I think one of the most compelling lessons from history is what will happen to us who love our country and associated freedoms and faith. History shows it will be quick and brutal. It will be a purge to include us, all in our family and all that we own. People will be strung up on lamp posts for all to see to make examples of those who don't conform. Hatred will be the fuel. Fear, intimidation, demonetization of your assets, and the such will be the tools.

This is where history becomes a useful tool. If one looks at empires, using Rome as a key example, it is easy to see how an empire rose and subsequently fell. We can clearly see parallels today. The British empire for example had huge territories, remarkable for a small island. The similarity with Rome is, of course, that Rome itself was a city state and expanded to have a huge empire.

Further parallels exist today. The USA can be seen as an empire, it is. a relatively young nation, expanded rapidly and will in all likelihood contract just as rapidly at some point in the future.

Empires are not solely conquests of people and land. Manufacturing is just as empirical. Let us consider British manufacturing. Britain once supplied the world, but not any more. the US was a manufacturing powerhouse - cars, railway engines, ships, sadly for the US all in decline. China and India are in periods of enormous expansion, rapidly rising as we speak to become the dominant manufacturing forces in the world, but they too will fall in time.

If nothing else history shows us not to be complacent, it shows us that what we have today, we may not have tomorrow. This brings us back to Rome, seen through many eyes as mainly a tourist destination. Folks go there to see the archeological remains of an empire. That, my friends, can be considered a "warning from history".
