we are humans that nothing bad can ever happen to us is just being stupid, civilisations have collapsed before and so will this one we are not immune but we have a lot further to fall than previous collapses.
those people that cannot function without the safety net of modern systems are the ones that need to fear the most. that is the majority of the human race.

    Good morning Lonewolf,

Specific civilizations have collapsed but others remained.

Much of the reliance on natural resources is not required for survival in a society. One example is petroleum use as a transport fuel.

It is the welfare state that is causing the fatal distortions.

petrol and diesel wont be available in an end times scenario as without electricity it cant be pumped into our vehicles, even if it could be syphoned it is finite as the refineries will not be functioning, neither will ships be bringing in food and other goods from abroad.

    Good morning Lonewolf,

On the drawing boards are the blueprints for new "sailing ships".

They don't use the cloth sails nor even the recently tried aluminum sails. Don't know the principle but on the deck are vertical tubes, one inside the other. Slots for the wind to enter are optimally arranged. There is some pressure principle activated and gear boxes are part of the arrangement.

Of course all this is less about technology but rather ensuring revenue flows to the key parties.

Modern housing with much better family arrangements are also on the "drawing boards".

The knowledgeable political establishments will continue a civilized society.

I'm far from being an optimist but can see that the decay is being addressed and eliminated.

    Good morning Lonewolf,

I did not say the current political parties.

To clarify; The new arrangements ... and these arrangements will be led by a political component.

Those who control a specific land mass, however small, as long as viable, and the food, water and ingredients for medicines, will have a society of some sort.

So far, all the end times resulted in regenerated societies.

The political decay was gone until it developed over time again.

its not how big or small the land mass, its what the survival rate is, and given the reliance on man made technology and man made goods that will not be high, it certainly wont be in the UK where about 85% of the population lives in cities and have modern lifestyles.
we have a consumer society and a "throw away" culture, this will be the downfall of many.

What you've written above, LW, has my complete agreement.

I use a similar ratio; 15% survival with viability.

I think 85% is only the start of it, over the months and years that follow it will be more like single percentage survivors, especially in a country like the UK that dosent have the pioneering history that the USA has, most people here are reliant on "the system" and when that fails so will they.
my location has a low population and it will be even lower post collapse, there aren't enough Police and Troops to "police" the whole country even if they all survive-which they wont.

    Good morning Lonewolf,

    Understand.

Here in the upstart colonies, besides a slow but steady growing Prepper component, we have a large critical personnel component for the critical infrastructure. This is both Federal - military, civil service, contractors and states. Add the real private sector NGOs.

completely opposite here, there just wont be enough personnel even in good times never mind after the collapse to control the whole of the UK, they will have to confine their activities to the big cities where the bulk of the population lives and even that is debateable.
us YOKELS out in the sticks will just have to fend for ourselves, something we have known here in the far South West for a very long time.
I mean we have literally one major road and one train line into Devon and Cornwall and even those are cut off in bad weather never mind the collapse of the system that is suppose to support it.

This current China virus, especially in its current configuration, isn't any sort of doomsday plague.

It shows how difficult viruses are to contain, which is a decent wake-up call we should observe and act upon.
