"I may not agree with what you say but I will defend to the death your right to say it", anything else is not free speech its a dictatorship.
if the democrats shut down everything they dont agree with or dont like they are no better than Hitler or Pol Pot.

The new oligarchic Iron Curtain falls on the former USA.

    https://www.realclearpolitics.com/articles/2021/01/12/the_great_social_silencing_145014.html

"Last week Silicon Valley silenced the president. In unison, the social media giants, with an assist from Amazon and Apple, also eliminated their most popular conservative competitor and announced that their own moderation policies would now extend to other companies. Meanwhile, CNN openly called for Fox News to be banned from cable, while a major talk radio network issued new speech rules to its hosts, extending tech’s moderation policies to the offline world. Beyond all this, Congress and the European Union called for powerful new regulation of online speech.

"As a handful of unelected billionaires declare sovereignty over digital speech, where might the coming months take us?

"Perhaps more troubling is that speech rules no longer just govern social spaces. Uber, Lyft and Airbnb have all banned their services from being used by those whose online and offline political speech was deemed unacceptable. Facebook last year extended its reach to the offline world, banning certain kinds calls for protest while permitting others.

"It was a remarkable sight to behold Democratic lawmakers and the press lamenting that Congress does not have the power to silence voices with which it disagrees and instead urging Silicon Valley to exercise the power only it holds: the ability to silence any voice from the digital world. And this plea came from the very lawmakers who had once condemned social platforms as dangerous monopolies.

"Moreover, the companies’ announcements that they were permanently suspending the president referenced not potential illegal activity banned by law but rather the companies’ decision that permitting him to continue communicating with the nation posed too great a risk to democracy.

"Even offline media are not immune. Television channels must contract with cable carriers to transmit them into homes, syndicated radio shows must be hosted by stations, and even independent newspapers must have websites and mobile apps. With local news outlets diminishing, it is important to note that no matter how editorially independent some may be, all are still dependent on cloud providers, app stores, Internet service providers, etc. In the aftermath of Wednesday’s events at the Capitol, CNN openly called for cable carriers to drop Fox News, while Cumulus Media issued new acceptable speech rules to its conservative talk radio hosts.

"The nation’s founders chose not to give Congress the power to silence even a madman in the Oval Office, other than to remove him through impeachment. This week taught us that a handful of billionaires in California essentially have that power. Trump’s near-total disappearance from the digital world since his ban serves as a stark reminder of this.

"The near-unanimous support from the new Democratic majority for this ban means Silicon Valley is now emboldened to eliminate any voice, no matter how powerful. It creates a dangerous normalization of the silencing of dissent."

....it's just a pity that the bosses of these social media platforms couldn't be just as assiduous about dealing with all the child porn, misinformation or intellectual property theft that is out there.

    Great points, Ystranc !

Am guessing that these "social media" (anti-social !) platforms will become a regulated entity by Fed government - similiar to the former telex industry.

To control the media and fill the people with the mind set of the in-slaved with the obedient and correct thinking of that the new communist regime approves of seems to be the first thing the New United States hierarchy is targeting . The attack on free and independent thinking may focus on this forum in the near future . At least a big portion of our members will not be surprised if this transpires into reality and this site disappears . After all we prepare for all kinds of S.H.T.F. situations . First the news feeds then our weapons . Preppers I hope are ready for this .

The adolescent oligarchs running media firms of every ilk are latter-day "rebels without a cause." I refer to the 1950s movie with James Dean. This movie was based on a book written by a psychiatric physician who had worked in a prison hospital, thus a doctor having NO shortage of sociopaths to study and attempt to treat.

    https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/23499.Rebel_Without_a_Cause

In the 50s movie and unfortunately in today's society, one observes non-poor adolescents rebelling against moms and dads and religious tenets and the law and whatever else against which one can rebel. This rebellion at its core is the standard motivation of the young adult to leave the nest, thus "Mom and Dad are bad." Yet, how does one express this? Anyone who has raised adolescents into their adulthood (my sons are now bald and grey) knows all-too-well the rebellion factor and its many behavioral manifestations.

Old wise folk see the adolescent phenomenon in "adults" who were unable to grow past the teenage phase of life. Something, fill in the blank whatever it was, froze them there. What is particularly dangerous with some of these people is that they are smart enough and have become wealthy enough to have gained power in this world. Dangerous, why dangerous? Because they still have the ego of a child. "Baby gets to do what Baby wants to do." "Baby knows what is best for Baby and for everybody else!"

No one is holding to account these oligarchs for their patently immature behavioral patterns and the deleterious effects they have on society. Why? Because the people who have come to control the media are every bit as immature and controlling as those they should be laughing at, revealing them as spoiled children having a tantrum. The children are at the helm.

Note also that the Antifa crew is another set of spoiled adolescents having their mega-tantrums. The Antifa crew are basically a bunch of sycophants toadying-up to their professors. Speaking of professors ...

The Universities of the West are a powerful enabling agents for the rebellion/collectivism mental disorder. There is nothing so in-bred as the university environment. I do not believe for an instant that Sociology is a science ... but for the moment, let's pretend that it is. I'm pretending myself into the position of National Grand High Poobah of Sociology. Who would I hire as professors of Sociology? Who would better qualify than: retired police officers, prostitutes (they would make for the best psychologists, also), in-country military officers who have been ordered to get local tribe leaders to not kill each other via negotiations, organized crime lieutenants, street merchants, post-office delivery employees, ... You see where I'm going with this. The current Ivory Tower professors are utterly bereft of anything approaching common sense. Many students consider these dolts as ancient wise gurus. Many students NEVER grow up because they get pencil-pusher jobs; or worse, they get into education and thus perpetuate the disease.

What have become "normal" beliefs? These things have: religion and/or anything representing authority is bad; self-control is internalized oppression, therefore bad; if something is wrong in your life, it is the fault of someone else, not you; for having been born, you are now entitled to happiness, and a home, and free healthcare, and transportation, and a cellphone, and ... and ... and ... .

When we send human beings into space, they must exercise with extreme discipline and rigor. Why? Because when they return to Earth with its pesky gravity thingy going on, these astronauts will have become weakened and their muscles atrophied. Even given their in-space exercise programs, such were insufficient. Humans must have tasks and struggles, else they will weaken and wither (don't tell God that I'm aware of this phenomenon, I have a rather long list of complaints for Him when I croak and go have a cigarette-break with the Old Fellow).

For the human soul to grow, it must possess the Liberty to succeed or fail. The disease of international collectivism is a war against the Will of the Divine. It is the supreme cancer. Indeed we are now living in the End Times spoken of in all the great world religions. What you and I are witnessing is part and parcel of the downfall of the old world order. A new awakening unto Godliness will follow The Destruction; however, what it will take humankind to come to a true awakening is going to be a grinding hell.

If you imagine a fellow prepper to be too obsessive in his or her preparations, the day will come that you will rue any such assessment. People, the current world "order" is going to be ripped apart like tissue paper. All arrogance will be torched. All that will be left is extreme humility among those who survive. God's Grace is a mighty reality; however, we are also individually held to account for our actions such that we and our families might prevail amidst The Great Cleansing. This world is the plane upon which souls are tested. This world separates the wheat from the chaff.
