I'm surviving Winter Storm Jonas!

As the last of the flakes quit flying I'm amazed at the fact that this was a named storm! As a kid we had a name for 'em too though - it was called Winter. As I sit inside with my propane fireplace, kerosene furnace and wood stove at the ready to save me from Jonas' wrath I recall just last week when everyone in this areas water lines were freezing and my daughter needed to come over to get a shower. My water line froze just as she got her hair lathered up and I was hours away driving and making a living. She of course called me to lament her predicament and inquire as to a solution. Well now - Dad is a prepper, so this was easy! I use old cat litter jugs to keep about 2-1/2 gallons each, behind the couch (out of the way and generally out of sight) and use a propane stove so she easily heated some water and rinsed her congealed suds out. This water supply was also used to flush the toilet and when the other daughter showed up to make chicken corn soup I steered her to the soda bottles of filtered and dated water stored there also for just such needs.

I test fired the snowblower yesterday and shoveled my way to it this evening so in the morning I can begin the work of self rescuing. I'm also looking forward to the war stories for my grandkids when I tell them how I survived the Blizzard of '16 we called Jonas.
