Browsing the internet looking for an active survival forum and this one looks up-to-date. I am an amateur radio operator always looking for information about the latest and greatest survival equipment from outdoor gear to guns to emergency food prep, you name it. I guess I got into preparedness after living in Florida for 22 years and having gone thru more than my share of hurricanes and damage. After standing in a line all day in the sweltering heat for a gallon of drinking water I told myself never again. I am prepared now for the worst, but always looking for new ideas and good gear and, above all, good information. Hopefully, I can learn here and possibly add my own input from personal experience. Looking forward to it

 

Greeting from Southeast Texas. I know what you mean about the hurricanes. I have been through the eye three times and blasted by more than I can remember. I was raised by a man that believed in being prepared to take care of his family no matter what so we always had plenty of food and water already stored when hurricane season started. Several times people in my area have been without power for periods as long as nearly 2 months. I think that 10 days or so is the longest I've been without power.

There is a ton of great information here. We have people from all over the world and that offers you NEW perspectives on a lot of things. We are a variable group so that lets you hear different views and ways to handle situations.
