    Great article Pragmatist.

"the trick ... is to learn to be content in yourself".

"The ones who survive with a measure of happiness are those who can live profoundly off their intellectual resources, as hibernating animals live off their fat."

"I had recognised that an orderly, harmonious routine was the only lasting defence against my special circumstance,” Byrd wrote. “The brain-cracking loneliness of solitary confinement is the loneliness of a futile routine. I tried to keep my days crowded."

most people have a herd mentality, they cannot exist without talking to other people, lots of other people on a daily basis, my SIL is one of these she has to have an audience.
wouldn't bother me if I never see another human being for the rest of my life, most people are a pain in the rear end anyway, and not worthy of my time.

Some folk cannot endure being faced with the facts. Many go straight to the 151 proof Denial bottle.

Preppers have a tendency to be orderly, sometimes over-orderly. I'm OCD, but not hopelessly so. Being picky-picky has kept me in jobs during large company layoffs. I'm not nuts. Few preppers are nuts. But gosh can we ever be too rational.

What's wrong with being too rational? Answer: You imagine that other people think things through as do you.

Most people are not particularly rational.

Preppers are shocked when members of their species go straight into denial or totally flip-out. As I write this, I just read where some guy went crazy and started running over people with his car -- luckily, he didn't have a large car.

People of today are in denial. As things in this nation and other nations spiral out of control, people one would expect to be at least semi-rational will go bat-sh## berserk. Some of these zombie horror movies may be instructive -- thought I'd never say that, but wow, people are going nuts.

For the following article, one may have to scroll down to read all of the article. There was a huge gap of blank space that I had to scroll past. An ad? My computer setup blocks a whole lot of advertising junk, so maybe its just my computer -- if not, scroll down for full story:

we've got a lot of people over here with mental health problems because of the lock down, going nuts staring at 4 walls, not just adults children too.
dosent bode well for WTSHTF, if they cant handle a bit of forced quarantine, but then many are like that, they cannot cope without having other people-lots of other people- around them.

I include this following article. I think the fellow who wrote it is likely a bit of a fanatic himself; however there is information about Jim Jones -- the original "drink the Kool-Aid cult leader -- that I never knew.

    Clinical viewpoint:

    https://www.psychiatrictimes.com/view/clinical-update-cults

    O.Geezer's cynical viewpoint:

The cult of Secular Humanism is one nasty, yet understandable mental anomaly.

Most vote Leftist because they are among the something-for-nothing crew, "Send me my government check -- NOW!!!" The born-again Secular Humanists were often indoctrinated at university. It's easy to be a believer when young -- one hasn't run into true human nature when just out of the social womb. Most folks grow up.

Older cultists have something wrong in their heads. This mis-wiring could have any number of origins. I'm glad that I am unable to understand why some people write love letters to their rapists now doing time in prison. Death row inmates get stacks of letters from their groupies.

Secular Humanist leaders are a dime a dozen. Some have "I'm Jesus Christ" syndrome, but more of them see an opportunity to sheer the sheep. Look at the high tech monopoly oligarchs, they are rolling in the dough. "Community activists" live in nice houses and drive high-dollar cars. They call for higher taxation because they have the finances, plus they benefit from the political money machine.

I believe urban areas suffer from this plague more that other regions due to the packing of people into too small of an environment. People turn into psycho-rats when crowded.

Seems like people are getting to where they can't cope with anything. And we're talking young people!

Juvenile obesity is pandemic in Western nations. Tells you a lot about our world. (One major reason for the high Chinacovid deaths is morbid obesity -- even in the young.)

Also, a phenomenon to consider is the holding a rat experiment -- holding a rat teaches the rat that struggle is futile. Free-roaming rats seem to last longer / swim longer in water than rats conditioned to not fight back. "The system is too big -- there's nothing I can do."

My grandma whipped the sh## out of me when I was like 4 years old (flaming red welts on my legs from a tree limb green switch). I had cried, "I want my mommy!" Grandma told me that I was "too old for that". She was right. Weakness in a hard world leads to failure and death.

People raised in today's liberal Western cultures have not been equipped mentally to take on individual responsibilities. When something goes wrong, they cry-out, "Who's gonna fix this?!" They do not take individual initiative. This is a fatal syndrome for any society.

I see a lot of people acting strangely for example
    1) my wife yells at the tv.
    2) a friend yells at people walking in the wrong direction in the grocery store. not just a little but abusive
    3) another friend drinks to excess. half a bottle
    4) another friend has cradle into a room and shut the door .
    5) another friend react poorly when someone come close.
even myself which i am as calm and steady as anyone sometimes overreacts .
I do not know where this will all end .

    Good morning Old Geezer,

I don't know if it will remain a national policy, ...

Toward end of Trump administration, info got on web about closing down the Univ of California system. This was to be accomplished by ending entrance exam criteria ... believe this was done in 1970s at City University of New York ... another large system.

If the Biden administration continues this Trump policy and de facto closes down the Univ of Calif system, economic reform will occur.

I cannot comment on the sex researcher. Maybe the professor developed a method to further the species without the risk of sexually transmitted diseases. This will save funds that can be reallocated to California's homeless population.

Quite a number of years back, many medical schools stopped looking at entrance exam scores so that African American students could get in. Several prestigious medical schools do not give students grades during their first two years due to grading being considered a form of cultural oppression. This gives tutors time to bring marginal students sufficiently up to speed so that they can pass their USMLE exams (first exam is at 2nd year).

    http://www.medicalschoolsuccess.com/how-hard-is-it-to-get-into-medical-school/

    https://www.aei.org/carpe-diem/new-...spanics-being-admitted-to-us-medical-schools/

I remember the day when people with a GPA less than 3.5 didn't even apply to medical school much less expect to get in. Really, one needed a 3.8 or better to get in to a stateside school as opposed to a Caribbean school. Minorities today are getting into med school with a GPA under 3.4 and MCAT scores of less than 27. Actually, I shouldn't say "minorities". This is because there is overt bias AGAINST students who are of Asian background. Asian students are the "curve-busters". They are intelligent and are excellent workers. Asians make other minorities look bad, therefore they have a horrible time getting into medical school even if they have GPA scores over 3.8. Extreme reverse discrimination exists in American universities and certainly American medical schools. Medical schools of today bear no resemblance to Medical schools of just 30 years back. The discipline isn't what it used to be.

It would be a good thing if people this massively neurotic did not reproduce.

Normal people are going to do what normal people do.

Communist / psycho-crap indoctrination is falling flat when it comes to getting Heartland Americans to believe that they are defective and that Christianity should be abolished. Thus the upcoming civil war.

The socialists have the money-printing presses headed for full overdrive. The dollar is doomed. Good. Urban Amerika must be allowed to implode. The USSA must be allowed to collapse as did the USSR.

some years ago I had to go to a hospital for some minor tests and the female doctor-not British born- was very difficult to understand, her command of the English language was very poor, she had to have a nurse "interpreter" with her who was Irish so she was just as bad!:D

Extreme irrational behavior has been observed on the part of a U.S. congressional representative, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY). This is a clinical example of a totally out of control hysterical outburst.

    https://www.breitbart.com/politics/...d-gamestop-fiasco-you-almost-had-me-murdered/

“'I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out,' she snapped, adding that she is happy to work with “almost any other GOP” member who is not “trying to get me killed.”

“'In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign,' she added."

This outburst could be expected of a spoiled 13 year old child. This sort of emotional loss of control should never be witnessed in any person holding public office -- certainly not a member of congress. That the mainstream media does not hold this child to account speaks volumes about the severity level of the collectivist mental disease asserting itself over Western nations.
