    Australia is a huge net exporter of food!
    We do not NEED to import food!
    80% of our production is exported

    There are no real shortages now or in most any future scenario!

    Britain only produces 60% of its own food, the rest is imported-some from Europe but a lot from the other side of the world.
    if we had to be self sufficient we could only feed about 25% of the current population.
