I just realized the intro post I made a few days ago had been removed (accidentally) by the admin. Now that we have that resolved...

I have been lurking here for a while. I'm not sure when I first found the forum but it was shortly after my husband suggested I read William Forstchen's 'One Second After'. I've enjoyed reading all the great info others have posted here. I'm not really the most social person so while I may not post very often know that I am here, eyes wide, taking to heart all the great information that all of you share.

Good day AM, & welcome to this forum. I can't say as though I am very social myself, I enjoy living in isolation in our forest, but I do enjoy sharing & learning on forums.
    Regards, Keith.

That is the same book that I took to a county jail about three months ago and left for the prisoners to read . That I was told was a very popular book as they took turns reading it . It eventually made its way back to me and now sits in my modest book collection . As a prepper I could see flaws in the story line but still it is a very good book to get people thinking along the lines of a prepper . AMSEMPLE welcome .

Welcome to here! I am so glad to meet you. Here's hoping that you ask questions along the way because there are folks here who have likely "been there, done that" and can give answers that are backed by experience.

Aside from that, as you probably have seen, we mostly sit around the ol' wood stove and chew on some reeeealy deep stuff, lol.

    Burp.

We are looking forward to your posts!

What were some of the most notable things that struck home with that book you read?

Haha! And we all followed you down the rabbit hole.

Well, we had fun discussing William Forstchen's One Second After, and now I want to read the book to see what all the fuss was about, lol.

There may have been holes in the story but if you want to awaken someone to the need to prepare this is the perfect book to do so.
It keeps a readers attention and is pretty damned plausible. They can easily put themselves in that situation. The commentary by Newt Gingrich also adds credence.

It really is amazing how many people never even consider for a minute that something like that could happen in their daily lives or the repercussions of such an event. I didn't become awoken to the need to prepare until 2010 or 2011. When I did and I thought back the the financial crash in 2007 and how close we were to total anarchy and how unprepared not only I was at the time but everyone around me it scared the hell out of me.

2007 was pretty close. I know several people in the upper echelon of international banking and they all tell me that we were but moments away from total financial Armageddon. Several of those I know worked 70+ hours straight brokering deals, appealing to politicians and doing shuffling to save the house of cards from falling down. The level of near panic was palpable. One said to me “you could feel the cold hands of death on the monetary system”

2008, was my wake up call. Lost everything, house, job, saving and relationship. Now I know what can happen and it can happen very fast. Prep and then prep some more.

Rumor is that the next financial crash is coming before the next US election. If that is the case it is supposed to make the crash of 2007-2008 look like nothing. Especially since they never stopped too big to fail, in fact they just helped them get bigger, they never punished those who caused it and they once again have approved and allowed the same types of risky investments.
