I once read about a man who had come in contact with a young boa. It was not very big but it was still powerful enough to wrap itself around the man’s arm and sink its razor sharp teeth into it. Shockingly the man was unalarmed. The specialists who the man went to, had an idea that was borderline genius, and attempted it to get the snake to unwound itself, without being hurt or hurting the man. The specialist instructed the man to submerge his whole snake infested arm, into a container that was filled to the brim with water. What the specialist was counting on is that the survival instinct of the snake would kick in and cause the baby boa to loosen its grasp in the following 3 minutes. Because of the snake realizing that it can suffocate in the water, breathing trumped having supper in and both the man and snake received minimal damage.

Well this can be helpful if you are near a body of water. I just doubt that it would make much of a difference if you have come in contact with an adult boa.

That makes sense, either way this way of thinking should be used more often in these situations. Especially in the case of the boy who drowned to death by being pulled under water by a crocodile. Some animal facts like pressure points etc. should help those of us who want to survive an attack.

I heard that if you were to come into contact with a young boa and it somehow finds a way to wrap itself around you then you should start off my shaking it off of you. However, if it manages to completely wrap itself around you and begins strangling you then you should start by calming down. Next, you want to find the end tail part of the snake and slowly unwind it off of you like a rope. Don't ever try to remove the snake by grabbing the front side and pulling it off or else you might end up in the worst scenario than the snake trying to strangle you.

Wow! I never thought about something like that. Thanks for the insight. I still believe that if you are unarmed, just run for your life.

Hmm, good thing to know. The tip with water was great as well, but if you are not close to it and you get snatched by an adult boa, doubt it would help that much. How about sensitive spots, are there any? I know that boas won't attack humans on their own in most case scenarios, they will either go away or warn you to go away before actually going after you. But it would be good to know if it had some weak spots as well, cause if you end up being strangled in a bad way you might not be able to reach the tail and unfold it. If boa bites you even worse, you can't simply shake it off, you will most likely end up ripping your flesh apart.
