Hi All I’m new to this forum and forums in general so i’m going to be slow getting used to have this all works! I live in the South of England in a village and have always had periods of prepping before I even knew that it was called prepping! I’m looking forward to reading posts and getting more organised so that I am ready for any eventuality be it storms and power cuts or brexit chaos! I grow a small amount of veg in my backgarden, have a greenhouse and also hens for eggs ....when they are not broody! I also have an allotment for more veg (rented plot of communal land peculiar to the UK) but this of course would be compromised if people were starving and its a car journey to get there. My family have always thought my self sufficient yearnings were crazy and think my small stockpile of food even crazier - but it’s something I’ve always done and i’m sure there will come a day when they are grateful! Thank you for allowing me on this board. CurrantCottage
Good morning Currant Cottage, Welcome to the forum. Ditto here: grew up when "prepping" was called "home economics". First aid stuff was part of the related Civil Defense program. I'm sure you'll find valuable info here coupled with having a good time. Transmitting from eastern Virginia, USA.
Welcome to the forum, @CurrantCottage There is a lot to be read here. It would be interesting to read about your gardening and hen experiences. Right now I'm lacking both garden and hens. Have never had hens. Please, jump in to the forum and participate.
Thank you so much for the welcome and its nice to know I'm not the only person from the UK ! Looking forward to reading posts and learning from you all !
Welcome to here, Currant Cottage. It sounds like you have a great headstart on preparedness, which makes perfect sense in these uncertain times. Someday your loved ones will appreciate your efforts to be self-sufficient. Hopefully, all it will take is something like a power outage for their wakeup call! You mentioned concerns about the possibility of your allotment being compromised someday... One solution would be to plant things that the average citizen would not recognize as food in your area, but are nutritious delicacies in other parts of the world. .
Welcome from Canada. Some great people here. I’m guessing Currant Cottage is the name of your place, love the name
