Cops taking payoffs is also illegal. The best cops take a bit on the side. So what.

Snyper, Will that be important after it has hit the fan? I don't need to trap critters now, I can go to the store for food. After it has hit the fan is a real bad time to start learning how it is done and what you might need, that yo don't have.

I've got a Tender Trap. It's for critters the size of possum. Works.

I need to get a smaller trap. This thread reminds me.

I'd say shoot'm in the head once trapped, but my maternal grandfather used to eat their brains. Matrnl grandma fried the squirrels we hunted with their heads on. Pap would crack their heads with a spoon and suck their brains out.

I agree, I don't have a heart, I would be trapping to have a meal.

It won't matter as much then, but it matters now if you are thinking of experimenting with them to learn.

I read an article not long ago about a woman charged with "animal cruelty" after she used some snares to trap squirrels raiding her bird feeders. Her neighbor saw one hanging from the snare.

snares aren't illegal here but their use is very frowned upon by the "bunny hugger" brigade .
make sure someone dosent catch the local cat in one or they'll really be in trouble with the local cat lady!:)

Even in a regulated area, I can test them as far as function, as long as I don't abandon them or actually catch anything. In the desert, testing will not be a problem. Since I don't need the food, I don't need to actually catch anything but I do want to know how to construct a snare, set the snare and then test it for functionality.

LW, I doubt the "Bunny Hugger's" would like it any better if I shot Bugs Bunny.

no I don't think so too, its the same with venison which I get occasionally, I don't think most urbanites over here want to eat "Bambi" not that it is available in city supermarkets anyway.

Come time it really hits the fan, Bambi is not the only critters the city folks are going to start munching on, that is not available in the stores.

maybe, but when their next meal isn't on a shelf but walking around alive on 4 legs how are they going to catch it, and even more can they butcher it? some people even freak out at the sight of blood.
i'm sorry, I just cannot see a huge survival rate in the big cities, not in the UK, I really cant.

LW, the survival rate in the nations will not be huge. The cities will be hit worst and the fastest but even in the rural areas, too many depend on electricity and have no ability to survive without it.

everything we use these days seems to rely on electricity in some form or other, either to work it or to recharge it, talk about putting all your eggs in one basket!
I was brought up on power cuts.
now the UK politicians would like us all to drive electric cars, where is all that extra power supposed to come from? we haven't got enough power stations for now let alone future use, demand has nearly outstripped supply for several years in a row, all those electric cars will definitely put the lights out!

Lets see, the windmills kill the birds. The solar panels and batteries are major hazardous wast items. Nuclear power wants to melt down to china or blow up. Hydro Damns hamper fish migration. Fossil fuels cause the end of the world, so we have eliminated all known fuels. But we are going to be a green vacant planet, because all the people have died off for lack of food, shelter, clothes, medical care but the planet will be green, until the next non-man made ice age. Oops forgot about all those other natural occurrences. The ecologist of the world are determined to kill us off.
