Hello, its interesting to try an be prepared when you are always days from home. Takes a BOB to all new levels. What can be discretely carried from place to place. Knowing a walk home if need be could take weeks or months.

Howdy do from Texas. Your situation should make for some interesting discussions. You have a rather unique set of problems.

I'm looki.ng for advice, I've been trained an have my own opinions. It logistically think about crossing the country in a SHTF situation. Make it even more interesting do it on foot. What woul is you cary. How long would it take. An remember roads are for people that like to be ambushed. It's almost a impossible goal. Least it v would be to do it quickly. I think at least a year or two. To cross th ed CV US in bad conditions. That is my question.

Look for railroad, working and abandoned lines. Most people are conditioned to traveling by road or plane, they forget there are railroad lines still criss crossing the entire United States. Less chance of ambush and faster foot travels. You might even consider one of those fold up game carts, so you can haul more bug out supplies. just a thought.

Welcome to here, Traveler! I am looking forward to reading your posts.

TMT's idea is a great one, especially early on in a widespread disaster (later could be just as dangerous as roads).

If I had to travel a great distance through sketchy territory, I would think that the less stuff I am hauling would make it easier for me to evade detection...and the faster I would reach my destination.

Welcome from Missouri. Good to have you with us. You bring up a very interesting scenario. It should make us all think of what we would carry. Have you thought about a route? North, South, Middle? Each would have its own challenges. I look forward to hearing what everybody thinks.
