Seems in the Western World, the "anger factor" is well into the "bad" range. Here in the States, we are now into the realm of "hot". I'm going to lump into the Anger Factor an Anxiety Element -- human emotions being fluid.

As negative emotions increase within a population, we preppers must take notice. Everyone imagines that humans are basically rational. Well OK, maybe so, but as humans become increasingly emotional, that Rationality Factor takes a hit and at certain levels, humans go pure emotion and act-out.

Here in the States, we are seeing all manner of acting-out: fights, screaming, mass shootings (anger + the copy-cat effect), protests that quickly go destructive, ... . There are plenty of negative things going on, nevertheless, we are nowhere near any SHTF situation yet. What this tells me is that we are witnessing a It Doesn't Take Much phenomenon/societal-reality. I'm not even going to get into all of the reasons leading up to this. Why even try. But, here we are.

It would be bad enough were this coming winter and all of the negative factors appertaining -- inflation, fuel shortages, potential food shortages -- were happening within an environment wherein people were solidly in rational mode, however we see society right on the slippery slope leading to the loss of emotional control and overtly acting-out, i.e. going violent.

Through self-sufficiency, we preppers always want to keep ourselves as far away from the fray as we are able. Given the coming winter of discontent (no reference to the labor problems of '78/'79) we must be on added guard. We could see things going code Orange -- or beyond -- in society. One always wishes that whatever we have done to prepare will be sufficient, but in my life I have gotten blind-sided too many times. When I shop, I do my best to stay away from the giant retail stores. Am I paranoid? No, I'm rational. The more people, the more that can go wrong. I also stay far away from areas where the Ignorance Factor is high. Where I live, there is no shortage of ignorance and violence. Tiny-town America is NO utopia, to be sure.

Today, I'm going out and buying some solar powered outdoor lights. Already on two corners of my house I have motion-activated flood lights. Paranoid? Well, I don't think so. There are already break-ins (cars, tool sheds) around here. I want our place to be a non-target. Let the knuckle-draggers hit somebody else's place. When in "what was that" mode (dog goes off on whatever/whoever), I shut down the house lights and light-up our perimeter. Did this when I guy tried to get into our house one night. Racked the shotgun slide, ... all that. The threat got religion and left.

Good luck to everyone. Looks like things are beginning to royally sink. Deploy the life boats.
