One has to have log-in privileges to a medical library (plus, that library has to have access to many sources, i.e. very expensive / a huge undertaking; major universities do have this capability; even with all of that, I only got around 30 hits, some in foreign languages, some rather old; this article is more recent; it's a report concerning findings gained during a fetal surgery event). Remifentanil is a heavy-duty pain killer. Plus, fentanyl was administered to the fetus herself/himself. Sevoflurane is the anesthetic gas (derivative of ether) used to "knock you out". These agents cross the placental barrier. Still, the baby in-utero went bradycardic (heart rate slowed) when the procedure would have caused pain to a living/feeling being.

Every time Biden backs the whole woke/trans/LGBT bunch he wins voters. When the vice president of the USA lists on her web site her preferred pronouns as she/her you know the country is fast going down the crapper.

 

This may not be a popular attitude but I'm not a big fan of the AR-15 or even an M-16 for survival use. If I want one after the crap comes all the way down I'll just kill some silly fool that is walking down the middle of the road with his BAD AR-15 sure that in some way it makes him the baddest bull in the pasture.

Assault weapons are platoon weapons and not a very good one-person choice. First off, they are made for and intended for causing casualties that are NOT immediately dead. Wars are won more by overwhelming the enemy's ability to care for their wounded than by just killing them. I do NOT want to deal with injured people that if I don't track down and finish will come back for me later.

In an end-of-the-world, as we know it situation, I do NOT want people to know what I am all about, where I am, or that I will kill them on sight if they come past my signs that warn them off. REAL FAST in a place that no longer has a rule of law those that have mostly limited their crimes to minor things will become killers.

What they won't understand until it is too late is that a lot of us don't just kill them because we don't want to deal with those legal issues. Law saddly protects the criminals a lot more than it does the non-criminals. Basically, the laws only go into effect for a criminal if and after they get caught whereas honest people can only defend themselves after they are attacked because they obey the laws. When the blanket comes off the honest folks there are going to be a LOT of dead people really fast.

 

I'm no member of the AR crowd. If an "assault rifle" has a heavy barrel and a decent scope you can use it as a food gatherer. Lots of folk do. For instance, these are effective when killing a bunch of hogs.

When I think of multiple human attackers, I think of buckshot. I leave the tube magazine restricter out of my pump shotguns. With a pump shotgun, you can swap barrels for different uses. Short smooth bore for home defense, long barrel with screw-in chokes for game gathering, and a rifled barrel to accurately fire sabot slugs for large game or attackers out to 200 yards (over 150 yards/meters and you are stretching the capabilities of these). I fired a 3" group with sabot slugs at 100 yards with one of my rifled/slug barrels and that was with iron sights.

Another thing about having "assault rifles" is that post SHTF, you don't want to be anywhere near large urban areas. Me, I don't want to be closer than 200 miles from that crap. Foremost, I need accuracy from my rifles.

Spray'n'pray? That will inevitably get you killed. Movies and television are anything but reality. Copy what you see in the movies and you are dead meat ... and quickly so. NEVER waste ammo!

Neither of those two ARs is a militaristic weapon and they are far from what I am generally referring to when I talk about an AR-15. Most of the AR-15s that I worked on had been used mostly as a sort of toy and were fired in long rapid-fire series emptying 30 rounds as fast as possible. A few had been made into illegal full auto and you would have been doing good to hit a man-sized target at 300 yards EVER. Those were truly spray-and-pray weapons. You prayed that you could hit the broad side of a barn with them. They had been shot a LOT and seldom given much care.

Excepting people with military training or those that are truly serious experienced shooters, I would much rather deal with someone with an AR than with some old fart with a Winchester 30-30. That old fart has probably been hunting with that gun for most of his life. When he pulls the trigger something dies.
